Artist Fills Bottles With Smoke And Brushes It Away To Create Beautiful Art

Jim Dingilian proves that a creative and skillful artist can create works of art with just about anything. By coating the interior of empty glass bottles with black smoke and then carefully brushing it away with tools mounted on dowels, he creates detailed and beautiful but dark works of smoke art that are dripping with a sense of suburban decay.

The idea of using discarded glass bottles to house scenes of suburban decay was intentional and perfectly fitting; “When found by the sides of roads or in the weeds near the edges of parking lots, empty liquor bottles are artifacts of consumption, delight, or dread. As art objects, they become hourglasses of sorts, their drained interiors now inhabited by dim memories,” writes the artist.
