Parking Wars was an American reality TV series that aired from 2008 to 2012. The program followed officers of the Philadelphia Parking Authority as they engaged in ticketing, booting/towing, and releasing vehicles back to their owners, as part of their everyday duties.
A thing that the show made exceptionally clear is that there were plenty of entitled people on the road. And a new story on the subreddit ‘Oh no, Consequences‘ suggests that some still remain to this day.
Shared by a person who goes online as InherentInsignia, it describes the time when an out-of-town car appeared in their neighbor’s private lot as well as the petty revenge act he took on the outsider.
In densely populated urban areas, parking can get tight

The more you take from the locals, the fiercer they can get
In many places, it is perfectly legal to leave your vehicle next to someone’s house. Where no parking controls exist, drivers do not get an ‘automatic’ spot outside where they live.
However, when it comes to private parking lots, the rules can differ significantly. These spaces are typically reserved for residents or authorized guests, meaning outsiders may face restrictions or even prohibitions without explicit permission.
In Chicago, Illinois, (home of the Cubs) the regulations are governed by the Residential Parking Zone (RPZ) program, which is meant to limit the number of cars in densely populated or highly trafficked areas.
Only residents who live within designated RPZs are eligible to purchase permits allowing them to park on the street within those zones.
Outsiders are subject to strict enforcement measures, including ticketing and towing, if they park in these areas without a valid permit. So getting trapped in may not have been the worst outcome for the sports fan!
“I do love the neighborhood. But I’m also allowed to [complain] about out-of-towners making life difficult for residents,” the author of the post said in a comment.

I used to live on Cornelia Street a few blocks from Wrigley in Chicago. Luckily, we had a garage in the back of our apartment building that you entered from the alley. We had a two company on speed dial for the cars who would park in the alley and block our garage. I was on the second floor and I had a stone balcony off my bedroom that faced the street. From the street it didn't look like a balcony so you only knew it was one if you saw someone out there. The a******s leaving the games would stroll through the neighborhoods looking for their illegally parked cars and have no qualms about peeing on my front stoop. So we would pour water on them and they were too drunk to figure out where it came from. Sports fans are the worst.
This was in the early 90s. We also used to get free Cubs tickets and $5 concession coupons from the student life office at my college. They'd give us as many as we wanted. So we'd go to Wrigley, use our ticket to get in. Use three concession coupons at three different food counters, eat lunch and then go home. We weren't sports fans, but it was as close to my apt as Taco Bell and it was free. :-)

Work with your landlord and get them towed. Lots of landlords are happy to work with a towing company because they can get a kickback.
