Racist Woman Blocks Black Man From Entering His Own Luxury Apartment, Gets The Lesson Of A Lifetime
980Kviews
After a ‘great’ example of white fragility known as BBQ Becky comes, sadly, Debbie Doorway. The latest discrimination example of a white woman calling the police on people of color for simply going about their daily business has gone viral, and it’s just as ugly as you’d expect.
The woman, who we have chosen not to name, confronted D’Arreion Toles as he tried to enter the building that they share in St. Louis, Missouri. Claiming that she felt ‘uncomfortable’ with D’Arreion entering the building, she proceeded to block him while demanding to know his name and which apartment he lived in.
The incident was captured on video by D’Arreion himself and has since gone viral after he shared it with this message: “To be a black man in America and come home. A woman tries to stop me from coming into my building because she feels insecure, Downtown St. Louis luxury loft, because she doesn’t feel that I belong, never really thought this would happen to me, but it did! Then 30 mins later police knock on my door because she called! I was shocked this is racism in America in 2018!”
Soon after the obvious racial discrimination video went viral the internet tracked down the woman and exposed her identity, leading to her losing her job. D’Arreion, while shocked and upset to be treated in such a way, doesn’t want a witch hunt, however. “Don’t bash the woman, just send her positive waves of energy,” he wrote. “Let’s be great people, this is our world, and this message is to everyone of all ages/ races/ colors/! We only get one life so let’s make the most of it and be great, no time for being rude people!”
Scroll down below to see how it all unfolded for yourself, and let us know in the comments what you think about racism being well and alive.
This is D’Arreion Toles, from Chicago but living in St. Louis, Missouri. He recently had a shocking experience that he decided to share
He captured the whole episode on camera
He posted the videos on Facebook, where they went viral and were viewed by over 1 million people
After he shared the videos, many people jumped to his defense
He was more than surprised by the response
The woman ended up losing her job, after the internet exposed her identity to the world

Who does she think she is? She's not security. No-one has to answer to her for coming into a building even if they don't live there. His patience is remarkable. Mine would not have been. She must have lied to the police to get them to attend a man politely ignoring her questions and then peacefully entering his own apartment. Disgusting behaviour and yet she seriously cannot see what she did wrong.
I agree that noone has to explain themselves to anyone upon entering a building, but apartment thefts do happen and we all should remain cautios. If someone acts suspicious (of course not the case here - he was clear he lived there, had keys etc) contact authorities. Don't ever take matters in your own hands, because if that person happens to be a burglair, you might end up in a very bad place.
If she was worried about being cautious, she would have not rode in an elevator with an unknown man. It started off as racism. Why is this black man in this cool apartment building that I pay for? Then she couldn’t back out of it
Right. Someone being shady would not have been so cool, calm and collected as he was.

If you are following someone into a building, you damn right have to prove who you are, especially if you don't have a fob for the keypad. She had every right to stop him. This had nothing to do with race. You people (yes I said you people, as in all of you people, not just black people in general) pull that fcking race card way too fcking much.
Boredpanda has chosen not to name her...I haven’t. It’s Hilary Brooke Thornton. This took place in Missouri.
Thank you, I thought it was Amy Schumer. Lol
Whooo thank you... And google was kind enough to let me know that she was fired GOOD... now she wont be able to afford her rent and he will be free to come and go as he pleases.
Do you think she seemed drunk though? Not an excuse obviously but I felt her words were slurred and her eyes were unfocused. I started watching this with an open mind. Some of these video titles are exaggerated. This one made me so angry though. When he got passed her and she said "Are you hitting me?" my blood boiled. Fair play to him though. He kept his cool when I probably wouldn't have.
I think she said, “Are you kidding me,” not “hitting me.”
being drunk is not an excuse for being a damn bigot. If Mel Gibson can't get away with it neither can this cow.

She's the apartmant nazi. "No apartment for you - two weeks!!" What a fitte!
Derek Rougeau he DID have a fob and you are a knob.
Just a thought, what if a black police man showed up !!!
Am I the only one wondering why it is that someone so "terrified" of having a black man in her building felt free to not only follow him around yammering at him, she actually made body contact while trying to block his way to the door? ...///... What does that tell us?
That she wasn't remotely frightened of him so she has NO justifications for her actions.
I'd be willing to bet she knew damned well he lived there and just wanted to be disagreeable.

See above.
I wouldn't follow someone I was scared of. Her pretending to want to know him at the end was pathetic.

Once she realized he wasn't a real threat she tried to be nice again. I wouldn't have been. I would have made sure that door shut on anyone in a big city who doesn't have a key fob.
Exactly. If a women is afraid of a men, she never ever gets in an elevator with him.
Idk ladies did you see how polite he was? How he kept his tone even? How he SEEMED to be doing absolutely nothing wrong? That can be very scary for a racist entitled b****. Had she let her guard down for even a second he might have respectfully called her ma'am again. Cant be too safe! *eye roll*
He can't push back. That's how black men get killed in this society. Parents have to teach their black sons NEVER to resist, even if it means letting someone harm them because everyone is going to see them as being in the wrong. This is an ugly, racist culture. He stayed calm because of long practice.
He didn't even try to push past her. A decent person... No wonder she didn't recognise him!
Thank you for saying that Aunt Messy. That's what I always think about when I see these videos - of course the people being accused are being overly polite, they don't want to give anyone a reason to shoot them.
That she is just a bigoted bully who thinks she has the right to do this. With a president who condones and supports this shit...no wonder!
Yes, with a president showing the example of being a racist, how are parents able to teach their children, also, It is amazing this continues in this century !!!
AND she got in an elevator with someone she didn't feel 'safe' around? Seriously....gah!
I had the same thoughts. She acted like a bully not someone afraid of an invader. To get into an elevator alone with someone who you believed was a threat is the ultimate foolishness, thus one could surmise that she was stupid on all accounts. Makes me sick. Racism isn't just in the person, but starts with the family and upbringing. To stop it, we need to ensure as parents we aren't teaching it at home. I see racism blacks against whites, native American against white, as much as whites against other races. We all need to do our part. Pat on his back for keeping his patience and not reacting. Not sure I could have done that.
we're not all parents though
Came here to say the same thing, only you did it better--and the KEY excuse. Obv if he 'didn't belong" he'd not have had a key too enter his OWN apartment.
He opened the door with a key and she called the police? Really??
EXACTLY! She wasnt "scared"! She is a f**king snob!!
This was my very first thought. She was just as “afraid” as all those police officers who claim to need to shoot people because of “fearing for their lives”.
and she ALONE got into the elevator with him. OH PLEASE LADY. Frick you
And get into an elevator alone with someone they stated that they were uncomfortable with? Nah, she was harassing him.

I don't believe she was afraid of him. I believe she was concerned that he tried to enter a secure building as she opened the door instead of using the keypad. She specifically asks him to use the keypad early in the video. I don't think this one is a race issue. I think if he had just let the door close and used the keypad to access the building, they all could have gone on their merry way.
If you don't think this is about race, then you're an idiot. If a white man the same age had done the same thing, she'd have been hitting on him and asking him to come over to her place.
She was blocking the door either way - couldn't open, couldn't close. Yes, he could have said, "Just close the door" and waited until she moved to open it again himself, but she was acting weird herself.
Okay - let's say that all of the same things happen but he's white. Does she still call the police? I really don't think so. What reason is there for calling the police? It's because she didn't think he belonged even with the key - I expect she thought he'd obtained the key to that apartment in some illegal way.

Is that what you would have done, Aunt Messy? You have no idea how this woman would have behaved had the man been white and done the same thing. He bypassed the security feature and, therefore, she had reason to be concerned.

Alex, I don't care what color you are, if you try to enter a secure apartment building by trying to go through when somebody else opens it instead of using the keypad, I would be calling security or the police. I wouldn't block the door, like this silly woman did, but bypassing the security feature is a concern regardless of color.

Are we only getting black people to comment? Who says she is rasist and wouldn't have had a fear of just anyone coming off the street that she evidently didn't see using "The usual channels" whatever let youmin in the first place and a key pad whick most would hav ebeen O>K> with showing her. She was pretty snoopy, but any race could have been a predator (i.e. Ted Bundy)So I think she was also brave. and that he was racially "baiting" her to keep questioning him.
OF COURSE---We always have to have "that one" white guy that is an apologist and blames the black dude..."racially baiting her"? He was trying TO GO HOME. Nothing more. It is pathetic when you can catch something THIS wrong and obvious on video....and we STILL have certain people lauding her and criticizing the guy. Unbelievable and shameful.
Um...I'm fish belly white. I'm so pale I don't even have freckles. Also, I'm blond with green eyes. Questions?
The cops should have arrested her for wasting their time!
Yes!
Boredpanda has chosen not to name her...I haven’t. It’s Hilary Brooke Thornton. This took place in Missouri.
Absolutely! I want to know when this is going to start happening? Because you never hear 'XXX racist arrested for falsely calling 911 on innocent black XXX'!
I guarantee if black people did this kind of shit they'd be arrested right away.
I'd add any other color that is not white did this they would be arrested and jailed for 20 years.
No, they'd be threatened and possibly harmed.
sadly maswartz, I think you're right. I think she is clearly racist , not afraid at all, or why get in the lift with him? she's an idiot and was shown up for it !
She definitely lied to the police to get them there, and that IS agains the law. This guy is being way too nice saying he won’t take any action against her. Its great he forgives her, but there needs to be consequences for this type of stuff or it continues. Yes she lost her job, but the way she and others like her are using and lying to the police to harass people needs to be stopped.
3 questions: First, why did she think that he didn't have a key? Second, what did she say to the police, that made them come? 3rd and finally: WTF?
Well, she'll have lied. How can the police justify coming out to the truth 'a polite man came into the building I live in, said he lived there and proved it when I followed him and saw him let himself into his apartment and he even gave me his name'... She seriously lied.
I wonder what she thought would happen. She's had to have seen all the news about white people calling the police on black people for no reason and realize there would be public backlash for her actions.
@Kiki - I know what you mean. Doesn't she get that just about everyone carries around a nifty telephonic device that also works as a camera that can upload videos to the WHOLE PLANET? ...///... I'm forced to conclude that these people are just stupid. They're idiots. They're so self-absorbed that other people don't exist for them, and they're too thick to get it.
@Aunt Messy - I agree they are simply idiots. They are not only idiots they are also racists. I mean Idiot Racist did voted Liar in Chief in.
Worst part of the story is that the police actually did come knocking on his door. How? "Police, a black man just entered my appartment building and then he entered his own appartment with a key. And he even didn't answer all my questions even though I'm a white woman." "We'll be right over , Ma'am."
I don't know if I think that is the worst part - she probably lied to get the police to come out. Hard to know without them saying as she's not going to admit it. Her belief that he doesn't have a right to be in that building is the worst thing for me.
That's the worst thing for me as well. Her actions, not the police as we don't know what they were told.
She probably lied about suspicious stranger who acts like thief/intruder etc.
Totally agree! What's to check? He had a key! But she had no business, blocking him, questioning him, following him to begin with!
Yes, I didn't get that part either!!!

Umm, that lady is married to an African American man herself. That and the fact that she said nothing to even indicate racist intents would seem proof that her motives where something else. According to interviews she has later given the occupants of the condo are instructed not to let anyone without the key in.
Her being married to an African American man doesn't mean she doesn't have a particular view. Some men are absolute sexist morons but they still marry women. It doesn't prove a thing. Condo boards should not instruct people to act as security. It's sounds like a reasonable idea but in practice could be very dangerous. If someone is there to get into the building for the wrong reasons then they'll manage it, challenged or not! If someone has genuine concerns and not just that the person doesn't look like they fit then they can call security or the police. The fact that she called the police AFTER he let himself into his own apartment with his own key and gave her his name is the give-away here - what possible justification did she have at this point?

She told the police that he tried to choke her
Hell, did she? That's terrible! All the more reason for her being charged with wasting police time. I couldn't find that information anywhere else though - where did you find it?
Tut, tut, sleepy panda. She didn't say that. She told the police she felt uncomfortable and that she did not know if he was a tenant.
Really jamie? where did you find this information? screenshot or it didnt happen? cos if she accused him of physical assault, he would have been questioned not just knocking on his door.

She most definitely lied about the situation. She is mentally ill, of that I can assure. They should have taken her to a hospital for a psych eval
She gave absolutely no signs whatsoever of being mentally ill. FFS - why on earth do people keep making that excuse?
the dog would like to be adopted by a non-racist person
OH, yes, the dog would say if it could, non racist only please I beg you !!!
She is so afraid that she gets int an elevator with the man who frightens her so much? wow
I KNOW RIGHT?
I went to visit my parents at their nursing home on a bright sunny Saturday morning. A middle aged white woman came to me while I was waiting in the lobby and asked if I knew the African American teen aged boy over there. Nope. "Well, he's just waiting here." So am I. (also a white middle aged woman0 "I'm uncomfortable. I didn't want to come in." I'm sure he's here to visit someone. "Well, I work downtown, so I know. You have to be careful." You have to get away from me. Take your crazy over there. We are not together. She went to find a staff member, who, at the time was busy directing this kid to where he could do his volunteer hours and made her wait. My sister came in and the woman tried to tell her the same crap about being "scared to come in because she works downtown." My sister told her to kick rocks. I'm sure the lady spent the next five days bragging about her hyper alert sensibilities.
That's as good as the pizza delivery gal that caught a customer lying to her party guests about the how she thought that "The pizza delivery boy tried to steal $40 from us." Turned out it was a five dollar tip that her adult son said she could keep and that the delivery person was the woman standing at their door, not a man. She said her satisfaction came as the door closed when the accusers father turned to this insane woman and said, in front of all the guest.."It was a woman you dipsh*t!"
She was fired, and rightly so, from The Tribeca-STL which "is a minority-owned company that consists of employees and residents from many racial backgrounds. We are proud of this fact and do not and never will stand for racism or racial profiling at our company." The racist woman bears full responsibility for the consequences of her disgusting actions. No one else, just her.
I'm sure there are homophobic and/or racist companies that are now able to deny services to others who will be happy to hire her. I hope they stew in their own juices.
Hahahaha. Awesome. Amazing!
So glad to still be shocked at the level of outrageous disrespect coming from this person. In awe of D'Arreion's peaceful representation, I definitely would have told her where to go....
If she was so concerned, why did she get on an empty elevator with him? People are morons.
And even after following the guy, watching him use a key to get in, she still called the cops? For what? To be honest, I wouldn't be able to be so patient and calm like that guy. I think I would just tell her I'd be the one calling the cops for keeping me out of my appartment. :P
She didn't like not getting her own way so called the police thinking she'd get some kind of revenge. Nasty thing to do.
I think a complaint about this woman to the owners of the complex would have been a good start. She can't harass other tenants.
OMG I'm so tired of racist aholes.
WTF? She obviously thinks a black man can't be rich and thus can't live there (or visit anyone living there). Even if she is that racist, she could have just left him alone and called the police if she really wants but no, she had to follow him, block his way, try to interrogate him and even after he entered with his own key she called the cops, and probably lied to them to get them to come. Again: WTF? Also: I'm admiring him for keeping his cool, I'm not sure I would be that patient, or so forgiving for that matter.
Those who chose ignorance and divisiveness are emboldened by our current political mess. Her actions and ways are unacceptable and this young man didn't react in a way that would've validated her assumptions. He stayed calm and went about his business. Just remember that not all white people are like this. To most, I hope, of us people are people who all equals. The narrative fed to exploit these people's fears of being outnumbered where their so called friends give them honest opinion journalism is as much to blame, if not more, than the Cheeto emporer himself. Racial predjudice is wrong no matter what color it comes from.
i guarantee you, she acted and treated people this way before the trumpster, and there will be people like her afterwards. They are evolving out thanks god. I think it will be another 50 years for it to to be noticeable.
That's what everyone said 50 years ago.
I remember my friend T explaining getting ripped off at the bus station and I said he should've made a scene, then he explained that black men can't kick off in public as people get scared. Really ridiculous nowadays.
At first I thought that maybe (maybe!) this wasn't racially motivated. People who live in apartments *do* have the responsibility not to let someone follow them in, because the doors inside are not very secure. So you need to make sure the outer door closes all the way and the next person, if they live there, can let themselves in with their own key. By the sounds of it, she legitimately thought that he hadn't let himself in, so that's a cause for concern. He was smart not to tell her which unit he was in, because who knows what she might do with that information. But she didn't raise or voice or insult him (that shouldn't be unusual, but it is) so I'm confused why he didn't just show her his key fob. But he knew the name of the security guard, and she kept insisting she "wanted to know who he was visitting" which showed she didn't really think he could live there as he said. And then after she saw him let himself in, she called the cops. WTF?
I'm in the UK and here flats/apartments are legally required to have fire doors which, in theory, are harder to break in. Plus, communal doors often have trades or services buttons on the intercom that unlocks the door directly to allow deliveries or tradespeople in during day time hours. So we can't trust the communal door to be the most secure point.
Fair. In my building that's how it was - flimsy wooden one-lock doors to each apartment, a much more secure one to the outdoors. I shouldn't assume that that's how it is everywhere. I was trying not to assume the worst of her and honestly I still don't think she's as bad as most of these other horrible videos of racists. But she does deserve to have her attitude called out and shown as unacceptable.
Flimsy wooden one-lock doors would make me very nervous! Who is to say that everyone who lives IN the building is harmless?? Did it worry you? Hope you are living somewhere with lovely strong doors now.
Yeah. We also got lots of drunks/etc who would just hit all the call buttons until someone buzzed them in without asking any questions. Very glad to say I'm living in a safer place now.

My thoughts as well, I didn't see anything overtly racist, but these situations are always a bit tricky because sometimes the situation only seems to be labeled as "racist" when a white person is negatively interacting with a black person, which in itself is not racism. If she was motivated by his race to question and follow him, I'd still say its still not "racism" so much as its acting on stereotypes and prejudices because she would be assuming a black person doesn't have the means to live in a more up-scale apartment building. These situations are rarely clear-cut unless the person is clearly expressing racist epithets. Its important to take all perspectives into consideration when judging a situation.
SERIOUSLY? You write ‘if she was motivated by his race to question and follow him, I'd still say it’s still not "racism" so much as its acting on stereotypes and prejudices because she would be assuming a black person doesn't have the means to live in a more up-scale apartment building’. This absolutely is racism. Prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior - OR as you put it ‘doesn’t have the means to live in an ‘up-scale’ apartment building’. Good grief!!
getting into his apartment would be a Big sign he lives there, hearing about this in the early 1900s pissed me off. in this day and age black people shouldnt be feeling the way their ancestors and grandparents did.
That pos called the police on a black man and probably lied about why. He could have bwen killes on sight. So effing effed up!
If she was afraid for her safety why would she get in the elevator alone with him how stupid is that she a racist a young man should be able to go to his apartment with out being interrogated
Wow, who the hell does she think she is? That was sooo UNCALLED for lady, you should be minding ur own damn business and quit bein a nosy littke b $ t $ h how would u feel if the shoe was on the other foot? You got lucky this young man didnt lose his cool, smdh he in ur building? Lmao like he said you aint the owner you oay rent just like he do so what gives you the right to stalk somebody like this? I think security should if escorted ur a$$ out the buildin its a wrap.
On behalf of middle-aged white ladies who walk little dogs, I apologize and disown this racist twit for her idiot treatment of the gentleman who posted this video.
She's a bit young to be middle-aged. Racist twit I'll totally go with!
Oh my god that is something. Blocking someone from their own house because they are black “and walked in off the street” (How else would you get into a building?) and then being extremely nosy and rude to someone who obviously is just trying to get home.
Every time he does something completely reasonable in the face of her unabashed racism, I love how she acts like HE is the one being completely outrageous.

Sweet jesus you're a pansy.
racism sucks and so does homophobia
I am so upset with this horrible pathetic woman. You are a very patient man. My prayers to you for peace, love and happiness. Your amazing.
this actually made me sick to my stomach. That this guy who was doing NOTHING wrong was treated like a criminal by this lady. He has the patience of a saint, I would not have been able to keep my composure.
I would have called the police when she was bloking the entryway
Exactly arrest her for wasting there time. Racist woman was not frightened at all
This comment is hidden. Click here to view.
If she was frightened of a black man, THAT would make her racist, not protecting hers and HIS property
How is she protecting anything? She doesn't achieve her goal of keeping him out. If someone is there to break in then she would probably have been hurt. Plus being scared is far from being the only reaction that would qualify someone as racist.
This shit breaks my heart. She really should have been charged with harassment/calling police and wasting time. I hope that she changes for the good following this. Mr Toles is clearly an amazing person--I would never have handled a situation like that with so much poise and grace.
in some countrys is neighbour watch, but then must be notice on building
It's also neighbourhood watch and not neighbourhood interrogation. One is reasonable and safe, the other is not.
Neighbourhood watch is better when people don't have guns.
#trayvonmartin
I just feel like if she really felt threatened she wouldn't have stood as close as she was or followed him. If I ever feel scared about anything I leave quickly. Ridiculous.
Looking at the title photo I thought the article will be about some horror movie and sadly I wasn't wrong.
What's weird is that she's shaped exactly like humans, without being in fact one of ours! Such a behaviour is absolutely outrageous.
When he closes his door and she just says 'WOW' she didn't even see what she did wrong!!!
I live in a secure building. If me and someone else gets to the door at the same time, neither of us expects the other to quickly close the door behind themselves to ensure the following person has the correct access. I would be livid if the person in front of me went out of their way to close the door in my face to make sure I "lived there". Also this woman had clear intentions behind her actions
If she truly thought that he didn't *belong* in the building, why didn't she contact Security and let them handle it? They would have confirmed that he was a resident, then she could have STFU. I don't see why she lost her job, tho. Did she work in the building? I would have filed charges of harassment. This young man is being way too nice.
and then she wants to meet him and be his neighbor??? Uh noooo….babye Felicia
so my question is, if she was that concerned with him being there.....why would she get on the elevator with him?
By following him to his door, she was stalking. If she had attempted to restrain his movement in any way, that's potentially kidnapping. Calling the police is filing a false report. She should be in front of a judge.
Racism, pure and simple. If he was afraid, shoe would have run to her apartment and locked the door, called the police. She was not afraid...she followed him in the corridor...ALONE!! RACIST, RACIST!!!! SO GLAD she was outed!!!
Kudos to the man for not engaging her in any way. Admire the patience and resilience. She was already identified and I think she will have a really hard time getting her life together after this. Just one remark though - I know it's not the case here probably, but here we are really suspicious of unfamiliar people entering the apartments hallways. I personally reported someone for getting into the building, but they couldn't prove that the apartment they went for was taken by their friends. I wonder if the case here would escalate like that if the man was white though. Then again - no matter the race, if you see something out of place, contact authorities instead of behaving like she did - it only causes you trouble.
What a vile troll that woman is....I would sue her and then donate the money.
Obviously she wasn't too concerned because she got into an elevator with a man she deemed "suspicious". She wasn't suspicious, she was simply harassing him.
Who the hell made her hall monitor for the building?! Damn. You think she would learn who her neighbors where and get to know and help each other out. But no, she's gotta play neighborhood watch captain likes she's protecting us all from some lurking evil. Damn people. Get involved, but do it respectfully and with some sense of intelligence. Kudos to you sir for your patience and calls for leniency in dealing with her type. Proved who the better person is!
I am so sick of being represented by stupid people. There is nothing that non-stupid white people can say to redeem or help this stupid situation. We can only hope that we can publicly shame these stupid people back into the closet where they belong. I cannot imagine keeping my cool in dealing with this stupid stupid woman. Because I'm a white lady, chances are I wouldn't go to jail. But if this man had RIGHTFULLY lost his cool with her, he could be in jail or dead. What kind of world have we created where this is reality for people every single time they walk out their door. I'M SO FRUSTRATED!
i would have lost my shit seconds into that BS and would have called the owner. flat out, would not care, would have woken his ass up to have him bitch at this dumb lady for doing a job she has no right doing. i have no patience for stupid shit, congrats you live there good for you...you dont belong acting like you can prevent people from walking through that door thats security's job. if security comes up and asks "hey you live here" then he has to show proof of residency but that dumb bitch needs to mind her own business. kinda funny that she lost her job over this. i hope that chick hasnt bred yet, its 2018 this world doesnt need anymore racist ideologies.
I'm glad that karma and/or "justice was served..." however, knowing how the internet works - I wonder how many death threats she's gotten due to the release of this video? (And before I get bashed...)What she did is inexcusable, but like the nosy BBQ Betty or whatever she got called, she did get horrible death threats - for being an a**hat. It was a hard lesson to learn, but I am also willing to bet, she really didn't learn much. Racism is mostly inherited, children learning what they see and hear constantly from their family/friends. Our only hope is that many can follow the young man's advice - and send out those positive thoughts into the world to make it a better place.
I know. They don't deserve death threats. That's just over-reacting. BTW, watch the video that was posted by the woman who was filming BBQ Becky. She was harassing and stalking her. She made *herself* look like a screaming idiot.
OOPPS...If SHE were afraid, she would have gone to her own apartment. Bad keyboard!!!
I cant believe in this day and age there is still such racism. I am sorry this happened to you D"Arreion....not sorry she lost her job. Just look at all the positive posts which shows the majority of people arent hate filled racists.
To all those who defend this woman: Her tone of voice may have been friendly. Her actions were anything but. Actions speak louder than words and her actions just screamed "racist!".
Jealous he lived better than her.
After insulting him and finding out she's made a complete fool of herself she then says she wants to introduce herself? Too little to late bitch, now the whole world knows you're an asshole!
SHe didn’t want to let him in to the building because she “felt uncomfortable” and yet she gets into the elevator with him. This is absolutely disgusting and his book coming more and more common. It makes me embarrassed to be white
This woman appeared to be actually stalking this man and her behaviour would have been quite frightening to me. What is even more disturbing is that she appeared to think she was justified in acting in such a creepy intrusive manner because his skin colour is different than hers. Her poor little dog looked so very anxious and also underfed and thin. I think I would have called the SPCA about that dog!
I just wish he had called the cops while she was harassing him... Would be great, but i can see her trying to pull a martyrdom if he did so - and as I believe she did when her BS escalated and she lost her job
It as they say watch you say to others for it may come back & bite you in the ass.
i give that man so much credit. i don't know if i could have kept that calm.
He was amazingly calm in the face of complete stupidity! Wow, I wish I could be more like him!
Not surprising after all look who is running the Country..."Sad" What a deplorable excuse for a woman. Sir not everyone feels like her so always keep your head held high and ignore people like her as best you can, you are awesome..
What an annoying woman!!!!! pff, I would have not been as patient as him >.>
what a bitch
Disgusting....ruled by fear and insecurity along with a superior self esteem. She should be ashamed of herself.....but with her attitude I am not 100% certain that she feels she has any fault in this. Mr. Toles, you are a true gentleman!
I kind of think she sounded drunk. Which is NO excuse. The look on her face though when he's going to his floor....you know she is thinking "Crap. Maybe he does live here?!" Then she tries to spin it that she wants to meet him. Lady, you were in the wrong and you look absolutely crazy.
Start calling the police on THEM for harassment and stalking, maybe then they'll cut this crap out.
Nope. The police can't do much. He probably has grounds to ask for a restraining order, though, and since restraining orders are public records, that would pretty much screw her for life.
Some White people need to mimd their own business and this is one of them. If the guy was White I wonder if she would have stopped him from entering after she opened the door.
Wow, she is a real ghoul. One of the best things about the internet is that these bigots can be personally exposed. She’s a disgusting coward and deserves any harassment she receives in turn.
As shitty as this was, I don't understand how it was legally possible she lost her job over this behaviour. In most countries political opinions or even harassment are not considered sufficient legal reasons for an employer to fire an employee, unless this behaviour was directed at a customer. Or did she work for the building's owners?
In America we have At-Will employment and an employer can fire someone for almost any reason, including bad behavior outside work.
Thank you for explaining, I didn't know something like at-will emplyoment existed!
@Kiki Not every state is At-Will. But even in those states where it is not present, most employers put in their contracts as a valid reason for termination "Any behavior outside work hours that may reflect poorly on the image of the company." Washington State is not an At-Will state. However when I worked for a Heart Clinic, they had a strict no-smoking policy. I was unaware of this being hired as a temp. So I got called into the office and was told that I either had to sign a contract that said I would not smoke while working for them (even on my own time) or I would have to leave. I needed the job, so I signed it. Actually got away from smoking for several years after the job ended.
loss of trust of an employeer due to questionable / borderline illegal behaviour ? At least where I live, thats a very good reason to terminate employment
she deserved to be fired
It's the American system... that's how in so many US TV shows and movies, people suddenly 'fire' people all the time. Makes for good entertainment value... for sure less entertaining in real life! - Though in this case, I think it was a good thing, definitely! Am from the UK... I imagine if these circumstances occurred, there could have even been a breach of contract that would have led to her being sacked. - Ie, not upholding the values of the company outside work or not representing the values of the company appropriately. Plus, in the UK, spreading racial hatred is illegal; this is akin to that, so could lead to dismissal.
In the US, there are many states that have an At-Will policy of employment. Basically means you can leave for any reason or get fired for any reason...even if that reason is that your boss doesn't like you. As far as this witch getting fired...let's see her afford her luxury apartment with no job. I think this solves both their problems. She can move out and not worry about him entering "her building" and he can be free to get to his apartment without getting accosted by some crazy narcissistic tart with delusions of being a cop.
I don't blame the company for letting her go - I would too in their place. If they left her working, they'd send a clear message that they don't care about political correctness and don't mind her out-of-place unacceptable behaviour. If you work for a company, you do represent them after work, so you should keep in mind that showing racism, being a pervert, animal abuser or human abuser or any other behaviour that crosses social lines might get you unemplyed. We cannot allow people with such vividly displayed inappropirate actions to go unnoticed.
In America, you can have all the political opinions in the world and can feel free to voice them as much as you want, that does not mean people have to hire you or keep you employed. Even when you are off the clock, you are still representing your company. So if you make yourself out to be a racists ass on social media, your bosses could fire you because they don't want to face the financial backlash of having you there. Personally, if I were her boss..I would have fired her too.
She was fired for cause. Keeping her on would damage the image of the company she worked for and they have every right to get rid of her.

she should've had a promotion for securing everybody's houses by not letting a random person in if she did not know if he was a resident or not
Yeeep that's big fat Murica
I am so sorry you were treated this way by this vile woman. You handled yourself with dignity and came across as such a nice respectful young man.
@D’Arreion Nuriyah Toles You’re an amazing young man! We’re ALL outraged at this woman, yet you’ve chosen to stay positive! Please hold on to your great attitude! I have no doubt you’ll help make the world a better, happier place to live! Best of luck!
He has the patience of a saint. This shows what an incredible character he has, I would've lost it at the front door of the block! She was so self-righteous, omg it was disgusting...I wanna know this, I wanna know that and she totally believed she was in the right.
This is more racist and horrible than the time the babysat kids were being babysat by a black person. Segregation may have ended but doesn't mean that people have stopped judging by color!
WTH is wrong w that woman
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! She is an EMBARRASSMENT!!! I would say that racist white bitches should not be allowed to live in polite society! I hope to God she is EXPELLED from the building!!
On behalf of all white people who are not racist, I apologize for her behavior but let it not reflect upon the majority of us who have more than 4 brain cells.
😂😂😂 I am sorry but supidity of that lady make me laught. You are a sympatic man... So I don't understand. I am from meadle Europe so I know what is rasism but this is too much
are these morons intentionally trying to get fired from their jobs!
Where did she work? I'd like to support them for doing the right thing...
I just dont get it ...... whyyyyyyyyyy what the fuck is wrong with some white people , i live in england and yes racism exists but not like this , discusting , appauling behaviour , should of knocked the bitch out !! ashamed right now to be white
When you thought things can't get more bizarrely annoying... Interesting how she became the very kind of people she fears.
Did she? She's fearing him because his black. She's not scared of him being violent or anything otherwise she'd leave him alone and just call the police. She just thinks she's better than him.
She wasn't scared at all - I think that is clear from the video. I think she 'feared' what his presence in 'her' building meant because she's racist.
she wasn't at all scared I mean she got in the elevator alone with him
If she was scared, why was she following him around?
She is an arrogant, entitled, insensitive bitch!!! This angers me beyond belief!!!! I’m a white woman, and I don’t believe anyone should have to go through this! Who does she think she is? I just want you to know that we aren’t all like her. I don’t know anyone like her! You had the patience of a Saint. Good for you!
This comment has been deleted.
Well, I mean, he does still have to live in the same building with her. Assuming she can still afford to live there. I can see why he wouldn't want to be too much of an a-hole about it.
Nobody has to answer to you (her)! Let me stop there before i start cursing
So, now instead of just DWB (driving while black,) there is MIWB - moving in while black, EWB - eating while black, as in the teacher's aid at Smith College taking her lunch in a school break room, SWB - shopping at a deli in NY and brushing against a woman with a backpack, another MIWB in NY, SWWB - a child selling bottled water. 911 was called in all those instances, and there are many more. Heinous.
So she said “I am uncomfortable” and then she got into the elevator alone with him. Doesn’t sound uncomfortable to me. This is happening way too often and it needs to stop. It makes me embarrassed to be white. Kudos to A’Darreion for keeping his cool.
just looked on america's murder stats. Yup, I'd not feel safe there too. My 40 milion nation have less murders than one medium size US city. The opposite cases: white women murdered by immigrants rarely hit front pages. Especially in progressive sources, fighting "racism"
https://fox2now.com/2018/10/16/woman-in-viral-video-with-black-man-speaks-out-after-being-fired-defends-her-actions/
Must be uncomfortable for her to bump into him in the building...
He posts this online and then expect people to send "positive waves of energy" to the woman??? Does he know how internet works?
Disgusting human being
Why is it that there are still a lot of people whose living under the rock while wearing their ass in there heads?
That was absolutely disgusting!! I hope she is horribly embarrassed and can learn to not be so ignorant in the future. She needs serious counseling.
As a Security Officer, I can educate you to know about the rules that only apply for Canada. Here is The Rights and Freedoms for all Canadian are set out in the 34 sections which form the Charter. I just go through from Sections 7 to Section 9. Life, liberty and security of the Person 7. Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of the person and the right not to be deprived thereof except in accordance with the principles of fundamental justice. Search or Seizure 8. Everyone has the right to be secure against UNREASONABLE search or seizure. Detention or Imprisonment 9. Everyone has the right not to be ARBITRARILY detained or imprisoned This is for my fellow Canadian. It is a dejected thing to see this kind of behaviours and unacceptable. Let us all learn from it, or we are going to be doomed to see it again, but this time in our beautiful country.
wtg she should have been put in cuffs and made to move out !
Terrifying and ugly.
I wrote some pretty angry words on Twitter already, so I have rid most of my initial fury. But I must say that I ABSOLUTELY NEED to take lessons from Mr Tole (apologies if I blew spelling), he was calm, respectful and an incredible gentleman, whilst she was a complete and unadulterated ASSHOLE!! There are too damn many assholes and not enough people who act classy and dignified! I used to be the latter, but I've let anger get the better parts of me, and I needed this Brilliant Gentleman to remind me! Thanking YOU, Mr Tole and wishing you a lifetime of happiness and abundance! GODSPEED!!
America has really become a scary and dangerous place for people of colour, make America great again!
Wow. Just wow.
Regardless of race it’s best practice to challenge “tail gating” at the main entrance of a shared building. Refusing to enter the door code right at the beginning is what causes the suspicion, not his race.
I worked in an apartment building where all tenants were strictly told not to hold the security door for anybody as doing so defeats the purpose of having a security door in the first place. People has to be buzzed in or use their own key to get in the building. This happened after numerous car break ins in the underground parkade from people who were gaining access by waiting for someone to let them in the building. He did not show his fob or let her close the door so he could let himself in. I don’t see anything racist about this. Giving someone access to a secure area when you are not sure that they have permissible access is not a racist at all. When she realized that he had a key she even tried to introduce herself. Use your head snowflakes, not every incident between two people of different skin colours is race based.
I just don’t get why she was being so racist. All she managed to do was make her self look like a cruel and racist person. Praise to him for being so patient, I would’ve totally lost it, someone did that to me.
I meant if someone did that to me
People like this make me sick
She is not concerned for her safety, she merely wants to show that she is a RACIST !!!
It's a shame. This should have been a good teaching moment but no-one is listening to each other , this will never end at this rate.
While it was a secure building, everyone in NYC still holds a door open for the person behind them, it's just polite. If she didn't believe he was a tenet she could have made a comment about their being neighbors to suss him out. Once she threatened to call the cops and he kept insisting that he lived there, she should be able to tell he wasn't a robber. Her motives appear suspect and come off as harassing. It's kind of amazing that he was as calm as he was. I doubt I could have managed that.
What a marvelous man! I would love to have him in my life. He is right, we all choose the kind of world we live in by managing our reactions to the things that happen to us. His own response to the responses was even better, and no, I cannot understand the schadenfreude at her losing her job, it was certainly not his intention when uploading the video.
Dude you showed so much dignity & self control, what a shitty thing to have to deal with, I would have lost it, told the silly twat to fek off.
Imagine Muslims being taunted like that on daily basis on the street. How would they feel being branded as terrorist.
I hope that woman gets exploding hemorrhoids.
hello,Im sorry for her behavior,no one of any color should be treated this way,I ashamed sometimes to be white due to this ignorant behavior! bottom line we are all human beings, man, women we all bleed the same we all have emotions why do people act like this you should be ashamed yourself, lets show love, kindness, positivity to all people, kathy romanello
There are many options as motives for her rude behavior (none giving her the authority to physically block a person from moving): 1. She was honestly suspicious of a person entering the house without a key and went overboard even after noticing she was wrong out of shame or stuborness 2. She's "that person" in the house, prying on other people's business and generally being a sad, obtrusive person without any life of her own. 3. She was drunk or on drugs. 4. She's a neurotic wreck, for whatever reason. 5. She's a shameless racist. Now, why would so many of you jump to the conclusion that she's a full blown racist is beyond me. All you see are shades of skin color of which you deduce that it must've been a racist incident.
Were was the proof of racist intent though?
I am sad that it took this and for her loosing her job for people to realize that their belief system is not within the grasp of their own reality. The whole point of him sending her good vibes is in the hopes that she changes her view of human beings no matter what they look like or where they are from. I have no idea what it is like to be a black man, and I know that I never will. My hope is that I am aware enough on how I treat people and how I leave anyone I come into contact with. Bravo for D’Arreion and his patience and sending good vibes her way.
This is ridiculous, why do you always have to complain online about everything. I don't know why she followed him if she felt threatened, I would've just slammed the door on his face if he didn't have the key to the buildinf, end of story, and no need to talk about this BS..
Wow! What was she thinking? He is a man, he lives in the building too, they walk into each other in the door, that was it. Oooohhhh right, my bad, he is black. So what? What neurons in her brain told her he is not living here? Tell me please. Bad, bad behavior in your part lady.
As of today's (10/17/18) news, she is completely unapologetic. She says the building rules are you don't let anyone in. So she should have closed the door, let him use his key or fob, and let it be. Instead, she followed him to his door and despite his having a key, called the police. These people should be fined for false alarms.
And in addition ... I find it ridiculous that she has lost her job . Probably not the most fine communication. Defending and self-protecting. But all : What did she really do wrong?
May I say something to defend this woman? She has entered her building, which is obviously specially protected. Someone, whether black or white, has joined her to use the open door. She now asks if he also lives here and has a key. The simplest solution would have been: Close the door. He opens with his key. Then he always says: this is my house. I live here and he's probably right about that. Still, I don't think that's right. To make a long story short: why doesn't he just say: look, that's my key. and yes, in the end it's probably idiotic to send the police to an apartment that's obviously inhabited,
Look, there was a much better way of handling this than she did. Instead of "I can't let you in for security reasons because I don't know if you're a thief." Or "I'm scared and I want proof you live here." She could have said "You need to use your keycard/code so they know who is in the building and who isn't so in case they have to emergency evacuate the building for say a fire, they can make sure everyone gets out safely and is accounted for." But her attitude and superiority complex got in the way. If you want to people to do something your way, ask or say it in a way that they will think about how it benefits them, not you.
So she said “I’m uncomfortable“ and yet she got in the elevator with him. This is gotten way out of control and it’s happening way too often. It makes me embarrassed to be white. Kudos to D’Arraion for keeping his cool.
This is just a statement about my southern upbringing. Born in Mississippi raised in Memphis. Daddy born in Nebraska settled in Chicago . My point is I grew up in the middle of white territory. Not once did I ever hear my wonderful parents refer to people of color by the N word. This was years ago, I was born in1944. My point is not all of us were racist, nor are we now.
Why did she lose her job, exactly? The punishment does no fit the crime.
So she can end up on public assistance? Good job
Looks to me like she should take better care of the poor dog instead of harassing an innocent man.
Some people just want attention these days...
Of course, what would REALLY show her up would be for him to invite her into his apartment for a coffee and a chat.
Why would I want this crazy bitch in my house?
Wow! That’s just pure craziness. I’m glad the public held her accountable.
How embarrassing how at the end she tried to say if he was a neighbor she wanted to introduce herself. Like he would want anything to do with her!!! And even after it was clear he had keys and everything she called the cops??
Good on this guy! Hope this "woman" gets all the karma she deserves for that shit
I am going to follow Mr. Toles request. If he can maintain his cool with this woman, then I am going to try to do the same. She has just created a major life crisis for herself and is receiving terrible remarks in response to her behavior. However, Mr. Toles is looking beyond her behavior to address the human being. Kindness is what will make the difference, Thank you Mr. Toles!
Wow!! No Words!!!
Seriously
Jesus. It's exhausting being white and watching this crap so regularly. I can only imagine how this actually feels. Maddening. Sick.
First what I’d like to say is that the woman’s behavior is disgusting and primitive. H/e Americans need to ask themselves how is it that this is happening in 2018. I was fortunate to be raised in one of the most diverse places in the U.S., if not the world, so I believe I’m qualified to share why ppl may be racist. I have made friends with lots of ppl of different backgrounds. A) lack of diversity in their areas B) but largely due to the media. Shows like Maury and Bill Cunningham, don’t do any favors for black ppl. 3) Also, I see that it’s beyond frustrating to be black in America. I may be able to relate a little w/ maybe having a mental illness. Many ppl have called me bi-polar and as a result I purposely acted like it bc my response was, “I’ll show you what bipolar looks like really!” Let’s just say, it did nothing to help my cause. Don’t feed into stereotypes..it only makes things worse.
This is sad. She ís so scary: following him to his door... he did right to act like a gentleman.
Who's to say she didn't have a gun?
That's alwful and she should apologize, hopefully learn a lesson, but lose her job?
It'll teach her that her attitude is unacceptable. Racists have gotten it in their heads that their behavior will be tolerated because Trump is in office. They're learning the hard way that that isn't the case.
Well take into account that this woman probably has money. Those kind of people have always thought they are better than anyone else (AKA privileged).
Many companies have a code of conduct employees are expected to follow both in and out of the office. Harassment and racism are defintely poor reflections of someone's character and therefore the company chose to separate themselves from her.
Yes. Lose her job. The company can't afford to keep a racist on staff.
apologies are worth exactly nothing.
