Game of Thrones' final season is over, and a lot of people are pretty disappointed with the way it ended. From character arcs abruptly ended to holes in the story and uncalled for plot twists, it seems that the necessary deviation from George RR Martin's books didn't go as well as people had hoped, and for many, the grand Game of Thrones finale seemed a little rushed.
Sometimes it's best not to know how your hotdog is made, and the same goes about knowing all about behind the scenes of TV shows, in my opinion. GoT's "Inside The Episode" gives viewers insights from showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, in what ought to be a fascinating peek behind the curtain of this cultural phenomenon. Instead, it often comes off rather bland, taking the magic away from the series and making it appear that many of the storyline decisions were made off-the-cuff, like when it was mentioned that "Dany kind of forgot about the Iron Fleet." Not only it takes aways most of the magic, but it also showcases the bloopers and blunders the viewers might otherwise haven't noticed.
Viewers, some looking for someone to blame for their disappointment, jumped on this casual statement and turned it into a hilarious GoT meme, something that can explain certain other areas of the story that didn't quite work out. We here at Bored Panda have collected a few of our favorites here, scroll down below to check the funny memes out and let us know what you think in the comments!

Well, sadly that's kind of true. Every "Inside the episode" video is just about the amazing work the crew did on the visual aspect and how much time and effort they put on every scene, but they never talk about the story or how much time it took to write the script.
Unfortunately it really came across this way. They definitely didn't spend two year on the script.
And we all know thanks to good ol' wise Tyrion, that people love stories...
What would you done differently in the final season of Game of Thrones? Artist Benjamin Dewey, who illustrated the scenes that could’ve made him enjoy it more, spoke to Bored Panda about his appropriately titled series The Scenes I Wish We’d GoT.
“In 2008, a friend of mine, Wendy (who has since passed away) worked at a local book retailer (Powells). When I told her that I liked dragons, monsters, and knights, she said, ‘You’ve got to read this series of books; they’re amazingly detailed fantasy’ and she gave me a Game Of Thrones,” Benjamin told Bored Panda. “I will admit I didn’t totally get it at first but by the end of that book, I was a fan. Now I’m a super-fan and I’ve read as much of the supplemental material as I can get. Like most folks, I cannot wait for Winds of Winter.”
Jon was the prince that was promised: He was a prince by virtue of being Aegon Targaryen and he successfully defeated both threats to the world: Ice as represented by the White Walkers, and then the fire of the Targaryens. He quite literally stood up to two dragons, one of ice, one of fire. Now his watch is ended and he's returned to the north where he always belonged. The prophecy said the PRINCE that was promised, not the KING, so I've no idea why people are suprised or disappointed that he doesn't sit on the throne.
I kept arguing that there was no way Jon would take the throne because he's essentially a dead man walking and as soon as he's done what he's been brought back to do, he'll die. Now I know why that didn't happen. I just want to know who put a deadline on this show that they rushed so hard to get it all in.
His purpose was to unite the world against the night king to prevent the longest night. Job done.
That's stupid and not true. Stop whining. He united Ice&Fire against the Night King and killed Daenerys the Mad Queen. He's a hero and he fulfilled his destiny, he just wasn't meant to be the King.
Buuuut in that scene she's talking to Selyse (Stannis' wife) about how she doesn't need illusions to convince Selyse that The Lord Of Light is real and all that stuff. What if she was talking about her own appearance? And that Selyse saw her as an old woman in that scene, they just didn't let us see it for some reason?
She become old twice after taking off the necklace, but there are two times she's without the necklace and doesn't turn old, so... I guess magic is not linked to the necklace, just coincidence.
No, they didn't, cause she takes it off and literally dies right then and there
she usually is an old lady when she takes her necklace off
Load More Replies...Nope, that's not true. It was NEVER said the necklace was what allowed her too look young and beautiful. Just another stupid fan theory.
“I am a sucker for fantasy in general but I especially love when stories build their momentum from the nature of their characters,” the artist said. “I like a spectacle as much as anyone but I tend to dislike it if it’s just for its own sake. George R.R. Martin understands that the fantastical should be pressed into the service of illuminating the tragedies and triumphs of everyday life.”
“Daenerys rides a dragon but at the end of the day, she is seeking comfort and safety of the house with the red door. We like her because we understand her motivations. That amalgamation of the quotidian and the spectacular is in perfect balance in A Song of Ice and Fire.”
it was already explained on freefolk, the Night King is terrible artist. He was trying to draw a wheelchair to warn Westeros against Bran.
Then why do Children of the Forest also use this symbol for their stone arrangements?
Load More Replies...The person that made these memes is an idiot. The night king and white walkers were created by the children of the forest to defend them against the first men. The night king and the army of the dead then wanted to kill the 3 eyed raven as he knew all of the earths past. The white walkers learnt about the symbols from the children of the forest and copied. There meaning remains unknown even in the books because of how ancient they are.
Do you realize that the book is not complete but the show is?
Load More Replies...I got so frustrated with the show because they just didn't bother to cover important facts and details. I can't tell you how many times I would ask my friends who read the books a question about a plot point on the show and they'd respond with "well, if you read the book it was explained". Not good enough! The show should have been able to make sense without having to read the books.
Our minds are swirling as to why GOT writers killed off Army of the Dead. Do they think their audience was stupid? #yes #we’renot
The Swirly was not a wheelchair. The children of the forest arranged their stonehenge in the same pattern. We have no idea what the symbol means. We also have no idea why whitewalkers took babies - why replicate when you are immortal? We have no idea why wildlings knew to give the babies. We have no idea why Night King wanted Bran (being a collective memory is absurd, we have the citadel and all its history books), and there's definitely a connection between Night King and Bran that isn't explained. Also, if Night King has some Bran powers, wouldn't he have known Arya was gonna jump him? Also if Night King represents death, how can he be defeated? The purpose of life is figuring out how to live life with death - a better approach would've been a new treaty with the whitewakers.
Danny's battle flag looked almost identical to the fire symbol the Night King made in one of the Crow castles. Both loosely resemble a turning wheel which Danny referred to numerous times. It's the wheel of time, representing repetition of the battles with fire and ice. Of humanity's never ending grind against tyrants. Danny broke the wheel, but only when John killed her.
And then promote him to King of the Six Kingdoms. Who saw that coming? No one.
Well that's truth, I never understood, but my big fantasy have space to play this way ;)
That's true. You gave him a much bigger role than he should have had. It just really sucked.
after Hodor and his Direwolf died, he didnt take over anything or one except Crows.. whats a waste... did he try to take over the dead dragon??? or the Mountain??? He could of taken over a dothraki
Why not make superman President too. Seriously, Bran is now a demigod - how is that an appropriate ruler? What kind of precedent does that set? He's basically a pharoah.
Benjamin believes that a huge reason why the last season of the TV show declined is story compression. “It’s just what happens sometimes. Actors get older, budgets are set, contracts run out and shooting locations become unavailable. George R.R. Martin wants to do two more books that have fifteen hundred-page manuscripts. He takes a long time because it is difficult to structure such an intricate web of characters.”
“The showrunners are out over their skis and faced the unenviable task of trying to compress two novels worth of story into six episodes of television. Adapting great books with a fresh cast produces better results than trying to hastily tie a bow on an unfinished epic.”
While not using any of her face shifting assassin skills...
Load More Replies...Uh, she killed the Freys, Littlefinger, Ser Meryn Trant, The Waif, The Night King and others...is that not sufficient for you?
And, unfortunately, only used that power a few times—but those times were spectacular. She should have been the one to kill Cersei. GOT writers blew this one badly.
We all knew Jon wouldn't be king. It would be way too obvious and cliched - although historically that's how monarchy IS decided. And going off to live in the north makes sense. But the particular ending doesn't gel. He is the true hero with THE most amazing story - and he just fizzles off into obscurity. This was definitely a case where the logic of the final position makes sense, but the explanation or journey in getting the doesn't make sense.
It's a matter of honor. If that was agreed then that's what he has to do. And they very clearly said that the nights watch will continue to exist because there will always be need of a place for basterds and criminals.
Yeah but he doesn’t stay at Castle Black for his watch. He hauls a*s with the wildlings to live North of the wall.
Load More Replies...Who said the night’s watch was non existent? For hundreds if not thousands of years they had a nights watch even though people believed the “others” never existed or hadn’t existed for a long long time.
But what the point of having a Night's Watch now? The threats are gone. It will just be a glorified prison.
Load More Replies...There were others that wanted Jon dead.. Like that one clan, the sister with the brother that got his d**k cut off. People in Westros were also angry with Jon, not just unsuilled.
Face it, Jon Snow came full circle. Disappointing end. What’s he supposed to watch now?
They would have killed first all the north army, but yeah whi cares? You just want to complain
He killed the queen after "Bending the Knee"... This couldn't go unpunished.
"After all, Game of Thrones is a show that is in competition with a superior earlier iteration of itself. “I Just Called To Say I Love You is a fine song but when you compare it to Superstition there’s no contest regarding which version of Stevie Wonder is preferable. Bad is relative. I think it’s not all the things that fans wanted and there are probably a ton of reasons for that. I am torn between sympathy for [the writers of the HBO series] and frustration that some of the choices being made feel truncated and undermining of all the set-up we were given. There’s one left so maybe they’ll pull off an amazing finale but I’m measuring my expectations.”
“My wife has taught me that it’s possible to just enjoy that parts of a cultural artifact that moves you and not write off the whole thing just because it’s imperfect. It’s a good lesson. Everything has flaws.”
No, this was definitely to show how the Night King was creating others like him. They didnt "forget" that one.
The babies were taken to be the Night King's lieutenants me thinks
Definitely, when he raises the dead they are not the same people and are mindless but a baby that is still alive when he changes it might still be able to function 'normally' and that's where his friends come from
Load More Replies...i assumed they grew fast into the white walkers... didnt jon kill 2, sam killed one... each time we only saw about 4 on horseback with the night ing, till the end then their were more..
Maybe it was just there to show how Night Walkers came to be and why they were being taken?
White Walkers were Crasus sons, the wights were the dead. (humans, giants, bear, dragon, etc)
Load More Replies...I think it was just to show how evil the Night King was? He would kill a baby? I mean, did you want the baby to fight in the final battle?
neah. It was to show us how he made his liuetenants. He didn't want to be the only blue-eyed undead being on Planetos, I guess.
Load More Replies...And then why there are only 13 white walkers? Seems like it was a slow strenght building for 8000 years. :) And its funny to see you vividly defending the show but argue over only every 10th mistake. How about the others?
Load More Replies...She was riding black horse when she was on eer killing path, so White horse was a sign she is done with being noone
Yea but it was just gone in the next episode, which seemed like a few minutes later for us.
Load More Replies...The little girl she was trying to save was holding a white wooden horse I thought it was a symbol that she 'lived on' and that's why Arya was quite emotional when she saw it
Idk? Hope? Beauty in the darkness? Make it what you want, use your own imagination.
We were all asking, “Where’s the white horse?” One week later, and we’re still asking, “What happened to the white horse?”
Benjamin is disappointed that we went speeding past important stretches of the story “to land the plane before it falls apart.” He said he understands it but it feels avoidable. “Most people don’t have creative jobs so they don’t understand the pressures and vulnerability involved in creating art for others but even though I make stories for a living, I can only imagine what it feels like to be the people working on the show. It’s a global phenomenon. Billions of people have opinions but due to lack of access to a deep knowledge of the process, most of them are uninformed and unproductive when it comes to writing, film or art. Audiences feel many things about the media they engage with and even when they love a thing, it’s not always a positive relationship."
“However, I like that more people are starting to talk about story, plot and character arcs and I’d encourage anyone who has a ton of ideas about ‘what they should have done’ to go produce your own stories,” he added. “I’m really hoping that instead of people just offering an endless deluge of bitter critiques that we might get some really cool and fun new worlds to explore. I feel inspired to make the best things I can and I’ve learned some important lessons, to apply to my own stories from watching this final season.”

This one isn't true. He probably wouldn't of killed Dany if he wasn't afraid that she would turn on him and his family because of his perentage.
Jon being the true heir to the throne underpinned Tyrion's argument that they should choose a king by his character, not his lineage. I think everyone still thought Jon would be king until Tyrion nominated Bran. Jon was the obvious choice by lineage, but not circumstance or character.
That's one of the f*****g reason Daenerys became crazy. One of the most important. This top is a f*****g joke.
The main reason he killed mad queen was because he was Targaryan...
Wait a second, she bought 8000 Unsullied, and 5000 still in training from Astapor. Some of them perished in Meereen ok, some of them perished in battle of Winterfell, but the ones in the final episode surely don't look even remotely close to 1000 or so... Nobody ever hinted in the show that she lost all of them in battle, same as with her Dothraki troops, we saw a bunch of them perishing in the opening of the battle, but that doesn't mean she sent in ALL of them. Try to remember how many she recruited after burning the Khals, and how many charged for the fight.
No they haven't. We can clearly see Jorah and a small group of Dothrakis retreating after their failed attack. We just don't see how many of them actually escaped.
That may be true....but...there are more Dothrakis here than there was on ep 3.....explain that...
Load More Replies...Computer-generated Unsullied. Guess the writers got carried away multiplying them.
This I agree with. Though I refuse to believe there were that many Dothraki alive at the end. When they retreated behind the gates of Winterfelk during the battle with the white walkers, there was quite a number of Unsullied but literally just a handful of Dothraki.
This is fantasy, their like Germlins, get them wet and they multiple! Or was it fed after midnight!!?
I thought all the dothraki died in episode 3, but somehow they all managed to live
It was an all out war for survival, and you think they didn't use all the troops they had available? Right. Give me a break.
Load More Replies...I think we have never more than 20-25% The others were here: Logistic and administration: 10% Training and further education like language of the area they are operating in: 10% Occupation of large areas: 30-35% Recreation and healing: 10% Organising Food, Clothes and maintaing or make Weapons 10% On it’s way to or from Frontlines 5% Airforce: Self maintaining.
Whatever gave you that idea? Did you get GoT mixed up with Riddick Chronicles? Usually a dead Khal's khalasar falls appart and the former kos become khals.
they cut down all the trees to make the scorpions :))))
Load More Replies...Is it just me, or were the towers farther in mainland, instead of out in the middle of the bay?
I like to think that the confrontation w cersei took place at a checkpoint far from the city center. Its not impossible that KL extends beyond this verdant shore
Sam is the older brother. That’s the whole freaking reason he got sent to the night’s watch. 😂
People who think Sam is the older - are you serious? Why was Sam sent to the Night Watch then?
I think sams dad sent him to castle black because he wad supposed to be the heir but his a*****e dad hated him. If dickon was the heir thered be no reason to send sam up north
Load More Replies...Sam was older than Dickon and the heir to the Tarley House. Randall thought Sam wouldn't represent the House as a Tarley( with bravery) should so he made him take the black. That gave Dickon all rights as you relenquish your rights to hold any land or take a wife when you are on the Nights Watch.
Load More Replies...This is just dumb. Perhaps the people making these memes should watch less complicated shows. Apparently a lot of stuff went over their heads.
exactly, he defeated the Boltons uniting the north against the night king.

So who pays back the Golden Company or are they now called the Golden Person since that's all that's left there :)
because Aiden jhas blue eyes in real life too
Load More Replies...maybe Frey's sons had green eyes? or that annoying girl at the house of black & white.
Uhm, I didn't notice the eye colour of ever single person she ever killed, BUT, 1) She poisoned and killed a bunch of people while wearing Walder Frey's face, any one of them could have had green eyes, and 2) Even though we won't see it, she's probably gonna live for a while longer, there will probably be some green eyed kill somewhere in her future. Melisandre didn't say that all those kills had to be by the end of season 8.
GOT writers missed a huge opportunity to have Arya kill GREEN-EYED Cersei. Big, big error.
did they think fans wouldn't catch that or didn't care? Bastard surnames are kind of a big deal in the both the books and film. They were slipping all season.
There is actually an argument that this is not a mistake, just something not properly explained. Gendry certainly never had the surname Waters. Bastard names are actually a privilige, sort of semi-legitimacy. They are only given to a bastard when a noble father admits that they are his offspring, but are born out of wedlock and don't have full rights. A bastard name indicates some kind of semi-nobility, as commoners often do not have surnames. Robert never recognized Gendry as his son, so he had no surname. However, when knighted, people can choose their own surnames. Gendry was knighted in the Riverlands, so it is plausable that he chose to embrace his own bastardry and opted for a bastard name from the Riverlands.
Load More Replies...Not even that. Bastards only get the regional surnames when they're recognized as a bastard by their noble father. Robert never even knew about him, he's supposed to have no last name.
Apparently in the books its explained that gendry was named rivers because he learned of his parentage as Roberts bastarf in the riverlands. Before that no one had ever botherer to give him a last name
Right? I was like where did those "extra" Dothraki come from at Kings Landing after getting swamped by the White Walkers
Really, after the battle Grey Worm said that HALF of the Unsullied were lost. Same was said about Dothraki. 50% is not "basically all".
He's a eunuch, which means castrated, which means his testicles have been removed, not his penis.
It was all removed according to the books. There was a brief yet specific reference to the same in the show.
Load More Replies...@ Jennifer. No he's not a eunuch. He's UNSULLIED. They are cut "root and stem"
Everyone ever heard of a common piece of medieval clothing and armory called a codpiece?
I noticed that myself.......apparently Greyworm goes commando and it is quite obvious!! LOL
I thought I was seeing things and its not even discreet but I must say he is hung like a horse very well endowed
Nope. He stole books when he rushed out of the citadel to Winterfell with the intention of finding out how to defeat the Night King. He borrowed the book he used to cure Ser Jorah.
Load More Replies...Computer-generation can be wonderful, and it can be audience-trickery.
Oh yeah like in "those times" people actually thought about alcohol being harmful to a pregnant woman lol
In the middle ages, typically people would drink watered down wine through the day. As the water wasn't safe to drink, most people drank small ale (less alcohol) or wine.
Load More Replies...Yeah, her ob-gyn totally should have warned her! Or at least she could have googled it. *Facepalm*
In all seriousness, it was safer to drink beer or wine as the water carried all sorts of icky microbes (like cholera).
The witch said she would hve 3 kids nd they all would die, but acutally 4 of her kids died cause she was pregnant
She drank through Joffrey's pregnancy for sure. It explains a lot.
Uh, that pregnancy was referred to many times and it explained why Cersei didn't just kill herself or surrender immediately.
Edmure and Robyn were both there at the meeting that picked Bran as king and not all characters in a story have ongoing importance to the story. Why would need to know what happened to the Iron Bank employee? I had a lot of issues with the last couple of seasons but some of these complaints are kinda dumb.
And that is why an additional season may have been a decent idea. But conversely, I do not think that closing every single arc is a necessity or even a good idea. The ending would have taken ages and fans would have complained anyway...
Nothing worse than a die hard GoT fan. The season sucked!
Load More Replies...Edmure and Robyn Arryn were both in the final episode. Daario, I definitely missed. I would love to see his reaction to Dany's death. As for the rest? I literally do not care about any of these other characters. LOL, sorry not sorry.
That red priestess has every opportunity to bring Dany back to life. Just sayin. Why wouldn’t Drogon fly back to Mireen?!? 😂
I believe that Howland Reed was also there during the final episode.. Obviously not played by that actor but yes he was there.
Have you even seen the show ? If you don't have 30 reasons then don't do a f*****g top 30.
This is stupid. In a War Negotiation, no sides ever attacks the other one — it's common knowledge for ages. Had she killed Tyrion, she'd been f****d that very moment.
Except after killing missandei cersei threw all diplomacy out of the water and it was def out of character for her not to have them attack AT LEAST tyrion.
Load More Replies...Okay, color me crazy, but I thought that this was Qyburn's machination and not Cersei's. I took it that Qyburn wanted Jaime and Tyrion dead because he was obsessed with Cersei. I could be wrong.
Stupid meme. It was a parley, there are some basic rules EVERYBODY must respect, not killing the ambassadors or any negotiating parts being the most important one.
It's easier to think of killing your brothers when they're not standing in front of you.
There is still sun in the winter tho lol and KL is south so not as much snow
Still didn't look anything like this in earlier seasons.
Load More Replies...wasnt it starting to snow in Kings Laning when Jaime went north???
the red keep didnt fall, jaime killed the mad king and surrendered the red keep
Yep, seems that some "fans" just didn't follow the story.
Load More Replies...I thought the targaryens rule from dragonstone not King's landing
Well now that was quite a surprise tu discover on the real problem of the end of this show here in this ocean of incompetence. The show has no specifically hard incoherence, the end is simply rushed.
In many societies unmarried women are supposed to be virgins, in most of those unmarried women often aren’t however
Margery wildely insinuate she had sex before wedding. This top is just getting more ridiculous.
Load More Replies...Tyrion forgot that a high born lady with her virginity intact is a good thing and much sought after in a medieval setting.
Bullshitous meme. Getting pregnant is a hard process — some couples tries for months — and medieval people had plenty of grass root ways to get rid of fetuses.
This is not accurate. It is not “hard” to get pregnant in a population sense. If it were, there wouldn’t be so many teen and unwanted pregnancies. Some couples struggle with infertility, but these are a distinct minority of the population (but their struggles are magnified b/c they are vocal about it). Also, there are no “grass root ways” to “get rid of fetuses”. If there were, abortion wouldn’t be such a divisive issue (indeed, it would not be an issue at all, if people could just drink fictitious “moon tea” like in GRRM’s books).
Load More Replies...This is cringeworthy dumb. What does virginity have to do with contraception FFS?!
Seriously? That's bs. Women got it on back then and if they accidently got pregnant they would get married immediately.
yeah, after the war of the dead, grey worm said a third died.
The more further down I read this post, my initial slight feeling of regret...... has turned into a gargantuan disappointment :-/ Still not signing that entitled petition though, sometimes you simply don't get what you want......
Come on, neither the petition's creator nor most of the people signing it actually believe that the series will be rebooted. It's just a good way of quantifying how poor the writing was since season 7: basically more than 1.5 million people are at least as disappointed as you!
