Sometimes we get so used to everyday life, it becomes hard to imagine that things can be different. But they can. Whether it's out car getting scratched in the parking lot or our poop splashing in a public toilet so loud, everyone knows what we're doing, if there's a problem, there's a solution. Bored Panda has collected a list of genius ideas that have the potential to make some our day-to-day struggles go away, and while you in particular might not benefit from all of them, you'll still probably appreciate the effort that went into making them a reality.

The Bathroom At My Doctor's Office Has A Discreet Way For Victims Of Abuse, Violence, Or Human Trafficking To Get Help
The number is rather clever as well. The way it's written, it's a visual mnemonic device, meaning it helps the human memory to remember it. 888-3737-888 - with the differing numbers in red. Useful for someone who's in a hurry and can't write it down.
It is like seeing a doctor, the police or the fire department. I would prefer to never have to call them, but if something went wrong, I am always happy to see them.
Load More Replies...Things like this wouldn't need to exist if we didn't have so many males around. You know it's true. We should consider aborting male babies to decrease the number of men in the world.
While it's a great idea, it only works if the victim uses the bathroom. I wish there was a way for victims to get help without the predator knowing what is up.
I wish this had been an option for me. Luckily 8 years free now, but endured 6 years of extra hell before i plucked up the courage. Also because my abuser would never let me be alone other than bathroom visits. But, i am 8 years free with pretty much no help xx
I use the Multicare health group in Washington State, recently when checking in I have had receptionist ask me if I need to discuss something with the Dr in private, when I asked why they asked, it is for cases like like these to temporarily separate them from their abusers.
So true. You can't speak out otherwise. They have way too much control over your life.

They should have that in a few more languages - especially the Eastern European ones...
The help line number starting with +1 indicates that this sign is used in the US. Almost every person living there spraks either English or Spanish. So why would they need it in Eastern European languages?
Load More Replies...Perhaps, though I would like to think it was just a kid who pulled them because they can't read.

A Sign In The Women’s Bathroom For Those Who Feel Unsafe On A Date
'Ask For Angela' is a relatively new campaign designed to reduce sexual abuse on nights out. It originated in a pub in Lincolnshire, England, in 2016 and since then, it has received worldwide attention and has been adopted by bars and clubs across the globe.
This is so compassionate and wonderful. I hope it's also available for men. The statistics for men being victimized and abused are surprisingly high.
Have you noticed that the sign is actually written in a completely gender-neutral language? 🤔
Load More Replies...It's available for anyone, you ask FOR Angela, you don't say you ARE Angela.
Its only in the women's restroom, so no, its not available to anyone. Men who are in trouble can just f**k off. As usual, because no one gives a s**t.
Load More Replies...I think each bar that does this should choose their own name.. otherwise with the info floating around on fb everyone will know about it.. so the one your on a date with hears you ask for “Angela” and then knows what’s up... and then the other problem.. what if an Angela really does end up working someplace?
Buy you also need staff who are willing to collaborate, and who are trained on how to react and what to do. Many people don't know how to act in an emergency.

As heartbreaking as it is to say goodbye to your pet, it's what most of them need during their final moments. "I beg you DO NOT LEAVE THEM,” a message shared by Hillcrest Veterinary Clinic in South Africa read. "Do not make them transition from life to death in a room full of strangers in a place they don’t like. The thing you people need to know that most of you don’t is that they search for you when you leave them behind. They search every face in the room for their loved person. They don’t understand why you left them when they are sick, scared, old, or dying from cancer and they need your comfort.”
I had a vet once (no more because of this) that made me wait in the very public waiting room while they de-wormed a walk-in. I had an appointment. I was barely holding it together and they took a walk-in and de-wormed it. Then, when I came out after the walk-in was still there. I heard them ask what was going on and the receptionist told them 'She just put her pet down. Though, it was just a cat so I don't know what the hysterics are about'. All three stared at me while I carried my now empty carrier out to my car. I'll never go back to that vet.
Once had to have a dog, my darling, put to sleep. Cancer, pain. I left, crying quietly but obviously upset with my dear dkg's collar and lead in my hand. I wanted to keep these mementos. I had to leave via the same waiting room I entered. Same people with their pets saw me go in and then come back, petless. Awful for me, and them. Years later, I had to do the same again. Went in through the waiting room. My lovely love.y dog was put to sleep, cancer again. I did not cry until she was dead, then I cried. I left via a back door in the vet's , with her collar, and did not upset anyone in the waiting room. They did not see my heartbreak either. My upset was private, and my grief did not upset all the pet lovers there. All it needed was another door. Entrance and exit.
When we had to let go the mom of our other two cats I was devistated. I don’t remember crying that hard over a human! Luckily there weren’t any other people because we scheduled it and being a smaller off shot of the main office it’s not busy. We’ve been going there for years so everyone knows us. The lovely lady that works the desk went into the back and brought out the cutest 3 legged kitten to cheer me up so I could compose myself. That little girl was still there for rehab until they could find a forever home. That cutie jumping and running and being so happy even after having a leg amputated (due to a neglectful person). It’s hard to cry when you see that kind of joy! Find a good vet and stick with them!
Had to put my dog down a few weeks ago. I was alone and an absolute wreck. The staff at the ER Hospital were so kind. They sent a card out the following week with personal statements which were appreciated.
Our vet has a special "goodbye" room for putting pets to sleep. There are candles, nice smells, low lighting, and of course kleenex. I have been there too often lately, but I'm grateful for it.
This is so sweet. It saddens me to see people picking up their ashes of a beloved pet. I love my vet because he takes his lunch time to come to the house to euthanize pets in their own home and bed. We have used this service twice and has made my grieving process easier.
I had to hug my doggo harder after seeing this. She's getting older, and I dread the day when she will pass.
My vet has this too. They also have a private exit for the grieving room where you can stay with your pet till they pass and then you can leave by private exit so you don't run into people or other animals.
This Park Has A Swing For Wheelchair Users
The freefall that these swings provide is about 4.3 feet (1.3m) and they can safely take on a load of up to 4,400 pounds (2,000 kg). Moreover, the rope pull included within the design allows those with upper body mobility to swing themselves independently.
I love this idea! Every park should incorporate these swings so the disabled children are never left out!
I bet those swings are very costly. Great idea, but probably not feasible everywhere.
Load More Replies...Hey this is my local park <3 This swing has been around since I was a kid :D
It was invented by a young boy, who is now a young man. He is in a wheelchair and wanted playgrounds to be more inclusive. Its called the Dreamer.
I have a daughter in a wheelchair and have been able to bring her joy and a new sense of freedom in several parks in the greater area.
I just love this and the ability to encourage kids of all types to play
My elementary school had 2 playgrounds. One with a blue colour, for older kids, and another one with a yellow colour. The yellow coulor was for little kids. The yellow playground had a swing just like this, because we were a special ed school, and for some reason a lot oof kids kept breaking their legs.
These Lines Go Up The Wall So You Can Park Perfectly In-Between The Lines
Everyone wants to drive until it's time to park in a cramped corner. This particular one was found in Seattle, under the Amazon Go store. And even though the driver on the left didn't back backwards, it actually has a lot of benefits. Most importantly, reversing into a parking space gives you greater control and makes it easier to manoeuvre out the space. Avoiding reverse parking usually leads into much more difficult situations, trying to wiggle your car out of a tight space when you parked front-first.
Why is this not standard? Especially since the car's designs now mean you cannot see the fro t of your own car.
Now? How could you ever see the front of the car while you sit inside of the car?

A Color Blind Viewer
The Tennessee Department of Tourist Development and Tennessee State Parks have partnered to install “color blind” viewfinders at five state park locations across the state. In total, there are 11 of them installed in Tennessee.
Maybe Color Blind people will get Their Own Glasses to use Permanently.

Whoever designed these magnificent viewfinders, THANK YOU! Wish my dad was alive. Can you imagine seeing true color for the first time? Thank you!
In Singapore The Elderly Can Tap Their Identity Card To Have More Time At The Pedestrian Crossing
Swiping the card at a sensor gives its holder an extra 3 to 13 seconds to walk across, depending on the size of the crossing.
There is a crossing I used to take a while back, where there was not enough time allowed for anyone to cross. I could run, but others had to make it half-way across, then wait on the narrow median for the light to change again. So dangerous. I told off a guy one time for honking repeatedly at an elderly, disabled man who was trying to cross. Idiot!
This is brilliant! why isnt this in the US! I see so many elderly walking and makes me sad that sometimes cars are so impatient :(
Wish we had something similar in the UK. I've seen the elderly really struggle to get across in the time allotted. Not too bad on a single lane road as drivers just stop and give them more time, but when there are multiple lanes and the person on the crossing isn't necessarily visible as you approach it is terrifying.
Also take into account the drivers who just don't give a sh*t.
Load More Replies...This would also be iseful for people with poor mobility who can walk, but slowly.
I've been one of those people but you wouldn't know it if you saw me. People just thought I was being an a*****e and going slowly. I hated that feeling.

For everyone wondering, it's held together with zip ties. From scan to cast, it took the woman about 2 weeks to get it. While the company printed it in just a few days, the longest part of the process was drafting the print and shipping it from Colorado to Florida.
For the ones lucky enough to never need a cast, Dorothy is referring to the fact ordinary cast bandages don't help much when after a while you need to scratch by any means the covered area.

Not feeling like your limb is Cooking was my first thought too!! I only wore the back side of my foot and calf in plaster and then ACE bandages to wrap around to hold it on. Just that made me so hot!! Didn’t help that I wore that for 10 days I think and then an ortho boot (up to the knee) for the next 12 weeks, with the surgery that started it happening in May or June.

This Toilet Flushes By Using Your Foot
This mechanism is located in a toilet in Mexico and you don't have to be a germaphobe to appreciate it. Unsanitary public toilets can lead to gut infections, lung and skin infections as well as STDs. If a stool doesn't look clean but you really need to use it, consider using tissue paper to open its door, using the toilet seat cover, and if there isn’t one, cleaning the toilet seat with a tissue paper before using it or even hovering closely above the toilet.
This is actually pretty common in europe. Same system for the water to wash your hands..
You guys are so rich and slick! How can you make yourself be around the others? Is it hard to fit in, assimilate, accommodate and acclimate yourself into us, common citizens? (I am really 100 % just joking around, trying new words tehehe sorry! :)
Load More Replies...I'm sure some people are pigs and don't bother to flush at all.
Load More Replies...Touching the handle to flush doesn't bother me, it's people who leave without washing their hands whatever flush device there is!!
I totally agree with you. I try to avoid public toilets as much as possible, but when I have to go, it always surprises me the number of people who don't wash their hands afterwards. It's even more surprising in restaurants or bars... I'm always tempted to shout: you are going to eat, for f*** sake!!!! Wash your hands!!!
Load More Replies...Now this I love. I just hate touching anything in a public bathroom. I usually use my foot to flush the toilet.
If you wash your hands really well, you don't need this. You still need to touch the door to get out of the stall. Same hand that flushed touched the door.
And the door k**b is probably more full of germs than the button, because the toilet is usually cleaned quite often, but very few people bother to clean and disinfect the door k**b, or the light switches.
Load More Replies...All toilets flush using your foot.... if you can balance on one leg well enough.
People are funny! Although I understand the need to be clean, I can't understand this kind of obsession. They don't want to press the button to flush the toilet... yeah, Ok. There are things which are far dirtier!!! They don't want to touch the button, but they touch the door k**b, the tap, the thingy that holds the toilet paper... and they probably flush without closing the lid, which lets the tiny drops of water, pee and everything else jump in all directions! 😂😂😂 Stop being irrational; germs are everywhere! Wash your hands frequently and stop worrying so much!
This is the precursor to sensor flushing toilets and urinals which most major cities have now a days. Hands free for almost entire visit. Water facets, soap dispenser, hand dryer and toilets. Only thing you've got to touch is yourself and the door handle which by the way, is the most contaminated surface in the entire bathroom.
I also think that the door handles are the perfect home for germs of all sorts. I'm not touching them with my bare hands (tissue or TP will help :)

My Grocery Store Started Selling Overripe, Discount Bananas With A Recipe For Banana Bread On The Bag
This solution comes at a time when it's needed the most. Americans waste 150,000 tons of food each day – equal to a pound per person. Also, fruit and vegetables were the most likely to be thrown out, followed by dairy and then meat.
By the way, interestingly enough, banana bread is actually a somewhat young dish. It first became a standard feature of American cookbooks with the popularization of baking soda and baking powder in the 1930s.
Freeze them, then mush them up in the blender. Ta-da! Banana ice cream.

The Hotel I Am Staying At Has The Fire Evacuation Plans At Ground Level So You Can See Them If Smoke Has Filled The Hallways
This is especially thoughtful considering that smoke inhalation is the primary cause of death for victims of fires. Some 50–80% of all fire deaths are the result of smoke inhalation injuries, including burns to the respiratory system.
This is a really good idea, because people might be too panicky to remember what to do!
This is brolliant because honestly, who looks at those plans before there’s actually a fire?
I have stayed at several hotels that had "Exit" signs near the floor.
Having had a seriously excellent "fire safety briefing for hotels" once, I always count the doors between my room and the closest stairway. It's quick and easy and might save your life! Also, try to stay no higher than the 7th floor so fire extension ladders can reach your room. And a bunch of other safety info that was fascinating and useful and has probably saved a bunch of lives -- this man gave that briefing twice a year at a large military base, and so I know thousands of government workers heard it over the years.
Washing Your Hands To Flush The Toilette
Urinal-sink combos like this save water by reusing the hand-washing water to rinse out the urinal. Presumably, it could also allow bathrooms to be more compact and less expensive to install, as it replaces two appliances with one, thus requiring less plumbing works.
i have a feeling the terrible people here that exist would still p**s on the sink(but like more often now that they're right there)
Actually, the bad people can urinate on any surface of any public bathroom. But your suspicion that this is more likely here, demonstrates why this is actually a terrible solution. The design integrates cleaning and urinating, strongly suggesting to people (unconsciously) that they are bathing in pee pee. I'll bet this bathroom succeeds in convincing people not to wash their hands at all (making for a dirty bathroom door handle).
Load More Replies...Sorrry, but it is my belief that too many men believe that touching their penises while urinating is not worth a hand wash. I say Bravo! Except......how many don’t care bout flushing after either????
Great, now we can combine two bad habits into one: not washing your hands and not flushing...
The concept is good, but only if this is some super high end restaurant or something. Any guy will tell you that at lesser places the floor would be covered in p**s from the splash off the porcelain and no one would would get close enough to the sink to wash there hands. But I like the idea. Maybe this isn't a problem in other countries but go into a bathroom at say any bar in your local downtown around 1am. You wouldn't get close to that thing.
Damn, I would have peed in the sink, thinking the lower part was for little people.
I think we don't have a feeling of the hight of these things. Someone should be standing there (just for better perspective)

It's about time we got something like this. Rick Paulas of the Pacific Standard has compared the current design of many grocery stores to casinos. "There are lights and sounds that re-focus attention every micro-second, carpet on the ground to offer cushion for our feet, an open-flow space from the slot machines to the poker tables to the roulette. But what's more important is what's not there: clocks on the wall, bathrooms, escape routes. The reason is obvious — can't spend money if you're not present—and they point toward why supermarkets attempted to get their customers lost."
There is a reason this isnt a thing everywhere. Supermarket dont want you to know where things are, they want you to be slow, look at everything and buy more.
And they every few years change their whole layout, in hopes of you discovering new items

No petting, no taunting, no questionable treats, perfect! Just don't plan to spend the night there yourself. A writer for The Outline tried a similar booth and apparently they have cameras/sensors watching and the company will fine people who get in.
I would definitely put both of my kids in this, my dog never asks for every damn thing in the store.
Not sure about this. I'd rather not be put in an echoing metal box, and a dog is way more sensitive to sound...
Can I wait in there with my dog while my wife does the shopping? we can snuggle up together.
Our local grocery store chain has a tot spot to drop off your kids and a pup spot to drop off your dogs.
And no bars but closed doors! They had cages near a supermarket where I like to shop, but anybody could have thrown anything in there or done anything to the dogs. I know my neighbourhood, especially the bored teens, I'd never put my dog in there.
No different than people tying up their pooch outside the store. I've seen this all my life,

This Bathroom In The Atlanta Airport Has Lights To Let You Know If A Stall Is In Use
Manufactured by Tooshlights, the smart latch and deadbolt communicate wirelessly with the indicator light. When the stall is available, the light is green. When the stall is occupied and the smart latch or deadbolt is locked, the light illuminates red.
This is actually terrific bc ATL airport is one of the busiest airports in the U.S. It's easier to just see a light than to get halfway down and realize the door is shut only to walk back and the next person in line is taking a just open stall that u missed bc u were checking another one. Love this. Especially the stats on it being safer today. Fear is a powerful thing, and unfortunately fear mongering is a huge business.
Except the last stat is WRONG. Child abuse, molestation, sex trafficking is at an all time high.
Load More Replies...Well, I guess it depends on the neighbourhood and/or country this kid is wandering around in...
Very much so....a kid doing that in my city would very likely never be seen again.
Load More Replies...This is awesome. When I was a kid (in NYC no less!) mom would say 'go to the park!'. That was Central Park. We would go with the other kids in our building and catch tadpoles and crawdaddys and bring them home. She taught us to ride the subway when we were about 8, 9, and 10 (me the youngest, and my two older brothers). That independence has served me well.
It's kind of sad that children should carry this around to warn others that they are just "free range" children that actually are playing outside with their parent's consent. Not that that won't stop people to call the police and CPS on them. Because letting your child play outside is child abuse and not vaccinating them is "a right to choose not to vaccinate." /S
I'm gonna print this one right away and keep with me when I'm drunk.
People in my town wouldn’t care if they saw a kid walking by themselves... I would do it but I don’t go anywhere by myself because apparently it’s fun to drive slowly along whistling and yelling “hey girl” at a 15 year old?
hopefully the day will come when this isn't an issue. won't be for a long time tho since men in general get offended when anyone finds them offensive. then they cry the why they think only little girls do. we need to bring our boys up better. I am hopeful for the next generation.
Load More Replies...kids need to learn as they grow. make decisions, make mistakes, take responsibility for and correct those mistakes. how can they do this with constant supervision?
What times do we live in where children aren't allowed to be children anymore. I spent my entire childhood roaming free. Kids these days have it rough!
It's sad we need this. I walked to school a mile when I was in first grade! No problem!
I agree. My mother was fine with my being "free range", BUT I had to be within "yelling distance"....I should be close enough to home that if she walks out and yells for me to come in, I can hear her. The only time there was trouble was when I strayed outside the "yelling zone"...lol

To make your leftover pizza taste better, experts suggest reheating it face down in a pan and adding water to the bottom of the skillet. If you have to use a microwave, however, add a glass of water in there to avoid soggy crust.
pizza boxes aren't recyclable here so I set them down stairs on the concrete floor and let my male cats get the spraying urge out of their system. (-:
That is a great idea! We can recycle pizza boxes here but I used them for crafting (yes I clean them first silly). I have made a lot of paper storage boxes with them.
Load More Replies...Lol when you open a box and hope it’s full so this comes in handy
This Car Park In France Has Soft Barriers Between Parking Spaces To Stop People Scratching Other Cars
Probably gets people to park between the lines better, too! Just think of all the a**hole drivers that will be unable to use multiple spots at once!
That looks like a great idea but I can see myself getting all tangled up when trying to get the kids in the car
I can see myself getting all tangled up just getting in or out and I don't even HAVE kids. I Do sometimes have beers.
Load More Replies...Good idea, especially for people who take good care of their car, but get so scratched !!!
The volleyball comment made me think of the Haikyuu!! gang playing here when there's nowhere else to go.
The Inside Of The Pizza Box Was A Tuxedo
The organization behind the idea, Pizza Bib, offer custom designed boxes both outside and inside. "While sitting on the couch after a few too many beers our founder Jack decided to order his favorite pizza. Wearing his brand new t-shirt, he decided to use the ordinary pizza box as a bib, keeping his brand new t-shirt clean he thought about how you could add fun designs to keep himself clean and have a whole lot of fun."
This is unnecessary. Who eats pizza from the box itself? My family uses plates.
But who would eat pizza from the box? 99.9% of pizza lovers would use a plate.
This Menu In An Italian Restaurant, Is Shaped Like A Circle Showing You What The Type Of Pizza Would Look Like
This pizzeria is located in Prague, Czech Republic. According to the person who took this photo, "it's literally above the metro station of Chodov on the Red/C line!" If you still can't find it, just look for a sign that has a hotdog on it and says "Pizza." Ye, we know.
it says italian restaurant not italy. you are welcomed.
Load More Replies...Does the currency indicate Denmark or Sweden ? If the actual pizza looks anything like the menu photo, looks good. (Im italian)
Kč means Czech Crown. It's a currency in Czech Republic.

Commenting on this picture, some redditors remembered having the same setup in their Home Economics cooking classes all the way back in the 80s!
They watch him cook?? In Denmark we learn by doing in cooking class.
I was in a class like that last year, my teacher had it she showed us how to do it and where everything was and we did it the next day
Load More Replies...This is super helpful for short people like myself! I can never see over other people's heads!
Had this back in 1975 in Home Economics. It was the first year that the school had the girls do a semester of wood shop, and the guys did a semester of Home Economics. Taught us how to sew a button and cook. It was fun, ended up taking a full year of Home Economics Freshmen year because of the experience!
Back in the 80s and 90s we were expected to DO the cooking, not watch the teacher. Most people learn by doing not watching, because you can't develop muscle memory from watching something.
I was baffled too but from what people are saying, this is the pre class demo
Load More Replies...They should put these behind the students so the teachers can see what the students are doing.
This Shoe Shop Has An Area To Test Your New Shoes, Containing Lego
Reportedly, this test "track" is located in a Leguanos store which sells the so-called barefoot shoes, really bendy shoes that supposedly make you feel like you're barefoot.
If a 25 years old man is caught building lego instead of walking on it, what is the punishment? Asking for a friend.
While your asking, what about a 53 year old woman?
Load More Replies.....Since how well my shoes works on LEGO is the biggest question however I'd buy them or not...
If it feels like you are barefoot, why would you want to test on LEGO anything???
Don't know why, but periodically, on Bored Panda, there is an invasion of Super Smart People that have to comment every single picture with their negative and disruptive comments. Do they problem of lack of attention from other people? Why not just skipping BP and discharging your negativity on another similar website? Jeez, so annoying...
There are some really amazing ideas/solutions here that I would love to see used all over the world. Maybe we can all work together to get these constructed where needed. This thread also inspires me to come up with more ideas for people from all walks of life.
SAME!!! I was looking at the article earlier. I had to go somewhere without WiFi, but i left the tab on. When I got back I intended to be on #92, but I was on #12...bored panda, no offence, but you guys have GOTTA stop doing that.

The cast one was ingenious, I'm wearing a cast right now for my ankle surgery recovery. Everything becomes 100x harder when you can't walk and it's such a pain to shower. (Tip: Buy a knee scooter, not crutches. Your armpits will thank you.)
I remember being thankful I had a removable shower head so I could tie by leg up in a garbage bag and hang it out the side of the tub while I lay on my back. Sucked so much!
Load More Replies...I always thought designers should really listen to what people who actually use stuff have to say. Looking pretty doesn't mean something is designed well.it is also very refreshing to see how those who have been excluded from the simple pleasures that "normal" folk enjoy are now a part of design decisions. Work on the black hole interior of a woman's purse next. I have found stuff I hadn't seen since the third grade in some of my black interior bags. Screwdriver, superglue, Swiss Army knives, jellybeans with hair. It's an adventure. Nothing living so far.
Yup. LED lights on Christmas sweaters are a silly wasteful use of electronics; sticking one inside a purse would be clever. So would a gray or tan lining.
