Mom Lists 27 Things She Wishes She Knew Before Having Kids, And Parents Are Applauding Her
If there’s anything we can be sure of about parenting, it’s that it has quite the learning curve. It seems you’re reading all the books, attending all the classes, then your child comes into this world and you still have more questions than answers.
To give first-time moms and dads a better understanding of the everyday problems that are about to happen, Casey Huff has just shared all the things she wished she knew before becoming a mom. From googling your kid’s “symptoms” to feeling guilty after an inevitable mistake, parents from all over the internet really applauded Casey’s parenting tips talking about the realities of raising kids.
“Motherhood has given me a purpose I didn’t know I had,” Casey told Bored Panda. “There’s something really humbling about having little kids who depend on you for everything, and it’s really put into perspective the things that really matter in life.

As you might’ve understood from Casey’s parenting hacks post, there are moments when things simply don’t go the way you’d want them to. That’s OK. “If you’re at a low point and can’t physically take a break from raising your kids, find other ways to take a step back,” the mom advised. “Cancel a few activities you have planned. Have your kids take more independent time (even if it means turning on the TV for a bit longer than usual) for themselves so that you can find a few minutes of quiet for yourself. Wake up thirty minutes earlier to get a slower start to the day. Any way you can think of to find a few extra minutes of calm and quiet… Do it. It’s good for your mind, heart, and soul, and in return, it’s good for your kids!”
“We’re all in this together,” she added. “We all parent a little differently (which is okay), but we all need to step up and support one another. Being a mom is hard, but knowing someone has our back makes all the difference.”
I am a father of two and I agree... But you will never find any photo of me, my wife or our children on social media
Wow, I thought I was the only person who doesn't put pictures of my child on social media! I always feel like an outcast when I ask people not to put pictures of my child on the internet.
I think the post is clear about judgement. So no pictures is fine too. It's more about the people that feel the need to comment to not bother them. There's personalization for that. For me personally I share only pictures with actual close friends and family. Because I'm proud of my kids and want to show it to people who love them and me. Social media can be used in so many great ways too.
You have the right idea that it is a private group of family & close friends & I'm sure that's what is implied in the post.
100% agree, as a grandma now I never post my grandsons without permission from their parents and even then I ask rarely. I post my fur baby instead lol
It's about security and privacy. Correct.
I agree 100%
I think we all thought that it was cute and pretty safe to that and years later, we all know better. I respect YouTubers and celebrities that don't post images of their children all of the internet.
For those people who do post pictures of their children on social media, be very careful. There are actually criminals who make their money looking for and IDing children's locations from social media and selling that info. That being said, I do love to see pictures of my friends kids and grandkids...
Good for you? She never said you *had* to so I’m not sure what your point is. Usually people are shamed for posting not for not posting, so you sound kind of like you’re bragging.
Bragging? Me? :-).... I just said that I would never post photos of my children on social media. That's all.
I agree with all statements, except no. 7. This statement is only true within certain limits. Sometimes it’s not enough for parents to have the best intentions. There are some rare cases where parents refused medical treatment of their children because of religious or any other believes, resulting in the death of children. There was at least one case in the US where a little child died because of the raw vegan diet the parents imposed on that child.
Yes, number 28 should be vaccinate your child! You do not want them to suffer from diseases that can be avoided!!
Very good point!
Agreed. You can have the best intentions in the world and still end up with horrible results. Don't be stupid. Ignorance is one thing, and it isn't wrong. Just means that you don't know something yet. But stupidity? That's a choice. It's a wilful denial of facts that don't fit your worldview. You can change yourself, but you cannot change reality, and one way or another reality always wins.
Don't forget, those people aren't out for their child's best interests, but puffing their own 'beliefs'. (As in, of course I know better about ----- than a nutritionist, doctor, etc.)
I agree, a RAW vegan diet is extreme; but whole plant-based (vegan) diet is not. Seek facts. Be teachable to either strengthen or abandon your believes.
This! I've heard parents say that they don't read parenting books and that they just go on instinct. I've also heard from a friend that they knew a parent would hold their baby over a gas stove with a burner open (not lit!) to help the baby go to sleep. Instinct, eh?
Is this really true, Paul? What happened? Did this house blow up in explosion, or did the whole family die of carbon monoxide poisoning?
Rule #1: do not listen to advice on social media.
Why can't I double upvote this comment. The irony is that it's advice given on social media about taking advice from social media.
I upvote for you :-)
... and you have An Opinion about that... ;-)
