A sense of entitlement is a personality characteristic that's not exclusive to spoiled kids. The belief that you deserve special treatment or recognition for something you haven't earned can be quite universal.

And the subreddit which we will call 'Entitled Batch' can prove it — this online community is dedicated to shaming people who think they can always get their own way and are better than everyone else.

The moderators, however, point out in its 'About' section that the sub "in no way intends to spread hate or abuse or to offend any party, it was created for story sharing and entertainment."

Since its inception in December 2018, it has amassed quite the collection. Here are some of the most popular posts that have appeared on the sub since our last publication on it.

I'll Be Here For The Rest Of The Day

vincethewillnill Report

If a person isn't behaving as badly as these folks and you aren't sure whether they might have a sense of entitlement, experts suggest going through the following characteristics and seeing if they apply:

  • People with a sense of entitlement expect to get preferential treatment and special favors in life, without regard for why they should be treated specially. They assume "the world owes me." For instance, they might feel that the policies of an organization should not apply to them because they should be treated with special favors.
  • Regardless of what they have, they strongly believe that they deserve more. They expect to elevate their lifestyle above that of others without putting in the effort needed to do so.

  • When they reach a certain level of success, they feel that everyone should bend over backward to help them. If someone has a problem with them or does not agree with what they are doing, they will try to make the other party feel as if they are wrong and that it is a horrible thing to disagree with them.
  • Their personal needs come before everyone else's needs. They believe that it is your job to ensure they have everything they need, even if this means that you have to sacrifice taking care of yourself.

  • They're very dramatic when something does not go their way. In these cases, they might try to make themselves look better by bringing you down.
  • They are not grateful for what they have in their life. A person with a sense of entitlement may not say thank you or show other signs of appreciation for what they have. This is because they believe it is their right to have everything, so they don't value anything.

masteromatic Report

  • A sense of entitlement tends to be spread across their entire life. Someone who acts this way about one thing is likely to act the same way in other situations as well. They may be greedy or will take friends for granted instead of being appreciative.
  • They act like victims and blame other people or outside forces for their problems. Again, someone with this attitude believes the world owes them and that other people are responsible for making their lives better.

But if you read through the list and remain unsure, look them up on the subreddit 'Entitled Batch'. If they're not here, maybe they aren't that bad, eh?

I know many people who tried to be "influencers". As soon as they found out just how much work goes into it, how much time and effort, how much the constant demand for perfect content wear them down, they gave up. They all went back to their 9-5 jobs and are content with that.

I dare say they tried to do it properly. Compare and contrast the "influencers" who want a free meal in exchange for "exposure" to their 30k followers (pointless for a local business by the way, since your followers could be 6000 miles away on another continent). Seems like as more business owners have cottoned on to entitled influencers, they've made the industry harder. And those that actually work for it will be successful.

I'm not even sure who I'm supposed to be annoyed with for this one. Successful influencers do work hard. We might not like (or even abhor) what they represent and wish they'd stop, but they don't get to where they are by doing absolutely nothing.

To me, they're just like any other entertainer. If there are enough people who are interested in watching them do their thing, they make money. I really don't care how much they work or don't work, though like many entertainers they likely do work harder than many people give them credit for. It's just not something I find interesting, but it's not like it's all that hard to NOT follow someone on social media. If someone's annoyed by them, there's a simple solution for that. Clearly some people find them interesting and entertaining, or there wouldn't be a market for their content.

I think people get overly angry about influencers. I don't get being angry at someone for being able to make a living traveling, eating, and wearing makeup/clothing. I think a lot of people don't like their personalities, but their personalities are constructed around what will get them views so they are constructed for people's entertainment. I guess the question is, why does society favor that type of personality for their entertainment, like reality TV people all being horrible, part of what made them so popular.

There's two parts to the hate as far as I can make out. The first is the shallow entitlement of the ones who get called out online for trying to blag free stuff simply because they've got followers. As if that somehow makes them important. They (quite deservedly in my opinion) deserve the ridicule they get. The second part is probably rooted in basic jealousy of the unrealistic. These are the influencers who make it look easy to get free stuff and sponsorship by doing very little. They demonstrate the easy life, the perfect life, the *unattainable* life. They don't show the reality that has gone into those images, so contribute to the discontent felt by more easily influenced younger fans, who set them as the gold standard they can never meet.

Do you blame the parasitic and entitled influencer or the people who follow them and made them what they are? Stop following them and they go away, it really is that simple.

I feel like if you don't know what someone else's job entails then you have no call to make any judgments on it. You may THINK you know, but unless you've done it, you have no real idea. That goes for any job. Working in a fast food restaurant, being a doctor, being a movie star, being a waitress, a plumber.....we should all respect one another in our positions. If you haven't done it, then you don't know anything about it and you can't say anything about it. Bottom line.

Ive been paid to post pics in clothes before, yeah I had to do hair and makeup, take and edit the pics but like, that's not that much effort??? And it's FUN! This person is so entitled

its not only influencers. ppl who have gone viral bc of their dogs like keyush the stunt dog or tucker budzyn. both keyush and tuckers owners spend hours editing the videos. keyush is unpredictable too so his owner takes even longer to edit. ya they make money off their dogs but so do the owners of famous dogs. but still the filming, creating merch, editing its alot of hard work. i can easily create a channel with my dog and do the same but its the editing for hours and hours that made me say nope

This isn't entitlement. This is bitterness that some waste vast amounts of money on stupid things while others go homeless and hungry. This is just being angry at the unfairness of life.
