I am a photographer, I've been shooting for a long time now, but decided to get into colorizing years ago. I've always thought time travel would be fun, but changing the course of time is a pain, and it's just not worth it.
When I colorize, I'm a time traveler—seeing the up-close detail and filling in the color. My finished pieces will look as if I went back in time and shot it with my own camera. Many of them have the look of a classical painting.
This group of pictures is just New York City. Some of these buildings are gone, but you can still find some of them now.

It is nicely done, but for me these are more "art" then "historically correct". There was not so much color these days, and in a lot of photo's a blue sky with clouds was added.

Nice photos. In my opinion there is a little too much colorization- too saturated? Not sure if that was the intention.

Right? I would think in the height of the industrial revolution everything would look dirty, sooty, grey. More like the original photos. Certainly not "that" much color.

These are nice, but at this point of distortion it's more like a painting than a colorized photo. I would change the title

They do point out in the bio/description that some of these look more like classical paintings.

According to the author, everything should look like a painting, but these clouds are too realistic (looks copy paste from a photo) and often steel the spotlight from the other parts of the picture.

I prefer the BWs. The colored ones are too loud and vibrant. Almost like watching a HD musical filmed today but set in 19th century NYC.

Yeah the colorized photos make it less realistic. I was hoping color would make it feel more like you're there.

I like the old photos and the idea. I also appreciate the work involved but something seems off. Too garish perhaps?

Ugh...again with hitting send. These are a little garish, but the effect is fun and kind of adds a little flavor to the scene. But they are definitely, in most photos, not the real thing.

Accidentally hit send. I also googled about 100 different exampkes of the first color photos. And I will have to agree with the other occments. There is too much saturated color. With the invention of Photoshop and digital photography it is now easier than ever to have fun with a photo...make the Arizona sunset flow in shades of purple, red and orange, saturate a forld of flowers, etc. As long as one is up front about the "extra boost"

These are less colourised photos and more postcard-style paintings. That they were originally photographs gets completely lost.

If you read the description/ bio, they do say that these look more like classical paintings than photos.

These are all beautiful -- but somehow they look like wonderful paintings of the photographs, rather than colorized photographs. I agree that the past was far more colorful than people realize but there's something about the technique that makes me think brushstrokes rather than camera.

I like the fact that colour has made the scenes come to life- something that is lacking in B&W photography and film. I do think the artist has taken some liberty with the choices of colour, as all you can really tell from the original photos is that the colours were light, medium or dark in tint.
