Anti-vaxxer conspiracies have continued to spread, and because of their beliefs - so have the measles. Oregon and Washington are among eighteen states that allow families to opt-out of vaccines for viral diseases based on philosophical beliefs, which is why these areas have been the most recent hotbed for the measles outbreak. More than 50 people have been infected across Southwest Washington state and Northwest Oregon - and everyone is fed up with the anti-vaccination science deniers.
"It's an outbreak because generally, the way we define an outbreak is when you have more observed cases than expected cases. And generally with measles, the expected number is zero," Dr. Alan Melnick with Clark County Public Health told KOIN6 TV in Portland, Oregon, last week. "You know, we have a very effective vaccine for measles. Two shots are 97 percent effective. So we really shouldn't be seeing measles." Elnathan John, a Nigerian writer and lawyer, called out American's who wanted travel bans on countries with Ebola by pointing out the current measles outbreak.
Many anti-vaxxers use the possibility of having an autistic child as one of their debate points - but this autistic person had a counterpoint.
This one I fully concure with. I'm autistic to and not an idiot. During my life I've been headhunted by companies, worked around the world, studied years at university, experienced things few have, been in love , had my heart broken, etc. Yet theese idiots seem to think that I would be better of dead than live my life.
An argument for not vaccinating kids is that it's more natural and therefore healthier- well this user points out that humans created vaccines for a reason.
Anti-vaxxers say they want to return to a simpler, more 'natural' time - well this user had some holes to poke in that theory.
Approximately 110 000 people died from measles in 2017 – mostly children under the age of 5 years according to the World Health Organization.
Internet user highlights exactly how necessary vaccines are and other commenters jump in with equally valid comparisons.
I see that people are getting downvoted for saying this, but kids don't need meat in the same way that dogs need meat. Dogs are carnivores, humans are omnivores. I do think that children should not be forced into a vegetarian diet before they are capable of making that decision themselves, though - because a vegetarian diet is very difficult to do correctly. It's much easier to get all of your nutrients without restrictions. But that part is opinion.
I agree that kids don't need meat but lacto-ovovegetarian diet is not very difficult to do correctly. I mean people should be more concerned if kids didn't eat their veggies

By the way, how anti-vaxxers feels about walking our dogs unvaccinated? And without leashes of course. Have you seen a wolf with a leash? And if it biting your kid, well, Susan, that's nature! (just kidding here, biting your unvaccinated kid would be probably unhygenic to my dog).
It's a shame I can't upvote more. Best wishes: fellow dog owner :)
Load More Replies...Mostly true - however, your kids can survive without meat. There are other ways to get protein. (I'm a pro-vaxx vegetarian.)
This is just plain stupid. Meat consumption has nothing to do with the necessity of vaccination. If you make these stupid arguments for valid points, you just give anti-vaxxers ammunition.
Vaccines are a personal choice. The COVID vaccine is dangerous. We all have the right to choose whether or not to be vaccinated. This is a site that denigrates people who choose NOT to be vaccinated. The site fails to mention that the COVID vaccine has killed an estimated 300,000 people so far. They also fail to mention the millions who are permanently disabled by the COVID vaccine.
are you talking about covid or the vaccine, because im confused

Soooo, just because you haven't had the flu because you "learned how to avoid them" (which pretty much isn't possible... what are you doing, DODGING the flu???!!!), that means that vaccinations are useless? Like it said in one of the anti-vaxxers post before, just because I'm still alive doesn't mean death is a myth.

In other places we all eat whatever flying, walking and swimming. Same as western countries. I dont know who started this myth "indians are vegetarians" P.S : my engilsh not good. Bt try to understand the point.

Two sides have spirited debate over vaccinations.
There was another recent Bored Panda article, written by a woman who had lifelong adverse reactions to a vaccine. She's STILL pro-vaccine. Why? The disease she was vaccinated against is still worse than her vaccine related complications https://www.boredpanda.com/tetanus-diphtheria-vaccine-side-effects-guillain-bare-syndrome-anti-vaxxers/

Anti-vaxxers can't provide scientific proof backing up their arguments, same as flat-earthers can't provide photos from the edge of the world :D

Load More Replies...I'm 64. When I was 2 I got measles, not even very badly. Then we went on holiday to a family farm where I - and everyone else - had fresh milk - it being a dairy farm - I got tuberculosis - no-one else did. It was because I'd not long had the measles and it had dropped my immune resistance very low. So at 3 I spent 8 months in a sanotorium - and I was lucky I got it in my right knee and left eye. My mother could only visit at weekends as it was a 2 hour journey each way and they didn't have a car. I can still remember the injections - and when I came out of hospital I had streptomycin tablets. They were very successful, but it was early in their development and were made in liver, they were big brown smarties that you had to chew and tasted awful. I was lucky - I survived - not all the children did. Since then I've never been healthy - I had my right kneecap removed when I was 22 because of arthritis, I have fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. All because I had measles
I was not vaccinated as a kid for medical reasons (only had polio and smallpox vaccines - back then they still vaccinated against smallpox!) and then I had them all - pertussis, measles, mumps, chicken pox... It was not fun - I spent most of my childhood years in hospitals. Vaccinate your kids!
As an avid essential oil user... I have to deal with antivaxxers all the time (rolls eyes). One argument that I see a lot is "I wouldn't set my kid on fire to keep yours warm" and every time I see some one post it I just blink at the screen. How is that even a valid argument. I would say it's comical to watch it but really its just scary.
Wait, so if enough people don't vaccinate, the diseases will mutate and the vaccines won't work anymore? That's terrifying.
Quite the contrary. Diseases mutate to resist vaccines (they need to find another way in order to survive).
Load More Replies...Fear is the greatest destroyer of good deeds. I can guarantee you that 90% of all anti-vaxxers out there were vaccinated as kids. Antivaxxers say the pharmaceutical industry is in it for the profits. But baby coffins, walkers and wheelchairs aren't cheap...so who would you rather give your money to. The people that say that they can keep your child alive or the ones that take advantage of them after they've been harmed by a preventable disease?
Of course 'Big Pharma' has to make money - to pay for the billion dollar cost to study and recieve approval of their therapies. BIG FARMA also is in it for the money - do you know how much a modern tractor costs?

Apparently being an anti vaxxers means your not only dumb, but you have bad grammar as well. Measles (aren't) dangerous.
Do people who do not want to vaccinate their children love them? I would not want to see my son suffering and dying of an easy preventable disease. I know that not vaccinating is a personal choice and there will probably be risks involved, but this is really stupid. I think it should be mandatory. At the very least, these people must pay more health insurance and childcare / school fees. I would also like to know if there are children at the nursery that have not been vaccinated.
