The woman, who we have chosen not to name, confronted D’Arreion Toles as he tried to enter the building that they share in St. Louis, Missouri. Claiming that she felt ‘uncomfortable’ with D’Arreion entering the building, she proceeded to block him while demanding to know his name and which apartment he lived in. The incident was captured on video by D’Arreion himself and has since gone viral, after he shared it with this message: “To be a black man in America, and come home. Woman tries to stop me from coming into my building because she feels insecure, Downtown St. Louis luxury loft, because she don’t feel that I belong, never really thought this would happen to me, but it did! Then 30 mins later police knock on my door, because she called! I was shocked this is America in 2018!”

Soon after the video went viral the internet tracked down the woman and exposed her identity, leading to her losing her job. D’Arreion, while shocked and upset to be treated in such a way, doesn’t want a witch hunt however. “Don’t bash the women just send her positive waves of energy,” he wrote. “Let’s be great people this is our world and this message is to everyone of all ages/ races/ colors/! We only get one life so let’s make the most of it and be great, no time for negativity!”
