Pregnant Cow Escapes From A Truck That Was Taking Her To The Slaughterhouse And Gives Birth To A Wonderful Calf
About a week ago, a truck was taking a cow to a Paterson slaughterhouse in New Jersey, United States. However, she was not an ordinary cow and her story broke the internet.
Around 2:45 a.m. on Thursday night, the now-famous cow called Brianna fell 8 feet out of the second level of a truck that was taking her to a dead-end. She wandered around the highway until authorities captured her after an hour-long chase. She was named in honor of a police officer Brian who alerted the sanctuary to the animal’s escape.
However, the story doesn’t end here.
Little did they know, she was nine months pregnant. Some may think that she did that in order to save her baby. As soon as she arrived at Skylands of Wantage sanctuary, she gave birth to her baby who was named “Winter”.
They both are safe and sound and now live in the sanctuary.
Earlier this week, the calf Winter took its first steps. This moment, just like her birth and arrival, were filmed and shared on Skylands social networks, where you can see the new mother and daughter.

The calf is already walking and today lives happily with his mother in the sanctuary

Share on FacebookI may not be vegan/vegetarian, but I definitely think that the way they treat animals in farms should still be safe and humane for them, even if they're going to end up killing them at some point - this includes giving the animals room to move, feeding them appropriately, and not killing pregnant animals. Plus, the meat, pelt, etc. will be a lot higher quality.
I think it's ethical using animals for food. But we have to give them a good and happy life and a fast and painfree death. That's the only logical thing to do... they sacrifice their lifes for us, we need to treat them with respect.

Load More Replies...Nobody talks about how she fell from 8ft high. Poor thing is fortunate she didn't break a leg or killed her calf. Lots of luck for this creature.
Cows are actually really sweet and smart. It’s terrible what is done to them.
Riz, I agree - have you read The Secret Life of Cows by Rosamund Young? They’re really complex, family oriented animals, totally amazing.
Load More Replies...And they say animals don’t know... This is one of the reasons you could you know, stop eating them but what do I know...
Why does this get downvotes? I agree, we can read, look, talk - we DO have a choice. Animals don't. The easiest choice is eating at least less and better meat. No one in the first world can claim not to have that choice.
Load More Replies...Also... do they regularly send pregnant cows to the slaughterhouse without knowing/caring? Because if one of the few times one escapes to somewhere safe it gives birth, what are the chances of it being the only one?? Bet this happens all the time. Imagine the heartless people who cut open the dead mother and discard the unborn calf all the time. Heartbreaking. Can this be against the law, how about, NOW??
Yes they do. They slaughter inefficient milk cows no matter if they are pregnant or not. In fact they have to be pregnant all the time otherwise they wouldn't give milk. It's as cruel as hell. That's why I'm on a dairy free diet.
Load More Replies...Or simply be more conscious of where the meat you eat comes from and how the animal was treated. If you think 2% of a population going vegan is going to make a difference, then you're in for a surprise
Load More Replies...Try it out for a month! It is very easy and you can be very healthy while feeling like you are helping (or at least not harming) the world and many animals. You have my support!
Load More Replies...But what about all the other cows in the truck? And all the other cows in all the other trucks?
If everyone thought that and acted on their thoughts, we could make it so every one of them is so lucky. Go vegan and stop funding the industry that does this to these poor cows.

It wouldnt surprise me that the cow knew where it was going and jumped ship.
I actually did a lot of studying in this area of modern agriculture. The ways that they hold the animals is unhealthy and unclean. The feedlots are super crowded, and the cows are constantly up to knees height in manure. Modern agriculture is more like a factory production than one of farming. The way they produce meat today is pretty inhumane. Im a vegetarian, but Im completley fine with people eating meat, I just wish that agribusinesses didnt take over the old methods of farming. (If anyone wants to know more about the way food is manufactured today, I reccomend the documentary “Food Inc.”
Pregnant animals are often slaughtered and their unborn babies are sold to the pharmaceutical industry to be used in stem cell research, vaccines etc.
I downvoted that because it is sad ): idk what else to do upvoting it feels wrong
Load More Replies...This is why I'm working really hard on becoming a vegan. I've cut back meat to only once a month. It's been a few years and I think I'm slowly getting there. Lol
I went vegetarian a year ago... it was actually easy. You get the hang of it after a month. There are plenty of other options.
Load More Replies...I think that before they take them to a slaughterhouse, they should give them some kind of test to make sure that they are healthy, with no diseases and no medical conditions such as pregnancy.
This is amazing. I love how the momma cow knows that somebody just might come and save her. I hope they have a good life 😊
Like another commenter, i am not a vegan or vegetarian but i could not come to watching or doing the act of killing the animal. God created animals for us to eat. I certainly think that they need to be treated better all around though.
Idk why you're being downvoted ): someone else said the exact same thing
Load More Replies...1. PETA kills almost all the animals they take in. 2. Cows don't cry 3. Tears are just salt water
Load More Replies...Well, it does say "being kind to one more little animal", not necessarily that it's the calf. They probably wanted to snow a picture of the owner of the sanctuary but couldn't find or get a good one with him with the calf
Load More Replies...You dont want to give it up, there’s a difference
