Despite this phrase being uttered by the English cleric Charles Caleb Colton sometime in the 19th century, patent law has been in existence since at least 500 B.C.E. in Greece—although the rights were usually only granted for short periods of time.
Fast-forward to the 21st century, and the battle between counterfeiters and patent holders is in full swing. This list of the best (worst?) Chinese knockoffs shows how far bootleggers will go to rip a good idea off, and sometimes, the results are hilarious.

What is the meaning of this? If there is only one photo of hilarious product from china, and the rest are from the other country? The article should change the name for this.

For me is still quite a paradox, because I have been in African countries and some other poor places. People there have access to the internet they do know how find information and things, and still coping the famous brands is still there

I don't understand how that happens... Is that a translation mistake, or someone is trying to imitate the worldwide brands, but obviously failing? Can someone explain this phenomenon? Because it is quite interesting...

...But since copy-pasting the brand logo and name 100% is still too risky, they change little details here and there, still keeping some recognizable features. Big brands have been popularized a lot in the media and we subconsciously memorize logos, the colour combinations, etc. It is a marketing strategy what these copycats are doing.
