I am Nathan Olsen, a 44-year-old cartoonist from Long Beach, California.
I started Sundae Comics in 2019 as a tribute to my childhood heroes, the newspaper cartoonists I grew up reading in the 1980s. I wanted to create a series to explore all of the different genres and storytelling techniques that I enjoyed in those old comic strips and mash them together in weird and (hopefully) interesting ways.
Presented here are the comics I've created over the past two years. Follow me on Instagram or visit my website to keep updated and check out my other works!

When I watched the flash i wondered why barry wasn't extremely smart because he should be able to think much faster
I remember seeing a comic in which he resuced a bunch of people, rebuilt a building ( up to code!) and repaired a girl's teddy bear in like 5 min. I guess that never got on the show
Load More Replies...this reminds me of the mt gordo ghost on gta 5. BACKSTORY: Former stunt man and now politician Jock Cranley had a wife named Jolene Cranely Evans. In the early 70s Jolene wanted to move out of the city of Los Santos while Jock, wanting to keep his happy life in the city, not wanting to move. One day on a hike on Mount Gordo, the couple still having different thoughts on moving, Jock pushed Jolene off a cliff causing her to die from her severe injuries. Until this day her ghost can be seen on that same cliff with the name Jock written in blood under her. You cannot get too close to her as her ghost with disappear. She only will come out during 11pm and midnight, which in in-game time is only 2 minutes. Here is a Picture of her ghost: download-1...84114.jpeg
"I stole your care and sold it to use the money for myself, but I am the one who tells you off because I am a toxic bitch".
These are all nostalgia. I like all of these comics. Childhood reminded. https://debtadvicehelp.org/

Yes, Mary Shelley is the author of the novel. To Purple Boi: FACT: Did you know that this year is the 90th anniversary of the movie Frankenstein starring Boris Karloff? #nerdtrivia

I've always wondered why so many superhero costumes looked like that. I know it's not underwear, but it totally looks like underwear.
Back in the day with limited color schemes and poor printing quality the "underwear" helped define the torso and legs, and add a splash of color. It's also reminiscent of the circus strongman look of the time. It's definitely outdated by now and only kept for nostalgia/tradition.

This bums me out, but this one is a redrawn gag from Mad Magazine. Quite a few others are either full-on Mad comics redrawn or are very derivative. They are still really funny, but come on. If I can find them, maybe I'll submit them in a post.
My jokes and my art are entirely my own. If other people have made similar jokes about super speed characters, its probably because we are all working with the same material. Unfortunately there is just no way to ensure that whatever dumb joke I come up with in my head hasn't been done by someone somewhere at some point in the last 100 years. However, if you actually do think my work is so good that it reminds you of those great Mad artists, perhaps you might consider following my Instagram? That way you'll get to read more great new comics that remind you of the work you enjoyed years ago.
Load More Replies...Nathan, I really like your art, and I know you mention that they are somewhat based on old comics from when you were a kid, but quite a few are either full-on Mad comics redrawn or are very derivative. They are still really funny, but you should give credit to Mort Drucker, D**k De Bartlo, and Dave Berg to name a few.
Don Martin! Thank you! I couldn't recall his name, but yes, he was one of the guys with lots of one panels about super heroes as well. As a matter of fact, I'm looking through my archives now for the "Flash" one he did with all the bugs in flash's teeth and face. It's the one that sparked my comments and led me to to see how more than a few were similar to the ones here. Don't get me wrong, you are a great artist. Ideas need to come from somewhere I suppose but it's just better if we mention those artists who give us inspiration, especially when it's so similar. However, I consider you mentioning Don Martin as a great first step in that direction!
