Family Makes Sign To Explain Why Their Dog Is On The Roof, And It Becomes An Internet Sensation
Meet Huckleberry, the doggie who loves nothing more than spending time on the rooftop of his human’s house and looking at the world from up high. Passengers are so surprised by the view, Huck’s owner even wrote a ‘Don’t Be Alarmed’ note. It says that they’re perfectly aware of the strange roundabouts of their dog and that they make sure the canine is safe at all times.
“We never leave him in the backyard without someone being at home. He will not jump off unless you entice him with food or a ball!,” reads the note. The owner adds: “We appreciate your concern but please do not knock on our door… We know he’s up there! But please feel free to take pictures of him and share with the world!”
The guy even created a special hashtag to celebrate the antics of his incredible doggie – ‘#hucktheroofdog’. Whatever Huck is doing up there, watching the world go by or contemplating his life, let’s admit that it’s pretty impressive!

Huckleberry has learned how to broaden and extend his horizons, hasn't he? :D
Dogs don't have an accent. They just say Human... But in a deeper scooby like tone :)
Load More Replies...I'd knock on their door to ask for permission to just stand in their yard, just looking at Huck - in hope he will come down and play with me (because i can't climb and i want to play with Huck)
And Huck is so adorable you know he is fun to play with!
Load More Replies...Well, why not? I love the view from my roof too. and frequently stand on it...as did my Father. It's all his fault.
Our blue heeled loved going out onto the roof through our bedroom window but my neighbors called the cops and I was actually given a citation for endearing an animal. Had to go to court even. They are lucky to be getting away with it!
That's an entirely different context, from a cat's point of view. Your cat is simply contemplating the vastitude of his/her realm.
Load More Replies...When we were remodeling our house and adding a 2nd story, our dog, who is also a golden, would hang out on the roof. After the remodeling was finished, he would climb a ladder to get up there, but couldn't get himself down. Someone would have to climb up and bring him down. He was never dissuaded. Couldn't keep him out of our above ground pool, either.
You'd think if a dog ro cat would go running by their house he'd try to jump off.
I can see it all from up here so dont try anything , I am guarding and thinking about life at the same time
I LOVED this story, but was anybody else driven as crazy as me when they kept saying "roundabouts" instead of "whereabouts?"
I have two dogs that hang out and even play on my second floor roof. Pets-025-5...d04721.jpg
I would understand why he's up there! He could spy on people and guard his home!!
He is just enjoying the landscape view or the silence, thats not a problem.
It's Snoopy come to life, 'cept Huck picked a human and not dog house.
Our golden retriever Tyson used to sit on our roof and watch for the kids when they were at school! 20 years ago!
So what happens if he slips & falls or there is a strong gust of wind that makes him lose his balance up there? I dont care how much my dog enjoyed being up on my roof theres no way in hell i would allow it!!!
What a sweet looking dog. I wish I could be up high to view the world around me like Huckleberry does.
we had a dog that did that all the time his name was King he'd sit on the roof above the garage and wait for us to come home...
Clever dog. He is in a pretty safe place with a perfect view if something threatens him.
Our dog Jasper used to love being on the roof of our old house. He arched the trains and cars pass by.
I still wonder how he can climb up there and why his owners don't do anything against it. The reason why he climb up there is maybe because he is bored.

Please fix wording error #2: *whereabouts (instead of "roundabouts"). Thank you.
I would stop every morning to try and chat with Huckleberry and learn about what was going on. He's so cute I'm in love! (And I'm a cat person)
So, they did this entire story and never thought to take a photo of HOW he gets on the roof?
They say he gets onto the roof from the backyard on their "don't be alarmed" sign. : )
Load More Replies...Better to keep him off. Be responsible. i would report to animal officer.
