The Apuseni mountains are the dearest of all the mountains in Romania for me, they are not the most spectacular, but I like that here I have always found very photogenic places with a different atmosphere. Especially the hidden treasures that I spent hundreds of hours searching for on the internet and old maps so that I could bring them to the surface. I found things that have been untouched for decades, on which the dust and spiderwebs have settled. In some houses, things were left as though the owners had to return home from at any moment.

I wonder how old those frescoes are. They are incredible, and it's a shame they will probably fall to disrepair ..
what a stunning photo: the church, possibly the parsonage, the graveyard. there was a story here...
Is that a wedding ring in front of the hat? And also is that a German hat?
Some of these places look like they should be part of museums to preserve them. Absolutely beautiful.
Canada has almost nothing that's abandoned. I'd love to come across something wonderful like this. I think you really captured what these places are all about.

Cristian Lipovan Thank you so much for this glimpse of the place where my favorite 'Big Romanian Bear' came from. I refer to Jacques Sandalescu; author, actor, coffee house owner, karate master. His books may interest you; in 'Donbas' he tells of his abduction at 16 to slave in the Russian coal mines. 'Hunger s Rogues' details the quest for food in post WW2 Europe. Did you see him in 'Moscow on the Hudson'?
