    Can anyone tell me where to buy coarse colored sugar crystals ? I can only find colored dusting sugar in my small town.

    You can actually dye them with a bit of food color if you can find clear ones, but typically you 'grow ' these similar to rock candy crystals. You can find instructions online, it's sort of long winded.
