One cat is determined to prove that it’s not only dogs that can work as rescue animals.
Redditor sc4s2cg claims he got lost in Switzerland while hiking and eventually ended up in an abandoned town. “I was checking my map to see how I can get back to the hostel, and the only official way down was through a trail that was closed,” he said. Right at that moment a kitty showed up and guided the man to the valley, constantly looking back to check if the tourist was following it.
After sc4s2cg shared his story, others responded about also meeting the same cat in the region (and they even had photos to prove it). Looks like this Swiss guide kitty is taking his duties seriously!

My inner child wants to believe that the cat is some kind of Mountain Spirit that helps lost hikkers and tourists.
that was my first thought!..
Probably trained by his mother to guide people down mountains. I visited a farm once that an intentional community living in yurts and a woodland with art sculptures in it and hardly anybody was around but this little dog ran after me when I entered the wood and over took me. She then walked the trail ahead of me so I wouldn't go off course. I later found her mother had taught her to do this as she herself and be trained to lead visitors around the trails.
I hadn't thought hits but it makes sense.
My wife had a similar experience but it was a squirrel that led her back to the base of the mountain trail after she had become lost. If the cat grew up in the village I dont doubt that it knew this guy was not supposed to be there and knew where the people (food) were. Animals have proven to be smarter than humans on many occasions, this being one of them. :)
Animals are definitely smarter than us... No doubt!
Yeah when I have a problem with mathematics, I give it to my dog ^^
They just have different skills and rely on intuition more than humans do.
Well, watching the video, it looks to me that the one doing all the "looking back" was the guy, not the cat... Nice little story. Not sure I believe it, though :D
it looks like he only videotaped the end part of the journey... it's still likely :)
Someone posted a comment about photo #4, which shows a different cat.
