Online Community Members Share Why They Lost All Their Admiration Towards These 30 Celebrities
It's fascinating how most of us are somewhat acclimated to the fact that there are some terrible people out there, but when it comes to famous personalities, whether that would be talk show hosts or full-on Hollywood actors, our judgement gets a little clouded. Who can blame us – it's hard to imagine celebrities living a morally incorrect life when their life seems to be so flawless. We're used to seeing them on big screens, where no mistakes are allowed, so we automatically assume they could do no wrong.
What doesn't help is their ability to have any potential scandal go away. Odd things they might've done get proclaimed as rumors, and the fans continue praising their favorites for their endless talent.
However, this Reddit user decided to dive into the celebrity drama world and asked fellow users to reveal why they've happened to lose all their respect for a well-known personality. The post received almost 30K upvotes and over 24K comments worth of names.

Oprah Winfrey
I'm surprised no one has mentioned Oprah Winfrey yet. Not only did she give a major platform to Dr. Oz & Dr. Phil, she also was good friends with Harvey Weinstein and kept her mouth shut about him, then went on to give a pro-Me-Too speech at the Oscars after he was arrested and got thunderous applause.
10,000 upvotes with a cherry on top. She gave us two shysters who have wreaked havoc. Dr. Oz is loathed by actual medical practitioners, and Dr. Phil is only slightly less loathed by psych professionals.
Amber Heard
Amber Heard - beat on Johnny Depp and then tried to say he beat her, screwing with his career.
Scientologist Celebrities
After watching Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath, any celebrity involved with the Scientology church is pretty off-putting.
He's so creepy.....and his beloved "religion" that's based around Xenu, the dictator of the Galactic Confederacy. Umm, ok. creepy-tom...365fbd.jpg
Ellen Degeneres
Ellen DeGeneres, she made Taylor Swift cry and practically bullied her on live TV, outted Mariah Carey’s pregnancy, need I go on? She treats her guests like trash.
Eric Clapton
I recently found out about Eric Clapton basically bankrupting a little old widow (over 5k in legal fees) for her attempting to sell her late husband's old bootleg DVD of one of his old concerts for $11 online.
F**k that guy.
Gwyneth Paltrow
Gwyneth Paltrow and her sh**ty Goop products that are bad for you.
Kylie Jenner
Kylie Jenner for not paying her factory workers at all.
Travis Scott
Travis Scott, he was a bystander to the deaths of a bunch of his own fans. I just can’t support someone that apathetic to the deaths of his own supporters.
When he offered to pay for the funerals of those who died, the families refused. I applaud them. I wish them peace.
Leonardo DiCaprio
Leonardo DiCaprio, as he jets around on superyachts(where he literally is currently), which uses like 20 gallons per mile, and private jets, etc. all while talking to the UN and Netflix about climate change.
Charlie Sheen
The guy is a self-centred a**hole. Had an entire show around him and was thrown out after turning on everyone, then some other network just gave him a vehicle show where he barely showed any work ethic and when his co-star called him out on that, he had HER fired! Stop rewarding people for being a**holes!
Dr. Phil
Now I realize he just uses sick minded people for his own profit. He brought the creator of Bumfights on the show and kicked him off after showing up dressed as Dr. Phil. The guy said Dr. Phil and him did the exact same thing, Phil just hid it better. After seeing that clip, I have no respect for Dr Phil.
Wendy Williams
Wendy Williams she is just an ugly person on the inside and in general. She has threatened and belittled staff, farted on national TV and blamed a chair. She outed Method Man's wife for having cancer just to get ratings. Once she started catching heat now she's claiming she may have dementia or mental disorders and that's what caused her to do all the stuff she did. Total cop out those are just a few things.
Jared Leto
Jared Leto, 50 year old guy that preys on teenagers. What's weird is everyone knows, jokes about it, but the guy still books work.
Demi Lovato
Demi Lovato - constantly playing the victim card, is a little too delusional and don’t get me started on the frozen yogurt place fiasco.
Lovato is like any addict. She’s selfish, self entitled, and only cares about her next high, not caring about anyone she hurts. Plenty of people have a mental illness and most of them don’t carry on like this self absorbed overgrown spoilt brat. People like her give people with mental illness a bad image using it as an excuse for bad behaviour
Prince
He met his ex-wife when she was sixteen (and declared he was going to marry her right then) and then put her on birth control at nineteen after they had “a really deep friendship” (yeah right) for three years. He later made her do an interview a week after their son died, threw that son’s ashes away, refused to let her get medical care for a miscarriage, and dumped her by the time she was twenty four. I love the man’s music, but I wish people would talk more about the hell that he put Mayte Garcia through.
He tried to trap a young Sinead O'Conner in his house and went apesh!t when she tried to escape.
Rebel Wilson
My brother is a d-tier actor in Australia. Has worked with Rebel Wilson a fair bit. Said she’s the most unpleasant person he’s ever encountered. Makes everyone treat her like an absolute diva and runs through assistants like Epstein through massages. I didn’t have an opinion about her before he told me but it’s not an uncommon sentiment in the acting world.
She had a body double for a film they were both in. She lost a bunch of weight before filming and became really opinionated about having somebody who accurately represented her idea of her body. She finally settled on somebody (this is usually the role of the casting crew based on your height and weight but she insisted she had final say). The body double showed up on set and Rebel decided the woman had put on weight between casting and filming. She grabbed the poor woman’s hips and stomach on the set and yelled at the casting crew for bringing “a hippopotamus on set” to represent her.
Polanski Petition
I just today found out about the 2009 Polanski petition and the 100 celebrities that signed it - so all of them.
Nick Cannon
Nick Cannon. 4 kids by 3 different women in 6 months. Like seriously dude, wrap it up.
Chrissy Teigen
Chrissy Teigen - was an advocate for being kind to people online and then had been cyber bullying Courtney Stodden amongst others.
Justin Timberlake
The stories coming out about Justin Timberlake being a flat out d***head and literally spitting on women have really changed my opinion of him.
Drake
Drake. The ghostwriting. The supposed grooming of the Stranger Things girl. How he pretty much shunned his child and then would always talk about his dad leaving him and his mom. He also has gotten complacent with his music. He's like the personification of Pop Hop now. He kind of just style jacks whatever is popular rn instead of having his own style.
And he was inappropriate with billi elish when she was underage too
Shia Labeouf
Shia LaBeouf, I was one of the holdouts who argued he was misunderstood as an artist and a person. Soon as the FKA Twigs story came out I couldn’t bring myself to continue being a fan. Dude needs help and if we’re being real, probably needs to do time.
Read up on the FK Twigs thing and it sounds like he might be a narcissist: meet someone with all the traits they lack who is successful and popular, love bomb them (over the top romancing): isolate, break them down so they don't know which way is up and keep it up til they've got everything they need from the abused then discard them. She's lucky she had independent finances and was able to get out, many don't. Abuse isn't always physical.
Nicki Minaj
Nicki Minaj because she seems to align herself with sexually violent people.
James Corden
I used to be a real big fan of him and his old Gavin and Stacy stuff and I even liked the lesbian vampire movie too even though a lot of people hated it. And then the stories of how he treats people even his own family started to roll out and I'm like f**k this guy.
I used to like him too but does he really need to be in every single kids animation film?!
Lea Michele
I got pretty into the TV show Glee in 2020 and I didn't know most of the cast beforehand, so It's not like I was a fan of anyone, but after I heard about Lea Michele's ugly behavior I was truly appalled. I don't know how anyone can support her.
In a nutshell, she disrespected a ton of people she have worked with, ever since she was a little girl. She threatened to fire people, belittled the staff, called them cockroaches, told a coworker she would "sh*t in her wig" and other nasty things. Shame, since she's a talented singer.
John Mulaney
He left his wife he always claimed to love so much for the mistress that he got pregnant while still married to his wife. And she wasn't the only woman he had cheated on her with.
Armie Hammer
Armie Hammer. I don’t agree with cannibalism!
Melissa Gilbert
Melissa Gilbert. My mother loved her in the 70s so one year I got her Gilbert’s cookbook and surprised mom by taking her to a book signing near where we live in the Midwest.
She was over the moon excited to meet her. We finally get up to the table and Ms. Gilbert was rude to my mother, and hurried her through. Mom was crushed. I now will not watch anything with her in it. My mind goes back to the rude entitled woman she was.
Chris Pratt
Chris Pratt. Making an Instagram post praising your new wife for “having a healthy child” when your ex-wife had major health issues delivering your other child is such a sc*mbag move.
Honestly don't think it was ever meant that way. It's a very standard kind of thing to say after the birth of a child.
Mark Wahlberg
Mark Wahlberg. He blinded some guy and showed no remorse.
Try google: "In his first ever interview since the attack Johnny Trinh revealed to Mail Online he was already blind in one eye after being injured while fighting the Communists in the Vietnam War."
is it too late to add NoVax DjokeCovid?
3 cheers for Deownundah!
The Karen of tennis
Brilliant!
Ha! Amazing.
LOL :)
I don’t like this negative kind of BP posts, that wants us to feel morally superior to others. We’re just as bad, stupid and hypocrite as the average celebrity, but since we’re not rich or famous, the impact of our deeds is a lot smaller.
I think you're right when people start crowding around talking s**t for superficial reasons. But the Polanski support? I didn't know that and I'm glad I do now. And it's clear very few people have bothered looking up Mark Wahlberg's history.
Ofc we're not saints ourselves but it is nice to know which celebrities to not support, and i don't just mean ones that were rude, but those who are abusers, rapists and other kinds of evil
I will tell everyone, if they wanna hear it or not, what a creep Woody Allen is, and i hope he once gets what he deserves. Everyone is quick at pointing to industry, bosses, politicians, drunks, people with low IQ or socially awkward/alien, but when it's about culture, people fear they would have to stop consuming their art. so they start advocating, defending or justifying things that they would never accept from people in their neighbourhood with a fiercenss, as if there is something to win for them out of it. so most of them never really get punished, not even socially or financially. i can't stand THAT bigottery.
Well, if you want to pretend like those people are innocent and pure, you can, vut you will be wearing a ping glasses
I immedietly agreed with you, then remembered som things in the post, that not even I would do.
Sanne H. Speak for yourself!! If people are stupid enough to idolise arrogant people, then you cannot blame these 'celebrities' for being arrogant.
These are people asking for our money and support. Their scumbaggery needs to be broadcast so that people are aware where they are spending their money.
I totally agree. There's enough places to read celebrity gossip without Bored Panda joining in. This one of the very few places on the internet where most of the stories are nice to read. I hope the (seemingly increasing) trend of this kind of story ends.

It's a fluff site. Sometimes feeling a little morally superior is fun. Very few people on this site take the articles seriously or even take anything away from them. It's only entertainment. Chiiiiill.
Being an entertainment site doesn't mean it shouldn't be called out for spreading hateful content. Some people do think this stuff is true as is evident from the comments under each post. I think it's really good that users are calling the site out for this. we're bored but that doesn't mean we'll be happy with whatever garbage is thrown at us. Also I'm not yelling at you or anything just ranting. People sound angry and rude in comments so I'm just saying.
no to be fair some of this guys or girls were rumors started on social media who could of just been some people you hated them and wanted to ruin there reputation or just wanted a attention
I felt like that with one of these. He was sort of bad, but he's improved, and become a good person for the most part. I think (I might be wrong, but) that most of the reason is his weight
I agree. Some of these sounded very much like unsubstantiated rumors.
Spelling!! 'could have,' not 'could of'; 'their' reputation, not 'there'.
One of the worst thing we have done as a society is to raise celebrities up so high, they are beyond honesty, decency and the law, and we keep them up there, making them rich and famous, while they contribute nothing of value to the world.
Well people DO go watch their movies and listen to their music. It's the same with sports stars. If a person really has a gripe about a particular celeb then their duty is to stop supporting them. As long as they keep appearing in films/songs/matches and people keep going to see/listen/watch, well... the celeb retains their status.
Well said.
Hey there, you, yes you, throwing stones from outside your glass house. You seem to have forgotten that everyone has a past, everyone changes, sometimes they even learn from their mistakes, stop being so judgemental of people you’ve never met, you don’t know 99% of the story and you only know what some half-assed tabloid has decided to print. Yes have an opinion but don’t throw someone under a bus and perpetuate the hate, it’s unhealthy for you and them. No winners here.
Secondhand experiences by disgruntled assholes aren't fact, it's gossip and conjecture. This story doesn't deserve time. There's always ALWAYS more to the story than what some fan knows.
I can't understand the cult of celebrity. Why do people get fixated on these people? OK, they are good at acting or whatever, but they are well rewarded for their talent. Some haven't even got talent, just a good agent and an overinflated ego. Then they treat the people who enabled them to get rich like dirt? Honestly, stop flattering them with attention. There's a lot more deserving people out there. celebrities may have a lot of money in the bank but unless they contribute something worthwhile to society they aren't "worth" any nore than the rest of us.
It's natural for people to get attached to those that make them feel a certain way. It's like following a song, character or perosna off screen. I think there should be some kind of education about this though because it can be dangerous.
Nah! Humans are just silly! Irrational and selfish. (So glad I am NOT one!)
I feel like there is a disproportionate amount of scumbag A-lists. I like to think that most humans are decent people, maybe fame really does go to your head?
I think the fame extrapolates the scumbagness in someone...its not hard to be a decent person and keep being it. Keanu Reeves, Denzel and lots others are so much decent but theres a certain entitled group of assholes who feel like the world owes them
Denzel has had his share of stupid behavior.
I love me some Keanu but google his younger years "demon rides". Completely f****d up irresponsible behavior. No one is perfect.
I just think if someone is famous and every thing they do is in public and under scrutiny, it's very easy to find something not-so-nice that they did, or something that people are offended by. Like I've made mistakes and done and said stupid things but nobody remembers or cares. Celebrities or people who live in the spotlight don't have that kind of luxury.
Half of this s**t is assumptions and bs rumors lmao...wow, the fact that this was even a post is sad
Jim Carrey. Every televangelist. Cosby. Zuckerberg. Bezos. Ugh. Never much for celebrities because Dad was fairly well known in his time and often said stars are just regular people with a talent. Celebrities rely on publicity instead of talent.
I certainly agree especially about Cosby. His troubles only started when a couple of women had the guts to report him. I think this has been going on for a very long time! I know this will get me in deep s**t but could his son have been murdered by an irate person in retaliation for one of his escapades? Sorry Pandas but I'm sure someone ese out there has thought the same thing!
Realizing America has 33,000 feral gangs that survive and even thrive despite known activities leads me to believe they are... useful... to those with money or influence. Was the death of young Ennis Cosby retaliatory? Maybe? After reading of Martha Mitchell's torturous experience and death my trust in coincidence is almost nil.
Can you please elaborate on Jim Carrey?
To be fair I didn't know half of them
Why does everyone care about celebrities so much? And why believe rumours? You don’t know them. Grow up people.
If I want to read a Buzzfeed article, I'd go there, and I did the other night when I felt like being a cow about celebrities. This was a thread just a couple of days ago there. Please leave this stuff off BP, this is my safe place!
I am starting to see BoredPanda go down the dreaded route of the dark-side of the Internet aka Buzzfeed. I just feel like I am seeing more and more of the copy-and-paste style listicles form Reddit on this website. I am probably going to date myself, but I remember when this site used to be focused on showcasing new artists and providing more uplifting little articles like "Dog befriends dolphin and they are friends for life"
I'll date myself along side you, me too. This used to be a site for uplifting content and would come here when I didn't want to engage with the celebrity/social culture (because I'm easily sucked in as evidenced by me making comments on some of these celebs), but now it's at least 50% AITA Reddit, 25% Buzzfeed and 20% HEY PANDAS (stupid question here)...
Why don't we cancel everyone? Muslim celebs for what Bin Laden and ISIS have done in the name of Allah, Christian celebs for all the crimes against humanity Christians have done in the name of God. GM, as owners of Opel, for the atrocities during Nazism before and during WWII, Chrysler for what it's parent company FIAT did at the same time, and the same goes for Ford Motor Company who had a European division? All the Japanese brands? Chinese manufacturers exploiting their workers to make your iPhones? All American companies, for paying workers workers starvation wages, while the bosses make millions? So called Sports Heroes? Who's lives did they save? Every politician, for lying, cheating, and working solely for their own and corporate interests? GROW UP! NOBODY IS PERFECT! YOU the least of all.
"But I wasn't the only one speeding officer, that guy just sped past as well, where is HIS ticket?" ... that's your argument.
It doesn’t condone the behaviour, but I believe a few of these people have mental illnesses.
Mental illness is not an excuse for being rude.
Um, yes. It kind of is. It's just not one you might want to use if you don't really have severe mental issues. If you're functioning good enough to be an actor, you can't blame your actions on mental issues that well.
Louder for the ones in the back.
Mental illness is an explanation at best, but not a justification at all.
I cancel Chuck Norris because I heard once, someone broke a cracker in front of him and he destroyed their entire town.
So.Much.Hate :/
Some of these don’t belong here.
I mean, who are these people? I dont know half of them
Why isn't Trump on this list?
Plenty of people on the list who I had no respect for in the first place ...
Moral of the Story; Everyone sucks. The End.
No idea who half these people are.
I feel like this is what you get if you let yourself get all obsessive about celebrities and following Hollywood gossip. How can you be assured of ANYONE’S character, positive or negative, based on that? Having said that, however….I used to really love Johnny Depp. I loved his acting and the variety of characters he played. But I don’t like watching them anymore after his ridiculous behaviour smuggling dogs into Australia and then offering that pompous, pathetic online apology. And this stuff is not based on Hollywood gossip - he did that all himself.
No wonder I don't like everyone of them. I can tell they're bad.
I fins is so very very hard to believe that anybody ever thought that these ugly people were ever acceptable.
I’ll never understand why anyone looks up to,or fawns over, celebrities. People give them far too much power and then wonder why they get away with everything. It’s crazy how vehemently some celebrity super-fans defend their “chosen ones” going so far as to threaten harm to those who say anything untoward to their celebrity gods. It’s just creepy weird and not exactly healthy mentally
Some of these are accurate but some are also just hearsay and convicting people for things they did decades ago. Mark Wahlberg should not be on this list, instead of Googling about his life as a teenager, why not Google some of the kind acts he has done for countless people in his adult life? Many celebrities become horrible people in their rise to fame but Wahlberg is still a very down to earth and kind person!
I would add Angelina Jolie for being a husband stealer and an over all wierdo.
My husband literally worshiped Bill Cosby. 'Nuff said.
Lists like this are why and how rumors spread - if you're going to put reputation-damaging information out to the world, check your sources and confirm your facts...then give us links to follow for more info. I hadn't heard about 90% of this, but without proper sourcing, I don't take any of it as "fact." I shouldn't even read articles like this...
By reading the comments above I was afraid people were going to start a lynch mob. Some are worthy of one but not all of them. Imho.
It’s no problem if I don’t know 2/3 of them?
This was a hard list to read through. I'm not disagreeing with any of the stories, but if I was a celebrity I would have some pretty ugly one lined descriptions too. We all make mistakes. Whether we make amends and change our choices is what can help rather than hurt. Also, trauma therapy really help to end the perpetual cycle of abuse. Peace.
Losing respect for Olivia Rodrigo as-well, she writes and entire album about her ex called sour and has the audacity to call him toxic, then lets her fans s**t shame his new girl friend even though they didn't cheat at all, like wtf was that abt
Many of these famous people ARE the 1% everyone pretends to hate, yet adore them? I don't get it.
So basically.... humans being human
...i am 60 now and did not know who most of these peeps were and am so thankful for my pandas i dodged multiple bullets...
Everyone here acts as if they know all these people personally, have the totally accurate inside scoop on all their thoughts, feelings, and relationships, and are morally superior to all of them. None of this is true. This is a very negative clickbait article. And why the hell would you admire someone you do not at all know, just based on what their full-time publicity machinery puts out in the first place? Mindrot.
I have trouble admiring people who admire celebrities.
What, no Jackie Chan?
How about Jimmy Kimmel and his staggeringly misogynistic role in "The Man Show"? It was like a Joe Roegan podcast mixed with an episode of Jackass and catered by Hooters! It was disturbing that it ever made it on the air
Yeah, there are a lot more missing on the list that earned a spot for all different reasons
I like reading these " celebrity " posts just to see how many I've heard of. Average is about 30%.
I would put J.K Rowling in this list.
Apparently Jay Z stabbed a guy in the stomach, this is the guy who beyonce sang all the love songs about still don't know how I feel about that one

You left out Bill Gates
You mean the guy who made the majority of computers on the planet operational and who gives his money to health charities in Africa, funds vax research, and otherwise actually cares to help humanity? Or are you grumbling that he hit on a fellow staffer?
I hated Bill Gates in the late 90s and early 2000s, but since he retired, he redeemed himself.
