It's all about low storage requirements (local surveillance). Low resolution and low frame rate equals the c**p still photo above. That lets them save a lot more footage on their servers. Looks like c**p but if it works for their purposes then it's the right way to go.

I don't agree. I think most people love to see the awesome power of a space rocket lifting off and flying. Seeing one blow up isn't nearly as cool and it's a tragedy when people are on board. NASCAR, on the other hand is boring EXCEPT when cars are crashing.
