I Draw Pandemic-Related Comics To Laugh At Things That Would Otherwise Be Too Depressing To Deal With (45 Pics)
Who says you can’t have a little fun during dark times? Certainly not me. That's why, to blow off some steam during the pandemic, I've been making cartoons about my experience.
It started as a creative way to entertain myself. I've always loved cartoons but never actually made my own. While they include everything from current events, to politics, to everyday life, I usually try to make them about the pandemic in some way.
My humor is somewhat cynical and sarcastic. I wouldn't say I'm a pessimist, but I do find that looking for the humor in the darkness keeps me laughing at things that would otherwise be too depressing to deal with. Hope they give you a laugh, too!

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been interested in art and comics. Even so, I really haven’t made a lot of comics. My background is in drawing and painting, but for the past twenty years, I’ve worked as a marketing creative, coming up with ideas, designs, and communications for all kinds of companies. It’s a demanding career, so I haven’t made as much art on the side. But things changed during the pandemic. I don’t usually share my artwork, but 2020 was such a strange, confusing time. It motivated me to make art that expressed my feelings and connected with others. So I started an Instagram page and posted cartoons. Kind of a COVID diary, I guess.
People who say COVID is a hoax is without a doubt a flat Earther

The people dying of covid have been vaccinated … several times! Go figure!
The herd must be thinned from those who are weak from strength of common sense.
In general, I love coming up with ideas. It’s my favorite part of the creative process. I think that’s because I’m a problem-solver by nature. And to me, idea generation is like solving a problem. With the COVID cartoons, I sat down each morning with a notebook and thought about what was going on in the world and how I felt about it. I wrote down a lot of ideas that didn’t go anywhere. But once in a while, I’d find a gem. I bounced ideas off my wife to get a second opinion. She can be tough, and I knew if she liked it, it was probably worth pursuing. Once I circled a few ideas in my notebook, I’d move to my drawing table and sketch them up.
Wait. It went down..we are still in COVID here ppl. Well at least where I live
I tried to make the cartoons my own, but I'm certainly not without influences. I like funny, dark, sarcastic humor. I took a lot of inspiration from New Yorker cartoons, especially amazing artists like David Sipress, Ed Steed, Joe Dator, and Lars Kenseth. My drawing style is pretty simple, clear, and bold. I like working with brush pens and then adding color in Photoshop. Style-wise, my influences include illustrators like Mike Lowery, Chris Judge, and Gemma Correll.

Hahahhaha. Does this face mask make me look fat ? I gained the #covid19
Load More Replies...People seemed to really enjoy and connect with my Instagram posts. While I was creating and posting the cartoons during lockdown, it helped alleviate some of the feelings of isolation. The process was therapeutic. And it gave me a focus and sense of purpose during a very uncertain time. Plus, they were really fun to do!
Well in Australia there is a second wave in Victoria and the rest of Australia just went nope and shut the borders
Where's the "My clippers suddenly stopped working" or "the drunk cut"?
As of yesterday, my current cut is a combination of The WTF and Just a Little Off the Top (I was cleaning up my side-shave, and the clippers took a big gouge from the top/front). Seriously considering shaving it all off & letting it grow back evenly. EDIT TO ADD - Guess who shaved her head yesterday?
My sister gave me the WTF, I'd rather just risk covid than trust her again.
Chunky orange monkey will make you more dumb, proven by original founder Donald J. Trump.
You have a great imagination! (And are pretty good at drawing too!). ;oP. These captions are spot-on.
I kinda almost expected "Special Military Operation Cherry". White, with dark red cherry streaks. Maybe fudge to represent the shithead Pootin.
Especially the bathroom one. It's where I spend most of my time nowadays, anyway.
Load More Replies...I think I'd rather avoid that last one. (And the implications therein.) 🤢💩
I know. I should've drawn it better!

The iMask does not come with iStrings. You can purchase iStrings online for a surprisingly low price of $99.99.
The fact that people will flock to mass events during a pandemic amazes me. Why? Just sit your a*s still somewhere until things are under control. What is the rush to be the recipient of COVID antibodies?
I think the "He'san A-hole" slice should be at least 90% of the pie but otherwise, EXCELLENT!
They also keep him from kissing random women... "I just start kissing them. It's like a magnet. Just kiss. I don't even wait."
I live in a rural part of Virginia... it's like I'm living in a town that's 99% Trump cult members. If any other countries will take me, can someone come save me?! haha jk... but seriously...
All the other unlabeled ones should be labeled eating or checking the cabinets every 4 seconds
That one is a reference to silence of the lamb movie:)

My mom goes to the gym only like every other week and she wears a mask and disenfects everything when she's done.
Load More Replies...You won't get much out of McConnell's testicles, they're too small. Better toss in Lindsey Graham's, too.
We watched that movie on Friday. It was hilarious
Load More Replies...Same. Every f*****g weekend I walk around at each right times to have a bell ring in my face at the right time
To me, every day is the same. It can't possibly be late summer, my brain still thinks it's April.
Looking for toilet paper, paper towels, cleaning supplies and bleach have become like searching for unicorns. Actually you may have better luck finding unicorns. When you do find the items you are limited to one and you usually have to go to multiple stores in order to find just 2 of the items. I haven't seen a cleaning wipe since March.
Load More Replies...Don't you mean the second wave? We haven't crested the first one yet.

I believe Very Stable Genius comes in a slightly darker hue called Marmalade Mussolini.
Very Stable Genius? Actually, it's the opposite. More like 'Dummy Hair'.
I still can't get used to people loudly arguing with themselves....(blue tooth)
YESSSSSS.I wonder if the neighbor two houses down would mind if I used his trump 2020 sign to wipe my a*s with. ( I would remove it from his front yard first )
probably better to poop and wipe in his yard, saves time/
Load More Replies...Is it bad that I would use this to slap people who stand too close - just it wasn't part of the recommended usage...so I'm not sure.
If I skip the snooze bar lunges , I can squeeze in some extra Crunches and Jack Squats.
Ebola got tired and decided to hop in the game, sadly corona was winning.
These were really good! I didn't agree with all of them but I admit you have talent (and wit, haha).
I love these! Very creative and funny and right to the point on the experiences we're all sharing!
These are awesome and several absurdly true. Thanks for the laugh, Mark!
I love these, very witty and clever. I think I've found my favorite Covid comics.
Thanks a lot, Jessica! Glad you liked them.
