Someone Made This Simple Guide On Men’s Fashion That Illustrates The Dos, Don’ts, And ‘Oh God, Please Don’ts’
Some wardrobe classics never age. Like the leather biker and white t-shirt combo. Or the shearling jacket and grey jumper match. However, for every timeless look, there’s one that will never work. Ever.
Some time ago, the events team at The Bold Italic was putting on a men’s fashion show. They asked content creator Jessica Saia to put something together for its promotion. After giving it some thought, Saia teamed up with Isla Bell Murray and took a detour from the normal route one could go about it. They made a do’s and don’ts guide filled with funny photos that “barreled off the rails of what anyone would ever think to do when dressing.”
“[It] sounded much funnier and more interesting,” she told Bored Panda. “I had a friend sew the super-deep-V-neck and my friend Luke modeled for the men’s outfits we’ve created. It was definitely one of the most fun articles I produced.”

FOOTWEAR
“I’m certainly not a fashion trends expert; just someone who thought it’d be funny to explore ‘inverse cutoff shorts’ and wearing socks over your sandals. But I think there’s a spectrum of giving your wardrobe zero thought and way overthinking about trendy clothes,” Saia explained. “There are a lot of guys in San Francisco who seem to just wear whatever free clothes their company gives them with the logo on it, and I find these ugly outfits sort of uninspiring… but hey, people have different priorities. [For example,] my partner wears the same exact thing every single day like a cartoon character, and it works for him!”
SUNGLASSES
JORTS
WATCHES
BUTTON DOWNS
To those who haven’t found their look yet, Saia advised to just mix the familiar with the new. “Everyone has a favorite shirt or sweater; think about what you like about it and then try to find things that have those elements to it. Also, trying on a certain kind of jacket or pants that you’ve never worn before can be really surprising. No matter what the style is, having things fit makes a huge difference. And it’s worth remembering that the fashion industry is the second-largest polluter in the world, just behind the oil industry; so getting things that last or shopping at second-hand stores is a good way to go.”
Contributor, please don't quit your day job. In fact, go back to it right now before any more attempts at "humor".
What the f**k is wrong with a normal v neck t-shirt? What's wrong with long shorts?
That's not a normal V-neck. Read the caption "A deep V" and look how low it goes. It's not ridiculous like the last one, but it's still bad XD
Load More Replies...It is, there should be no dress rules for men or women, everyone should be allowed to wear what makes them happy and confident and comfortable
Load More Replies...Boredpanda needs to rethink its policy as to what it posts to avoid nonsense like this post.
It is...the sun glasses are ugly and out of style since the 90s, the shirt is out of style since 2000
Load More Replies......but what about my grandfather clock strapped to my neck with stylish anchor chain ?
Please don't tell us what men must or mustn't wear. I loved most of the pleasedon't's)
Not too funny. I expecrted something about colour matching and stuff ... which is pretty simple anyway (no direct opposites, go two steps on a colour circle between shirt and tie, shirt is lightest colour, suit darkest, shirt has finest texture, tie biggest, suit none or equally fine, ...). Or "don't wear this to work, and then, like, a bavarian Dirndl for a guy, elephant panties for a woman, ... but this is boring.
Let wear men what they want!! If you don't like it, look the other way.
Ha ha, love the satire, your gorgeous model posing so seriously, especially the inverse cutoffs. Thank you for a good laugh, and serious eye candy (the model)
no cut-offs are acceptable I wore them as a kid in the 70s, and they've never been in style for men since that decade
I thought it was funny. A bit obvious but the "please dont's" made me laugh!
"A clock strapped to your wrist with a shoelace" That's gotta be the hardest I've laughed all week.
Do: your own fashion thing, whether that's stylistically conservative (as I tend towards), totally out there, or anything in between. Don't: stanch out all the individual personality and choices some make through their clothes. My little brother in the past would wear a Star Trek the Next Generation tie from the '90s (with the enterprise on it), and odd colorful t-shirts and hats he'd found at the thrift store. I used to wear bright colors but now I'm enjoying darker ones. Do what expresses you! You might look back and cringe at some of your choices, but you've still got to be you.
The last photo made me smile.Im from Slovakia, small town called Detva and we do have folk shirts for a men short like that.
My thoughts exactly! Detva invented crop tops a long time ago :D
Load More Replies...I think the only rule men should follow is to be comfy with what their wearing) It's just about to be confident with your look, whether it's shirts, shoes, etc. E.g. quality and classy shoes can be found here https://www.alpineswiss.com/mens/shoes/sneakers-casual/
I think the only rule men should follow is being comfy with their outfit) They can be classy just wearing quality and cute shoes or shirts they love. E.g. a great selection of sandals and other shoes can be found here. https://www.alpineswiss.com/mens/shoes/sneakers-casual/
Capris on men are very popular in Europe....jean cutoff capris maybe not so much....
I want to see one man wearing all the Please Don'ts. That would look amazing!
Sorry, how are "too old your granny thought they were fashionable" sunglasses a do?
And you mean the blue ones that where never in style look better? Please do is a classic...please dont not so much
Load More Replies...This makes me angry. Stop telling me Wht to wear and what not to wear! This is so stupid. And saying this is some new idea is ridiculous. Being told what you are allowed to do with clothing is constant. So stupid
The funniest thing about this post is how many men are triggered by it. 🤣😂
Someone has a man hating problem, looks like. There's nothing at all wrong with a man wearing a V-neck T, nor with wearing the longer "capri" shorts. They're both appropriately modest, and can be worn nearly everywhere. As an elderly woman (70), I actually appreciate seeing men dress for comfort, not as a means to impress others. My minister and his 21 and 18 year old sons wear V-neck T's, and his wife happily buys them whenever they need new ones. And I'm going out on a limb here, but whatever sunglasses a guy wants to wear should be up to him, not some anonymous, holier-than-thou contributor who is clueless as to what others want. Perhaps stop "contributing," seeing that your opinion isn't worth acknowledging.
Well, I like the embroidered fitted shirt. Things that liven up the look are ok. It does seem it is written from a particular style point of view - boring straight guy.
Wow I really like what you did with the blog and I like the loads of humor you put which made it fun to read. I especially like the one on he deep V-necks. Overall great read and I elaborate more on men's fashion tips so if you want to read that then https://tinotendasigy.wixsite.com/realmensfashion
I disagree with the V neck. Besides to each their own. Bad thing about fashion is, everyone has their own style and preferences and they are going to dress how they want, how comfortable they feel and depending on their income status, what they can afford
my idiot neighbor wears his sunglasses on his forehead. could we add that? plus red shorts and no shirt to cover his man boobs.
I dont understand why people are being so rude ,i liked the article many may not agree with your point of view but to each his own! On a different note visit this site for awesome black leather jackets
The cut-off capri actually look kinda cool. Reminds me of korean fashion in the oversized aspect. Their fashion try to be playful/child like to give off innocent traits, but American are more into mature/sexy/sensual looks. So doubt it would look good here. It's just an opinion, everyone free to give opinion. The sandal one is funny.
Anyone calling a pair of sandals "classy" should be banned from the internet. Forever.
Wraparound glasses help people who suffer from my problems you f*****g Nazis.... otherwise all is correct
The sunglasses one was the only real one, which is why it was used to promote the article. No one ever does any of the other “please don’t” looks.
I freakin' loved this post. It made me laugh out loud. Since I write for an online retailer, I thought this tongue-in-cheek post was the best! Thanks!
Ugly as f**k. Those and the long shorts together....no. no. Sure. Wear them. Everybody should wear what they want but those glasses and those pants are ugly
Load More Replies...The only way this post makes sense is if it is meant as ironic commentary on the way women are prescribed what to wear. If it is, then congrats. If it is not... Well I promise you there is someone, somewhere in this world that can pull off every single one of these looks, because when you have an open mind you can admire the beauty of someone wearing an outfit they feel utterly comfortable in, regardless of what that outfit actually is.
Some folk’s comments here should be sent to a really bad sad unhappy place... and please take them with you!
Not enough effort put into this. More entertaining if there are real hell nos.
Y'all. S.a.t.i.r.e. It's supposed to be ridiculous... not judgmental or in any way factual misandrist commentary. Thanks for the laugh!
When you're young and sexy like this model, DON'T WEAR ANYTHING! Those inverse shorts highlighting his big bulge are a big YES from me!
what the hell is so bad about sock and sandals? ... many people like wearing sandals but their toes get cold when worn on cooler days. I am starting to think people need to get a clue about what looks good and what is considered to be 'in good fashion' ... sadly this article was just not up to the usual 'good Panda' standards we've all come to expect
go f**k yourself, telling people what they can or can't wear. absolute bell end.
yeah well those first pair of glasses don;t fit my face but the second pair do soooo
Stupid. Can't we find humour in more elevated ways, rather than supporting judgmental practices? Let's celebrate difference and be intelligent with our humour.
So Jessica and Isla can tell me what to wear but if I were to do the same to them I would be a sexist jerk. Whatever. I'm about to wear cargo shorts with a sweater vest and knee high socks over my sandals because screw them and this dumb a*s article
The only part of this article I laughed at was the fact that was a "Do"
Load More Replies...Sure people can dress how they like. And some people will laugh at bad taste.
Don't on any kind of cutoff or crop top. Just no, not even jorts. Not for men, and not for women. XD The embellished button up actually looks nice (it's not a button down, there's no buttons on the collar :P). And there's nothing wrong with socks and sandals, get over it :P
I could tell you where to put your fashion advices. Of course the third options are deliberately made ridiculous but many of the second options make sense, and I have to say, that with sunglasses which are supposed to protect your eyes from sunlight, the second option is way better than the first.
I like Luke, but the rest of the post is kind of personal taste (although I agree with most of them).
Comment: Stop telling people what to wear!!! Wah!!! Me: Remember humor? You too serious, overly sensitive, PC turd.
Sandals with Slacks of any kind is a major DON'T, always bugsNO-5de...871cd0.jpg
Watches are don't, don't, and don't. Why spend money on a completely obsolete piece of technology, just for fashion? Jorts is totally wrong. Anything above the knee is a fail. The sunglasses "do" is also a total fail. No self respecting male would be caught dead in those shades.
This "article" (if you can even call it that) is absolute TRASH. Let people wear what they will. Sure, you might look at someone and think what they're wearing looks c**p, but so f*****g what? It's their life. Also, you have no way of knowing wether or not a person has serious economic problems and that might be why they are wearing what they're wearing or if it's because of something else. Why should it be acceptable for strangers to JUDGE others based on their own taste? We've all heard of the white socks in sandals thing. Well i'm currently using this every time i go outside. You see, i have to wear bandages on both my legs due to some nasty wounds that won't heal. Because of the bandages, sandals are the only footwear that fits me at the moment. White bandages + sandals = the big no-no.. I've gotten SO many views from people. It's clear that they feel i'm commiting some fashion crime.. You don't know anything about a stranger. STOP MEDDLING!
I mean the post mentioned 'simple' but this was like a whole new level. If it's from someone who's just started writing, I'd say not bad! Keep working on it..
I know that they're trying to be humorous, but we're not in high school anymore. If someone is comfortable in a v-neck t-shirt then they should wear a v-neck t-shirt. Also, I ALWAYS wear socks with my sandals for the same reason I wear socks with my other shoes.
