A Squid Listening to Cypress Hill

Fascinated by the fast color-changing nature of the squid’s skin, Tim and Greg from Backyard Brains connected an iPod nano to the squid’s fin nerve and played “Insane in the Brain” by Cypress Hill.

“The results were both interesting and beautiful.”

Backyard Brains explain that squids (like many other cephalopods) can quickly control pigmented cells called chromatophores to reflect light. The Longfin Inshore has 3 different chromatophore colors: Brown, Red, and Yellow.

The video below is a view through an 8x microscope zoomed in on the dorsal side of the fin.

STOP WHINING ABOUT THE GOD DAMN SQUID.
every post in here is about the poor poor thing… well, if you had taken 5 minutes to look into the subject, you would have found out that the SQUID WAS ALREADY DEAD BY THE TIME THEY CONDUCTED THE EXPERIMENT.
Now, please, stop being irrational and enjoy the extremely cool experiment.
