Guy Brutally Roasts PETA On Twitter, And People Are Finally Realizing The Truth
Since 1980, PETA has made a name for itself as the number-one authority on animal welfare. UK-based YouTube vlogger Calum McSwiggan, however, wants people to consider otherwise, and recently used a scathing Twitter rant to sound off on the organization’s true colors.
After recent investigations, PETA has come under fire for a lot more than just the scantily clad women they use for marketing. In a March 2017 press release, the Center for Consumer Freedom revealed that PETA euthanized more than 1400 cats and dogs at its Norfolk, Virginia shelter in 2016. PETA defends their animal cruelty actions as ethically and economically necessary, but it’s becoming increasingly clear that their attention-grabbing media presence may be more important to them the animal rights and their lives, too.
McSwiggan’s savage roasts, that has now attracted over 6 thousand respective likes and shares is both shocking and resounding with Twitter users, most of whom had never dared to question PETA before. Follow the entire story and the best roasts below, and weigh in with your views at the end!

Share on FacebookI just assumed it was well known that peta is corrupt and does not practice what it preaches. Give to your local humane society.
It's not just PETA, unfortunately. The Red Cross built 6 homes in Haiti with half a billion dollars. These days I only give to the homeless, hungry people who approach me in the streets all the time.
Load More Replies...And let's not forget when they stole people pets just to prove how many abadoned animals are on the street, and then killed them...
They do that because the reality of their stance is they believe humans should not keep animals as pets, period. They either don't understand or don't care that most people love their pets and care for them like family.
Load More Replies...I've literally heard about this about 15 years ago or so... Man, I'm getting old.
Unfortunately, every generation has to learn it at some point. And cheers! You're not old, just well learned! (I'm with you on that one lol)

Load More Replies...If you're an American donate to the ASPCA instead. They're not extremists. Here in DC they, PETA, made a local stink about the "Bald Eagle Cam" last year. And they stand in front of the National Zoo scaring children with signs about how the zoo is slavery, showing pictures of mutilated animals, and trying to dissuade people from going in. Maniacs.
Knew about this for years. But keep on spreading the word that PETA is c**p and actually not free of animal cruelty themselves but still claiming it's better for the animals and all. And as for the human milk part in the Ben&Jerry's tweet, good luck trying to find enough women donating their milk that could actually be used to feed their child/ren or donate to hospitals who provide the donated milk to mothers who have trouble breastfeeding.
Peta is incredibly annoying and just for ruining that photographer's life alone do they deserve to be opposed.
This is hardly news. Hypocrisy exhibit a) The VP Mary Beth Sweetland, who is a diabetic, campaigned for a blanket ban on ALL animal testing. Never mind the fact she relies on insulin that has been tested and made with some animal products, but because she is fighting for the animals, it's ok. Other diabetics can just die I guess.
I'm also a type one diabetic (insulin dependent). You're right that animal testing has allowed us to find treatments that will work for human beings afflicted by diseases like this, but at this point, we also have a breadth of technology that will allow us to leave that behind.

Many man made fibers are made of oil derivatives and when you choose that almond milk over your local milk, you're paying for a product whose main ingredient is grown in drought-ridden California. A gallon of water is used for one single almond and more water is used to obtain the diesel used to ship it to the facilities that grind it, water it down and put it in cartons. Repeating the words "murder" and "pus" in no way makes it more environmentally friendly than my milk, which is produced and processed within my area code.
True. On the other hand. I drink it, not because it's a fad, but because sometimes I'd like to have a bowl of cereal and milk. I can't drink whole milk and I'm allergic to soy. I'm so glad I'm able to have an option. Almond milk is expensive though. I only buy once in a while.
Load More Replies...Sadly, I can't imagine that only PETA is like this. I can imagine that most NGOs are not better and became corrupted by greed years ago but to get some funding they push their media presence. Because of this, I only support local charities, as I can actually see where the cash is going
I worked with a guy that had been heavily involved in Greenpeace, he was invited to a New Year’s Eve party at their headquarters where they had all the alcohol and drugs you could want for free! He told me that’s where the majority of their donations go as all the people who actually do any good are always volunteers. To object to this he got a job working on an oil rig.

In early 2017 they enraged themselves about a Nintendo Switch cow milking game. How can these people hobe to be taken serious
I remember the Jägermeister story, too. It's a mess...or, more accurately, PETA is a mess. If only they'd put their time, energy and money where it really matters
Load More Replies...I can't stand PETA. They body shame people stating only skinny people can be vegans and vegans have better sex. You have to send a picture of yourself if you want to participate in any protest, they only accept who they think are attractive. They focus their adds on half naked people posing with animals. They are a joke. The research that I found on them when I once thought they were worth supporting quickly made me change my mind. I'm all about supporting animals but do not agree with the way they do things. This guy made some great points and I'm glad some people are realizing how ridiculous they are
www.petakillsanimals.com has been saying this for ages, and has shown the evidence of what peta really do with the money and how they treat animals in their care. Even Penn and Teller exposed peta and what they were about long before this kid did so. They are about the money and don't actually do anything to actually support animal shelters, but find it is cheaper to kill healthy animals than try to find them a new home.
How many pictures have we seen of animals and the abuse they have been through and PETA is now where to be seen. If they truly care for animals and there rights then how come they are not at the white house lobbing for tougher laws and tougher jail sentences. PETA is worthless in more was then one.
Adding this: I got sunburned today, risked arrest, and almost screwed up my life just to rescue a tiny feral kitten. She's almost freed, and I left her a carrier with two kinds of food and a blanket on it for insulation. F**k PeTA. I WILL SAVE FERAL KITTENS. FERALS NEED LOVE TOO. Right there, that tiny white ball of fluff, is just one reason Ingrid Newkirk and her cult of torture can just f**k off. babycat-59...e779e2.jpg

They killed a greater percentage than than the County Animal Control I worked for did and unlike us they were not forced to take every animal to walk through the door and kill animals to make room to meet those requirements if there were not enough adoptions to make the room like we were. I can not see how anyone could work there not to mention the films of milking of cows or shearing of sheep for wool that anyone who has ever seen farm life knows are total b******t. Also do you notice they never try any of their anti leather/fur with hard core bikers or hunters ie people that if they threw paint on them would stomp a mudhole in their a*s if not shoot them. No sympathy or respect for PETA
The destroyed a local cat rescuer here, all for publicity so they could rake in donations. The 'volunteer' they sent to his land (The Caboodle Ranch) pretended to be a volunteer, then staged photos and wrote false exaggerated reports, and animal control came in an confiscated every single cat, including his personal cat and would never tell him what they did with his cat. It was very eye opening to see what they did to this man. It was heart breaking and cruel. He devoted every penny and his entire life to help cats that nobody wanted, and they made him look like a monster in the news, and people believed it. SICK SICK SICK.
They are also know for taking pets right out of thier yards and euthanizing them. Right inna van parked near by.
They used the Khloe Kardashian in their PR campaigns against wearing fur when the Kardashians & Kanye are notorious for wearing fur!!!
I did not know they were that bad!!😢😢😢😢 They don't care about animals at all. This is why I take in animals from the street or go to a shelter and adopt. If you do take in a homeless animal, though, please take it to the vet for a check up to ensure its health and to correct any existing problems.
Blythe Cooper, how is PETA awesome? You can look up the story of Maya the dog. She is just one of hundreds.

People often think and trust that if a organisation is a charity or has a good cause then the organisation MUST be good and must be handling their money/action just. However in the end it all depends on the people working there. Most CEO;s just see charity as just another product. Instead of selling a Television they are selling starving african children of abused animals. Maybe if the CEO of charities could only earn a normal wage then it would only attract CEO's who are only in it for the cause and not the cash. But that's dreaming and probably will never happen.

She brought it to me because she couldn't read the words "disgusting" and "selfish", being only 7 years old she was very confused by why her game was telling her she was wrong to eat turkey! I deleted that game and found her the REAL Cooking Mama game.
Also, the first time I came in contact with a PETA person was just recently. There's a well known circus that came to the area and my husband and I brought our daughters because after this last tour, the elephants were to be retired and homed in a zoo setting, and I wanted my kids to get to see the circus the way I did when I was a kid. A woman from PETA was walking the line, shaming parents for bringing their children to the circus and handing out stickers of sad-looking elephants asking "Why won't you let me be free?" She walked up, handed my kids stickers before I could stop her and when I said "Excuse me, what are you giving my children without my permission?" she said "You didn't ask the elephants' permission to watch them be tortured so I'll give your misguided children whatever I want!" The only thing that stopped me from planting her a facer was the presence of about 200 kids.

Guys if you would like to make a difference to an animal charity, these guys are in desperate needs of funds as they are £4000 in debt. They are based in the Canary Island on Fuerteventura looking after and sterilising abandoned and feral cats and http://www.twinkletrust.org/.

Load More Replies...I have been saying this from the beginning! PETA is not for animals, it is for a movement that no human should have contact with an animal. They kill their rescued animals because they think the human contact has destroyed them anyhow. PETA has been caught setting up animals in painful situations, they have harmed animals to make videos to promote their cause. They state that a animal martyr is worthy for their cause. SICK. I HATE PETA! Friends of Animals and many other organizations are amazing to work with and support. <3
PETA is a joke, they save nothing and their ideas are so far away from reality that it's scary. Every day small rescues do more good than these idiots on a fraction of the money. If you want to save animals go volunteer at your local animal rescue, donate your time and if you can afford to, make a donation. Time has come for change, every rescue is full to overflowing, they need your help not hysteria.
PETA does a disservice to animals by some of their campaigns. Is the fur industry cruel? Yes Are animals in the circus treated poorly? Yes Was Obama killing a fly on live television animal something to throw a fit over? No
Killing the majority of animals given into their "care" (or stolen by them) is pretty low
Load More Replies...PETA has been coming out with more and more ridiculous ways to guilt people into unrealistic goals of turning the world into vegans. If they truly cared about the animals they would find a more realistic goal to strive for. How about pushing laws that impose strict rules over livestock producers and even stricter penalties for those that disregard those rules.
I support no kill shelters like Buddy Dog only. And not with money, they need pet supplies. They get money for rent from fund raisers and other sources. But they really need collars, leashes, cat litter, dog toys, dog walkers, people to volunteer time. There are so many other ways to help. PETA did change the fur industry but that is the only thing they changed . However if the time ever comes where I need to hunt a bear I will hopefully do what my ancestors did and use every part. My family does eat meat but we buy from a butcher that works with a local farm that kills only what's needed. The meat is fresh, untreated with chemicals, the animals are in a humane inviroment, and if you don't pick up your order on time to bad. Once the shop is out of meat it's not replaced until the next week.
I recall in the 1980s PETA entered a chinchilla ranch and opened the cages and released all the animals, so as to save them from the cruel death awaiting them. Hundreds of the animals ran out onto the nearby major freeway and were pulverizes by traffic that could not avoid them.
PETA is a joke... Has been for years... I was even taught in my Ag class about how corrupt they were... But some people stand and say 'no PETA is fantastic, blah blah blah' but many have realized just how corrupt this organization really is... It needs to be shut down as it causes more harm than any good (no good at all honestly). People who stand for PETA and throw temper tantrums when those who have seen the destruction first hand need to stfu and really see what PETA is really about- take the blinders off and really look and do some research (OMG actual work? Yes. Ignore the sad little commercials because odds are those animals 'they rescued' were put to sleep 'because we couldn't afford to take care of them'). Money hungry scumbags that's what this 'company' is all about. And sadly the only ones who suffer are the animals.
www.petakillsanimals.com Go and see what peta really do and spend their money on, and they have been saying it for a lot longer than this person has, and has backed up their reports with actual evidence. Even Penn and Teller exposed peta for what they really are, money grabbing scum that were more interested in the money than actually helping animals.
no i have seen where they are taking people cats and dogs off their own land killing them and leaving the family in in tears because they just basically killed one of their family members they need to be stopped and help accountable
I never really had hate towards PETA but one day I saw this brochure to donate and once I opened it I saw pictures of slaughtered pigs and noticed it was from PETA and that killed me inside, I'm a hue animal lover and would love nothing but to save them all but I would never help PETA they look for help in the most f****d up ways. I agree with everything that guy said.
It's great that more people are finally realising what a corrupt hypocritical 'charity' PETA are!
Harm. We have rescued dogs for almost 20 years now. Domesticated animals are domesticated, not tame. That means people have bred them for thousands of years for particular traits. Which very often makes them unable to survive in the wild. It would be cruel to turn them loose. And don't we have an obligation to those animals who did not ask to be born less resistant to pests and parasites, more likely to have broken bones, less intelligent? We have taken in stray dogs - unable to feed themselves adequately, unable to deal with their human bred excessive coat hair causing mats and skin lesions, unable to avoid or resist fleas, ticks, heartworm, ringworm, ear mites, distemper, parvovirus, distemper, rabies..... PETA is sick.
I really dnt give a f**k about peta, now bring me a double bacon cheeseburger ❤❤❤
Just look at the numbers... They're approaching 40,000 animals killed in the past two decades, where other animal shelters work with far more animals yet euthanize far far less than PETA. Not to mention the tens of millions of dollars PETA has at its disposal each year from donations... https://only-viral.com/peta-animal-shelter/
During a disaster they set up an animal shelter at a local fairgrounds. They charged people and raked in thousands of dollars. Then they abandoned them. Local folks stepped in to help.
I want absolutely NOTHING to do with PETA! I would never want to have my furbabies taken from me. They are family. I also know how corrupt they are and I find their tactics infuriating. How DARE they impinge on someone else's freedom to choose. I work with leather, because the leather I get comes from tanneries that get their leather from slaughterhouses. This insures that more of the animal is used, not wasted, and that is in keeping with my spiritual beliefs. Everytime I sit down to eat, I thank the animal who gave its life for me. I take NOTHING for granted. I also know that PETA would FREEZE to death in a Glacial event. Without leather & fur to keep you warm, you freeze. Period. However, the leather I use, is carved and dyed into beautiful things that bring people happiness to have, again in keeping with what I believe. I don't normally buy materials made from chemicals, like acetates (although sometimes I have to), or rayon, or polyesters as these fabrics MELT. Natural is better.
South Park got it all figured out many years before, when they depicted PETA as a bunch of hippies throwing buckets of animal blood to children for wanting the school mascot to be a cow xd
thats even better than people eating tasty animals. cause it shows how stupid they are.

Petas videos tend to be staged. They want to shock people so to be sure they get what they want they have thier reps harm the animals and film it.
Load More Replies...Its not just PETA. My boyfriend found an injured sparrow yesterday. I called everywhere (locally) to try and find a place who would try and rehabilitate the bird, provided its injuries werent so severe that rehabilitation was the humane thing to do. I understand that sometimes injuries prevent rehabilitation. So I called PAWS. I sent them a pic, so they could determine the species. Turns out it was a House Sparrow. PAWS would have immediately euthanized the poor bird. Why? Because House Sparrows are not native to North America. So, I found a wildlife rehab facility who would take it in, and determine the extent of its injuries. And if rehabilitation was possible, were more than willing to try. Later last night I read about House Sparrows on wikipedia. Turns out, theyre endangered in several parts of the world. So, to any animal lovers/advocates out there in the Seattle area, if you are looking for an alternate choice to donate to...PugetSound Wildlife Care in Black Diamond. They operate solely off of donations and volunteers and desperately need help.
I get that people want to save animals, but "not native to North America" means they can be invasive and damaging to the current ecosystem, which means endangering native species. So non-native species VS native species when they very likely have limited funds for treatments - yeah, I get it.
Load More Replies...I've heard a lot of horror stories come out of PETA and have known for yrs. to not trust nor give them money to fund their shady operation. There are a lot of animal shelters right in your own home town that you can donate to that will def. use your money to help animals in need. Try and find a no-kill shelter to support. You might be surprised how many of them are out there. One last thing, rescue your next pet instead of buying from a pet store or breeder. Mixed breeds live longer than purebreds and are much more healthier. Purebreds often suffer from too much interbreeding (breeding back to parents and other siblings over and over again)
I have never donated to peta because I couldn't afford it now I am glad I did not. I have never heard of peta coming to the rescue of abused animals. Individual people are the ones who rescue abused animals and bring them to shelters and the shelters give them medical care and lots of love. And they find forever homes for them. All peta does is preach. But they don't walk the talk. I did not know they killed animals. Euthanasia is just putting a more acceptable name for killing. If you want to donate donate to no kill shelters like best friends And boycott pet shops who sell cats and dogs. Pet smart and pet co hold adoption events every month.
Your poor grammar is forgiven, you have a valid point.

Peta should be known for what it is; a terrorist organization. They use scare tactics and even assault people to further their own agenda, which isn't helping animals, its lining they're pockets with actual concerned people's cash.
Peta's agenda is to get rid of all pets.the leader of one of the largest rescue shelters in the country stated that he would be perfectly ok if all pets became extinct because they are manufactured species. Every one of them are anti breeder. Good responsible breeders are not where all these dogs and cats in need of rescue are coming from. That is just their propaganda!! I hate these anti breeder, pet hating, hyperbole spouting fanatics.
Ingrid Newkirk. Remember the name. She's the "President" of PETA. She doesn't believe that people should own animals, even though our domestic dogs and cats were bred over centuries to BE human companions. She believes that pets are better off dead than being owned by humans. Personally, I believe the world would be better off without Ingrid Newkirk. I will not mourn her when it's her time to be "euthanized" by God.
In fact, we positive voted comments will happily dance on her grave.

Not all farms are evil those that PETA accuse of being evil are battery farms and others like that, you go into the country and most farmers care deeply about their animals and for them its a living. Instead of slamming all farms, concentrate on supporting the good ones where children can learn about proper animal management and care and where the animals are cared for. By doing that you will directly have a small impact on the 'evil farm' industry. Its money they would have otherwise. The British Hen Welfare Trust rehome ex battery hens. There is work out there that do a damn sight better than PETA.
I like that they threaten to kill fellow human beings because they hunt their on food. Way to go PETA. Such great people.
we are NOT fans of peta ...... haven't been for many, many years...... we do TNR and work feral fix clinics in our community
PETA and other groups that have amassed large followings and then abuse their influence on them... is just another example of the hubris any organized group can't help but fall into. These group promote "harmony" through the use of groupthink. It really is the best way to promote "harmony and cohesiveness" in a group. It's also particularly effective when it's reinforced by threats of ostracization if your behaviour goes against or criticizes their beliefs, methods or any other issue they can address to both placate and control their followers.
Pets is a cruel, heartless organisation. They want all pitbull breeds exterminated, they've been caught kidnapping innocent pets, and quickly killing them, violence, more bloodshed than a slaughter house, and caught in several lies. Why hasn't peta been shut down yet?
I think they are just too sneaky and they say that they are doing nothing, i think this issue should be brought to defined culture desert or kind apology land.

This is not PETA's fault. Stealing people's pets and killing animals in their care? HEINOUS. For reasons like that, I do not support the organization.
I have known about this groups egregious practices for some time now. I am glad others are finally learning the truth. Now if we can just do the same with Trump...
Wow. I can't believe I was once so blind! PETA is more brutal than most people that they target...
Ingrid Newkirk, PETA co-fonder and President, has written many Books. In one of her Books she talks about the time when she worked in a animal shelter. She wrote: “I would go to work early, before anyone got there, and I would just kill the animals myself… I must have killed a thousand of them, sometimes dozens every day.” PETA is not a Animal Rights or Animal Protection organisation. PETA is a Cult just like Scientology. They even share the same Law Firm.

It's extremist idiots like PETA that gives vegans and vegetarians a bad name and undermines everything real animal rights campaigners do. They are vicious spoilt brats who don't like it if anyone tries to challenge their views. I am a vegetarian and I believe strongly in animal rights which is exactly why I DONT support maniacs like these. Not to mention their damn right hypocrisy. NO HEALTHY CAT OR DOG SHOULD EVER BE PUT TO SLEEP!! if they couldn't afford to look after them there's PLENTY of no kill shelters they could transfer them to! There is literally no excuse what so ever. How can they scream and shout at the meat industry for killing farm animals whilst at the same time euthanising 1000s of animals -_- that alone strips them of any validity in any of their arguments.
This is not news.... BP's titles are so ridiculous. However, it IS important to remind people about terrible organizations like Peta. So well done that.
Not to mention stopping hunting which causes overpopulation of deer. More deer started to death because of overpopulation than would've been hunted
It's better to fund local sanctuaries and smaller groups doing vegan outreach. PeTA have been using the same tactics for years, and it largely causes controversy, attention for their organisation and not much else.
"controversy, attention for their organisation" you forgot the thing most important to them: Donations

3) PETA has given tens of thousands of dollars to convicted arsonists and other violent criminals. This includes a 2001 donation of $1,500 to the North American Earth Liberation Front (ELF), an FBI-certified “domestic terrorist” group responsible for dozens of firebombs and death threats. During the 1990s, PETA paid $70,200 to Rodney Coronado, an Animal Liberation Front (ALF) serial arsonist convicted of burning down a Michigan State University research laboratory. In his sentencing memorandum, a federal prosecutor implicated PETA president Ingrid Newkirk in that crime. PETA vegetarian campaign coordinator Bruce Friedrich has also told an animal rights convention that “blowing stuff up and smashing windows” is “a great way to bring about animal liberation,” adding, “Hallelujah to the people who are willing to do it.” https://www.consumerfreedom.com/articles/134-7-things-you-didnt-know-about-peta/
I dont think they understand what the word ethical means. Did they just throw that E in there because the liked the way it sounded, and needed to dodge a lawsuit from the parent teacher association?
i have read up on Peta many years ago and knew the harm they were doing to thhe the animals they so said they took care of they sure did take care of them they murdered them and also read they would sell the dead dogs and cats to a company where dog and cat food were made so our babies were eating their own kind. you can reads up on it what happens to the dead cxats and dogs that peta kills at their shelters there you will find out what murderes they are never ever donate to them they dont care about animals only themselfs and fill their own pockets
I have given up on so called charities(Salvos Unicef & many many others) as most of the money collected goes into their own pockets.
Lions international is one of the good ones 100% of money they receive goes to the intended purpose
Load More Replies...It's sad how nuts it's founders policies have become. They changed the world of animal welfare especially regarding animal research and the making of fur coats.
I have been saying this from the begining! PETA is not for animals, it is for a movement that no human should have contact with an animal. They killl their rescued animals because they think the human contact has destroyed them anyhow. PETA has been caught setting up animals in painful situations, they have harmed animals to make videos to promote their cause. They state that a animal martyr is worthy for their cause. SICK. I HATE PETA! Friends of Animals and many other organizations are amazing to work with and support. <3
I knew nothing about this and have signed and shared countless petitions originated by PETA. Seems incredible that you cannot trust people in who we place our trust. I'm saddened and disappointed. But they are not alone as many charities have dubious reasons for existing.
I agree with some of this but I would like to know where all these animals should go. It is extremely sad when any animal is euthanized but what happens when no one will take responsibility for them. We all know that there are so many because people do not take responsibility and neuter or spad(spelling)there pets. Should they live in a cage for the remaining years? I despise seeing animals penned up.
You just have to look at their ethos of "freeing the animal slaves" which ends up basically being a pet holocaust. Google the time they stole some kids dog and then returned the severed head on the porch a week later. They have no intention of rehoming pets with new owners. If thats you, donate away!
PETA, along with Greenpeace, have been terrorists for decades. They are all about freaking people out to increase their donations, little of which ever go to help animals. Donate to the no - kill shelters. They actually do help animals.
#istandwithmaya A couple of years ago, there was a family of four, a mom, dad, a teenager, and a little girl. They had a dog named Maya. One day, the dad let the dog out (to use the potty) and Peta comes in their truck, all like, "Hey you can't abuse your dog like this, you need to let her come inside." Of course the dad explained the situation. Then he went back inside, presumably believing the matter was over. However, the PETA truck came back. Maya was sitting on the porch, with food and water. The driver came out and roughly grabbed Maya after she backed away, barked and growled. They put her in the van and drove off. The dad comes out a couple minutes later to get Maya and sees that she's gone. He calls PETA and asks what happened, and they hang up on him. About 45 minutes later, he gets a call bacm that Maya was euthanized. Honestly. That dog was happy as could be, and then they pick her up for the sole reason of euthanizing her. You can do your own research on the topic as well.
They pick and chose the animals that they will "Help" from week to week...they did nothing about the killingg of Dolphins as a rite of passage to manhood!! Will never support them.
Thank you!!!!!! I have been aware of PETA's kill rate for about a decade now and can't believe more people haven't heard of it. They don't believe in dogs and cats being in yards or homes....as 'they should all roam free'. I have never, nor will I ever,, support this organization. Please adopt, don't shop, and support your small, local no-kill (for real) shelters. PETA is absurd!!!!!!!!
By their standards "roaming free" is being murderized.
Load More Replies...PETA is terrible! Hopefully more people will do the research and realize that they don't deserve our support. You would think based on their organization's title that they are real do-gooders...but sadly they are very misguided and do much more harm than good. The only thing positive about them in my opinion is their mobile low cost spay neuter clinics. Otherwise true animal lovers should not support them. Instead research your local rescue organizations and give them your money, old towels and blankets, food donations and your time. Much more efficient use of resources for hard working folks who actually make a difference for the animals.
There's nothing good about Peta at all. Peta in a nutshell is the South Park episode that makes fun of them. A bunch of crazy idiots that marry and screw their animals. Give to a local rescue or shelter instead.
I wonder how many trees they kill to send out all the Flyers to try to get money sent to them they have probably killed the quite a few Force by now which also takes away while life's homes. I wrote them a letter more than 20 some years ago stating this and I have never heard from them since because they knew I was right.
PETA isn't perfect, but they absolutely have made a difference. I have called them in a variety of their efforts when I found them or their tactics questionable, but fact is--"animal rights" was a concept that was barely on the map before PETA's inception.
I consider them "animal terrorists" but they do have a couple of good points. I still don't agree with their tactics.
Load More Replies...I worked at a chain pet store. Some PETA freaks came in and wanted to buy all of the finches we had. When I asked why, they said they were going to set them free. I laughed and said no. They couldn't grasp the concept that an act like that would result in the deaths of all the domestically raised birds, who didn't know how to forage for food in the wild. I finally had to tell them to leave or I would have my manager call the cops. They were shouting their rhetoric as they left. I just shook my head in disbelief. PETA doesn't give two shits about animals.
I mean it wouldn't surprise me, since a LOT of people in this world (and companies) tend to do the opposite of what they promise. Kinda like most of the politicians.
I have stopped funding any / all NGOs. Directly helping is the best way to go rather than helping these unethical and evil people get rich.
Yeah! shove a single numeral down their throat!
Load More Replies...Sadly, the media will continue to point to PETA as a wonderful, caring organization... And probably get well paid to do so.
Im no fan of PETA, but this article seems to be empty everything in the garbage can at them. YES< give to your local humane society. DONT waste money on PETA.. But this is a WEIRD article. ben and jerrys is everybody favorite. They are now owned by the Monstanto of Europe- Uniliver. Not my favorite anymore. Human milk is a ploy as is the Monkey selfie- to make a point most of their members agree with- animal sovereignty. Im not for it, Im for partnerships, but this article is really goofy
Lost faith in PETA after they tried to shut down Tamil Nadu's Jalikattu...there is a REASON for that tradition and it's NOT to distress OR kill the bulls. In fact, AFTER PETA shut it down, farmers weren't able to pay to care for the bulls and had to put down several of them or sell them. Seriously PETA, pick a worthy freaking cause! And do it effectively.
Kinda seems to me like they guy who saved his dog from the kanga would have pissed them off no matter what. They would have been after him for not saving the dog if he hadn't. Damned catch 22. Damned if ya do, damned if ya don't.
It is well known PETA hasnties to terrorist organizations. Or should I say organizations that use use terrorist tactics..........
We have an animal charity who claim they never put a healthy dog down. So every dog that has a medical problem is killed, read between the lines and you will know that all these so called charities are really businesses. The muppets who work for free (the feel good factor is their wage) and the Directors and top management who have immense salaries. Sadly the General Public have been groomed to believe that a Charity is actually a charity and not a business and pour their hard worked money in to the coffers so that those at the top get a good life style.
PeTA literally steals animals from loving homes. How anyone can still defend them is beyond me.
I've always thought this about these kind of extremist animal rights groups like shac too. They break into labs and released animals into the wild. And they released mink pine martens from a fur farm into the wild with far reaching consequences on the wildlife and structure of the ecosystem. Introducing this predator has created competition for our less voracious wildlife. It just shows a complete lack of actual knowledge on the subject they claim to be so passionate about. They may have freed a few hundred animals in one day however the consequences of that action on a whole ecosystem reaching from the apex all the way down is profound.
Peta is all about Faking Videos to ruin honest peoples lives...Farmers or Zoos etc...They don't let Honesty get in the way of Pushing their Agenda...They will Fake a Video to make their case look legit....PETA is just like B.L.M. all about Bullying and Terrorizing to get into News Headlines...
You can, and it is best to check ALL organizations before giving money. Places like Wild Aid and Panthera are grass roots organizations without millionaire CEOs like HSUS (which is NOT associated with your local Humane Society). Giving to the local Humane Societies and no-kill shelters will do more good for the animals and you get more of your money to them. The larger the organization the more your money is spread out to advertising and paying their employees. No-Kill shelters often have volunteers. PETA does do some good but they are really whacked a lot of the time.
Peta even says that Seeing Eye dogs for the blind is "Slavery". Any money they spend on asking for donations is written off as "education". The only smart thing they have done is come with a name for themselves. Who isn't for ethical treatment of animals? Please do not support them!
They lost me years ago when they equated a child's life with that of a rat. Really?
So that means PETA is worth to a rat! They have opened up an opportunity to be insulted!
Load More Replies...I have never donated money to peta because I couldn't afford it. Now I am glad I didn't. I have never heard of peta rescuing abused animals. Individual people usually rescue abused animals. And shelters take them in and give them medical care and lots of love. And they find them forever homes. PETA just preaches. They don't walk the talk. I never knew they killed animals. Euthanasia is just a accepted term for killing. If you want to donate, donate to no kill shelters like best friends. And boycott pet shops that sell kitties and puppies. Pet smart and pet co do not sell cats and dogs. They have adoption events every month.
Remember PETA and the fly? http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2009/06/peta-says-no-more-flykilling-sends-obama-a-humane-fly-catcher-.html
A "Humane FLY catcher" is the stupidest idea. They bring Disease, and you don't need a fly catcher at all, a spider usually does well.
Load More Replies...PETA is horrible. I first realized this in the 70s when I filled out one of their little cards (had a bunny on it - was talking about unnecessary testing on rabbits by the cosmetic industry - which was a real thing BTW) They sent me this magazine cause I gave them $5 & in it they advocated vegetarian diets for CATS. So I wrote telling them it would kill the cat, & wow! I became yet again a daughter of Satan (I'm a witch, an old hippie, a progressive liberal, a woman's libber - so I've got called that a lot LOL)
I asked pETA to help rehome my 2 healthy cats because my newborn was allergic to them. They told me to put them to sleep because it was too cruel to keep as pets. A volunteer then spoke up and took them. I called her a week later and she said she euthanized them to keep them from "captive" as pets.
Any RADICAL organization whether it's animal rescue, religious fanatics, anyone in a ruthless pursuit should never ever be trusted to factually represent itself. Peta is an example of false advertising, playing on the emotions of unsuspecting and/or those not "in the know". Check out the targets of your donations carefully. There are quite a few out there who REALLY deserve your hard earned monies. Please don't just send a few bucks just because one of their ads made you sad.
One of the greatest circuses, shattered.
Load More Replies...What I see is,if these global organizations were doing what they claim for taking care over poor humans and animals ,having states funding and personal donations, there shouldn't exist proverty and abusition no more,so,they are a lie, just another way for some "rich cheaters"to have their hand in our pocket. There is no man or woman who wants to spend his/her life to save the world, once we realise this for good we can throw away any form of globalism and do the small actions within our powers, our places, which is enough. We do this all, there you have the real globalisation.
I've heard all this before about Peta so I stopped donating, instead, I donate to small individual animal charities !!
I can't for the life of me understand how this band of worthless hypocrites has remained in operation to this day. As far back as the late 90s or early 2000s they were classified as a terrorist group. Why hasn't the American government made any moves to shut them down?
They need to stay in their own lane. It's frustrating because some of their efforts are valid and important. Recently they've gone up against TNR (trap, neuter, return) for cats.
I''ve never trusted PETA or given them any money. Extremism in the name of "doing good"is abhorrent and irrational.
I don't understand how celebrities still endorse them - someone like Bill Maher surely has access to the interwebs!
PETA is cruel. Fake reports. Money they get is used to pay for themselves. Not the animals.
PETA are a bunch of damned loonies. I've never taken them seriously and don't understand why anyone would.
Any organization based on violent, visceral sensation is no better than those purposing violence as the best solution to a disagreement. Their model is, in simple terms, not in harmony with the wondrous flow of nature. The best gifts are those which uphold virtue through witness; small acts of kindness, the advocacy of communication, encouraging the value of peaceful education.
peta is a disgusting organisation. people should ask for their dismantling by the government.
They petitioned GW about furs on Warhammer modele LOL and also https://youtu.be/vpTHi7O66pI worth watching if u care about Earths climate change
A decade or so ago, a local chapter of PETA talked their way in to a pre school so they could give the toddlers a presentation about animals. That's what they told the owner of the daycare service. They showed the kids one of their classics, full of video taken inside of slaughter houses, the daycare owner told them to stop and said it was way over the top and completely inappropriate for young children. The PETA chapter of course defended their "telling the truth" to the kids.
I'm all for humane treatment of animals. For example, I don't eat beef veal because of the way those cows are raised. When it comes to eating chicken I try to buy free range chicken rath t than chicken from a farm where the animals are cooped up all their lives (like the owe for beef veal). But for the most part, PETA is nothing but a terrorist type organization trying to shame and guilt people about other things that are simply natural to life. It's natural for us to eat meat. I prefer to think PETA means People Eating Tasty Animals.
This latest escapade of theirs, financially ruining that photographer by claiming his rights to the selfie are the monkey's, has put me off PETA for life. I saw an interview he took part in on TV. He is a very worried man and does more for wildlife than this stupid organisation does. They are just wasting the funds people have donated to them by this ridiculous stance. Down with PETA!!
He's right about pets going after small sustainable farms. http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/2007076
PETA are evil. Nuff said. They're the biggest bunch of hypocrites out there.
This is a grey situation. I can't believe are wrong or right with no concrete evidence. However, I HAVE grown suspicious. Just an opinion.
I have known about PETA's true nature for many years. I don't understand why people, especially celebrities, continue to support them. They kill just about every animal they bring in. They have even been known to go to pet owners and request they turn over their pets to them. They then have the pets euthanized almost immediately. They don't believe animals should be kept as pets. Sometimes, they have hundreds of animals euthanized at one time, emotionally devastating staffs at the veterinarian centers they use. This group is sleazy and underhanded. No one should support them.
My local shelter was doing a fundraiser, and one of the volunteers stole over $500 worth of donated cash right from the completely volunteer- and charity- run shelter! I went down to my local Wal-Mart when I heard that and bought 100lbs of dog food and 80lbs of cat food and brought that down instead. Let's see a thief put THAT in a pipe and smoke it! I love animals, but PETA is crazy as can be, and people like them can be found all over the place, in groups and as individuals! I don't even donate money anymore, just actual, useful items!
I gave up on PETA ages ago. They are nothing but spoiled brats trying to destroy animals AND people - whoever they can get their hands on, basically! For me, the letters PETA just stand for People for the Eating of Tasty Animals now, and nothing more.
Any HUGE organization is in it for the money. It's the little, local organizations that people need to support. Those are the folks that are making the biggest difference.
PETA is not about saving animals, it's about people who want to control other people
Thanks for this article! I didn't know this. I don't have any money to donate to anyone. And for Red Cross, they don't use all donated money for others, so they only get my blood.
Thanks for the education. I had no idea that Peta was guilty of such hypocrisy, cruelly & deception. Truly sickened by what I read in your posts.
I always have said, skin a Peta member, save a baby seal, or baby fox.
Behind that false veil of animal savers, they're more savage than anyone I could even think of. The whole vegan propaganda was initiated and funded by them. It's about time that this organization came to a crashing end.
I want to put PETA in a rocket, and crash them into the sun.
Load More Replies...PETA isn't helping, only spreading hatred for people and human civilization...when what is truly needed is better laws and enforcement in livestock. The animal cruelty people know little about actual animals....for instance, little broiler chickens are much happier crowded together for their short lives than in free range...which scares them. It's laying hens that love to roam freely. Animals are not humans. I don't think PETA is about animals, I think it's fascist.
PETA is a disgrace. They should be shut down. They actually advocate killing ALL Pit Bull type dogs. They make me sick.
peta is as bad as any animal abuser out there ..they do more harm than good
I would never trust a big organisation because its priority is always to maintain itself and its image.
Help us help keep these fur babies alive Walk Me Home Rescue Group is looking for foster families and funds. Follow the link to our tupperware fundraiser tiny.cc/WalkMeHomeTup
they are liars and a terrorist organization, HSUS is not much better ... donate locally if you want to donate, don't donate to big business because that's what they are
Not to mention they support BSL. Also have no problem demeaning women in order to get their point across by having them walk around naked on Hollywood BLvd attempting to protest wearing fur.
PETA Kills animals to save the money they milk out of the gullible for their hedge funds lawyers and executive salaries, their top expence each year is freezers to keep the carcasses until the tallow truck comes to turn all the dead animals into cosmetics products, hypocrites at the highest level.
Guys, I did set up a crowdfunding campaign in IndieGogo/Generosity to help David the photographer that went broke because of all of this. https://www.generosity.com/fundraising/help-david-slater-aka-monkey-selfie-photographer Is it possible you could help me spread the word about this campjavascript:void(0);aign, in order to give a helping hand to David. Thanks!
PETA is not only corrupt but the organization is ignorant on current animal science. They take a very mentally and socially unstable approach to public outreach. They kill most of the animals they "rescue" and think that is okay. That is NOT okay.
The obvious thing not mentioned is the head of PETA is a complete arrogant, rude, self absorbed, insane ego maniac!! Wouldn't want to forget the real reason PETA is as terrible as they're!! Ingrid Newkirk has multiple mental issues just ask anyone that has ever worked for her!?
Animal Lovers should just donate to Betty White Animal Care / she is a proven guardian or all four legged mammals - Damn PETA look at their salaries ! etc. I'm sure unsuspecting older animal lovers are leaving their estates to PETA in their wills.
PETA? It's not just PETA, it's dozens of organizations. HSUS, Compassion Over Killing, ASPCA, Animal Liberation Front, even Farm Sanctuary. None of these organizations is what it claims to be. activst-web.jpg
Years ago PETA made headlines not just because they euthanized so many pets but because they did it by dumping them in a giant walk-in freezer. One of their main people is diabetic and has to use insulin made tgrough cows, she claimed it was ok because she did more good alive. This group is classified as a terrorist organization.
PETA is awful. They would rather see animals dead than being taken care of by loving people who see them as family. PETA isn't just against animal cruelty or people who abuse animals--they're against all humans having pets of any kind, or taking care of animals at all. They don't seem to understand that for most pets and humans it's a mutually beneficial symbiotic relationship wherein we provide food, shelter, and love, and they give us love and companionship in return--and sometimes protection, depending on the animal. I can't stand PETA.
I remember when I was young and had a love for animals.... I believed in PETA... but then I learned more and more things about it and found it is not what I thought it really was... I still love the animals and I will do what ever I can to care for them.. and be a voice... thank you for sharing your experiences...
He never mentioned the most obvious reason not to support PETA. They use threats of violence and destroy private property for a political issue. That is the definition of terrorism. Last time I checked, PETA was on the FBI's list of known terrorist organizations.
PETA is nothing but a fraud. If you actually want to be an advocate for wildlife and their habitat support groups such as the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, National Wild Turkey Federation, or Trout Unlimited. Your money, through these organizations, goes directly to the conservation of wildlife. They are also very transparent about where funds are allocated. PETA does NONE of this
F**k PETA! The people that are involved with that whole organization are idiots and need to be removed from the world. Eating meat is the best and I will never give that up. The can eat of the s**t they want and I bet they eat actual s**t from the smell of them types of people. I hope they go away and fast. I don't and will not donate any money to them or any other place like them.
Always have gone with local rescue societies that respond well to calls, etc. If they're not willing to help or talk they aren't supported. Most work by fostering animals, not caging them.
PETA as an organization, is by no means unimpeachable. As a vegan, I've stayed away from them -- contributing instead to Farm Sanctuary, Compassion Over Killing, Toronto Pig Save, etc. But I fear that only two things will be gleaned from this "outrage". 1) this guy's personal brand and list of followers will increase and 2) by misdirecting said outrage on the 30k cats and dogs PETA euthanized, people will continue to have no qualms about continuing to eat factory farmed animals -- a system which kills 56 BILLION animals every year (just land animals -- that doesn't count fish). It's part of what I call the "blank round principle". Put a random blank cartridge in one rifle in a firing squad, and all 12 riflemen sleep better.
But farm sanctuary is webbed to PETA.
Load More Replies...The problem with PETA, the church, and any other big organization is that they are composed by people... And people -as you might have heard- are prone to corruption, favoring personal interests and making mistakes (some of them due to misguided good intentions). So, I always try not to generalize or judge, I am sure some people are doing a good job there, and some issues are hard, I have adopted lots of pets and I suffer non stop because of pets on the street, and sometimes the best option is humane euthanasia and using funds to educate people and to neuter dogs to improve the situation in the future. (just in case someone is wondering I dont work with peta or have ever given money to peta, I live in Colombia and work with small organizations that sometimes have the same problems)
What else is new? This information is readily available to anyone willing to educate themselves. People, check the organizations you support, it really is not that hard. And I thought anyone in their right mind knew by now that PETA is just a bunch of wackjobs.
Money corrupts! Our societies through money at problems to enable us to feel good about "doing something about it." When our money does not do what it is supposed to do, we pick up stones or howl in the media. Come on people, take real responsibility. Take in cats, dogs, and other pets that have no homes. Look after the sick. Feed the feral ones in your neighborhood yourself. We allow the PETA's and SPCA's to use our money at their discretion and then cry when they abuse it. Wake up, everyone, we all have to take responsibility for your neighborhood, workplace, schools etc.
I was involved with this organization in my much younger days. I was invited to a "rally" in my city, I went, only to find out that there were plans to commit illegal activities that night. Nine of us refused to participate in breaking the law, we were asked to leave, we left. They were caught and it was all over the news and newspapers in our area. Many people had a criminal conviction to add to their resumes after that night. I found out many years later, the reason we were asked to leave was so that if it wasn't sideways we couldn't testify against the ringleaders-that didn't stop us from making witness statements after the fact, I absolutely despise this organization.
It takes people like Calum to expose groups like this. They seem to have very extreme views. I am finding it so scary that a group that sets itself up to protect animals is so corrupt. Has there been any attempt to get this group to explain their actions? I will definitely not be donating to them in the future. My money will be going to my local dog or cat rescue centre.
Halo... halo.... halo.... We have rescued 2 pups from halo 😇 We love our babies and could not imagine someone hurting them let alone dumping them like they did . Perhaps some one will be smart and creat a sterilization method that is both pain free and cheep to administer. If an animal breeder wishes to be in business raising and selling pets, they should pay a fee for keeping them fertile. As such each fertile animal as a result should be registered with animal welfare to maintain a healthy population of pets rather than unwanted and miss treated and abused and then abandoned animals . Just my thoughts! After we see how well a program such as this works then we should do it to the human race !
Well, personally, when they tried to condamn a video game with fishing activities, and some plastic figurines for furred armor ... so basically trying to save a serie of 1 and 0, and some imaginary carbon animal ... instead of doing "real" things like building refuges or else, I've lost all consideration for them.
Well, when you realize that PETA spent his money to attack virtual animals killer, like fishing in video games or furred armor on PLASTIC figurines, I think it's already enough to prove they waste time and money. Sadly.
I too distrust PETA. It's motives, it's tactics, it's everything. Something about the organisation has never rung true. Can't say why, it's an instinct. A gut instinct. If I was a cat every time I heard or read it's name, my fur would stand on end and I'd hiss, spit and growl.Twice, or is it thrice, I've unsubscribed from their newsletters, unfollowed them, yet still they come. My advice, avoid them like the plague.
Peta needs to be closed down or someone new with the welfare of these animals needs to be in charge. All ANIMALS MATTER no matter what the breed
I use PETA to sign petitions and to get a message out. I never donate money to them. Only to local rescues and such. PETA's use of their undercover footage is shocking but it does motivate one to get angry enough to do something.
I don't agree with donating money to the "big" charities. Most of the money is never seen by the animals or people in need. Want to support an animal charity? Donate to aspen wildlife sanctuary. Donate to your local shelter. Whether it's the animal shelter or a men's or women's shelter. Donate to Habitat for Humanity. There are so many good causes that the money goes to the ones in need, not to those who want a nice paycheck.
A year or so ago I also posted the information about euthanising dogs and how PETA were not for the animals at all really. The information has all been out there for a while, together with info on the RSPCA (in the UK - I don't know about other countries) only doing something for the animals when there's a camera or reporter around. Bad organisations indeed!
his videos are not only motivational, but they are thoughtful also. No, I am not trying to advertise his channel just think it is something worth your time.
PETA is awful! They are the biggest proponent to bully breed bans. If they had their way there would be no pit bulls anywhere. They would kill them all! They think all feral cats should be trapped and killed rather than trapped, fixed, vaccinated and released. They do not believe people should have animals as companions and would just as soon kill every pet on the planet. They are horrible!! Do not support their killing afforts.
the "arms of the angel" animal cruelty vid& peta slaughter vids are too much 4me. The approach isn't 4everyone.There R better ad options
THANK YOU CALUM!! I have been telling people this for YEARS! Any time I dared to say ANYTHING against them, I was viciously attacked by others! Donate your money to a small rescue! ALL of their workers are volunteers AND ALL of the money you donate goes DIRECTLY to the care of the animals! (not the upper echelon of the staff!) The Humane Society is NO better!
I'm totally horrified, I had no idea...im disgusted and will be spreading the word about this despicable organization every chance I get
They also have targeted children and been sued for disturbing images of butchering of animals to five year olds. there was a documentary done that showed the original founder who actually was so against the practices of did they forced him out. they are a bunch of propaganda artists. I am the neice a textile weaver and a uncle has sheeps, my aunt works with the wool and has people walk up and say they "did you know they murder a 100 sheep for a pair of socks" and "they skin them to get their wool". Then my aunt has explain to grown adults has you shave sheep and how hard it to process wool off skins because it tangles (felt) and cannot be spun not mention not economic and how uncle her husband is the farmer and how they have some of sheep 10+ years and then had people STILL argue or hand her Peta with sing song tone
I just remember really ticking some PETA people off on the computer once. I linked them to scientific experiments showing plants show signs of sentience, then told them plants can stay alive after cutting them and at least I kill my food before I eat it. I don't think the suggestions they had for me were physically possible...
If you surrender your pet to them to adopt out to somewhere else it's probably going to be dead before it leaves your driveway. There is a big case in North Carolina about them dumping dog corpses into a dumpster behind a grocery store. They also used to teach that sheep were skinned and held on tiny boots for months at a time for their wool. Like what?
PETA has always been a horrible organization. I've never understood why people back them?
PETA is by far the most hypocritical, dishonest, and unethical organization I've ever had the misfortune of encountering. They are like jihadists in their tactics, and they care one whit about people or the animals they claim to protect. Holy mother of god I hate this organization.
I work in the sheep industry where they say its cruel to dock lambs tails and shear sheep but if you ever seen a poor little lamb with half its bottom eaten out by flies and crawling with maggotts or a sheep that was missing for several years and ended up carrying a 30 kg fleece made it blind and un able to walk. Peta needs to offer a better option for the sheep other than to just stop and let the sheep die a crewl offensive slow death. In our industry animal mistreatment is a sackable offense. And i would not be able to do my job if i didnt know the impact on the sheep if they where not cared for by the farmers and shearers.
I love animals. I love my cats, all cats. Any animal organization who tries to say cats should be fed a vegan diet have no clue about animals at all. Cats are not vegetarian. If they are not fed meat they will die. Period. They need do not have the ability to live off non meat products like dogs can. They are the most idiotic, hateful, and fear inciting groups of wannabe animals lovers that I have ever seen. PETA is not helpful in the least. I'm surprised they aren't going after people for having pets. If they loved animals they would know how to care for each individual animal and know that humans are animals too. We also require meat. if we were not carnivores we would not be able to digest the meat we consume. This group is a bunch of morons.
It is also known now that PETA has lost it's "rescue" title and is now listed as a home-grown terrorist group, and is under watch by Homeland Security, among others. Do not fund these people!!!
PeTA thinks all pit bull terrier type dogs need to die. All of them. Even my service dog. bubba-serv...22652b.jpg

Well I became a bit suspicious that PETA was corrupt I was was really angry about that but now I know for sure. I'm angry that I actually believed they were a well meaning group of people. I also vaguely remember something like them trying to get Pit Bulls banned in more cities or something like that, it was something against Pit Bulls. It takes a lot to make me actually hate something but I can tell you for sure that I honestly hate PETA, I know it's strong but sometimes something this cruel and disgusting needs to be spoken about using stronger words than just "PETA is mean I don't really like them anymore"
It's a shame this white man didn't bother to comment on PETA's appalling sexism, racism and body-shaming. Sure - it's bad that they're pursuing that photographer and so on - but women are suffering and dying because of the sexualised objectification we suffer - and PETA thinks it's ok to show images of beautiful young women - naked, bloodied and literally butchered. And in another campaign they shame rape victims by telling them that what happened to them was no worse than what happens to animals - conveniently forgetting that women ARE treated like animals - by men.
It's a shame this white man didn't bother addressing PETA's appalling sexism and racism. Maybe it just didn't seem that big a deal to him. Chack out the following - and if you don't understand what's wrong with the relentless naked, conventionally-attractive young women depicted bloodied and sliced up like meat, you need to examine your misogyny: http://veganfeministnetwork.com/tag/peta/ https://mic.com/articles/158513/appalling-new-peta-ad-compares-rape-victims-to-animals#.1F7lUD9nq http://bennorton.com/peta-has-horrible-sexist-racist-politics/
PETA is a just another greed driven charity that is run by cons to entice people into giving more money for an unrealistic cause. People are animals as well but they would probably kill our homeless saying that they are taking up space that should be occupied by the rats and pigeons that are supposed to be on the streets. I am an animal lover and support "NO KILL SHELTERS". Not " let's kill them kindly because it's more humane". Kiss my a*s tell me not to eat beef, chicken, or fish but then kill all the cats and dogs because they can't afford to shelter them. Big lies and hipocrisy and bigots to any outside arguments as to why they are wrong. You can give them facts real facts and they will argue that they aren't true and your being duped. When all along they are duping everyone with their campaigns on animals.
And their stupid campaigns against fox hunting that has seen a dramatic increase in fox numbers and a decrease in Australian native animals. https://www.google.com.au/url?sa=i&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=images&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwiz-5rG85jVAhWBw7wKHdR7CwMQjRwIBw&url=https%3A%2F%2Ftracyroutresearch.wordpress.com%2F2013%2F07%2F19%2Feradication-of-foxes-in-tasmania-absence-of-proof-isnt-proof-of-absence%2F&psig=AFQjCNFQoLOXdF_MxfzMkV3j8zkJPaEt8A&ust=1500675895280354
I have never given to PETA because it never felt right to me. Now, I am glad I didn't. These poor animals are saved only to be euthanized. Tragic. They oppose the TNR program for keeping cat colonies under control instead of them constantly breeding. I think they go too far with some of their beliefs. When I want to support an animal charity, I will donate to a local no-kill shelter or a rescue. This is appalling. I thought they might not be what they claim to be but this is sick. I am sad for all the healthy animals that could have found a forever home that were euthanized. I hope more people wise up and stop sending money to these murderers.
PETA routinely kills Pit Bulls and their puppies rather than advocate for the breed or for sterilization. Puppies are routinely tossed into plastic trash bags and the bags are tied shut suffocating the babies. Apparently, the PETA President would rather kill them off rather than protect them. I would 't give PETA one cent and in fact, place all my support behind Best Friends Animal Sanctuary and their No Kill policy. I also support small shelters around the country who are dedicated to helping all animals. PETA can go to hell.
I've heard these things for years now. I checked them out and they are all true. I'm glad somebody is finally getting through.
I'm not going to defend some of the ridiculous things PETA does, however you know what? The guilting via horrible pictures and videos DID work on me, and many many others too. I gave up meat and am glad that I discovered the reality of the farming industry. If you are distressed by the content they put out, you should be!!!!!!!
PETA has also been quite outspoken on its call for the complete irradication of any and all pit bulls or pit bull type dogs. It is well proven that bully breeds rank high on the temperament charts and that BSL does not work. Calling for the death of thousands and thousands of dogs is not charitable or pro animal welfare in any way at all.
Whithout PETA we would still considered ok many things about animals. Of course it is not their role to end up feeding every animal the society abadons. They are trying to solve the problem by changing our prespective. Changing the way we all think in the world. The city authorities can have the selters that are funded from the citizens to feed their abadoned pets. It is their obligation not PETAS.
PETA's pretty much always been a bunch of c***s, doing stupid things like getting mad at Obama for killing a fly. They waste their money on ridiculous campaigns rather than actually trying to change anything. It's incredibly propaganda-based rather than evidence-based, which is something you never want in your animal rights groups. I think they're cruel, and they should be legally dismantled.
I've always donate some of my allowance to them and even receive text messages to help stop something, I'm brutally shocked to my core
Support RSDR. A British family who have done an amazing job of really caring for dogs and cats in Rudozem, Bulgaria. And yes, you can visit and see what they do with your money.
PETA and organizations like it are terrible. They attack other groups that actually help animals because PETA doesn't agree with them. Take, for example, the Vancouver Aquarium. Because of groups like PETA, VA is no longer able to rescue cetaceans because if the federal government decided they can't be released, they need a home somewhere or have to be euthanized. After 2 of the aquarium's whales were poisoned by someone who has yet to be caught, the parks board decided to ban the aquarium from bringing cetaceans into the Park where the aquarium is located, and now any non-releasable cetacean has to be euthanized.
my problem with this is, not being a researcher or jounalist, i have no idea if this person is right or not. that fact that he blogs on 'several' things gives me pause. just how does he have the knowledge to make such statements. how does he actually know?
A quick Google will show you many years of peta abuses. I suggest you try that. To me this is old news.
Load More Replies...He did an amazing job at opening my eyes and giving a view most people didnt know existed.....very well done man!!
They also want every single pitbull type dogs put down on intake. Animals only matter to PETA if you eat them, or use their furs. Yet They justify killing animals for living 😡
What I don't get is how you can be so spiteful on behalf of an animal that you're planning on killing anyway... like, is it a superiority complex? It sounds like it. "Don't kill for food, kill for publicity."
Shocked and appalled! I live less than 15 miles from Norfolk and never knew this. Here's what is on their website about their work in Norfolk: "Fieldworkers rescue local animals directly—crawling through sewers, poking through junkyards, climbing trees, dodging cars, and coaxing terrified strays to safety". Again, shocked and appalled.
You're shocked and appalled that they will literally do anything to get to an animal that needs help? :/
Load More Replies...They should have exported those dogs to china Atleast their death won't have been in vain lol
I am happy they haven't reached minecraft yet. what they would do if they did: oh! you can shear sheep to make a bed and they can easily regrow wool? CrUelTy To AnImAlS!
Those Psychos for the Evil Torture of Animals are liars looking for attention. They also have stolen and euthanized children's pets.
If you don’t want to donate to Peta, you should consider donating to this organization! -Brother Wolf Animal Rescue: An independent animal rescue group who throws many fundraisers and saves hundreds of animals! Is strictly NO KILL and cares so much about our other earthlings! You can find them on Facebook, they deserve your support so much!
It seems this writer has a bias point of view. No facts all just rhetoric. In all I believe PETA brings much awarness of just how cruel we all are to our fellow beings. There moal direction is valid.
PETA doesn’t care about animals. They don’t care about the safety or well being of animals. They only want to stop others from having anything to do with animals. No pets. No work animals. No eating meat. No leather products. No human and animal interaction. If the animal dies, oh well, they couldn’t care less. If the choice is to shoot 10 animals to save thousands, their choice is to let the thousands die.
PETA claims to be high and mighty when in reality it is morally bankrupt. They were caught out making false videos in which they paid people to torture animals and then claimed that was how farming is done. They've done this with sheep and cattle. They are many times worse than even the bad farmers who need to clean up their acts. PETA acts like a gang of terrorists.
Peta is hilarious. Their extreme stances on animal rights fuel very entertaining campaigns, which I thoroughly enjoy. It is part of the reason I believe in their organization.
I personally think that PETA goes too far for animal protection and instead belittles human beings for doing their own thing for animal protection.
Giving to a charity organization is the WORST use of your charity dollars. Give your money directly to someone who needs help.
Lets not forget the time PETA kidnapped and murdered a little girls pet dog, then when the family tried to get justice PETA buried them in legal tape and got away scott free. #justiceformaya
I've always loathed PETA. There are ways to saving animals without shoving your agenda down other peoples throats. And to try to force people and animals into veganism should show how disrespectful and self-centered they are. May as well force PETA members into an arena with lions and tell them to go convince the lions to stop eating meat.
The things he tweeted about are things people should already know. But, Sheeple.
peta is like other orgs. trying to control what others do. by USING emotional arguments to blackmail people with.
They also advocate to have pitbulls killed. I do not support them. They are hypocrites and they need to shutdown!!
PETA is like Greenpeace - an organisation that started with noble goals and ideals, but became corrupted by encroaching ideology and more interested in advancing an agenda than actually doing real, tangible good.
I pay no attention at ANY PETA ads. Their organization is a ridiculous joke.
In the USA hunters contributed 1.6 billion dollars in revenue to conservation initiatives. This money came from fees, licenses, tags, permits, and taxes on firearms and ammunition. This total doesn't reflect man hours or land donations. It doesn't include independent organizations like ducks unlimited. Want to help animals and fight to save their natural habitats buy hunting and fishing permits in most states the funds go directly to government conservation agencies. You don't have to use them if you are opposed to hunting and fishing but it puts money where it matters. Pay attention though. Colorado had a surplus in their conservation agemcy until the state merged it with parks and rec and created a budget nightmare and put their conservation efforts at risk.
Let's not forget the full on attack of clubbing seals as of their own assumptions. It was because they over populated and it was destroying the local eco system. They also didn't just do it for fur trade, alot of the dead seals were handled or sold to natives. The Inuit religion makes the natives use every part of the dead animal because it's disgraceful to the animals spirt to leave anything unused.
PETA is an abhorrent organization. It’s nice to see someone with a large platform speaking out about them. I hope more people join him! If you want to make a difference, support your local rescues, volunteer your time & help local shelters reform to non-kill policies.
PETA has gone after a toy company for their products wearing Fur https://spikeybits.com/2017/02/finally-games-workshops-response-to-peta.html
I only give support to local animal shelters, and have never supported PETA, nor will I ever support an organization that is more interested in self promotion than actually saving abused and neglected animals.
I have only helped local animal shelters, and never given to PETA, nor will I ever give to a group that's all about self promotion, instead of actually saving and helping abused animals.
I attended my first National Breed Dog Show 30 years ago. There aren't more passionate advocates for a dog than their die hard fans. As I was checking in to obtain my arm band I parked my minivan 60 yards away in the shade with the engine on and a.c. running. Just as it was my turn to pick up my band I heard collective murmuring then saw people move to catch a loose dog. Heart in my throat , my first thought was how scared the dog and it's owner had to be, then I realized it was my dog! Chance came quickly to me and we returned to the van. I was kicking myself, how on earth did he get out? The open tailgate had a note taped to it, proclaiming pets was fighting monsters like us who choose to parade dogs in circles. As an "act of kindness" they "set him free". Nearly a dozen dogs were released,in a strange place, obviously, filled with strangers and only 300 yards from a busy interstate. Animal champions? Not even remotely.
PETA is the biggest joke ever , money grabbers .... along with the rspca they are in it for the money
While I’m not saying that this information isn’t legitimate, he has provided no evidence of his research. No one should be blindnly believing what he says just because he says so. If the information is true, he should also provide his evidence of the facts so that others can review it and understand that it’s from a reputable source. This extends to any news one reads, not just the information presented here.
Totally agree with everything you (Calum) have said in this thread!!! I could go on and on about the Horrific acts PETA has committed , but it just gets my blood pressure up! All I have to say is that PETA is a Terrible organization and needs to go!!!
Totally against PETA. Self aggrandizing bunch of creeps taking money from kind hearted people who think it is going towards a good cause but it really is being used to feather their nest. One of the most unethical groups out there.
my favourite is the b******t they tried stirring up with Warhammer 40000. Imaginary Space Viking with fur pelts is just as bad as real fur. F**k you Peta, f**k you.
I can’t imagine what would happen if they stole my little dear one year old kitten and returned with his dead body... I imitate animals and have bitten and hurt a few people, so I imagine a few people would go to either the hospital or the ER, depending on how they killed him. I maybe would even go to jail for manslaughter, because my cat matters so much to me, he is pretty much my life.
PETA is a horrible, damaging joke. They are insane and do more harm than good in their insanity (rather like the NRA, actually, which advocates murdering birds not for meat, but merely for "traditional" sport). Get to know your local animal rescue groups instead, and donate time or money to them. I've volunteered with a local foster/adoption group that has gotten hundreds of cats out of kill shelters and into their forever homes.
I was a member for years and when one of their newsletters advocated for destroying putbulls all together instead of educating people they lost me. Since than I have found local charities to support. PETA is a disgusting organization and I am so thankful for everyone who is drawing attention to their lies.
PETA is NOT an animal welfare organization. PETA uses the emotions of people do make money, yet not a single dollar of their millions goes to animal welfare or conservation, all the money is used to pay six-figure salaries to their CEO's, advertising, manufacture videos and legal fees for all the lawsuits that won against them. Some money is also used to support the animal rights terrorists of the ALF.
PETA, HSUS and Grey2K.. corrupt a******s. All 3 do nothing for the animals the process to care about.
and many wildlife sanctuaries are not what people believe they are either.
PETA is also vehemently against service animals and companion animals.
https://www.gofundme.com/pet-camp-and-animal-shelter This animal shelter will find a home or keep an animal as a pet before they would ever kill one.
PETA - like every organization that is not moderate thinking is scary dangerous - keep them away from every rescue site in Texas and in Montana
Mind you, they have done a lot of hard work in assisting in freeing elephants from lives of torment in India and other animals such as bears and big cats. I guess this is the good side of Peta. However, I have heard from other fellow activists over the years of the killing of innocent cats and dogs in their care and not to support Peta. I agree to support our local sanctuaries and refuges. But even these must be checked out before donating. Here is a good example why you have to double check where your money is going: http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/twisted-animal-sanctuary-boss-jailed-11080772
we are NOT fans of peta ......... haven't been for many many years ...... we do TNR and work feral fix clinics in our community
Every organization has it faults. That being said, PETA, at times, really does go off the rails and comes out with the most absurd actions and statements. Unfortunately, this damages all the truly good things the organization does.
They advocate for not cutting down whool from sheeps. Which is harmfull for them. It's just ridiculous.
I was horrified to find out what PETA was really like (about 5 years ago). I've since found that my local vet hospital which offers discounted treatment to those on welfare is a far better cause.
Shocked and sad - then whom can we trust, how do we know about the others too
It's standard that big charities are just big corporations, they all sell out
If you guys want to donate money and have the most effect with it look into Effective Altruism. It's a way of looking at your donations from a mathmatical perspective and figuring out where you can help the most people with your money.
I've looked into his teets, and he appears to be both.
Load More Replies...In Tejas P.E.T.A. is not that way. Of course Tejas P.E.T.A. stands for People Eating Tasty Animals.
my question is which country does that all take place... maybe its a different between it looking in other countries. I understand the fact they wanna shock you with thrilling pictures, how can somebody proof their statement that its all cruelty af for em poor animals..
I think this happens to others. Eddies PETA. So sad that we don't know truth from swindlers
I agree with one thing with people- animals get tortured and abused right before they even up getting slaughtered. The pictures, comments etc showing and talking about the torture and cruelty is true and not over done or made up by Peta. But unfortunately hardly anyone cares and continue to eat meat not caring how and where it came from. And yes local rescues need money more than Peta who throes it all out for advertisement and such.
But I don't hate them for the part about the Ben and Jerry's human milk thing. I don't consume milk because I believe it is disgusting, but most people don't understand that cows produce milk just like any other mammal: to provide to their young, so there is no reason for us to torture them and steal it. But all that aside, if PETA doesn't shape up soon, it's going to go downhill quicker than it thinks and lose trust from millions of people and the children who support it.
I have heard some bad things about PETA who I used to support. I do think their undercover footage of Farm animals abuse is good bc it shows the true horror of what takes place there. I HOPE they wake up and change their ways and fight the good fight against animal cruelty. I am heartbroken they killed so many dogs and cats. That was SO WRONG. What b******t. I do TNR work and it is good work esp in NYC. NOW I prefer to donate to Soi Dog or anther NO KILL Non-profits.
Had no idea. I guess almost any charity really isn't charity, anymore. They're more a business with radical ideologies. Just like everything else. (Sorry if that's cynical. I'm a little upset right now, maybe that's why)
I live here in Thailand and here is a good group; Thailand Temple Dogs & Cats (fb) And it's people like this who help the poor dogs and cats.
All the care and support you wanna give, give it by Urself....Not just ran away from it by just donating Money.
I believe before we have more information, people should treat these 'story's' with scepticism and whilst I have nothing against gays, people should remember some gays can be extremely 'over-sensitive' and it could be the case that rescued pets are put down simply because not enough people are coming forward to adopt them. Please keep an open mind on this.
They are Hippocrates. They are every bit as cruel as those they expose.
Peta is no better than an animal abuser...they do more harm than good.
PETA = People Eating Tasty Animals. If we are not supposed to eat animals, then why are they made out of meat?......LMFAO !!!
Guys, I did set up a crowdfunding campaign in IndieGogo/Generosity to help David the photographer. https://www.generosity.com/fundraising/help-david-slater-aka-monkey-selfie-photographer Is it possible you could help me spread the word about this campaign, in order to give a helping hand to David. They also went after board game company demanding they the depiction of fur from the models, and also tried to harrass films like Lord of the Rings for the Wargs, and Game if Thrones for the Dire Wolves and the clothing used
Are you a baby trying to be angry about peta?
Load More Replies...Calum McSwiggan is living in a dream world, No organization, not even the US government, is rich enough to provide food, shelter, and medical care for every domesticated animal on Earth so that they can all "die naturally!"
I just looked the guy up on youtube, and now he is my new hero :)
I've read articles pointing out that PETA is about as honest as Trump. Makes me think of msm.
I understand the upset over the 30,000+ animals being put to sleep...but on the other side of that is a human responsibility. These animals are breeding some how...and by the math if allowed to continue the cycle which is an animal instinct and most animals have multiple offspring you are now talking a potential 60,000 to over 100,000 animals that now are in homed or unloved. Much much larger problems exist from this.
Look up the statistics on how many animals PETA euthanizes every year
They kill all pit bulls they get their hands on. They murder animals F&*# PETA.
Did anyone else notice that the people criticizing PETA form coherent statements and PETA's supporters don't seem to have that ability?
I think anyone who pays attention will notice pita is full of itself I recommend support to local humane societies ASPCA

PETA is utterly insignificant to me. Their gory documentaries try to make me feel guilty for eating meat when guess what? Humans are omnivores. I like an apple, but I love a steak. So peta is just a side note to me.
This guy faked his own gay bashing. I wouldn't trust him if he said the sky is blue. https://www.advocate.com/crime/2016/6/28/weho-sheriff-says-gay-youtuber-faked-hate-crime
I've been opposed to peta since I began reading about them. They're worse than hypocrites.
Pitas been a force since it started, I would never donate to them just like most of the nonprofit organizations that I used to donate to. Found out a lot of their CEOs take a shower reason of hundreds of thousands if not millions of dollars.
1. humans are omnivores meaning they are evolved to eat all kinds of foods a pure vegan diet is not natural for humans any more than an all meat diet would be. Killing what you claim to be rescuing is just lying. I quit donating to them ages ago when they became just another extremist group trying to force their views on others.
Tbey are ridiculous in some of the things they do. No one in their right mind would follow that
It's pretty we'll known PETA are completely bat s**t, the fact that so many couldn't see that for themselves is... troubling to put it lightly 😕
P.E.T.A. People Eating Tasty Animals I'm sorry, is this the wrong organization? In all seriousness, one should always donate only to local non kill shelters. This way you can see first hand how your money is being spent and on whom.
I firmly agree that PETA is a c**p organization. However the guy that created this tweet sounds like he has an agenda as well. Google him. Here is a link to get you started. http://www.dailynews.com/general-news/20161108/online-star-calum-mcswiggan-pleads-guilty-to-vandalism-after-hate-crime-claim

This guy is making a lot of really damaging and serious accusations without one shred of evidence, data, etc. to back it up. Not even a link to an article, nothing. "They tried to get Ben & Jerrys to use human milk" where is the evidence for this crazy claim? "They try to shut down independent farmers and small businesses? How is he backing up this? If he wants to put these allegations out there than at least provide proof. Like wise people need to stop believing everything they read online, just because its online and makes a good story. When this wanna b journalist starts acting like a real one and provides facts and evidence then I'll believe it.
THis has been known well before McSwiggans was born. Peta promotes Peta - McSwiggans promotes McSwiggans
Well this guy has clearly never given any real thought to any of the issues that people trying to further animal rights cause have to deal with. It's upsetting for meat eaters to see what happens to the animals they eat? How do you think the vegans who go in and film it feel? Or more importantly, the animals?! And please show me which of these small farmers have found a way not to kill the animals they're selling for meat. And then you take a moral position on euthanisia? What's your solution for the millions of animals that have no homes and no one to adopt them? Stick them in a cage for the rest of their lives and watch them go crazy? How many of them have you adopted? How crazy of PETA to encourage Ben & Jerry to move away from using cows milk for their ice cream (which ps they've actually started to do). No, better to rape cows, kill their babies and steal their milk. How about spending a little less time taking selfies and a little more time educating yourself.
Things like this remind me of why I seriously hate the internet at times. Calum did little to no research on many of these issues, but of course his 50K followers are going to eat up anything he says. Everything that PETA does is to benefit animals. No, euthanasia is not the worst thing that can happen to an animal. Sometimes, it's the kindest thing that can be done to an animal who is suffering. PETA deals with many animals at death's door, so comparing their kill rate to that of other shelters is not fair. You may not understand PETA's tactics, but think about the fact that their opposition consists of mostly wealthy industries and corporations--PETA has to rely largely on free “advertising” through media coverage. So yes, they will do attention-grabbing things to get people to think about issues they otherwise wouldn't think about. There's a lot of misinformation about the work that PETA does, but when it comes down to it, everything that they do is to help animals.
The problem ids they destroy animals that are not suffering. Please feel free to look it up.
Load More Replies...PETA operates a shelter of last resort, and never turns an animal away. Their fieldworkers work in some of the poorest communities in Virginia and North Carolina, where people chain their dogs in the backyard and ignore them. Literally no one else is going to help these animals. PETA brings them food, attention, doghouses, straw during the winter, lightweight tie-outs, flea treatments, toys, and more. I have volunteered with them and know firsthand the suffering they encounter. The vast majority of the animals surrendered to PETA come from these situations, and as a result are unsocial, ill, or otherwise unadoptable. When someone surrenders a healthy, adoptable, social animal to PETA, they are transferred to a local open-admission shelter for the best chance at adoption, but occasionally PETA will adopt them out directly. I adopted my rabbit from them! Additionally, if you look at PETA’s figures, you will see that a third of the animals they euthanized in 2016 were actually brought to
Yeah they take those animals and put them out of their misery out of kindness! What an idiot. Take an animal to a no kill shelter and they will feed nourish care for and not kill. Don't be naive
Load More Replies...This guy needs to do his homework, he should know that as a blogger. PETA euthanise animals which have been turned away from 'no kill' shelters, are completely unadoptable and have nowhere else to go other than starve on the street. Yes, PETA do stunts like criticising game characters for wearing fur etc. but how much does that actually cost them? Not much, and the media publish these kinds of stories, making people consider the real issues surrounding the fur industry. Finally, it's "unethical" to show people footage of animal suffering is the most ridiculous part of all. Every conscious consumer should know exactly where their food comes from and if it's a product of torture, don't you think you should be more concerned for the animals being tortured than because of your upset watching it?!
Do you have any idea where your veggies and fruit come from? Do you have any idea about the work force ( humans) that ae use to pick and process those crops? If you want to talk about systematic abuse and torture think about the human trafficking that is involved in the ag industry, particularly around crops. In the US many of those folks are undocumented, they live in camps near where they are picking, they are not unionized, they often do not even have portapotties to use - think about that the next time there's an ecoli outbreak concerning veggies or fruit. This is just the tip of the iceberg.

PETA's record of helping animals is irrefutable: the organization works to relieve suffering for all animals, whether they are in labs, in cages, or in factory farms. The organization has even helped expose cruelty to hermit crabs! PETA offers no-cost euthanasia to people who have no money, and who want a peaceful death for their companion animal. Please research PETA's euthanasia programs, which are in place to help animals and their guardians. Big Ag wants to dismantle PETA because the organization exposes their cruel practices. Big Ag does not care about animals, and uses them for profit. Gestation crates are only one example
They don't look into the facts of an issue before they speak out. A couple of years ago we ended up with PETA campaigning against Australian sheep farmers that they were being cruel because they dock the sheep's tails. The problem with this is that the farmers are actually doing that to look after the sheep as if they don't they are much more likely to get fly strike and it is extremely painful and quite often fatal.
Load More Replies...A lot of animals at PETA's shelter are truly terminally ill and were dumped there by "no-kill" shelters that didn't want to taint their records. PETA campaigns are controversial because, sadly, that is what grabs attention nowadays. MFA did a study that showed cruelty videos actually are more effective than "cute" animal videos in pushing people to cut out animal products. Everything that PETA does is not accidental; it's carefully thought out to incorporate tactics that are known to work.
True, not accidental but still reprehensible
Load More Replies...And guess who funds the Center For Consumer Freedom? Lobbyist Richard Berman and it is funded by KFC , Outback Steakhouse, Philip Morris, cattle ranchers, and other companies who cruelly kill millions of healthy animals every year—and who bring them into this world just to kill them. The CCF devotes considerable manpower, time, and money in an attempt to make people who care about animals believe false and misleading information about PETA's work. :| Last year alone PETA’s Mobile Clinics Division spayed and neutered more than 15,000 cats and dogs in southeastern Virginia and northeastern North Carolina, including more than 570 feral cats and more than 1,300 pit bulls at a discount or free of charge.
If gently encouraging people to try vegan worked, don't you think they would have stopped there? PETA has no choice buy to euthanize dogs because there aren't enough good homes for them. What they supposed to do, let that languish in a kennel for 15 years? If people would stop buying animals from breeders and pet stores, there's be a lot more homes for dogs in shelters. PETA tries to educate people about that. Until you have a solution for what to do with the thousands and thousands of animals without homes, don't criticize PETA, they didn't bring the animals into this world. Irresponsible people did and PETA is doing it's best to fix the situation. It also delivers bedding,, housing, food, and water and light weight tie ups to dogs chained outside. And has a has a travel spay and neuter clinic to fix animals at cost. But you didn't talk about that at all. Talking s**t about PETA, an organization that works tirelessly to help animals, hurts animals. PETA saves billions of animals.
No, PETA has no interest in educating people. It has an interest in guilting people into doing things that THEY want. If gently encouraging people to be vegan doesn't work, it mean that people don't want to be vegan. Vegan is not sustainable for 7 billions of human being. Vegan is not sustainable for the earth, either, because we're a large part of the ecosystem that eats meat, and as such regulates a lot of species' population, which is crucial for the ecosystems. Vegan is not economically or biologically sustainable for a LARGE portion of the western population, AND if it was, it would be because we're exploiting human being even further into poverty. But PETA doesn't care about that. PETA thinks its narrow-sighted ideals are the only ones valid, and their extremism is damaging to the cause they claim they serve, because they don't serve it intelligently. People not only tune out the radicals, they tune out the entire cause.

If their shelters get too full they have to euthanase them. Shocking photos are needed to jolt people into thinking about what they eat. You made us read this blog by shock photo and headline but didn't explain it. Okay the one about the chimp selfie is absurd, nobody's perfect. By the way, I'm a reluctant meateater trying to give it up or just eat free range.
I don't even have time to go into how full of b******t this article is... but I'll try. 1. PETA isn't an animal welfare organization, they're an animal rights organization and anyone with any substantial knowledge of animal rights can grasp the distinction. Obviously this author doesn't. 2. PETA's tactics may be controversial and inconvenient to some, but they effect the most change among any leading animal rights or welfare organization. 3. Claiming that these tactics cause human beings "distress".... I'm sure it's a lot less distress than the animals being cruelly slauhtered to satiate the desires of your palate. 4. This vlogger seems to be piggybacking off of the highly stigmatized false sense of how PETA delegates their finances while offering no concrete list of his version of acceptable animal rights or welfare orgs. I'd like to see what his criteria for a deserving non-profit is. Chances are he doesn't know enough to offer one up

I shot the feral cats that had been living under my barn. Shocked? Well listen to this before judging: I bought a farm and these cats were already there. I had a hired hand who was a naturalist of sorts. He managed the cats. At first we fed them and gave them water. Then as time went on they bred and had litters. THis was all under a big barn where we could hardly see them and mostly not at all. The litters kept coming and so we set hava-a-heart traps. For months Charlie would bait the traps with everything imaginable but never any luck. What to do. If we could have caught the males we would have castrated them at least, but no luck. In the end we had upwards from fifteen cats running wild. What would you have done? Some of you, I suppose, would have said tear the barn down. PETA is the ONLY organization that bothered to expose horse racing and I wish they could have done more. This is one of the most cruel of animal sports. They went after slaughterhouses, too.
Yeah, but they also went after Maya the dog. Plus, knowing all of the racehorse breeders I do, boycotting horse racing as they want you to, is like boycotting owning dogs because a small percentage of dog owners are abusive.

Hey I just posted something in defense of PETA and was it taken down? There was nothing offense in it, just pro PETA.
most of the PETA supporters are actual white racists. They save dogs..they hate mexicans. Is the way of washing your sins, you tell to your rich friends you are a PETA supporter so the rest is ok and you can keep on being a horrible person who hates persons. I also don't trust people who says "i prefer my dog". Since I'm not a puppy, i go with the people who likes people..normally they all love animals as well. Loving animals is a condition from people who leves everything around then.
PETA is Great. If you want to adopt every cat and dog on the planet with your money great. Start with Australia they have over 3 million stray cats that need your love and attention - forget about all the birds and reptiles those cats are killing into extinction.
You have just called a corporate holocaust onto feral cats. well done. you win.
Load More Replies...PETA is great. They are NOT an animal shelter/rescue org. You folks need to do some "re-search" - don't be "re-tarded".
Just being a human being ANYWHERE in the world, or LGBQT means being better than a first class citizen in this world compared to being an animal. They have no voice. ANY advocate is better than none. We F*****G EAT THEM. Do we do that to other humans? WE EAT THEM. Consider that .
Some of his comments are fair calls, but saying it's unethical to show cruelty in order to convert people isn't right... he suggests "gently encourage people" rather than showing graphic footage.... that will never work! Until people see the cruelty for themselves they will never deem the meat industry as inhumane. People are self-centred and don't care about the lives of animals so long as they can eat what they like and have pleasures for themselves. People are outraged by Dog and cat cruelty but don't care about the cows, pigs and chickens the hurt. It's actually simple... but people would rather remain ignorant so they don't have to think about it... graphic images and footage challenges people's notions and makes them think twice! They can't plead ignorance anymore... people know.... they just don't care.
Again, not defending some of their tone-deaf tactics, some of their work is very effective to opening peoples eyes to issues such as fur farms, zoos, aquariums, leather, etc. Ex: leafletting. Also a vlogger "roasting" people on twitter, as in Trump's example, hardly gives you cred. There are plenty of animal rescues to donate to and to draw attention to without writing another one out of a million sexy articles about PETA.
I don't hate PETA and would never go against them like this, but I do trust local shelters and charities more than them. I do think, however, that them showing graphic videos is necessary and nothing to bash them about, because people do need to know the truth. But the part about them euthanizing cats and dogs, idk if it's true or not, but I'm not happy about the rumors either way. I do love PETA's vegan food DIY's and tips and tricks about how to avoid animal-based foods and clothing, etc, but sometimes, I agree, they do take things a little too far and shove things in your face non-stop and go overboard with who they decide to sue for stupid reasons. Like Mario and Pokemon? I mean, come on. They're video games. They need to use their money for good rather than wasting it on things like knock-off Pokemon games. I appreciate that they're trying to persuade more people into choosing a more cruelty-free life, but the things they say to do that are incredibly rude and offensive.
Sarah Hooks Bleehhhhh."Instead of gently encouraging people to try a vegan diet, they instead fill our feeds with videos of animals being tortured and killed." - sorry but if the REALITY makes people uncomfortable maybe they should seriously consider eliminating animal products from their diets and lives. I'm so tired of the argument to coddle people into giving a s**t. It's much more effective to show people what goes on behind the curtain and then offer support for changing their lives. "It causes a lot of people distress." Give me a f*****g break.... And guess what "attacking" Ben and Jerry got them? DAIRY FREE ICE CREAM that's opened a whole new market for them. And by all means, target those independent farmers and businesses who probably sell the "humane meat" myth. Spread awareness. Listen, I'm not defending PETA here. They used to be on the front lines of animal rescues but things got totally muddied somewhere along the way.
I disagree. PETA is essentially a PR firm for animal issues now. There are other groups that more directly interdict for animals. Most of what they do is oriented at getting attention for animal issues, and it serves the interest of the animals To be controversial to grab the minds of moral but unengaged people. Basically most people don't care about animals, but claim to while eating them, imprisoning, experimenting and otherwise torturing them, and then wearing or covering other objects with their skin or fur. If facing those facts make you uncomfortable, I don't think PETA is your problem, I think your lifestyle is.
The guy assaulted the kangaroo. Totally unnecessary. These seem important example. Better if use some discrimination.
Showing videos of animals being tortured in the meat industry causes distress to humans? Think of the distress it causes the animals! Videos like that encouraged me to become vegetarian, it works. You can't be angry at PETA for showing these videos, be angry at the factory workers, and the system, for abusing these animals
This is one sided with no documentation whatsoever. And why is Bored Panda posting this kind of s**t? I
When you don't have a home for unwanted animals or the money to keep them alive in shelters, what would you critics do with them? Better euthanasia than suffering...in my mind. As for feral cats...and I am a cat lover....they are responsible for the death of millions of songbirds and other forms of wildlife. Cats should be kept indoors and not be free to wander. I know that seems mean, but it isn't cruel and it is also safer for the cat. I would not be so quick to trash PETA.
Simplistic arguments, comments and assessments are not evidence. Focus on only one aspect of an organisation - and a biased one, at that, is not proof of the organisation's worth. PETA has certainly done much more good than harm and probably raised more awareness of animal cruelty than any other. If there is real proof that PETA is "corrupt" then let's have an investigation and show it. As far as I can see, however, if anyone is trying to make a name for themselves it is Calum, not PETA. Perhaps he should stop and consider ALL work of the organisation before going public with serious and harmful allegations. For all I know, (or most of his readers), he may be a hunter or gun lover or animal hater or whatever who is using the Internet to cast a slurr on an organisation which opposes what he and others do to animals in the name of sport or 'fair game'. Either way, this condemnation without evidence is inappropriate and, in reality, more likely to give ammunition to those who harm
All of the hunters I know care more about the environment than these sick bastards do.
Load More Replies...If anyone is trying to make a name for themselves it is Calum McSwiggan - and in his case without any real point. PETA's publicity may be raw and offensive to some but it has probably drawn more attention to animal cruelty than has any other organisation. Euthanasia is sad but it is not cruelty. Simply condemning PETA because it has euthanised a number of animals at its shelter is a simplistic ploy. I would suggest that most, if not all, of those animals were beyond rehabilitation or the costs of rehabitation. There are worse things than death - PETA exposes those. I wish that cost was not an issue but, as long as we have a society that values materialism over ethical behavior and caring, this will continue to be the case. An allegation such as that made by Calum needs close investigation and I would support that. At the same time, an allegation is not a proof and his arguments are largely simplistic. He also apparently chooses to ignore the positive outcomes achieved by PETA
Instead of hearsay, evidence for all of these claims would work much better for everyone. It's too easy to say anything about anyone for any reason. Where are the sources to the accusations here? "I heard," "I assumed,"...really now, you wouldn't want anyone commenting randomly at your expense. Please supply your sources. Thank you.
1. PETA supports many animal charities itself. 2. I'm not sure of the figures here (97% animals killed by PETA). But I googled to find PETA does publish a report with its animal statistics, and the animals they euthanize are definitely not 97%!. Anyways, here's a thought: it's always easier to NOT help animals in pain, than to take them in and give them a mercy death and end up a bad guy. So does that make PETA better or worse?
Because of COURSE PETA reports accurate information and wouldn't at ALL falsify their reports ever.
Load More Replies...I learned about PETA many years ago. But trying to convince friends and family members, who believe the self congratulatory claptrap their money funds is impossible. More blogs, news articles and exposes are desperately needed. PETA does far more harm for animals than good. I made the mistake of contributing to a local pit bull rescue. Following a HUGE expansion in their facilities and the number of animals under their care they were found to be keeping not just pits, but ALL breeds in horrific conditions. Be very careful with your money. It at times does the exact OPPOSITE of your intent.
Another organization to watch out for is the Humane Society of the United states. They claim to be an advocate for animals but most of the donations they take in goes to support their retirement packages and legal costs. They try to confuse people to believe that they actually care for animals, yet their CEO Wayne Pacelle is on record as saying that "I do't want to see another animal born to be anyone's pet." They are also virulently anti hunting anti animal and were the organization that caused Ringling Bros Circus to close their doors due to all the harassment and lawsuits to shut them down.

What this blogger failed to mention is that PETA is often called on to help the animals that most typical animal shelters wouldn't be able to, such as feral cats dying of disease, animals caught in fur traps, chained dogs who have become too aggressive to be adopted, animals who have been hit by cars dying by the side of the road, mice caught in glue traps, birds stuck in netting, etc. Sometimes the animals are so badly damaged that the only thing to do for them is offer them a quick and painless release from suffering. PETA typically turns the adoptable animals it takes in over to local humane societies that have way more foot traffic than a business office will. It doesn't do much to help the "numbers" so thank god PETA cares more about animals than appearances.

Everything this guy said is based off personal opinion and misinformation. There's a reason that large animal industries spread so much c**p about PETA. It's because they're scared of them ;)
I understand completely that hating on peta for non-vegans is easy because it helps you try to justify in your head the fact that you pay for animals to die just to satisfy your tastebuds. No real need. I get it. Since we don't need to eat animals to be healthy then do you think it’s morally justifiable to keep killing them anyway? No actual need whatsoever, since we don’t need to eat animals to be healthy. Are you able to argue with anything said in this short video? https://www.facebook.com/garytvcom/videos/1207126842675895/?hc_ref=PAGES_TIMELINE
My 30 year old daughter has been vegan for some time. Since she was 18. She did have some mineral deficiencies at first and addressed them with a doctor. She is quite healthy now. PETA I think was her influence, I believe but she stopped supporting them very shortly after when I showed her some stats. When we talk about her reasons and veganism vs sustainable meat farming and supporting those farmers instead of huge cruel corporate meat processors, we agree some people just can't afford those meat prices. Me specifically. She can. It's easy to push veganism, but who's paying the grocery bill? Let's face it. A vegan diet can be costly when you're feeding a family or on a fixed income. You can't just switch. There are vitamins and minerals in meat that are hard to match with a purely plant based diet. You can get what you need from plants, but you have to eat a lot more in variety. I have a soy allergy. I can't just eat tofu like she can. I know I'm not the only one. PETA frightens me.
I was expecting a fact based article. All I got was a load of allegations on Twitter from someone I have never heard of.
If the public is unaware of the atrocities, they just continue, give your heads a shake, I also hate the videos, but ignorance is no excuse, the shock value may help put an end to the horrible situations on Factory Farms, Think About it People!!!
Only believe half of what you see and none of what you read, before you believe things, check it out yourself, it's funny how PETA is trying to shut down China's annual ritual of torturing, and eating dogs, but there doing all these other things against animals, I don't buy it, check into it yourself before you believe, what your being told.
Well this is by far the worst thing you've ever posted. Perhaps having not enough funding to care/find homes for a ton of animals is one good reason you SHOULD donate rather not. You clearly know nothing about the million horrific things PETA has stopped and the extent of the cruelty if you would propose being humanely put down isn't a better alternative. Your allegation that most of its money goes to advertising is inaccurate but I happen to think their PR people are doing a damn good job considering the amount of awareness they have single handedly raised. But if it helps you sleep at night to continue eating meat and/or to care even minimally only about animals that are standard pets by condemning the one organization that has done the most to help them then I see where you're coming from.
Notice he he doesn't back up a single claim with any evidence? Why is the internet creating a culture of believing anything that anyone says? People are just getting dumber with time.

Load More Replies...Wow, there are so many things wrong with these tweets, but I'll address the euthanasia points since that seems to be a common misconception about PETA. PETA works with open admission shelters. They transfer most healthy, adoptable animals to open admission shelters. PETA's euthanasia statistics don't reflect this because the outside shelter handles the adoptions. PETA has a shelter of last resort, not a traditional shelter. They have a facility where sick, abused, and suffering animals are given a peaceful release from their misery under veterinarian supervision. I highly recommend that all of you check out www.petasaves.com to learn the truth. PETA is an amazing organization that has accomplished countless victories on behalf of animals.

They're responsible for so much good that media doesn't ever report. They got Kikkoman to stop experimenting on animals. They got a TX school to end cat dissection. They've gotten over 150 major companies to stop selling angora fur. And let's be real, they're the reason Ringling is closed. PETA also has rescued 60 bears from concrete pits and roadside zoos. They've rescued chimps like Joe (from Mobile Roadside Zoo) after he lived in solitary confinement for 17 years. What are YOU doing to help animals?
Lol! One day you'll wonder why you supported PETA.
Load More Replies...It's easy to go on a twitter rant without doing your research. PETA has a last resort shelter that offers free or low cost euthanasia to family pets, and euthanizes stray animals who have experienced extreme injuries like getting hit by cars and untreated diseases. The real blame is on people who don't spay and neuter their pets and the fact that no-kill shelters can't take in any of the animals in the area. 6-8 million animals enter US shelter systems every year and half are put down due to a lack of homes or health issues, making them undesirable to potential adopters. This isn't PETA - this is a homelessness epidemic of cats and dogs and this guy could use his tweeting power to shed light on why spay and neuter is so important, and why we should adopt animals and avoid breeders who are creating new lives when there are so many animals already neglected. Also, how could an org explain to people why they should go vegan WITHOUT showing what is happening to animals on factory farms?
And as far as vegan diets go, never take advice on what's best for your nutrition from anyone without documented qualifications in the field
Killing off the feral cats is important, they kill a lot of wildlife like native birds and such
Don't fall for this. It is fed by an anti-PETA smear campaign funded by KFC. All organizations that rescue animals from horrific conditions have to euthanize them. The important number is how many animals they save - PETA has saved many http://features.peta.org/petasaves

A lot of it is based on the idea that you can't assign moral value based on species, that doing that is irrational. And the ethical proposition is to eliminate suffering where possible. But I still think it makes sense to reduce suffering when possible so I didn't understand and disagree that guys tweets, b/c factory farming surely is the most cruel animal practice out there, and something I think future generations will look down on us for so I would think it's appropriate PETA would focus on that as way to do the most good. If showing videos and pictures of factory farming upsets people I don't see how that is philosophically unethical if it is is realistic, which from everything I've read it seems to be.

This is the first case to consider declaring a non-human animal the owner of property rather than a piece of property, and it’s a key step forward in winning appropriate rights, respect, and consideration for all animals. Of course, PETA also works in very concrete ways, such as offering rewards for information leading to the arrest and conviction of animal abusers, pressing for charges in cruelty cases, and more. We offer something for all tastes, and this approach has proved amazingly successful—in the three decades since PETA was founded, it has grown into the largest animal rights group in the world, with more than 6.5 million members and supporters worldwide. Please visit http://www.PETA.org/about-peta to learn more.
Part 2: In addition to providing hands-on help to animals, PETA educates the public about animal rights and inspires people to make compassionate choices through our impossible-to-ignore campaigns. That’s why we release clever video games that enlighten players about how animals suffer in the entertainment and fur industries; why we remind people that eating ice cream made from cows’ milk is just as strange as eating ice cream made from human breast milk; and why we don’t shy away from showing people exactly what happens to animals on factory farms and in slaughterhouses—no matter how graphic or uncomfortable it may be. Knowing the facts empowers people to make kind choices, such as attending only animal-free circuses; going fur-free; and eating healthy vegan foods instead of cruel meat, eggs, and dairy.
Calum McSwiggan’s series of inflammatory tweets is rife with inaccuracies and misleading statements about PETA and the important work we do to help animals. Here’s the truth about PETA. PETA is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation funded almost exclusively by donations from our compassionate members. Last year, more than 84 percent of our operating expenses went directly to our programs fighting animal exploitation. That includes spending more than $1,402,000 in 2016 to operate PETA’s fleet of mobile spay and neuter clinics. PETA sterilized more than 15,000 animals last year alone at little to no cost to their guardians—helping to reduce the suffering that results when animals enter a world in which so many of them are dying for lack of a good home. PETA helps thousands of impoverished families keep animals rather than give them up, by providing free veterinary care, behavioral counseling, food, and more, and we’ve delivered more than 6,500 free doghouses and straw bedding.
The owners that Abandon them should be the ones put down or and put on a no pet list! It sucks how any f-Witt can own a pet!
You are talking about killing human beings without knowing anything of their situation, or reasons for abandoning their pet. Look at your sibling, your best friend, your significant other. Could you justify someone KILLING them because they could not take care of an animal?
Load More Replies...NIce try but if this were the case the local humane societies would have similar figures.
Load More Replies...That's a lie. They advertise themselves as an "adoption" shelter and for awhile, people bring them healthy puppies and kittens thinking that they're going to go to good homes. The reality is that most of these animals don't even make it into a cage. Instead, they're shoved into sealed tanks where most of them smother to death because these animal torturing scum won't gas them until the tanks are full.

I worked with a guy that had been heavily involved in Greenpeace, he was invited to a New Year’s Eve party at their headquarters where they had all the alcohol and drugs you could want for free!

They kill their rescued animals because they think the human contact has destroyed them anyhow.

Ingrid Newkirk, PETA co-fonder and President, has written many Books. In one of her Books she talks about the time when she worked in a animal shelter. She wrote: “I would go to work early, before anyone got there, and I would just kill the animals myself… I must have killed a thousand of them, sometimes dozens every day.” PETA is not a Animal Rights or Animal Protection organisation. PETA is a Cult just like Scientology. They even share the same Law Firm.

Even my service dog. bubba-serv...22652b.jpg
https://raythevicktorydog.com/2016/09/29/hey-peta-leave-our-dog-out-of-your-propaganda/

Load More Replies...Look who's talking, supporter of the guy who's gonna take your life insurance. All you people do is blame your own sins on the left.
Load More Replies...Just going to translate this to humans. Are we supposed to close our eyes as well, if we don't want to see people getting tortured? Animals and humans are living beings on this planet, we all deserve the same: a life without torture and cruelty.
Load More Replies...Even if he was, that doesn't actually invalidate any of his points.
Load More Replies...Oh come on, they murder and gully animals to make "point" that animal cruelty is bad. That's like people going around and just killing people to make a "point" and show that murderers are bad. They themselves are the animal abusers and should rethink their life choices...
