The Viral Twitter Fight about Patton Oswalt’s Spouse
No doubt, finding our other half brings happiness into our lives. Celebrities or not, we’re all humans who want to share the rest of our lives with our loving partner. But, when they pass away, can we find our other half again? Sadly, this turned into a burning debate on Twitter about Patton Oswalt’s spouse.
Oswalt was previously married to Michelle McNamara, the mother of his little girl, Alice before she tragically passed away in her sleep in 2016. Patton Oswalt’s first wife, Michelle McNamara, was a brilliant crime writer who left a book unfinished. Heartbroken and in grief, Patton had to continue with his life after Michelle McNamara died in her sleep. He also shared the excitement of finishing and publishing his first wife’s novel in his Tweets.
But celebrating good memories of beloved people no longer in life doesn’t mean tying yourself to the past and stopping living your life in the present. This is what Patton Oswalt did. 18 Months after the death of Patton Oswalt’s wife, he remarried the beautiful actress Meredith Salenger. And if you’re wondering, they didn’t meet on set. They first connected on Facebook over a missed dinner of their mutual friend. He found hope and happiness in Meredith, and they have been married since 2017. However, not everyone welcomed this new happy chapter in Patton Oswalt and Meredith Salenger’s personal life.
Patton Oswalt and his wife Meredith celebrated their first anniversary in a sweet and cheesy Twitter exchange in 2018. Still, one guy decided to mess with their happiness with a rude and insensitive remark. No one knows his true reasons for commenting negatively on someone else’s happiness (celebrity or not). Still, he got the response that his comment deserved. People applauded Oswalt’s comeback while adding their own thoughts on the matter. This is how it turned into a viral fight on Twitter.

Share on FacebookI read somewhere that men who were happily married tend to remarry if their spouse dies. Mr. Oswalt went through one of the most traumatic experiences I can imagine (his wife died in her sleep). He deserves all the happiness he can find.
Who the heck would downvote this? It's totally true (and super nice, BTW).

I'm sorry Kjorn. That's a loss no one should have to endure. Hugs to you and your mom!

I have some health issues that make it very likely that I'll pass long before my wife. I absolutely want her loved and cared for. If the is an after life I PROMISE you I will be guiding someone amazing for my wife to share her life with to her.
You can spend your life on Twitter writing stupid and/or offensive comments or you could actually live a real life. It's sad that a lot of people seem to think that the first is more important than the latter. What's the fun in hurting people you don't even know?
Patton Oswalt cannot seem to win with idiots on the Twitterverse. First there were the folks who deemed it too soon for Oswalt to remarry after his wife's death and now, some troll thinks it's 'creepy' that he was able to find happiness after such a loss. Hey, Mike Galli, you should read more of Patton Oswalt's posts and tweets about his late wife before you pass any judgement. You'll learn: How much he adored her when she was alive. How utterly shattered he was when she suddenly passed away. How he thought he would be alone for the rest of his life because well, you can't possibly get that kind of love more than once, right? Mike Galli, I am sorry you lost your sister but I doubt she would want you to believe that happiness was something that was creepy.
Fun fact: It it possible, to love more than one person at the same time. Not only two kids, but also two women. It is possible, to love the first and feel the lost. And to find love again at the same time with the second one. Love is infinite. When will people start to see that?
I wish them all the happiness in the world. You cannot honour somebody who passed away by giving up on life, especially if there is a child. I hope that my husband finds the most amazing, super fantastic person to make him happy if I should go before him. If another person can benefit from the amazing person he is inside a marriage, it would be wonderful.
I went to college with Patton - he is truly a smart and great person and he deserves all the happiness.
Patton is really lucky. Found my Bob after I worked night shift 9/26/18. I'll never be us again. Pain is unbearable and I'm lonely forever.
The fact that Patton Oswalt finds happiness in being married is a tribute to his first wife.
RE: Set Beard To Stun's reply--where did he get 9 minutes? 2:26 pm (Mike's post about his sister) to 7:35 pm (his post to Oswalt) is almost 5 hours?

But wait... ohhh, yes... that's the whole 'positive thing' about twitter/instagram/ facebook/ etc., thinking is not mandatory before you press send, it's optional (and sometimes not even that).
I admire Oswalt so much, he's one of my favorites. I could tell from his work how much he adores his wife and little girl. I can't believe that some little puke would say something so cruel about finding a love that patched together a wounded family.
Good for Patton. He was beside himself. I'm glad you got another chance at love. Love his work.
I'm a widower who did care for his ill wife for quite a while - before she passed away early 2004 of cancer. I can spell out every letter of the word loneliness. Meeting the woman i am married to today, did save my life literally... Because going through loneliness and depressions for a few years got the best of me and i was thinking about taking my own life on a daily basis. I met some people who did react the same way to me starting a new relationship, like that troll reacted to Patton Oswalds tweets. People like that have no place in my life. Thanks to my wife i do have the chance to enjoy one.
I don't see the point in people making cruel comments, I also don't see the point in Patton continuing to acknowledge people like him, or in everyone else piling on. I find the piling on to be just a lot of people trying to show how much better of a person they are than someone else.
It was very mean and spiteful of @What'shisface to rain on somebody else's parade uninvited. Who asked him for anything anyway?
Not a single of the comments is warranted. But why the original posting on twitter? Telling your loved ones that they are loved ones is a private thing to me...nothing to tweet about. Thus, all of this stuff is irrelevant to the public as it is private....
You're right, not your cup of tea. Not mine, either. However, everyone is different. Not everyone shows or receives love the same way. Doesn't mean it is wrong. Now, feeling the need to dump on a positive comment...

It was s****y and stupid and rude and uncalled for to say that to Patton’s “face” (via twitter) like that. But I do see where he’s coming from. Moving on so quickly, even while honoring his ex, is pretty surprising and not something I would even consider if I found myself in the same situation.
I’m pretty sure that’s you bud (not offending liberals)
