Climate change includes both global warming caused by human-produced greenhouse gases and the resulting large-scale shifts in weather patterns. Even though there have been periods of climatic change throughout history, since the mid-20th century, humans have had an unprecedented impact on the Earth's climate, causing huge problems on a global scale. And one Facebook page perfectly illustrates how many of us feel about it.
It's called Rare and Endangered Memes for Edgy Environmentalists and it gives people exactly what its name suggests.
"This page doesn't adhere to a specific branch of environmentalism or a specific political ideology, although we have hard left leanings," the admins wrote in its 'About' section. "Our goal is simply to save the planet with the power of edgy green meme comics."

Scientists believe that global temperatures will continue to rise for decades to come, largely due to greenhouse gases produced by human activities. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which includes more than 1,300 scientists from the United States and other countries, forecasts a temperature rise of 2.5 to 10 degrees Fahrenheit over the next century.
According to the IPCC, the extent of climate change effects on individual regions will vary over time and with the ability of different societal and environmental systems to mitigate or adapt to change.
The IPCC also predicts that increases in global mean temperature of less than 1.8 to 5.4 degrees Fahrenheit (1 to 3 degrees Celsius) above 1990 levels will produce beneficial impacts in some regions and harmful ones in others. Net annual costs will increase over time as global temperatures increase.
"Taken as a whole," the IPCC states, "the range of published evidence indicates that the net damage costs of climate change are likely to be significant and to increase over time."
Of course, we have to do more than create and share memes. But it's a start.

I love my EV. Powered by solar panels! Electric vehicles not only are not gasoline dependent, they also don't require oil changes! Truly fossil free use. Yes, manufacture pollutes, but if you're buying a car anyway, buy one that will be fully green within a year.

The fossil fuel industry will be dismantled within the next 50 years and the electric industry will take its place. Everybody will rejoice because they've been lied to in being told that electric energy is clean energy. Ironically, those that champion electric (battery powered) cars completely ignore the actual environmental aspect of creation and disposal of the batteries so that they can maintain "CLEAN ENERGY". But yeah. Let's go for it. Both industries lie to their respective consumers. You want a sure fire way to clean up the environment? Reduce the human population by about 85%. This would put us back at the population level just prior to and right around the time of the industrial expansion of the mid to late 1800's.
Look at this last year and all the people who had their normal daily lives restricted and how the air cleared in so many places. As soon as the restrictions started to lift the air started becoming dirty again. Is or was the fossil fuel industry holding a gun to the heads of all the people contributing to this dirty air? They managed to live for most of the year with restricted movement. What changed when the restrictions were lifted? Hey, I get it. You don't want to be considered to be part of the problem or carry any part of the blame so it's easier and feels better to blame it all on the anonymous fossil fuel industry.
Supply and demand. We demand the fossil fuel industry. Every consumer every day huge amounts. Think about your every day products that are made from crude. It's easy to talk the talk but not a person is willing to walk the walk.
Human farts have always been there and nature can absorb their methane. However it's not the case of industry, intensive farmers and the big amount of methane that was kept in ice that today is melting. And of course CO2 and water steam from industrial and energetic uses.

Let’s see if overpopulation is a myth in another 50-100 years. Why does capitalism keep producing products? To make money - sure. To be able to sell to more and more people as the population keeps growing - definitely. We have a people problem, Mr. Institute. This BS about having enough food and resources is just not true. And if there are 15 billion people on the planet, where are they going to live? And what are they going to get to eat? There’s only so much land that can be farmed, that’s why 95% of us occupy only 10% of it.

Actually, since capitalism (unlike socialism) provides rewards for improving resource utilization efficiency, it relies LESS on expanding resource consumption than socialism. Also consider: in 1800, "40 acres and a mule" was considered what someone needed to prosper from agriculture. Today, a family can live on less than one acre, a 40-fold improvement (actually only 20-fold, since "40 acres and a mule" was hardly a scientific estimate) in the time in which the earth's population grew 6-fold. The rate of growth of the efficiency of resource utilization is increasing, while the rate of population growth is collapsing.

We must begin to separate ideology from human action. Capitalism, Socialism, Fascism, Communism are just ideas, the problem is humans using it as an excuse to commit totalitarian acts for power and money. The solution is to recognize the real problem and prevent these human actions that are destroying ourselves and the planet. A reason why nobody takes all the enviromental warnings serious is that it's ALWAYS connected with some sort of socialism (in the political sense) or even communism. As long as those aren't seperated a majority won't accept either. Envirolism mostly is just a vehicle to introduce a political system rather than solving a serious problem

I get the environmental situation and I understand we need to take action but blaming a whole system is not the way, because if capitalism doesn’t work, socialism works even less, I won’t even start in comunism (I live in Cuba, I can tell) what are we gonna do? We need to fix the system, step by step, so is more sustainable for humankind and Earth, but blaming a system we actively take part as if it’s the roots of all evil is nonsense and will take us nowhere.

China is the worlds largest user of coal fired power plants in the would, the largest consumer plastics in manufacturing in the world, They are a Communist nation so..........
Robert, China is the world's largest producer of products that the world demands. Maybe if every country only built thier companies in thier country and not outsourced to China to make/build products, then pollution would be bad all over instead if just China. Maybe if American pharma companies and mobile phone companies produced thier products in America then China would have less coal fired factories polluting thier country. More than half of the producers in China are from offshore.
