Fans have some not-so-holy thoughts about Chris Evans’ new role as a church pastor.

The story follows a small-town private investigator (played by Margaret), who dives into a series of mysterious passings tied to a church, run by cult guru Reverend Drew Devlin (played by Chris).

In a recent clip shared by streamer Peacock on TikTok, Chris’ character was seen changing out of his cassock in the Ethan Coen-directed dark comedy.
The actor stripped down to his jock strap for the scene, proving that “the thirst is real” on social media.
“Thanks for your contribution to society,” one fan said, while another quipped, “You’re doing God’s work – thank you.”
“They made him tuck his meat for some reason,” read one comment online

Others complained about what he was wearing, saying it “looks like a diaper.”

“Somehow, this isn’t flattering. How can they make such a handsome man with a body like that look… unappealing. The strangely featureless diaper-effect cr**ch? That wig plonked on his head?” wrote another.

During the film’s premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May, Chris couldn’t join his co-stars because of his mother’s 70th birthday.
“I wish I could’ve been with my incredible cast and filmmakers at Cannes,” he wrote on social media at the time, “but it was my mother’s 70th birthday and there are some things you just can’t miss! Congrats, everyone!!”

The film received widespread attention for the dynamics between Margaret Qualley and Aubrey Plaza’s characters as well.
Aubrey played the role of a cop and was also Margaret’s love interest in the film.
“I think once Margaret and I started rehearsing and got into a rhythm there were just certain power dynamics that we wanted to address and make sure to dial them in — make sure the nuance and tiny changes along the way all made sense,” Aubrey told The Hollywood Reporter in August.
The star said both she and Margaret were “open and willing to play around” with their roles.

In one particular raunchy bar scene, Aubrey and Margaret heat up the screen as their characters exchange information and suggestive innuendoes.
The steamy scene ended with Aubrey taking her hand out of Margaret’s skirt.
“It was fun. There’s someone from the props department on their knees holding a jar of coconut oil. Aubrey’s got to lift her finger up and have it be wet,” Margaret told Out about the scene.
“It was just playing with different levels of how far you get in that setting and trying to work out the physicality there to make sure that I was saying what we were trying to say, but it was really funny and really fun,” she added.

Fans said they loved the “energy” between the co-stars.
“I never booked a babysitter faster then I have when I found out the release date,” one commented on a clip of the scene, “imma SEE THIS MOVIE IF ITS THE LAST THING I DO.”
