Someone Shares An Illustration On How Much Harder It Is For Women In The Workplace, Man Responds With His Edited Version
Billionaire businessman Anand Mahindra recently had to babysit his one-year-old grandkid. In just a week, this experience made him recognize that women require much more effort to succeed than men. So much so, that he even shared this realization with his 8 million Twitter followers. Mahindra even added an eye-opening cartoon to his tweet to further illustrate his point.
The image shows three businessmen and three businesswomen lined up for a race on a track. The men have no hurdles in front of them, but the women have laundry, cooking and household chores in front of their paths. Mahindra said he “salute(s) every working woman & acknowledge(s) that their successes have required a much greater amount of effort than their male counterparts.” However, some men were offended by his tweet.

The thought-provoking image was drawn by Peruvian political cartoonist, Carlin, who draws a regular panel for Peru publication, La Republica.
Plenty of evidence supports it, too. A recent study, for example, shows that fathers experience more happiness from parenthood than mothers. And that’s mainly because they have more time and space to continue other activities in the world around them and have fewer responsibilities at home. Researchers looked at measures of well-being that included happiness, well-being, depressive symptoms, psychological satisfaction, and stress, and concluded that gender significantly impacted the association between childcare and happiness — men were happier while caring for their children, while women were less happy.
Some men were offended by this tweet, so they created their own versions of it

Another fresh study found that although most women work outside the home and most men now at least pitch in on chores, the majority of women still handle the bulk of a home’s “invisible labor” – tasks like making sure the kids get new sneakers or lining up a babysitter for an evening out. It also added that women who were burdened with these tasks reported feeling overwhelmed and empty.
The reactions to the cartoon are mostly a mix of women showing their appreciation for their household tasks and emotional labor and mental load being acknowledged, and men who were like, “Hey, I did the dishes last week, what gives?”
Which sparked a heated debate on whether or not women and men have the same opportunities

Did... did that one dude really compare pregnancy to "carrying" sperm??
Also sperm only last for like 2 months tops before they are reabsorbed into the body and replaced xD Dude literally had no idea what he was talking about haha
He did! SMH. I also loved the one hurdle the guy had in the second cartoon: prostate cancer. Ummmm. How about we add breast cancer, cervical cancer, and uterine cancer to the women's hurdles...
Yeah. He’s neglected the pain, hormonal swings and some shame women experience when menstruating, PCOS, cervical and ovarian cancers and other diseases that can leave women barren ON TOP of all the complications of pregnancy, miscarriage or risk of dying during or after childbirth AND post partum depression. But yeah, a guy carrying sperm in his ballsacs for years is the exact same thing...
I had to read that one a couple of times... I was like dude, you just ruined the argument for all men with that comment.
KT Pinto haha
Yes he did!
I don't understand men who get offended by these types of things. If it truly doesn't describe you, congrats, you are part of the solution. If it is hitting too close to home, maybe reevaluate your contributions at home. Maybe if you can't or WON'T help out more at home, you can afford to outsource some housework. If you can afford outsourcing the work, don't complain about housework. Be a part of the solution instead of whining that the problem makes you uncomfortable
I do not understand why pretty much all commenters take a caricature for a fact, and for a generalization, i.e. imply that the three women there represent *all* women and the three men *all* men. By doing so, you suffocate any discussion on gender equality before it even started.
This caricature does not suffocate discussion. It exaggerates some general cultural truths, which promotes discussion. Which we are seeing in this thread.
To men who find the original drawing offensive, I have just three words: waaah, waaah, waaah.

Yeah, I bet you have it really tough. I can tell just by the way you're posting on Bored Panda in the middle of the day that your life is probably soul-crushing.
Not sure who Scratch is replying to, but people use Bored Panda in many different countries, so it’s likely not “the middle of the day” for many posters right now. It’s still dark outside where I am, for example.

Scratch, I am on BP in the middle of the day, but guess what I am also doing? Eating lunch. We DO have times, like our lunch hour, where people who work hard, long hours can still get in a bit of fun personal time. Has nothing to do with if your life is soul-crushing or not...even some of the lowest paid jobs here STILL get a lunch hour.
So are you.

Let me try and help you then. Since you seem to not have a clue. When you spread lies on a cartoon vs actually looking up facts and then you try and discriminate against the opposite sex, it tends to piss people off. Congrats... hope this helps.

Man's contribution at home is often working two jobs to keep the roof over their heads, because if he limits to single 8 hour working day, they will have to choose wheter to eat, or pay rent - and wifeys will often just refuse to do any income (or if they do - its HER money, for HER to spend on HERSELF). Cute, eh?
What crazy made-up bullshit world are you living in?
Sounds like you've been hurt or hang around some messed up people
LOL some of these comments are living jokes :D Why women tend to do all house work? Coz many men were raised wrongly, have no skills, have no motivation, no focus, nor organisational skills or simply are lazy. Besides that women "usually" are left with all the work, they have to micromanage their partners, who sometimes fail at basic household tasks. Trying to get them do a simple job requires repeating 10 times, instructing, then showing, then re-doing it by yourself. So it is much easier just to friggin do that task yourself!!! That's why many women feel better of without a man.
Haven’t you ever acted like you were really bad at something just to get out of having to do it? We all have, though most of us grow out of it at some point in our teens. That’s the strategy some men—-the ones with low self-esteem and/or other issues—-use so women will give up and do it themselves. The reason? Because housework and childcare have traditionally been woman’s work, so is beneath them—-which is stupid, because the trend toward marrying and having children later in life (in our thirties instead of our teens) means both women AND men will have their own homes before marriage. Those homes will need to be cleaned, the men will need to feed themselves and do their dishes, and the laundry will still have to be done (you can only turn your tightly-whiteys dirty side out once). It only makes sense for men to learn how to cook and clean. Same thing goes for women and car repair, minor household repairs, etc. Additionally, many men end up as single fathers, so learning how to take care of children makes sense as well.
(Ran out of space) Lastly, you will be much more attractive to someone you want to date if you—-and your home—-are clean and neat, and do not stink. Throw in clean, neat, happy, healthy, and good smelling children and/or pets, and you will be considered a real catch!
I'm 3 years older than my brother. When we were in our teens he asked me to boil some water for him. And in college I guy I didn't even know asked me to please iron his shirts. At work once the guys needed something typed, so they gave it to me. We had the same job description. Most men are more self-sufficient than that, and many women are not, but there is a cultural belief that some things are women's work and some things are men's. Note that the work in question does not require either testicles or vaginas to perform it.
Wow, misandry at it's finest. Sexist.
Amy Grant, I wish you wouldn't make sexist stereotypes. Most men in America live by themselves or with other men before marriage and get by fine. Saying that men "fail at basic household tasks" ignores the years they spend taking care of themselves.

I think this is too generalised. My parents. Both work. My father doesn't do housework, tho he does know how to do it and will help if maid is not there. he uses the time to build networking(as how we can keep our business without giving others fees for the patients) coz they r in private sector. My mom manages housework with her profession and bank and legal work. Coz my father is not good with rules and regulations and buracracy. They both work in unison and have divided work based on strgenths. Ofcourse there r fights in our home on him not taking basic care coz that's how he was rasied & my mom is meticulous. But largely in our house the entire work is divided. They have engagement in community and family , spearheaded by my father. So at the end of the day it's really a subjectwise story
Most people don't have a maid.
