but you read books and have use for them aside from art. fabrics and metals main purpose is to be used in pieces. Although this statue really is amazing and is worth the books.
I have wondered if books used in this way have been in circulation, or if they are printing castoffs, if there is such a thing - misprints, books damaged during manufacturing, etc. Either way, better they end up as art than in a landfill!
but how do you know they're 'perfectly good books?' they could be old/obsolete text books or just old & torn up books. think positive! (hoping they are NOT perfectly good books...)
It is interesting that somebody with the architectural knowledge to build a structure sturdy enough to support something like this would dedicate her life to something so ephemeral as temporary art displays. People are amazing and mysterious.

What do you think ?
What a waste of perfectly good books!
The same could be said for many materials used in sculpture..... wood, fabric, leather, gold.... art is art!

Maybe they are free copies of Trump's autobiography that were distributed and no one wanted anyway XD
God help us if there ever is such a thing. It certainly wouldn't be written (or read) by him.

I agree, having worked in the book business for many years. Damaged, used and unreadable, better they end up as art indeed.
You are not wrong, she uses obsolete editions, misprints and collective donations
Many old textbooks contain unintended misinformation. for instance, for years they had the wrong head on one or more of the dinosaurs.

It would be cool to see that in libraries but 'fake' books using leather and gold and paint and etc
Yeah...
maybe they're not as good as they seem
They probably aren't perfectly good books. I think they use damaged books.
