22 Funny, Straightforward Signs About The Coronavirus Situation Put Up By Shops And Restaurants
Some businesses might have reopened but the coronavirus pandemic continues to spread throughout the world. Naturally, some shop owners want to protect themselves, their employees, and their customers, so they put up signs asking clients to come in through the door wearing face masks. Easy, right? Nope!
Unfortunately, some customers see wearing a mask as a political issue and refuse to put one on. This increases the risk of Covid-19 spreading, so stores have had to get… creative with their signs. Bored Panda has collected some of the wittiest, funniest, and most blunt ‘wear a mask’ signs that shops and restaurants have put up. Bored Panda spoke to Sarah Bingham, one of the co-owners of the vintage clothing shop Antique Sugar, whose hard-hitting and dark sign made a huge splash on the web. She told us all about how she feels about getting so much attention, about the anti-maskers who are sending her hate mail, and whether or not she thinks she’s changed anyone’s mind about putting on a mask.

Sarah, who has co-owned Antique Sugar with her friend Annamarie Sanchez for the past 10 years, told Bored Panda that she never imagined that the sign she came up with would blow up the way that it did.
She said she expected only the people who come into the shop to see it. However, she posted a photo of the sign on her personal Facebook page where she asked people if they thought it was too dark. “It was immediately shared several times, and from there someone posted it on Reddit and it took off.”
They put this up after the umpteenth stupid f**k who wanted to sue the neighboring café. Seriously, things must be dire if a law firm resorts to this.
Brilliant! Anti-maskers (AKA right-wingers) can exercise their constitutional right not to wear a mask SOMEWHERE ELSE!
And some people actually do need it explained. Time to weed out the gene pool.

Apparently, that law firm isn't very familiar with the Americans with Disabilities Act... so I wouldn't want to go to them for any legal advice... they don't seem to know their a*s from their elbow when it comes to the law... and I just can't wait to see how quickly some of these companies back peddle when they get sued under ADA for discriminating against people who CAN'T wear a mask due to a disability but who may otherwise be able bodied... Remember when a bunch of businesses got sued because they claimed their first amendment right to freedom of religion prohibited them from providing certain services to gay couples? Remember how they lost? What do you think is going to happen when a bunch of disabled people who were refused service because they refused to wear a mask because wearing one would cause them significant discomfort or impair their health decide to sue for discrimination?
That’s a very interesting point you make there, and one that certainly needs to be addressed. There are absolutely people out there who have legitimate reasons for not wearing a mask, but it must be said that the vast majority are fools who presume to know better than medical professionals and are more concerned with their own comfort/appearance than their own safety, and that of others. The difference between the First Amendment cases and this case is that the First Amendment cases were intentionally discriminating against LGBT+ people. The mask policy is in no way discriminatory to any group of people; rather it’s an attempt to keep others safe. In the First Amendment cases, the people were refused service solely because they were part of the LGBT+ community. In this case, these people that are legitimately unable to wear masks that may have been refused service were not refused service because they were disabled, but because they weren’t complying with a general rule.

Sarah confirmed that they’ve been getting lots of hate mail. “From what I’ve seen in some of the hate mail we’ve been receiving, the most vehement anti-maskers seem to be far-right politically. They seem to have the ‘don’t tread on me’ mindset. They really don’t want to be told what to do by me, or scientists, or the government, or the media. Which is fine, but in the same sentence, they threaten to report us for violating the ADA.”
She revealed that in her opinion, she doubts that she changed the mind of anyone who had a solid opinion about mask-wearing before she posted the sign. “But I also haven’t had any non-mask-wearing people in the shop since it went up. So I’m declaring my personal battle a victory.”
There have been over 11.4 million cases of people infected with the coronavirus worldwide; more than half a million people have died from the illness. The United States has more than 2.89 million cases, the most in the entire world. Brazil is in second place with over 1.6 million infected while India has nearly 698k cases.
In the shop where I work I have to ASK the people to keep there masks on when speaking to a sales person. They honestly think they need the mask only to enter the shop. They don't have to keep it on when in the shop. YEs that is the level of stupidity we have to deal with. Or if they do not have a mask on, they stand at the door and shout what they need. WTF people??? If I ask them to please put a mask on and then enter the store, I am the one with an attitude. HAHAHAHAHA

I really don't understand why people have to make a big stink about wearing mask. It's such a simple thing to do. I can LITERALLY save lives. But...as we've all seen throughout the years, people love to do the exact opposite of what they're supposed to do.
I feel blessed that don't have to wear a mask here in Holland. But the six feet / 1,5M distance is hard to keep for many people. I fear that we will get a 2nd wave:-(
Wearing a mask is a key component of keeping the cases low. You wear a mask, you stop the airborne particles that could be full of virus from landing on the people you are talking to. They wear a mask, it protects you. If everybody wears a mask, there is a 70% (or greater) chance that the virus will not transfer with enough viral load to make someone sick.

These are funny, but unfortunately the "freedom fighters" who refuse to comply are making it very difficult for those who legitimately can't wear masks for medical or sensory reasons. 6ft? 60 ft thank you! I went to Goodwill yesterday and I was like wow, everyone is wearing their masks right! :0 Is it a covid miracle?! Then, I saw a couple. The lady, not covering her nose, and the man, only covering his chin. What, do you breathe out of your chin you alien?! God, I can't understand how people are so dumb and think so highly of themselves, that they don't understand that you get it through breathing through your NOSE or getting it in your eyes! Ugh, even mouthbreathers need to cover that nose!

With the increase in cases, the proof from other countries that masks, social distancing and hygiene work it is amazing that we still have to convince folks of the science and sense behind the rationale. I run 97.4 all the time. When I have a fever I hit about 98.6-98.9 or 99. It's miserable when u know you are sick an people don't believe because the norm is 98.6. Sigh.

This Coronavirus is getting worse...We still have to wear our masks, no matter what or you can catch it....I always wear mine and gloves to shop..I don't want to catch the human germs...
I personally try to respect the stores where they ask you to wear a mask but I have asthma and respiratory issues so wearing a mask is hard to breath in and so there are sometimes genuine reasons to not wear a mask and as I am the main person in my household to do grocery shopping and such it makes it hard. So to be absolutely hating on everyone not wearing a mask in public you don't know their story or what they are going through. For example just the other day when I was wearing a mask I could hardly breath and was having anxiety attacks. So yeah there are those who are dumb, selfish, ignorant and who just are narcissistic bastards, but there are also those who have health complications and that are the main shoppers of their family. So just think before you fully judge.
Rachel Carter: I understand, I know someone with serious health issues that is the same way. But there are solutions to that besides going without a mask. Ordering online and then picking it up at the store. Maybe finding a store with "senior hours" that limits the crowds and makes it less risky; I bet if you talked to the managers and explained your issue, they could work out a way for you to be there without having the store employees hassle you. Have the groceries delivered. There are options, unless you live in the back of beyond where you are a good distance from markets and such. This isn't just about other people's health it's about yours. If you get that virus because you can't wear a mask, who does the grocery shopping is going to be the least of your family's concerns. Those of us who are over 60 have had to readjust how we live because of this pandemic. Maybe your family can too. Good luck!

I have to wear a mask at work (it's a hospital, I get that) but thankfully not everywhere else because we've kinda got all the other bits vaguely sorted. The queues, one way systems, reduced numbers, distancing, alcohol gel, Perspex screens. It sucks, I hate it. But I would rather that than have to wear a mask because the virus is out of control.

I agree in general (although masks are pretty useless really), but what about people with things like asthma? If they can't enter a shop without a mask, even though they can't wear one due to breathing issues, how are they meant to buy food?
My dad is a pulmonologist (lung doctor). He says it's not a reason not to wear a mask.

Here's the thing, I worry that the media has made this coronavirus seem more serious than it actually is. Now, I'm not doubting for a second that covid-19 isn't serious, but I worry that we're becoming too scared of it. We don't do this during the yearly flu outbreak, simply because it's so familiar. The coronavirus is new and the unfamiliarity scares people.
