Someone Shares An Illustration On How Much Harder It Is For Women In The Workplace, Man Responds With His Edited Version
Billionaire businessman Anand Mahindra recently had to babysit his one-year-old grandkid. In just a week, this experience made him recognize that women require much more effort to succeed than men. So much so, that he even shared this realization with his 8 million Twitter followers. Mahindra even added an eye-opening cartoon to his tweet to further illustrate his point.
The image shows three businessmen and three businesswomen lined up for a race on a track. The men have no hurdles in front of them, but the women have laundry, cooking and household chores in front of their paths. Mahindra said he “salute(s) every working woman & acknowledge(s) that their successes have required a much greater amount of effort than their male counterparts.” However, some men were offended by his tweet.

The thought-provoking image was drawn by Peruvian political cartoonist, Carlin, who draws a regular panel for Peru publication, La Republica.
Plenty of evidence supports it, too. A recent study, for example, shows that fathers experience more happiness from parenthood than mothers. And that’s mainly because they have more time and space to continue other activities in the world around them and have fewer responsibilities at home. Researchers looked at measures of well-being that included happiness, well-being, depressive symptoms, psychological satisfaction, and stress, and concluded that gender significantly impacted the association between childcare and happiness — men were happier while caring for their children, while women were less happy.
Some men were offended by this tweet, so they created their own versions of it

Another fresh study found that although most women work outside the home and most men now at least pitch in on chores, the majority of women still handle the bulk of a home’s “invisible labor” – tasks like making sure the kids get new sneakers or lining up a babysitter for an evening out. It also added that women who were burdened with these tasks reported feeling overwhelmed and empty.
The reactions to the cartoon are mostly a mix of women showing their appreciation for their household tasks and emotional labor and mental load being acknowledged, and men who were like, “Hey, I did the dishes last week, what gives?”
Which sparked a heated debate on whether or not women and men have the same opportunities

Did... did that one dude really compare pregnancy to "carrying" sperm??
Also sperm only last for like 2 months tops before they are reabsorbed into the body and replaced xD Dude literally had no idea what he was talking about haha
Load More Replies...I don't understand men who get offended by these types of things. If it truly doesn't describe you, congrats, you are part of the solution. If it is hitting too close to home, maybe reevaluate your contributions at home. Maybe if you can't or WON'T help out more at home, you can afford to outsource some housework. If you can afford outsourcing the work, don't complain about housework. Be a part of the solution instead of whining that the problem makes you uncomfortable
I do not understand why pretty much all commenters take a caricature for a fact, and for a generalization, i.e. imply that the three women there represent *all* women and the three men *all* men. By doing so, you suffocate any discussion on gender equality before it even started.
Load More Replies...LOL some of these comments are living jokes :D Why women tend to do all house work? Coz many men were raised wrongly, have no skills, have no motivation, no focus, nor organisational skills or simply are lazy. Besides that women "usually" are left with all the work, they have to micromanage their partners, who sometimes fail at basic household tasks. Trying to get them do a simple job requires repeating 10 times, instructing, then showing, then re-doing it by yourself. So it is much easier just to friggin do that task yourself!!! That's why many women feel better of without a man.
Haven’t you ever acted like you were really bad at something just to get out of having to do it? We all have, though most of us grow out of it at some point in our teens. That’s the strategy some men—-the ones with low self-esteem and/or other issues—-use so women will give up and do it themselves. The reason? Because housework and childcare have traditionally been woman’s work, so is beneath them—-which is stupid, because the trend toward marrying and having children later in life (in our thirties instead of our teens) means both women AND men will have their own homes before marriage. Those homes will need to be cleaned, the men will need to feed themselves and do their dishes, and the laundry will still have to be done (you can only turn your tightly-whiteys dirty side out once). It only makes sense for men to learn how to cook and clean. Same thing goes for women and car repair, minor household repairs, etc. Additionally, many men end up as single fathers, so learning how to take care of children makes sense as well.
Load More Replies...The edited image assumes women have no health problems... Too bad, I hoped for something smarter, because, yes, men do face problems too, but this is not a good rappresentation. None of us have it easy, btw.
Health problems?! It didn't even mention menstruation, which technically isn't a health problem!

You are a feminist, and so is every man who is for equality.
Amen. Ladies, If you're not a feminist, give up your bank account, car driving, money access, job outside the home unless it's as a teacher/nurse/cleaner/factory shmuck at best, and never be allowed to file rape charges, file for divorce, or report spousal abuse. In fact , if you're not a feminist, give up birth control, too! Now.... you're not a feminist? Gentlemen, if you think this all sounds like oppressive BS and there's no reason a woman can't get a university degree or join the military, et cetera? ... Thank you.
Load More Replies...I swear, that second picture was posted by an Incel. I was lucky enough to be raised by a single strong woman and thus, I was taught how to do my share of things like cooking, cleaning etc. It was never an issue in any of my relationships (as I also never believed or understood wtf was gender roles - a load of bullshit). Obviously sharing responsibilities is the bare minimum. Women are still not being treated equally around the world and that's something that totally baffles me. Like...why not? I like to surround my self with people who are smarter than me and that most definitely includes women!
The caricature is well done, as it is provocative, like it should. The comments reveal, however, that many take it for more than a caricature. Only those comments make it an offense towards men (caricatures may overemphasise...this does not imply there are no fathers with a 50% share in raising children and doing chores). Even worse, those women commenting things like " we woman manage", "we are the only multitaskers" and so on foster the continued normalization of what the caricature criticises. This means that, in a way, they did not understand its implications
I thought the multitasking comment above wasn’t tying to say that only women are multitaskers? It was an awkwardly worded sentence, which I chalked up to her not being a native English speaker— not that I’m criticizing her English!
Load More Replies...It is true, that men don't get emotional support or victim councelling and have a lot of pressure on them - which both lead to the high suicide rates. But other than that the other edited in points are ludicrous. Prostate cancer? Really?? So women are cancerfree?
I understand that men don't have it easy, I agree with the idea of that second picture. What I don't understand is why prostate cancer is there as an "obstacle", there was no ovarian cancer on the women's side... The idea of making that second picture is justified, but the implementation did not turn out good or smart.
There goes some men complaining again, about things that literally don't affect them at all. Men, especially white men in western society are the privileged kind. They have never dealt with oppression or actual sexism of any kind. They just want to be oppressed and play the victim so badly that its pathetic.
“No AcTuAl SeXiSm” f**k right off, I can’t even take my kids to the park, or the lake, without having some Karen think I’m a pedo, or a kidnapper simply because I have kids (this barely scratches the surface, but I digress). yes, I do admit, I do I have privilege, but so do you, Black, White, man, woman, whatever you are, you have privilege in some way.
Load More Replies...Also, it seems like these men had to reach a bit far to find hurdles for themselves
So y'all think prostate cancer, heart disease, and other medical issues are just issues for men? Also those "unfair laws" are there to attempt to create a more equal work environment? I'm not even going to get into the misandry bit. That is what I mens by reaching far.
Load More Replies...I think this is too generalised. My parents. Both work. My father doesn't do housework, tho he does know how to do it and will help if maid is not there. he uses the time to build networking(as how we can keep our business without giving others fees for the patients) coz they r in private sector. My mom manages housework with her profession and bank and legal work. Coz my father is not good with rules and regulations and buracracy. They both work in unison and have divided work based on strgenths. Ofcourse there r fights in our home on him not taking basic care coz that's how he was rasied & my mom is meticulous. But largely in our house the entire work is divided. They have engagement in community and family , spearheaded by my father. So at the end of the day it's really a subjectwise story
But it isn't "subjectwise". Your family's dynamic, while absolutely wonderful, is a rare thing to see in real life. Even in today's world where most families need two incomes to sustain themselves and their children, it is still rare to see men go out of their way to participate in the home sphere and the rearing of their own kids. And esp as an Indian, and this BP post being from Indians, I can safely say men truly do not want to participate in domestic activities just bc it is seen as being beneath them. Things are changing, yes, but they are also slow to change.
Load More Replies...The way (some) men react to feminism is very much like the way (some) white people react to Black Lives Matter. To put it succinctly: "when you're accustomed to privilege, equality feels like oppression."
Y'know... It used to be good and empowering that women told their girls that they could "do anything you set your mind to". I think that mothers should keep doing that, but add that it's dangerous to try to to that "anything" because they honestly CAN because of how far this whole feminism thing is going. It talks about equal rights, but is actually pushing men under. I am a girl that's worried about the future of the males in my life and want to say that it isn't just women being abused. men are getting crap because of what only SOME of them do, and i think that there will always be sexists and racists and homophobics. I'm not saying that they're right, but i'm saying that we can't do anything to change the fact that they exist. We're living with it now and will live with it in the future. What is my poitn in all this? I don't know, but no-one will read this, so it's fine.
I have to ask, how old are you? (if you don't mind) bc it seems you're talking more about a specific type of radical feminism, one that, aside from what you've said, also typically excludes trans women from any discussion about feminism. If so, I'd highly recommend you step back and do some reading of your own to understand what's wrong with this generalisation of feminists being "men-haters" which is, for the most part, garbage.
Load More Replies...What the men added Part 2: *No Women privileges - Like being aborted because we're female, menstruation, paying pink tax, not earning as much as a man so having to work for longer before we retire and retiring with less anyway, and not getting the promotion because of our gender, and having to do 'women's work' like cooking and housework when we get home from our full time job? Or do you mean time off from work to go push a baby out of our vaginas? *Toxic feminism - ah you mean not staying where we belong - barefoot and pregnant and in the kitchen and letting you think you're the only ones who are intelligent, capable of running billion-dollar companies and doing your job better than you? *Prostate cancer - vs uterine cancer? *Heart attacks - news flash! Women have heart attacks as well. We also have strokes just like men. *Biased Laws - are you kidding me? What planet do you live on? There are biased laws and you know who benefits - MEN! *Misandry - news flash - we don't dislike men. We dislike stupidity and arrogance.
to top it off, women are more likely to suffer heart attacks than men! it's just that the data was skewed to favour men since so many older women willingly try and ignore the symptoms as the household cannot afford to let them fall sick. I wonder who did that to them. hmm.
Load More Replies...This is true for some, and not true for others, and even partially true to varying degrees for some. It depends on how you were raised and how your relationship with your partner is. Some may expect one to do all the "housework," and the other only "career work," and if the first one "career works" too that's expected on top of the housework. Others do a little of both, equally. While others may do it almost equally with extra work in one of those categories. The takeaway in my opinion here is that housework is real work, and that you must do what makes you both happy, whatever it winds up being. :)
First of all, there is absolutely no reason for any one person in the house to be doing all the work. Most of the women I meet that are doing all the work is because they allow themselves to be the ones doing it. We have 6 kids. They all do their own laundry. They also do chores to earn internet. 4 of them are on The Autism Spectrum and they all help. It was established very early on that I am not the maid, cook or any other hired help. They clean their bathrooms, they cook for themselves and they clean up after themselves. Is it perfect or the way I would do it, probably not. You treat people how to treat you. Do you reload the dishwasher after a kid or hubby loads it? Do you gripe about the fact that the towels are not folded the way you would do it? Have you over scheduled the family, because you don't wan the kids to "miss out?" So much can be done to lighten the load, but some of us need to lower our expectations and allow others to help to the best they know how and not complain.
The edited version of BS_Bhakuni: yeah, like those things you added don't apply for women. Next time, try to add something that makes a good pun. At least you still have 1 good trait: sense of humour.
The dude added heart attacks on there, like heart disease isn't the #1 leading cause of death among women. He adds dhobi on there (had to look it up - he's obviously not from the US) like it's a regular thing. For real, you gotta be super privileged around here to be able to pay someone to do the laundry. Don't know what half of the other stuff is that he's talking about... must be about wherever he's from. It's a bunch of BS. I do agree about more physical labor, but men are more apt to hire out for these things (pay the kid down the street to mow the yard, hire a plumber, etc.) when they expect the woman to do her job (which she gets a lower salary) ON TOP of her housework.
Women who have children and still work are abandoning their children....working is their escape from responsibility....
Only Indian incels would go out of their way to reply to an accurate cartoon like this. And I say this as an Indian person myself. There is nothing that infuriates them quite like being called out for the patriarchy that is rampant in our societies. I'm still recovering from the guy who listed misandry as a horrible thing he has to face. And the sperm guy, jesus, these guys have never helped their mothers a single day in their g*ddamn lives, I'll confirm that much for you.
We can counterpart the men’s arguments in the picture. Prostrate cancer- ovarian cancer, breast cancer. Toxic women- sexist men. Women also have heart attacks Women do not always have emotional support. I could keep going, but I have dinner to make and laundry to do before I go to work where I’m expected to do the physical work that “only” men do.
First off, I don't hate men. I love them. Secondly, just because a man wants equality for women doesn't make him a beta male or less of a man. Thirdly, all genders and races have their struggles and issues, but to say that there is no such thing as white male privilege makes you sound naive and insensitive. I have experienced situations that were very difficult for me and the reason was because I am a black woman. My sister and I were almost arrested at a gas station even though we paid for the gas. My male coworkers at a pizza restaurant treated me like I was beneath them because I am a woman. I was called a bitch for standing up for myself and have been insulted because of my skin color.
Stop attacking each other over gender. If you’re tired of women working hard, then raise your children and husband better. Remember that this doesn’t apply to everyone - some women have it ridiculously easy (rich, attractive women), some men have it appallingly hard. Yelling at each other on twitter over w cartoon helps no one.
The hurdles shown on the left are also faced by working men who live in a single-person household.
Men who live in a single person household do an entire family’s worth of cooking and laundry? Tell me more!
Load More Replies...So let's look at what the men added: * No emotional support - what are your friends for? That's what we have. If you don't talk to your friends or they're all suffering from toxic masculinity and you don't talk to your wife/girlfriend who's to blame? *Fake #MeToo - yes compared with being raped and reporting it and not being believed and having to endure facing your rapist in court and being blamed for 'causing' the rape, a fake #MeToo really sucks. *High Suicide - Yes, more men do kill themselves. All that means is they opt out leaving the women to cope with not only all they had to do in the first place but shouldering what you used to as well. Thanks for that. *Facing Mangina everyday - and yet you still think toxic masculinity is a-okay and blame women for stepping up and saying it's wrong and calling women toxic when they do? *Physical work - come here let me slap you! You think women don't do physical work! That's just for starters!
Fake. The wage gap is fake as hell, in 1963 JFK signed the Equal Pay Act, forcing employers to pay men and women equal pay for equal work.

Load More Replies...Ooh, ooh! Next do victims of rape and perpetrators of homicide. There’s no way this conversation can go wrong.
