Most of us reach a point in our lives where we don’t date for fun. We date with a purpose to build something promising. The problem is we tend to mistake a season for a lifetime when it comes to relationships. How can we really be sure if the person we’re with is serious about settling down? There are signs a man will show you early on and throughout the relationship that will let you know whether he will ever settle down with you or you’re just someone for the meantime. He may not directly say it but he will leave a trail of signs, it is up to you to see it for what it is and not try to paint a different picture.

1. HE HATES LABELS

A man that wants you will claim you as his. Don’t allow him to hit you with “Let’s take it slow, see where it goes” and then 6 months later he’s still singing the same song. That’s a clear sign you are not someone he sees a future with.

2. COMMITMENT

The wrong man wants to “play house.” He wants to be in a relationship but doesn’t want to spend time with you. He wants to sleep with you but doesn’t want to commit to you. He wants all the benefits without any of the responsibility.

3. IMMATURE

Commitment isn’t just about settling down. It’s also about understanding that relationships take compromising. If he’s still acting childish you have to come to the realization that settling down is probably not in the books for him right now.

4. NO FUTURE TALKS

If he becomes really hostile when you talk about the future and the relationship that is a really bad sign. He gets mad when you question him about the future or ask him about future plans.

5. YOU CAN’T BE YOURSELF

Healthy couples are able to be themselves around each other. You shouldn’t have to feel like you can’t say or do certain things around him, and he shouldn’t feel like he can’t be himself either. So if you’re not able to be your true self around him, and you sense that he has to wear a “mask” rather than be his true self around you, that’s a big obstacle standing in your way between you and the commitment you’re looking for.
