Anti-vaxxer conspiracies have continued to spread, and because of their beliefs - so have the measles. Oregon and Washington are among eighteen states that allow families to opt out of vaccines for viral diseases based on philosophical beliefs, which is why these areas have been the most recent hotbed for the measles outbreak. More than 50 people have been infected across Southwest Washington state and Northwest Oregon - and everyone is fed up with the anti-vaccination science deniers.

"It's an outbreak because generally, the way we define an outbreak is when you have more observed cases than expected cases. And generally with measles, the expected number is zero," Dr. Alan Melnick with Clark County Public Health told KOIN6 TV in Portland, Oregon, last week. "You know, we have a very effective vaccine for measles. Two shots are 97 percent effective. We really shouldn't be seeing measles." Many anti-vaxxers use the possibility of having an autistic child as one of their debate points - but this autistic person had a counterpoint.

This one I fully concure with. I'm autistic to and not an idiot. During my life I've been headhunted by companies, worked around the world, studied years at university, experienced things few have, been in love , had my heart broken, etc. Yet theese idiots seem to think that I would be better of dead than live my life.

It's still bullshit, but to be completely fair, washing your hands properly does make a huge difference, and there actually are kids with weak immune systems and lots of allergies because they are raised in a bubble.

.... vaccinatons lower your immune system??? How? Because it doesn't have to fight measles as hard?? I don't get it.

Aunt Messy

Vaccines actually BOOST your immune system. Vaccination introduces your immune system to nasty things and primes it to fight those nasties when you encounter them. Antivaxxers are morons.

Basically, what matters is boosting your immune system. Scrapping hand sanitizer does, so does going outside for a walk, eating yoghurt, breastfeeding, giving your girlfriend head and... vaccination!

Do anti-vaxxers not believe in soap too? A lot of soap has the same ingredients as hand sanitizer and what about the water? Do they wash in bottled water? Tap water has extra stuff in it. Wow I can't imagine how delusional of a world they must live in.

Some people simply possess the talent to find, among the billions of sources, precisely the ones that have 0% real information, while completely ignoring the actual information bombarding them from all directions. These branches of people's population are truly marvellous simply because they actually came to be. What I'm trying to say is that they are so remarkably stubborn, it's a miracle they didn't oppose evolution when they were still protozoans. My grandmother is a perfect example of this kind of people. She never wants to change, even if it's for the better. She's stubborn, narrow-minded, believes in reptilians(snake-like creatures that can turn into famous people in order to rule the planet. I know you are like "What!?", but some people do believe in this crap), that the Moon's a hologram and also doesn't believe in evolution. And I can't believe we are relatives.

There's no such thing as Organic. It is a term that is not regulated by the FDA. We all know what it's supposed to mean, but there is no way to ensure it's being followed. Don't pay double the price just because someone slapped a new word on it.

Do they know the meaning of an antibody? It is what protects you from a virus. If you want to experience the full effect of these viruses, or force your children to experience them, then you can expect Medieval consequences. Tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), small pox, measles, polio. My God, we have come so far, and this faction is trying to re-establish these scourges in our time. They are trying to kill the rest of us with their "naturalistic ways". My father was a toxicologist, who told us to get outside and get dirty as much as we could to build up our immunity to viruses, but always had us immunized. There are some viruses you cannot fight safely just by exposure, as the death toll is too high.

I was on the front line of receiving the polio vaccine (yes, I am that old.) They brought trays of sugar cubes through our elementary class, and made us take one. It was pink. I had a friend in high school of the same age, who had a wasted leg in a brace because she contracted polio before the vaccine. Her father was a physician. There is no filter for diseases like these. All are vulnerable.

And it doesn't "lower" your immune system. It very emphatically "raises" your immune system. That is the definition of a vaccine.

Really?? Then explain this: At Valley Forge 10,000 of the 12,000 encamped there survived through a tough winter despite having no vaccinations at their disposal and while being inadequately clothed in many cases. Today WITH vaxxinations a group that size would be wiped out. So this notion that without vaxxines early generations died off is a blinkered concept at best.

Before fire age, people was eating only raw food and all died with perfect teeth. At 35 years old maximum. Then fire age came, cooked food and dental caries came, as well as with dentists. Unfortunately no such invention could avoid the born of attorneys, despite something we must put on fire in order to cook food.

Actually, IF they survived their first year of live - about 30-35% did not - they died with their teeth worn down to nothing because they were constantly chewing things that were not only raw, but rough. Try again.

( Please read all of this) Not everyone died of small pox, it was the white Europeans in Europe with their filthy ways like not bathing, eating with their hands, not washing or cleaning anything, eating raw and under cooked food that caused them to die of small pox. Rarely to never has their been a disease out break in Africa because the Africans were sanitary, bathed themselves, eat properly, cooked their food properly, and washed their hands before they ate as well. And don't go using Ebola as a mass disease out break Ebola was put in Africa on purpose. Its a genocidal disease placed to kill off black people in Africa, which is why they have not made a cure for it.
