34 Heartbreaking Pics Of Overworked Doctors Are Going Viral, Proving That They Too Have Human Limits
As the number of people testing positive for coronavirus is skyrocketing around the globe, with more than 35K confirmed in the US alone, tragic milestones are hit daily. Death tolls in Italy have reached 5,476, while Spain has been hit with 1,813 losses. It’s now clear that curbing the pandemic will take a full-blown battle.
And medical workers are now fighting on the front line. The heartbreaking pictures below serve as living proof of what’s happening behind the emergency doors. From eternal shifts that leave their faces severely bruised to working without proper equipment and risking lives—the sacrifice is overwhelming. While you scroll through the pictures, take a moment to think about these heroes and thank them.

Face After 13 Hours ICU Work
"I don't love selfies.
Yesterday, though, I took this photo. After 13 hours in ICU.
I am not a hero. I am a normal person"
Great articles and it seems to be very controversial for a lot of people online, questioning are they mask's mark are real or fake or are those pictures are another Covid-19 propaganda....SO SAD for me but everybody has the right to think, what they like. I would love to contact with those people in person to say THANK YOU for your dedication and being part of the heroes to clearing up the world
Thank God you are there saving lives at your own risk, thank you and I'm praying for you health and safety
Your amazing you really are and we appreciate your help and your our hero
Try taking steri strips and putting them over the sore areas where the mask hits your face.....don’t pull them off at the end of your shift because it will take your skin with them....they will come off easily in the shower at home!
Thank you doesn't seem tp even begin to cover it, but thank you for your service and sacrifice sir.
Our HEROES , God bless you , all doctored, all people worked hard to make us safe in this crisis, all respect to your families in whole wide world 🙏🌎🙏
But to your patients and their families you are a hero, no matter what. Thank you so much for everything you and your coworkers are doing. It is appreciated more than you will ever know and is a debt we will never be able to repay. Am praying for your safety and health.
Maybe wearing a face shield would be a better option. At least moisturizer not lotion. Thank you for all you do for your patients.
God be with you during this critical time of need. You are seen. You are valued. Thank you for being there for all of us who are suffering.
I love my country, and all of you who serve to protect. After looking at all of the photos of the health care workers, on the front line, I am in tears. I say let's gown-up all the politicians, and send them in to observe what you people are doing on a daily basis. This is what happens when people at the top put ego above all else. I'm talking about both sides of the fence. Blessings to all of you who are working so hard during these impossible times. When I heard about General Motors in a stand- off price war with the government over the cost of making medical supplies, I couldn't believe it. Do they remember when they were bailed-out? Enough said. The people who serve this county are the real heroes, and I thank you for your service. Your courage, and dedication are beyond what should be expected out of any career choice.
Thank you and bless you for fighting in the trenches while the majority of us shelter in place.
You stand between us and the valley of the shadow of death. You ARE a hero of the finest sort.
You stand between us and the valley of the shadow of death. You ARE a hero of the finest sort. God bless and keep you.
No, you're not a normal person, you do are a hero, like all the others who are doing what you do; saving lives.
Sir! You ARE a Hero. Your cape is just AWOL. Love to you and your compatriots, and all the families!!
Thank you for the incredible work you are doing. I'll continue to pray for your health and well-being during this nightmare. Normal people make the greatest heroes. <3
No you are a hero and I am so grateful to you. And I hope I never see you💕💕💕
Hugs (not real ones) and snuggles for you and all those there with you!!! Thank you!!!
Oh but you are a hero. To MANY ppl fighting this horrible virus your their biggest hero. Keep up the amazing work. Thank you for your sleepless days/nights of hard, tiring work. Thank you for saving many lives and putting our lives before your own. We love you all. Stay safe, strong, and healthy. This soon shall pass. ❤️
You are amazing. Thank you for every thing you are doing to help these people.
People within the NHS do not get the gratitude they deserve...people don't see what goes on behind closed doors, and see the trauma these people day in day out. What you all do is amazing, and you should be all proud of yourself. No matter how hard things get, you all face it head on, and that's what makes you all so passionate about your job, which by all means is never easy. You can never prepare for what's going too happen that day ahead, but no matter what, you face it regardless.
As I've always said Thank you to the service thank you for the doctors and nurses fire department the police department everyone that gives early life for our country to protect our country right now more than anything all the doctors and nurses and the helpers that are giving their time and not getting paid for anything but trying to help stop this horrible disease from spreading and spreading I give you my heart and soul and every single prayer that I can think of God is going to come and take care of all this and you can go home and rest God bless you all thank you so much for your hard work

I just want to take a moment to say thank you so much, for your courage, love of all humanity, long suffering and relentless work ethics and the will and want to see humanity live and survive. Thank you from Huntsville , AL.
I would disagree. If you are going above and beyond, you are a hero. There are many heroes today, and you are one of them.
Normal people are the people who do all the work. That’s heroic.
Thank you I know that's not enough but all I can say for your commitment and work.
Parabéns a classe médica, enfermeiros(as) e demais funcionários(as) de todos os Hospitais do mundo por sua dedicação aos pacientes do COVID19!
No, you ARE a hero mate! You are our front line defence right now. You all should be proud of yourselves, you are all doing your countries, and the world, proud. Thank you all so much for your dedication and hard work during this crisis.
You are a hero to those you serve. You put others before yourself. In a crisis you tend to see who people are. Your not a normal person you are a extraordinary person. Thank you and stay safe.
You are a normal person and in my eyes a hero!!! My heart is full of love for all of you that put your lives at risk to save all the sick people! God bless you!!!
OMG .. You sir are a hero to many who will live because of your hard work and dedication to everyone! I can only think that you too are someones son who I am sure must be so worried about you. Please stay safe!
Yes sir you are a hero, doing and handling alllllll the BS nobody else can/will right now...but you are first ALSO a human with feelings and a heart...GOD-BLESS you, and your work, and if you aren't religious, us also on the human-side of life still respect and are grateful for you. THANK YOU. <3
A Full snorkel mask plus hepa material would protect membranes ! The virus that causes COVID-19 is approximately 0.125 micron (125 nanometers) in diameter. It falls squarely within the particle-size range that HEPA filters capture with extraordinary efficiency: 0.01 micron (10 nanometers) and above. Many media outlets have incorrectly stated that HEPA filters don’t filter below 0.3 micron and therefore can’t capture the new coronavirus. That claim is flat wrong. (This NASA study of HEPA filtration is quite technical, but the graph on page 7 and the preceding paragraph do a good job of explaining why HEPA filters are actually most efficient—almost 100 percent at 0.01 micron—at capturing ultrafine particles below the 0.3-micron HEPA test standard.) $25 dollar full face snorkel mask modified To have hepa filter at air intake might work ? Hepa filter can be removed and replaced plus mask can be disinfected fully and reused ?? Just an idea
You may think you are just a normal guy, but to those you help, you are a hero and savior!!
Oh man, You are a hero! You need a break! All hero's will need a break eventually! You are legendary!!!!!
You've chosen this field, you always wanted to help people the best you could. So here is your chance to flourish and show your real qualities. Please just stop complaining and do your job Period God keeps all of us safe.
I am sure you don't want the fame, you just wanted to show us your face after a long tough shift. IT'S YOUR DAMN JOB! you've chosen that field, you wanted to help people and take care of them, stop complaining and do your part the best you could. I just wish everyone in the health care system to be safe.
The more comments or downvotes he gets fuels his fire. Just ignore this sad, little goblin.

I’ve Been A Critical Care Nurse For 13 Years, And I’ve Never Seen Anything Like What Is Happening Now In Our Healthcare System. It Is Beyond Overwhelming
"Not only are all of us fighting to survive the contagion itself, we are fighting for protection from an industry that failed to adequately prepare us for this pandemic. Everyone is scrambling. Our skills and expertise are being put to the test in every way imaginable right now. And it’s only just getting started."
These images stand as powerful reminders of the health crisis we are in right now. Dr. Anna Yaffee, a director of Global Health at Emory University, believes that sharing them is particularly important. “Sharing the images reinforces the point that there are people out there who are working tirelessly around the clock to provide lifesaving supportive care to those who are sick,” she commented.
But what makes frontline workers’ job particularly difficult is the shortage of protective supplies and hospital equipment. New York Mayor Bill de Blasio stated on Sunday that the city is “about 10 days away from seeing widespread shortages. If we don't get more ventilators, people will die."

This Is An Anesthesiologist, Dr. John Henao, Who Is Running Out Of Ppe (Personal Protective Equipment) At His Hospital
"He, like most of us, are currently working under the assumption that most people are Covid19 positive and asymptomatic, but in order to save our dwindling supplies of PPE, are only using them for known cases of Covid19. In order to safely intubate all patients he had to jerry rig his own gear. He put on a CO2 sampling nasal cannula. He then put on a regular old plastic bag on over his head with a seal (you can see he taped it tightly around his neck). He ran the oxygen at 10 L/min. He sampled his CO2 to monitor. He did this for 10 min (long enough to intubate a patient). THIS is what we have to do because we have no PPE. I am horrified. I cannot even begin to know if this is safe and cannot recommend it. But, sure, we’ll be safe with bandanas, scarves, and homemade cloth masks. (That, folks, is sarcasm). For my friends who are fellow physicians, please be safe, and for those of you who are not, please call or tweet or write your elected officials to demand that we are given adequate equipment in order to treat you safely"

My Battle Scars
"Life as a front line during this period ain’t easy, to be honest it sucks. You kiss your love ones good bye before heading to “war zone”. U wear every level of protection needed to ensure u do not be contacted with any of this virus and to not bring the virus back to the loved ones at home. You wear face shield/ goggles / N95 some even wear PAPR at work, trust me it ain’t easy to breath wearing any of those (N95 & PAPR) and with all that protection on, u work quick and fast, catching your breath with every step u make because LIVE MATTERS.
After finishing your shift sweaty with tiredness, aching back, sore calf, painful ankles. you found out that not only your Annual Leaves are frozen, you are not even allowed to leave the country as a front line staff and worst of all is when you have to cancel your wedding reception because both you and your significant other are front liners and you both are needed to fight the “war” because LIVE MATTERS.
Now after work I shower and wear back your uniform with pride, u take public transportation just to go home and rest because tomorrow is another for “war” but when u board the train or bus. People say u bring germs/ virus with u, that u are infecting other people and that u are INCONSIDERATE but u just be quite and leave the train or bus because u are tired after work to explain ur situation.
Now u tell us how are we suppose to feel or react?
Are we not human like everyone else?
Don’t we have love ones too?
Don’t we wish to go on a holiday too?
All got to say is,
I am a front line staff and this is my story."

As Most Of The World Is Isolating, Shutting Down, And Running As Far A Away From The Virus This Guy, Will Be Running Into It. This Guy Is My Guy And He Is An Emergency Room Doctor
"Today, my husband will be trained on how to don & doff - put on and take off a full protective suit. He will learn how to use and remove his gloves, masks, & eye shield protection. His mask will be tested. His gear will be poked and prodded with him in it. His nerves will be tested too but, he won’t fuss. People are sick and this his job. My husband is also part of a medical covid_19 team that will be doing everything & giving their everything to ensure as many people as possible come out on the other side of this crisis. He, along with the every other extraordinary nurse & frontline worker knows one thing is for sure - life how we have known it won’t look the same over the next several weeks. He will have to make devestating and heartbreaking decisions. He will be super exposed to the sickest patients. Some nights he will come home and need to talk. Other nights he won’t want to speak at all and that’s ok because I will be there. I’m so grateful I can be.. My husband does not like accolades or much attention, hence the very few pics of him on IG. Though now more than ever he and every other frontline worker needs to be told they are our heroes. Please do the same. In France while in lockdown, social media users have launched an initiative to show gratitude & support we applaud To every doctor & to all the other frontline heroes thank you. Thank you so much for your dedication & determination to fight this virus and to help those who need you now and need you the most"
I'm sure you was a hero before for the many life's you saved but now you are a super hero. May the universe bless you with a healthy and happy long life. Thank you 🌹

Please all stay at home and do what is required. Chances are you will be ok but you might pass it onto someone else. We don’t need more patients!!!"

Nurse After Hours Of Work In Intensive Care
Here’s A Massive Thank You To The Icu Nurses, Intensivists, And Rts Who Are Wearing This Ppe For An Upwards Of 30-40 Minutes, If Not Longer
"If you were to wear an N95 mask properly for about 5-8 minutes in a patient’s room to let’s say take your patient to the bathroom safely, administer medications, or do an assessment, you’d probably have marks similar to these on your face
Not only are you left with these temporary marks, but you quickly experience difficulty breathing after the first few minutes of applying the mask. You also start to heat up from the layers of gown, gloves, and eye shield
...so here’s a massive thank you to the ICU nurses, intensivists, and RTs who are wearing this PPE for an upwards of 30-40 minutes, if not longer, during invasive (aerosol-generating) bedside procedures. Whether they’re dealing with an extubation or are all hands on deck during a code, they deserve a huge shout out for the physical exhaustion they endure when providing the safest & best care possible to their patients

We all need to do our part to lessen the load for these overworked, underappreciated, underfunded(equipment and materials) health care professionals and heed their and other official advice.
Ditto. STAY HOME so one day these people can go home too.
why was this downvoted though?
Thank you to all doctors and nurses and every worker who are exposing themselves to provide essential services during this time. Thank you.
The last guy hit the nail on the head. While our politicians are turning to companies that are already fitted to make medical equipment and medical supplies, we need to also be going to the companies that can easily convert to making medical materials. Perfume and beauty product companies that can make sanitizer and soap. Clothing manufacturers that can make masks and protective equipment. Companies that make construction gear can make face masks normally used for painting and varnishing. It wouldn't take much to make them medical grade Anything to prevent the spread. Get companies to convert. Instead of handing money to the CEO's, use the money to temporarily convert companies to make products needed to fight this thing!!
