The Best Wedding Photos Of 2018 Show What Happens When You Pay For A Good Photographer
Wedding photography has evolved into a significant profession of its own over the years, encompassing a variety of styles and approaches to help document one of the most important days in a couple's life.
Naturally then, like any artistic profession, there is a place where your skills can be recognized and judged by your peers. Fearless Awards is a curated competition which unveils a carefully-chosen collection of top-class wedding pictures every two months (you can also find the best of 2017 here).
"Fearless Photographers was founded in 2010 when I was still a working wedding photographer. I am now retired from wedding photography so I can work full-time on the Fearless Photographers business. I founded Fearless to showcase the work of the best photographers specialized in weddings who made amazingly beautiful images that went beyond typical wedding ceremony photography. I wanted to compile collections of these wedding photos to show the world how unique and breathtaking couple photos could be," the creator of Fearless Photographers told Bored Panda.
These awards recognize only the very best wedding photos, only 2 out of every 100 submissions are chosen, so prepare to be truly inspired! "Right now, about 3,100 wedding photographers are listed on the site. Our "Fearless" community is very active in efforts to educate, inspire, and help each other."
Bored Panda has compiled a list of some of the most impressive, artistic and cute pictures of the year so far, images that perfectly capture the drama, emotion and pure joy of getting hitched. Scroll down below to check them out for yourself, and vote for your favorites too!

Love!! She almost looks like the 1970's and he seems pretty modern, but his jacket seems 60's.
most disinterested - poor sweet little thing - having to be pageboy
Load More Replies...when you stayed up all night and have to be up in an hour for the wedding
This was my husband on our wedding day.... along with the groomsmen
Load More Replies...He's been sampling the bar…just to make sure everything is up to standard, of course.
Luv this! Reminded me of my wedding where my Shitzu sat quietly thru the ceremony wearing a peach bowtie to match my dress 😍
Am just tearful at the quality of emotion in this one image. I dont understand someone who doesnt get it .This is the moment you are giving your precious daughter away to another man. This is the most beautiful you will ever see her and it is the last day she will be your child and under your protection.
My dad has no right to "give me away", I never belonged to him. But I will always be his child and he will always protect me until the day he (or I) dies, married or not. And why don't they cry when they "give" their sons away? Are they less precious? Plus most people had partners before the one they marry, so they have been "given away" (several times) before. I understand crying at the ceremony, but that is for me still just a dress.
Load More Replies...I'm not going to argue "giving" someone away, and the "right" to do or not do. I see a dad, seeing his daughter, who is looking beautiful, and dad is overcome with emotion. That, in itself, is lovely.
Wow. . .the comments on this one really turned into a shitfest, didn't they? Just appreciate the photo and stop being so damn triggered and hyper-reactive.
The picture is lovely. The comments are not. Mothers AND fathers are overcome with joy and yes, a bit of sadness, when their children get married. Why? Because life is moving on, and their 'babies' aren't 'babies' anymore. It's a big moment, full of emotion. We don't need to add all that silly 'the father is giving his daughter to another man and she won't be under his protection anymore' nonsense. It can be an emotional, touching, sweet moment without all that.
Agree. Just enjoy it as it is without too much overthinking
Load More Replies...i think it kinda represents that she can't just walk back to childhood.
Load More Replies...I think he's happy, it seems that it means so much to him that his grandmother is still here and able to attend the wedding.
I hope one day, after they start dating, that they recreate this photo.
They're kids. I suspect they were throwing things at each other within 5 minutes of the ceremony's end.
Load More Replies...Hiring a professional squirrel keeps the nuts out of an outdoor wedding, but they can get squirrely if you forget to pay them. ALWAYS PAY YOUR SQUIRREL!
LOL - thanks for the tip! I wish I'd had one to keep the nuts out of MY wedding ;-)
Load More Replies...You know it's good when even forest creatures want to give their best wishes.
May whoever objects to this wedding speak now or forever hold their peace...I object! No you cant marry him! I love you!
I guess these are the brides... If my memory serves me right these two ladies merried in their nineties after being a lifetime couple.
Load More Replies...Hahahaha! We know what marriage really is, eh? Should we tell her? Nope! Let her find out on her own.! No one told us!
it seems like he's setting her on fire, rather than putting it out... Just the way it should be! 😊💕
Simply the best, one of the greatest photographer I've had the pleasure to meet. Congrats dear
Yes, he'd be the good little boy that somehow always finds mischief.
Load More Replies...He's adorable! But the guy on his left looks like he's mad at the whole world.
[turns off engine] ... looks like we’re not going anywhere until this train passes.
With kids you often don't have time to hide :-P
Load More Replies...Being the mom of a 2-1/2 year old, I so relate! Holding it is sometimes needed for proper aim- nothing wrong with this, why are people so uncomfortable with this, blows me away.
Seriously! I can relate too, my son pulled his pants down in the front yard the other day but if he were in a suit I would help him for proper aim!
Load More Replies...Why is she making that face as she holds his peepee? I never held my son's. Never heard of any one holding their son's penis, but I guess so he wouldn't pee on his clothes?
So he wouldnt pee all over his suit im guessing? Though its still weird..
Load More Replies...This is cute, but could you imagine that kid being a teen and someone pulls out this picture of him? Ha ha.
this is soooo real!! lol. My son dressed him self in his new "soft" suit and left off his underwear. so his pants kept slipping down.. lol and he was the ring bearer.. to funny.
Shows that the TV show "V" with lizard aliens is based on a true story... I wish it were in color with green skin.
My kind of wedding. Was the whole farmyard invited, or just the cow?
yes but also kinda cool that you can see the men and women but in 2 different rooms
Let the ritual of the Coven of the Sisterhood for bridezillas commence! LMAO
I'm sorry, but this one reminds me of some sort of ritual or something. XD
So beautiful! It just makes you happy for her and how beautiful her special day was! She really was the center of attention!
the only thing I can think is... I dont have so many friends... hahaha :(
Looks like an orthodox jewish wedding. Men and women in separated rooms.
Load More Replies...i got shudder when look at this picture *really really scared of heights
Casiab Podărelu is the photographer, not Alba Iulia. Alba Iulia is a city... .
Amazing timing. I love the juxtaposition of the old building, and new dress and veil!
the sweetest photo. Joy and sadness depicted all in one picture. ;''(
awe that reminds me of a documentary I saw.. The nana wa too sick to take part at the wedding, so the bride and her family etc went to her
Máquina, siempre anteponiendo los sentimientos y haciendolos un arte!!!
Go with the more romantic choice and leave at that.
Load More Replies...That really is cool. Definitely beats lighting the infinity candle hands down :D <3
Nice picture ! J'en fais aussi sur mon site ;) flashetmoi.fr
For me.. those tears are product of that overwhelming feeling of love. When you love someone SO MUCH that it just fills you and you can't believe that this person, this beautiful, amazing person loves you back, you feel amazed by thinking how happy you are because s/he exists and how s/he can make you feel this way, and experience this profound and pure LOVE.
Such feelings that brings tears are strong emotions that just cant be beat
I'm not sure if that's a tear. For me it's rather some kind of a beauty-spot.
Reminds me of my best friend's wedding. Her groom was so in love with her and so enchanted by her when she walked up the aisle that he could hardly get his vows out. It was so sweet. <3
I wonder if maybe they had to get through so many obstacles to get married that they can't hold back the tears at the realization that they're finally married!
Stick a penguin in the middle of a house fire and it becomes an adorable house fire.
I am now officially bummed I didn't think of having a penguin in my wedding. Not sure where I would've gotten one in Texas, but that's beside the point.
I'd love to see the backstory for that... if they are owning a pengu at home.......
They got married at a zoo, most likely. The penguin is an African Blackfoot, which is an endangered species, so good luck getting one on the black market. ;) Also, you absolutely do *not* want a pet penguin. I've had the chance to spend time with the ABFs as a volunteer at my local zoo, and other than they (and all penguin species) are perpetual pooping machines, there are numerous practical and financial reasons to stick with the standard domestic species.
Load More Replies...I don't know why, but this one somehow creeps me out, the hand's position is kind of strange to me.
As far as actual photography goes, this is by far the best one so far. The vast majority of the others are either fortuitous situations or good editing. This one is 100% composition (though I suspect an edited crop from a wider photo)
Don't think it was composed. He's doing pressure release [points on tight muscles. You can see her right side under the thumb is swollen. These points cause migraines
Load More Replies...Oh this is going to be a wonderful marriage. Full of pranks ... and joy and laughter.
Oh my goodness. My absolute fave. Love <3 so many things about this
Grandma’s hands were always filled with love and comfort.. I miss her hands, too!
Is it the groom in the background, or someone else? Hmmmm
Load More Replies...Looks like she just found out that the groom slept with the maid of honor last night.
Looks like she just found out groom slept with the maid of honor the night before
beau portrait ! Un peu de douceur ! Venez voir les photos de flashetmoi.fr
Should have used the diamond as the bridge by rotating it just a little more.
It's because there's a toddler acting like a toddler at a fancy occasion who's decided to throw a tantrum on a carpet that matches her dress.
Load More Replies...When you have to go to a wedding but your aunts keep asking when they will see you get married
Welcome to real life. Got to find a photographer who dares to take this pic. I bet the little girl will hear the story related to this a few times
she's going to see if for sure at her own wedding!! I guarantee it.
Load More Replies...Its the "haldi" ceremony in Indian weddings. "Haldi" or turmeric powder is applied by the friends and family on bride before the wedding day. It helps improve skin complexion during the actual wedding.
Thanks for the information. It adds to the photo.
Load More Replies...By covering stain generously in paprika. Crtl+T
Load More Replies...And it is after this ritual that the bride and the groom cannot meet each another until the wedding
Do some friends and family overdo it just for the opportunity, I would bring a firefighter truck ok let me get the hose out and we can get this started
very cool cultural information! But I'm wondering if that would sting her eyes??
It's my guess it's more the lighting and whatever tweaking the photog did to the picture after the fact ... something to bring out the shadows and give the B&W more punch.
Load More Replies...possibly her son or her now step son. I have a picture very similar to this one with my stepson at our wedding (then 7years old), and I cherish it deeply. It's on my dresser. I am blessed to be his (bonus)mom. He is now 20 and one of my best friends.
Figures Insensitive people would comment on the make up instead of appreciating the beauty in this picture
I'm curious why they both look so grief-stricken. To those commenting about her makeup: her complexion is flushed, you morons.
Who cares about the makeup, its all about emotions. Its a gorgeous picture!
Amazing emotional picture. So much better than the fake posed shots
Reminds me of a scene from a musical. I expect them to start dancing any moment.
Oh I thought that looked familiar! I love this photo!
Load More Replies...This must have been Brian May's wedding (Bohemian Rhapsody)
Yes…or a 'social club' scene from a Mob movie.
Load More Replies...This is great. It shows the sacrifice that a mother gives of here body, time, and energy even on her wedding day to her little one.
Having sex is a “natural act” also, but do all you 21st century free spirits really want a couple f*****g next to you in a restaurant, yeah it's natural, but not everyone wants to see it. Have some respect for those around you
Equating sex to breastfeeding is just moronic.
Load More Replies...A couple truly in love. and they can ride off into the sun set together.
We have a saying here: A horse would laugh, which means something super riddiculous that even a horse would laugh xD Came to my mind instantly, though not a good association with a wedding I think xD
And I would've gotten away with it too, if it weren't for those meddling kids!
Load More Replies...Great picture but I can't help but think Madame Vastra when I look at it.
My grandmother raised her kids in the depression. Back then your breast fed a long as you could because it was free food.
Children can actually breastfeed until they are around 8 years old. After that, they lose the ability due to changes in the structure of their faces and inner mouth. I breastfed my baby until she was almost 4. Only stopped because she started school. Apparently, sticking a boob through the fence at lunchtime is a no-no. Who knew? Anyway, as I always say, you don't like to see this? Easy solution - look away and mind your own business!
The controversial topic of breastfeeding (Why?) has once again divided the internet, whoa look at these comments. I genuinely wish everyone here could experience breastfeeding, might change the world
My ex-wife had a friend who was still breast feeding her 5 year old. They were at our house and the kid kept trying to unbutton mom's shirt to get some lunch. Not cute!
Live the expression on the child's face. My friends who breastfed their children til the child was a toddler & wanted to stop, have mentally healthy children.
Breastfeeding is great, but the American Academy of Pediatric Dentists recommends no more than 6 breastfeeding sessions per day after the child reaches 1 year old. The dentist I work for suggests stopping at one year & using a plastic cup with water. Between the age of 1-6 American Academy of Pediatrics recommends no more than 6 ounces of milk or juice from a cup (without a spout or straw) per day. Who knows a child that is malnourished? Not me. Who knows a child with Early Childhood Caries? Spend a day with me at work & your thoughts on breastfeeding & bottle feeding will change!
They need to stop doing this. A bride was doing a shot like this... and her dress weighed her down... drowned.
Nota good idea. Several brides all over the world from wearing large dresses for water shoots so the gown weighs them down.
It is very easy to judge when you are not the one behind the camera. Wedding's are some of the most difficult moments to photograph well. There are so many factors - the bride, groom, guest and weather do not always cooperate. It is a very stressful job, you must have ability to see and capture the ordinary and spot the extraordinary and catch it in an instant. It really is a gift. Use of photo editing can enhance a ordinary photo and make it sublime. Expectations of what will be captured is very high and a great wedding photographer meets and exceeds those expectations with barely being noticed. I loved all of these photographs. Kudos to the photographer(s) who took them.
I love to try my hand at all types of photography, but would never want to be a wedding photographer the beautiful photos in this post will inspire me to up my game elsewhere, however
i feel like this was really just an ad for the photographer. it didn't appear that there were multiple photographers or maybe it's just multiple companies. It was effective. Definitely amazing work. Memories.
Amazing! After the big day all you have are the memories and photos. A great photographer will capture some of those moments that you missed as well.
Just be aware that this is not the standard, but the best of the best. You'd need to hire those people and they need to have a good day to get these results.
This post mostly shows a bunch of people more concerned with being able to look good online than anything to do with what a marriage ceremony is for. It's really discouraging.
