We tried twice, but the lobbyist who has the Congress in their pockets got it shot down both times.

I voted for him twice. The problem is that the two parties have too much control over the electoral process. You'll never get elected if you don't get their support. So the choice we're presented with is artificial; we never really choose the candidates.

Most Americans don't understand that their votes in large elections are just to give the illusion of control. Your vote will always make a difference in local and state elections (where it actually matters).

We try so hard but there's this portion of the population that can't even contemplate that sociodemocratic societies can exist without the looming issue of communism coming in it's wake. There's another percentage that are ultra rich and can afford to look the other way as long as their financial gains are left uninvestigated and untaxed. These people also have most politicians in their pockets. Bernie has always been Bernie and has been driven out by the latter group for threatening their wealth.

The American PEOPLE voted for Hillary (I voted for Bernie in the primary) over the 🍊🍄💩…it was the racist, archaic ELECTORAL COLLEGE that caused that travesty to take place!

He overwhelmingly won the caucuses in my state but our electors chose Clinton instead.

I wanted Warren, who has similar policy ideas but gets less attention because of... reasons.

He opted out of the election in 2021(if I remember correctly). I don’t know what happened with America voting tr@mp in office tho. (Edit: yes he opted out, I found out. Direct words: Mr. Sanders, a democratic socialist making his second run for the White House, withdrew after a series of losses to Joseph R. Biden Jr., who emerges as the presumptive nominee for the general election. Sheesh, that was a lot.)

He doesnt toe the DNC line so they railroaded him to push hillary. If he ran as an independent he wouldnt be included in most of the televised debates too.

How many times do we have to tell non-Americans! The majority of us did NOT vote for Trump. But he got in anyway because of two things, the corrupt electoral college votes and the Russians had a hand in his election. And the second term when we FINALLY had some power back it was either him or Biden. So of course we voted for Biden.

Before you get too righteous, take a good long look at your own country/government - people everywhere are the same.

Because we have been fooled into believing that we have more in common with a billionaire than with a homeless person.

Because the other two used fear to win. I live in Vermont which is Bernie's state. He does walk this way and has been this same for 40 years.

@Scagsy: He is also very naive, for lack of a better term. He was asked in a town hall during the 2016 campaign what his strategy was for getting his platform passed, should he be elected. The interviewer pointed out that Congress was very divided, that there could easily be no majority by either party, and that some of his ideas would be a tough sell or a flat out no-go with Republicans. His answer, was essentially, that he'd just rally "the people" and Congress would have to cave. The problem with that is that he didn't reach out to POC, and although younger Americans loved him, they didn't get off their butts and vote -- for him, or anyone. When he ran again in the 2020 campaign, he had the same problems: lots of enthusiasm from young people who had no intention of voting, and an inability to reach minorities, particularly Blacks. He had had four years to fix those issues and didn't.....he has great vision but doesn't follow through when it comes to the presidential thing.

I certainly wouldn't have voted for Trump but Bernie's not my cup of tea either. His made a life out making statements like that and I have seen many politicians like him come to power only to dissolve like a sugar cube in coffee. You need someone who understands the economy not someone who fights it.

Because they believed other politicians who said a vote for Bernie is essentially throwing away your vote. So even those who agree with a majority of Bernie’s beliefs didn’t vote for him. That’s how American propaganda works. It’s fear-based and all or nothing.

Because Bernie Sanders is insanely wealthy too.

We've got plurality voting, making it literally impossible to elect him. Which, of course, is supported by corporations.

We didn't "elect" Trump.

If he'd only shown his mittens before the election....he might well be president now.

Because 1) they're s**t scared of socialism and 2) the idea that they are a democracy is a farce

Because the "God" murica trusts in is MONEY.

Because even if he went into office it still stands house and senate run everything. Until we have more of him and AOC and a handful of others in office nothing......I mean nothing will change.
