4-Year-Old Feels Lonely In Quarantine, Sets Up A Fairy Garden, Her Neighbor Notices And Pretends To Be A Fairy Named Sapphire For 9 Months
During these stressful times, we could all use a heartwarming story about a little girl who still believes in fairytales, magic, and fairies. Kelly Victoria—a photographer based in LA, California—thought the same when she decided to share how she and her 4-year-old neighbor created a beautiful bond. It all started at the beginning of the pandemic when Kelly stumbled upon a fairy garden set up by a tree one night, and decided to brighten up a young girl’s day. The gorgeous fairy garden had a little note attached about a girl who felt lonely in quarantine and “wanted to spread some cheer.” Not only did she spread cheer to her neighbors on her street, but to more than 390k people on Twitter, as well.
“What a beautiful story,” someone tweeted. “Given our current universal tragedy, your personal struggles, and that little girl’s struggles with the pandemic, it is an uplifting tale.” Soon enough, the beautiful thread about a fairy named Sapphire spread onto other social media platforms, including Imgur. “This child will remember this forever,” someone commented. “And one day she will realize it was a human who did this for her and will be both sad and grateful.”

I'm a grown up who doesn't believe in fairy tales. Yet somehow I strongly believe Sapphire isn't a fairy, but an angel in disguise.
this is so lovely. When I was a little kid, my sister would pretend to be a fairy & write me letters & leave them under my pillow when my tooth fell out. I started writing letters to the fairy & left them in my dolls house overnight & she would write back. One time I wrote a letter & my sister didn't know I had so when I checked the next morning, there was no reply & i got really upset. The next night my sister wrote me this long letter with a picture cut from a magazine of the fairies "cat" called Midnight. I can't remember how it fazed out but i remember totally believing it & the magic it held so this is really special.
Oh man, a kid in my area built a fairy garden too! It's right near my workplace, hidden in some trees with a little sign saying "Fairy Forest". :D
my neighborhood has a fairy garden that a couple set up for kids 😊 people leave pebbles and toys and it is always so fun when they decorate for holidays! one year they had zombie finger puppets in the garden 😋
Load More Replies...This is the best post ever! I would LOVE for somebody to do this to me! The world needs hope, and this lady just restored it. I need to hug her too :)
OML I'M CRYING NOW 😢 THERE NEEDS TO BE MORE PEOPLE SO AMAZING LIKE HER 😭
Awwww This is Amazing and Kind I wish I could do this cuz it is soooo CUTE 🥰
One thing I learned, was about the condition Synesthesia. It is fascinating and has helped explain things I have experienced since childhood. When I see people getting injured, I feel it myself. Real physical pain. Now I know I am not alone. Not only was this post spirit lifting but informative as well. Thank you Sapphire.
That was really beautiful. One day Eliana will realize it was all pretend but she'll never ever forget that someone went out of their way to make a magical memory for her.
These darn allergies....so sweet! Now I want to start a fairy garden with my daughter!
I saw this story on CBS Sunday morning I’m so sad they cut the Croft so short there
They both have synesthesia! They truly are magical creatures. Their friendship was so precious. Great mom too.
Sapphire, you are one amazing Fairy. Thank you for making Eliana days wonderful through these hard times. This made me feel so good to know there are " Fairies " among us. Merry Christmas and may GOD Bless you always.
This is adorable and amazing and Sapphire is officially the best person/fairy in the universe I love it so much this is so beautiful. Everyone needs to be a fairy for someone in these hard times. Luv ya Sapphire 💖💖💖
That's nice that a four yr. Old brought out the kindness of a stranger that made both of them feel like there is still hope in the world and to never give up hope. Nice to know that this four year old gave love and hope to any one who reads this Thank you
Miss Kelly, you are truly a saint... er a fairy! What an amazing thing you did for this little lady. She will remember this for the rest of her life. I hope sometime you'll get to meet again in say... 20 years or so. Just awesome!
When I was barely three years old, my parents took me with them to Florida where we stayed for several months. Over that time I got to know the woman who lived across the street. When we returned home, the neighbour woman sent me a multi-page printed letter which was a little story about a little girl who was friends with a cat. The little girl was me and the cat was the woman's cat, Buzz. I still have that letter and the photos she used to tell the story. I remember her name and that she worked as a newspaper reporter. And that was 70 years ago! The little girl will treasure Sapphire for the rest of her life. I speak from experience.
Thank you , you made Lockdown so very special for one little girl and helped her get through moving away from her very special Fairy friend. I am sure you will always be best friends forever, children have very good memories and keep the best ones forever xxx <3 <3
This reminds me of a boy who brought his plastic dinosaurs to the park near a walking path and people kept adding to the group. The park maintenance put a little fence around it so the riding towers wouldn't run it over. Park maintenance posted a note on the tree asking if anyone could take home the toys for the snowy winter and bring them back in spring, and that's what happened.
What a wonderful relationship they have, and a beautifully told story!! Very, very moving! I loved this. :)
👏🏻Very creative. This may be a fave hobby of hers soon, if it’s not already.👌🏻
There was a great This American Life (ages ago) where a little girl had read The Borrowers and her dad pretended to be them and left her little notes. It didn't go well when she found out, but it was a good story.
they're not tho... if you just look, each author has their different quirks and styles
