Yes, when all of your knowledge is based on helping white people, it may not work for non-white people (think drug response tied to prevalent genetic polymorphisms). It's interesting that you think that only black families live in poor areas. In addition, genetics are said to play a part in premature babies and I don't see how that can be down to racism. I abhor racism but I'm tired of people shouting 'racism' whenever the chips don't fall their way.

Please cite where I said that only Black families live in poor areas. I said that the wealth of the median Black family in the U.S. is 1/10 the wealth of the median white family. We have to acknowledge that there's a connection between wealth and health. We also have to acknowledge that there's a connection between wealth and race (due to racism). I was talking about Black babies, and I was talking about wealth. Wealth impacts health. The median Black family has 1/10 the wealth of the median white family. That's because of racism. (Think about it. Inheritance plays a lot into white wealth, and for generations, Black people were largely barred from gaining wealth. Ditto family businesses and loans, etc. The impact of those decisions from a generation or two ago still impact families today.) That doesn't mean that ALL Black people are poor. It also doesn't mean that NO white people can be poor. It just means that Black people face higher rates of poverty than white people because of systemic racism. That impacts lots of things -- including health.

I agree that poverty is a huge factor in peoples lives but I can't agree with calling healthcare racist. The Hippocratic Oath goes a long way to prevent this.

Thank-you for your recommendations. Poor white people and hispanics also live in poor areas. As far as I am aware there haven't been any lynchings since 1913 so I don't see the relevance of that point. I am against racism in all its forms but I am also against crying 'racism' at the drop of a hat. It weakens the power of the word and people are less likely to take it seriously when it does happen.

The last historical lynching in my state of the US happened in 1920. On June 15, 1920, three African-American circus workers, Elias Clayton, Elmer Jackson, and Isaac McGhie, suspects in an assault case, were taken from the jail and lynched by a white mob of thousands in Duluth, Minnesota. People took pictures and brought their children to take photos with the mutilated corpses. Modern lynchings happen too, people just don't make it a big community celebration. A few examples are George Floyd, Ahmad Aubry, Daunte Wright (which happened right in my neighborhood), and Treyvon Martin. There are many, many, many more. I hope you'll do the work to educate yourself so you'll stop spouting hurtful s**t that minimizes the racism all around us. You need to read, listen to some podcasts (like "Black History for White People" or "Codeswitch"), and you need to realize that just because you don't see it or it doesn't affect you directly doesn't mean it's not happening.

A lynching is where a group of people kill someone for an alleged offence without a trial usually by hanging. You said yourself that the last lynching took place in 1920 but then go on to refer to 'modern lynchings'. Are we changing the narrative to fit the facts or are we changing the facts to fit the narrative?

Stephen Lawrence was murdered in London in 1993 by a group of people for being Black. Larnell Bruce was murdered in Oregon in 2016 by white supremacists for being Black. There are sadly many more examples. By your own definition, these are lynchings. We've adopted the idea that lynchings were only in the past and today we're somehow immune from that. In reality, that's simply not true.

Again, lynchings still happen they're just not a public celebration anymore. Quit arguing semantics and educate yourself. Minimizing racism is disgraceful. This conversation is over until you do some work on yourself. You're nitpicking about wording because deep down maybe you know your argument is biased toward your experience only. I am doing the opposite of minimising racism. I am trying to reserve the term 'racism' for occasions that truly deserve it rather than just calling everything racist when it isn't. By claiming racism where there is none diminishes the power of the word. That is ALL that I am against. I hate racism and I am well educated thank-you very much. PS. A lynching is an informal public execution by a mob. George Floyd was a criminal and died whilst being detained by the police because he was suspected of a crime. His death was unfortunate and a crime and the perpetrator was rightly punished for it. If you think that was a lynching then it isn't me that needs to read a book.

He was suspected of paying with false bills. Nobody deserves to die for something like that, a fine or even a simple warning would have been punishment enough for a first-time offense.

It's not swayed by how many people there are or outliers who have far more or far less than everyone else. The median wealth of a Black family in the U.S. is $17,150. The median wealth of a white family in the U.S. is $171,000.

that is 100% false. THere is not a single ethnic group that has an average earning for a family over 115k a year, and the top three groups are not white either. Further the average Black Family earns around 35k a year. Yes poverty is higher in the black community, but Jamaicans are among the highest earning. There are many factors and dumbing it down to race hurts, not helps. Further making up numbers doesnt help either.

So it’s just a coincidence that black families were stuck for generations in red-lined neighborhoods, unable to buy homes because they were refused loans that similarly qualified white families were given? Who drew those red lines, and for what purpose? Hint: the lines were drawn because the people were black, and they remained poor because of the lines.
