From the 1st of March Malaysian artist Hong Yi started playing with her food – each day she creates a beautiful piece of art in her plate made entirely out of food. The artist that also goes by the name “Red” is going to create 31 pieces by month’s end. You can follow her project on Instagram.

Portrait Made of 750 Pairs of Socks

Shanghai-based artist Hong Yi, also known as Red, used 750 pair of socks to create a rather unusual sock portrait of famous Chinese film director Zhang Yimou. Yi, which is famous for her Coffee Stain Portrait, spent over three weeks on the project and used black, white and grey socks.

Inspired by the song of Jay Chou, Shanghai-based artist Hong Yi decided to create his portrait using nothing but Nescafe coffee stains on the bottom of a mug. Yi says that it was “a tricky medium to use – too much water and the rings wouldn’t form easily, very little water and you’d have to be precise with where you place the cup coz the rings would pretty much be permanent.”
