His Girlfriend Told Him He’s Not Allowed To Have Geeky Stuff In The House. Here’s What He Did
631Kviews
Thanks to the internet, geek culture is becoming more and more accepted, but there are still places where people who love all things fantasy and sci-fi face withering discrimination. One brave imgur user whose girlfriend forbids him from having geeky stuff anywhere other than the basement shared images of the subtle and funny ways in which he resists her tyranny – which is mainly by hiding little geeky toys in hard-to-spot places.
There’s one catch, though – the guy’s basement is a geeky manchild’s paradise, complete with an arcade, a home theater, and a mouth-watering collection of videogames and boardgames. So who do you think is in the wrong?

“My gf told me I’m not allowed to have any geeky stuff upstairs, it all goes in the basement.”
“Never underestimate a manchild.”
Meanwhile, this is how his basement looks:

> My gf told me I’m not allowed (...) I sincerely hope it's a joke, a simplification rather than an example of your "mutual understanding".
Yeah. The dude should really grow some balls :D
What? Balls are tender and easily damaged. Now a vagina- tough
Ugh, one of my biggest pet peeves is hearing someone say their significant other won't "allow" them something.
Well, living together often means compromising.. I'm not 'allowed' to paint the walls pink, my boyfriend can't have his Lego in every room.
I think it's a joke, since the basement looks like perfect place to live D:
DID YOU SEE THE LAST PICTURE? dude has a complete flat in the basement full of his nerd crap.. 1/2
i think it was meant to be fun way to explain that all that nerdy stuff would ruin the interior so he has his own place in the basement 2/2
I'll never understand why people without shared interests get together - find yourself a nice nerdy girl, dude.
Just bcause they don't share this interest doesn't mean they don't share any other interests!
Really? The guy shoving all of his stuff into the basement tells a different story. "I have my space, and you have yours" Sounds healthy!
But having other interests doesn't fix her wanting to control what he does and doesn't enjoy.
I don't understand too. Be geek is the coolest thing in the world :) I'm a geek and my boyfriend too. It's amazing be yourself!
yeah, like really really weird sex
Opposites attract, having your own space isn't a bad thing.
That is a pretty cool basement/man cave.
Well, if they have an agreement on it then it's fine! My bf doesn't like my WoW action figures so I keep them on my computer desk
and he keeps the stuff I'm not so keen on on his PC desk :D Works perfectly! Our own little space and then the rest is stuff we both like!
Me neither.
yo, just because i like nerdy things doesnt mean i want my whole house decked out like that basement.
Do they both pay rent? Are both names on the lease? Then that should be a discussion, not a "You can't have them in the house!" statement.
The basement is awesome, I could definitely live here, but seriously, find another girlfriend, this one is not good enough for you.
Dun say that. He 's got the best of both world :)
That's exactly what my now-hubby did :)
My GF told me the same thing; that's why she is my "X" GF. good luck dude
EXACTLY... my first move in GF had her stuff moved back to her mothers house in less than three weeks due to her whiny bitchiness
His basement looks better than my living room... :(
Myself and my boyfriend have our nerd stuff everywhere. I'd never tell him he couldn't show his stuff off or limit him to one area.
The livingroom looks sterile, like an ikea showroom^^. Potpourri-are you serious?!
Maybe surprise her with some Alien vs. Predator posters. If that doesn´t cause domestic violence..
I LOVE the basement! ;) its better than the rest of the house! I would stay there the whole day! :)
I understand how his gf feels, my bf is a warhammer player and there are miniatures, paintbrushes, foamboard and citadel paints everywhere
omgomgomgomg >_< <3 that basement!!!! hahahaha i hope you have more hidden treasures lying in wait around the house!!! lol ^_^
Sigh. Don't hate on the girl. He has an entire floor to himself for this interest. I'm all into geeky, but I wouldn't want it in my upstairs
It's a nice place for any guest upstairs and a geeky wonderland below. Seems like a good deal to me
The gf is probably scared that the whole house would look like the basement thats why XD I wouldn't mind having my house like that boyfriend
*my house like that if I had a boyfriend*
But check out his place/space tough
the "basement" look like this http://imgur.com/a/hlLl5 He doesn't seem that restricted ^^
I need his basement
When all that shit is worth a bunch of money she will be singing a different tune.
You know what destroys most nerds' confidence? Jealousy. Nerds are superior in every possible way to a normal person. Why? They pay more attention to life, and how they can live it. The jealousy of such knowledge infects and angers those around them, leading to this ugly thing known as prejudice, which manifests in practices like discrimination. Such discrimination is often en-masse, 100-1, so the poor dude/tte has no chance if he is targeted. S/he will simply crumble under the pressure, becoming withdrawn, shy, possibly even depressed and/or suicidal. What good reason would our world have to break such a good soul? You know who you are.
Shoot... I'd love to be your nerdy girlfriend. I'd love to play some DnD or MTG with you for sure!
I hate the term manchild, it is so sexist. I happen to be the adult child and a woman in my relationship, I want the geeky basement, and I have a partner who is not interested at all. I am the womanchild, a rare breed.... Apparently
I have a big who has never seen a Star Wars movie and who just started watching Harry Potter last year (we've been together 6 years). I have all my action figures, wands , toys, etc all over the house and even tho he doesn't really care for them he's never once asked me or told me I can't have them displayed in the house. Our place still looks nice and adult like even though we have a 2 foot tall Ash doll and various other stuff around the house. It's all in how you present it
gees your house is tidy..
He needs to grow up a bit I think, does he not know what females are for .
Don't call this guy a man-child, playing with toys doesn't make you a kid. A man-child is a wuss emotionally.
I actually prefer the basement ! It's warmer and funnier. Upstair looks like a lifeless interior of a catalogue...
I LOVE this! A brilliant way of combining individual tastes. It would be fun for visitors too... beautiful subtle Geek boy humour.
Uh, if he has a whole room devoted to the stuff, yeah he needs to let her have her space and shared space without the toys.
I like both places.
Maybe the house is owned by the gf:P
She wants a Magazine Cover. She will need meds t Cope with Children, or it will destroy her.
GF's decor? Tasteful, but cold and showcased. Does give the basement more impact, though. The basement? ABSOLUTE DREAM. INVITE ME OVER.
I love how all these geeky toys were so well hidden through out the entire home! Regardless of those surprises, the home still looks great!
I want his basement! I would be so happy if i have a boyfriend like this!!
hâhhahaha oh man
I think the basement looks better than upstairs.
If the GF allowed in the basement?
"Manchild?" Oh yes, you guys are completely non-judgmental of his hobbies. Well done.
Love that man cave
When i think of basements I think of creepy old concrete messes. Not this
That house is hideous. The basement is awesome though.
He can't have "geeky stuff" but she can have plastic grass? ewww
this is funny......but he should put some geeky mural on the wall when she isnt in the house XD
Girlfriend wants the most boring baron house in the universe?
yeahhh well, she's too strict with her "IDEAL" designs for the place. least she allowed you to keep the basement for yourself.
I felt sorry for him until I saw the basement
That basement is awesome! Tell your girlfriend to lighten up!
it should be a shared space; after saying that though I won't allow stuffed animal heads anywhere but his den.
Genialt :)
He really needs a new girlfriend. I know dozens of geeky chicks who'd be happy to share that space.
basement is way way way(!) cooler than the rest of the house. I would like to let you show it in the main room of the flat :D
this house is incredible! dump the girl keep your nice house
I am looking for dining chairs like the ones pictured here...please pist the name of the company.
They look like ones from Ikea! Henriksdal is the name of them.
Yep, it's time to move on. There are plenty geeky women out there.
I'd tell her, 'No geekiness, no fake plants.'
Time to get new girlfriend! But epic secret geeking.
Haha, wow, what a pathetic bitch. No way I'd put up with that shit.
If I had a geeky bf like you I would let you put anything anywhere!
Women have not only achieved equal rights, equal professional status and salaries, they overcame Men , and are ruling their lives like moms
who is the boss in this relationship? I would never tell my husband where he can & can't put the things he likes. I love him too much 4 that
Dump her and get someone who accepts you for who you are.
Dump the bitch and get a nerd girl, dude. Unless you live in her house and don't mind being, essentially, a guest.
If my significant other told me what I could and couldn't have in the house, they'd become insignicant PDQ.
He should've dumped her lol. His man cave is cooler than the entire pretentious art collection.
Dump her. She's obviously got control issues and the guy's a grown man. He should be able to put whatever he wants up in his own house.
Finding a GF that is cool would have been alot easier.
Forget people who don't love you for who you are
THAT IS FANTASTIC, LOVE HIS ORIGINALITY.. the girlfriend not not that cool.
Dude I want my entire house to look like your basement! Your "girlfriend" needs to lighten up.
My first thought was "bitch."
poor guy tssskkkk
Let him express himself throughout the home. He lives there too.
if you're significant other is stopping you from being you, you're with the wrong person
stupid girlfriend
Dafuq? I'm a neat-freak woman married to a messy husband for 16 years. She needs to chill. Wait until you have kids. Talk about a mess.
She sounds like someone who really enjoys your playful passive aggressiveness too. Good find.
Un-wife her.
Un-wife her!
change GF, that's what you should do.
change GF. That's what you should do.
I want to live in his basement, and i'm a girl!
Geek stuff would be an improvement over that hideous crap she calls decor. This dude needs to grow a pair.

Does she have equal space for her collections? Living areas are common, They made an agreement, He is disrespecting her.
Maybe she needs to understand who the head of the household is, and if this had been my house originally she and her attitude would be out
