Ligers: A Beginners Guide

The liger is a hybrid cross between a male lion and a female tiger. Therefore it has parents with the same genus, but of different species. It is different from a tigon, which is the opposite, a cross between a lioness and a male tiger. Did you know that the liger is the largest big cat?

Ligers take their personalities from both lions and tigers, so, they enjoy swimming like tigers but are very sociable like lions. Ligers only exist in captivity because they would not usually mate in the wild.
