I DREAM of becoming an astrophysicist and studying the universe. So for the easier time one, probably a telescope! The bigger thing to save for is university, preferably MIT!

I was into astronomy when younger and got away from it for years. Surprising how far the quality and abilities of the new equipment is, especially solar scopes. While saving up you can look for a local astronomy club, some have loaner scopes for members. There is even the odd library which have loaners.

I recently gave my skywatcher 200p to a friend of mine because it just wasn't getting used much. Not that I'm not still keen on astronomy, just that for someone with a disability it just got too hard to get it out to the yard and set up for a few hours use. There's an awful of weight in a decent mount and counterweights, nevermind the weight of the scope itself. Glad it's going to get more use in my friend's hands though...and I know he'll invite me along when he's using it. If I'd not had a friend who was also keen on astronomy, then I'd have looked for someone like you to give it to so good luck with your quest and happy stargazing :)

darksky.org has lists of where you can see the stars w/o light pollution. I lived in the country for over 30 years & moving to town was a huge revelation. Yes, we need streetlights for safety, but how much is too much?

I can relate. I had bad teeth for about 5 years and it8 was truly traumatic. People may say it doesn't matter but that's b******t. I lost my personality and couldn't get a decent job, despite being highly qualified. I couldn't get a full time job that would either pay enough for dental care or have dental benefits. I did the research; found a part time union job that paid about 70 percent dental care after 8 months of unemployment. It was embarrassing being judged by co workers and customers for 8 agonizing months. But. It. Finally. Paid. Off. It was one of the best days of my life!!. I slept with a compact mirror and bought lipstick for the first time in half a decade. You can do it too!! I'm rooting for you!!.

Paying off my student loan. Will be fully paid off in July next year unless I manage to pay extra money. But in max. 1 year I'll be debt free! After that I want to save up to have a good music player (for both cds and tapes) and a grammophone. And I have begun on a weight loss journey two days ago. I am doing it differently this time and I hope that it will work. ( no counting calories. Learning to love exercise. Have exercise be my goals instead of numbers on the scale. Stop comfort eating. Stop overeating. Cutting down on sugar and light-products....). I will save up to buy new clothes for when i have lost ca 20kgs and again when I have lost 35-40kgs. Music and clothes for a happier and prettier me. 🤘😎🤘

My husband has been using the same Macbook pro for about 12 years. It's a little slower than it used to be but surprisingly ok overall. But like others said, we don't need it for a lot of new software or anything super heavy-duty. I have a newer Dell laptop for that (but the charging port gave out in less than 6 months, I don't recommend. We have to leave the charger slightly out of the port and wrap in under the back of the computer to keep it taught)

To be fair, he's probably referring to requirements for new programs and/or games. A 7-year old PC should work fine physically, but would definitely have "issues" running new titles. And an SSD is defo super sketchy after a few years of heavy daily use!

    A professional oboe.

I’m an oboist and have a student model. I can’t reach a lot of notes because it’s missing a certain fingering. Professional grade oboes sound better, are made usually of granadilla wood, have higher quality keys (some are plated with silver), and can use different types of reeds instead of the standard cork style reed. I’m still in high school, so I’m saving my money for other things too. A professional grade oboe can cost somewhere around 10-15,000$.

Honestly didn’t know what an oboe was until I just looked it up. I realized that I’ve seen them many times and just always assumed they were some kind of flute

    Community Member
3 years ago Created by potrace 1.15, written by Peter Selinger 2001-2017

A lot of people confuse the oboe for a clarinet actually! I never even heard of someone considering it a flute until now. But yes, the flute And oboe are in the same pitch, but modern flutes get their fingerings from the oboe, but they are mainly similar. A flute can go higher than an oboe, but an oboe can play slightly lower than a flute. Oboe use a double Reed (two reeds placed together, but not completely together), while flutes don’t even use reeds. (Of course, that is a common fact). Oboe is considered one of the hardest instruments, but in reality, once you can use a Reed well, it gets really easy. I love playing my oboe. I’ve heard of people taking months to get a single sound out of a Reed, but I never had that problem. I could do it first try. There is another oboist in my band, and my band teacher is very surprised that there are two. I’m sorry, I just went on a random rant, but the oboe is an interesting instrument. I wish it got more recognition.

Similar to a mobile home. Manufactured or Modular homes are very nice these days. Looked at some today. Stick homes have skyrocketed. I saw a 1900sf 4/3 home with upgrades for $175,000. Stick home would be closer to $300k for that. But unless you have land, be prepared to pay $500-$600 a month for rental fees in a community. And the price doesn't include moving it, hooking it up, taxes, etc. But they're beautiful homes

I did too! It was really funny but unlike their parents, my parents support me but they don't want me to spend money on it and then change my sexuality. But they did say we could maybe go to the next pride parade (if the fam is feeling like it which I think is dumb) but hey. It's something.

I just hope you aren't in Florida. The real estate market prices have jumped 37% in the last year, and rental houses are now owned by corporations who charge exorbitant prices. I do hope that you are able to find something soon that is safe and comfortable.

A new pair of Doc Martens. I've had my current pair for about 4 years, but they have definitely been through hell and back after seeing nearly daily wear for that whole time. I came to call them my toe savers after using them to help lower heavy platforms so everyone else could get their fingers out. They are very scuffed up, the soles just aren't what they used to be, ect. I'm loathed to replace them because they've really become a part of my routine, silly as it sounds. But the universe recently sent me a sign to just do it through one of the laces beginning to wear away. So I'm planning on honorably retiring them and buying a new pair of Docs for the upcoming school year.

Is it a specific skirt or just one in general? If you know a few sewing basics, skirts can be done easily, even with a beginner. You can even turn old shorts or pants into a skirt, or any material, and anything can be the material. 😊 YouTube tutorials are helpful. You can also look at thrift stores, and get one cheap

At the moment it's a decent electric bicycle - I can't peddle a normal one anymore cause of lung damage from chemo but my missus really loves to ride her bike along the coast (we live about 200m from the sea). There are a few cheaper ones that I could get right now, but they're mostly crappier motors and firmly aimed more as 'peddle assist' ones that expect you to do half the work too... which I can't manage. I need one that's basically an electric wheelchair but bike shaped xd

I've seen how much full sized ones go for, so maybe this could be a good affordable ride. I hope you will eventually find one that you'll be happy with!

These refrigerators are actually brand new but they have to deal with some kind of law. Basically you can get one of those smart fridges with the screen for the price of a really really crappy fridge.
