(By the way, my version of 'being drained' was dramatized in the video by my office-working self. The office *did* drain me- I hated every minute I was there. The choice to leave after 6 months temping came when they offerred me a permanent position. It suddenly became so clear to me the questions: 'in whose service am I selling my life energy?' along with the question 'and for what?' By this point Burning man had come and gone. The 'quitting' was really coming to a split in the road- an opportunity to make a clear choice- which was to appreciate my life journey as it was/is happening over fearing about how I could make that happen. I had saved some money, and in my down time I began creating decor for events. The beach art came a number of years later. et voila!

ouch! That' amazing for Bored Panda if thats true. Here's where I've come to, for me where I am, the exposure is always more valuable than whatever amount I might get from licensing. The businesses who license my images are getting good karma and can know that they are directly showing their support for creators. That said, the indirect support is unquantifiable.

And... thank you for sharing the circumstances of leaving your job. Every situation is unique, and I felt that the video oversimplified your story, and unfairly painted "working for a living" (in general) in a negative light. The fact that you traded the office job for working as an event decor designer was completely overlooked. I see that you are responding to most of the comments here... Bravo... I hope to see some of your work in person one day.

I'm very sorry they did that to you, Andres, but I'm not surprised. These days I'm reluctant to give interviews, to newspapers especially, because in the past they got it wrong and changed my words. For example, many years ago I had an exhibition where the theme was to address the stigma surrounding mental illness, and especially the needless shame that keeps many sufferers from seeking help. In the article, their wording was that "mental illness is shameful." I was horrified!!! So... thank you for bringing this to my attention, Andres, I will definitely make a commentary on Facebook regarding your video. In the meantime, keep on doing what you're doing!! The world needs more beauty in it, and people love your work!!

Impressive!! I shared the video on Facebook today and wrote a little preface: "There is a growing environmentally conscious movement among artists to no longer buy/use toxic chemicals/materials of any kind to make their art. Some even work in a such a way that what they make is temporary, therefore NOT adding to the mountain of "stuff" that our planet is currently drowning in. The idea of LEAVE NO FOOTPRINT is taken quite literally in Amador's stunning creations. p.s. Amador refers to being a "dead fish in the stream." I've always called it being stuck on the hamster wheel. Being born with the soul of an artist means honouring the creative impulse that has been an important human trait since the Paleolithic cave paintings and before. Our world was shaped by creatives, and our survival depends on it."
