People Applaud This Waitress Who Stood Up For All The Staff And Shut Down Jerk Customer

Everyone who has worked in food service knows there is no such thing as an easy day on the job. And the major reasons aren’t natural disasters or infrastructure failures. No, the majority of the time it’s simply because someone is being an a**hole.

But one Long Island diner waitress has had enough of rude customers. She is going viral thanks to a video where the woman shuts down a particularly obnoxious man. Posted by TikToker Louis Cozzolino, the clip shows her saying, “Honestly, nobody wants to wait on you. I’m asking you nicely… Could you please just leave? You got a cup of coffee out of us, what more do you want?”

Why did the staff want the man to leave, you might wonder? Well, it sounds like he was being very offensive.

From what we can hear in the video, it sounds like he deserved it

The unidentified man was accused of “staring at and trying to solicit his phone number” to a group of young girls before going on a homophobic and sexist tirade in the Massapequa Diner around 11 p.m. Saturday, Louis Cozzolino, the man who shot the footage from one table over, explained.

After moving the man away from the girls, the waitress told him to leave because other staff “didn’t want to wait on him, either.”

“Sondra is honestly an amazing person,” Cozzolino told Bored Panda. “So generous and always caring about the customers as friends. The patron was making rude comments towards her and other guests at the diner. She handled the situation amazingly and I am proud to know her!”

The video has accumulated over 6.8 million views

@louiscozzShe did what every server has ever wanted to do to a rude ass customer #serverlife #serverproblems #restaurant #fyp #SimsSelves #MacysGiftTok♬ original sound – Louiscozz

After the man refused to leave, Sondra stopped being nice.

“I’ll kick your a** … you don’t frighten me for one minute. The way you speak about people who are lesbians and young children,” the waitress said.

“Oh, you’re so frigging full of s**t! Tell it to somebody who cares, you’re not wanted here,” she yelled, pointing to Cozzolino’s table as to witnesses who would back her account up.

The man then argued that Sondra had a bias against him and said she refused to serve him “for no reason” two weeks ago.

“I didn’t want to serve you for no reason? Did you take a good look in the mirror?” she replied.

According to Cozzolino, it was only after the police were called and the diner owner went to the table that the man volunteered to leave before the Nassau PD could arrive.

And there’s even a part II of the conflict

People love the way the waitress handled the situation

And in turn, she’s loving the support

Someone even thanked her in the diner’s reviews

After the story went viral, the woman also commented on the situation

She's fantastic trying to take control of a nasty customer. I hope that he left and doesn't come back. It's been far too long that the customer can treat wait staff/ customer service like s**t and they're forced to take it. I've never had to work in that line of work but I've worked in care of ppl with developmental disabilities and managed a home for them, worked in a lockdown treatment facility for girls 13-18 years old and boys 5-13 years old, worked in a nursing home as a CNA, and anytime you work providing care for family members and have to interact with their families you're under close to the same scrutinies as customer service and it can be frustrating as hell aside from just doing your job. I can understand that much. It can be brutal interacting with other people, especially when some are toxic and vile.

A woman complained after I took her wine glass away when there was still a swallow left (she was out of her chair, purse in hand) and now my hours have been cut to one day a week. She's a regular, I'm new, and I work for a restaurant that 100% adheres to the "the customer is always right" attitude. Oh, and I gave her half a glass of wine to make up for it even though she had nowhere near that much left.

Start looking for another job. You don't deserve to have your hours cut over something so stupid. It means your boss is willing to screw with your ability to make a living over petty crap. It's not worth it for you to have to deal with that kind of job insecurity. Seriously.

the customer is NEVER always right. You are ONLY right when comes to how you want your order prepared and ONLY within the offered options. Outside of that, you are an arsehole if you go beyond that. As a business owner myself, I would have physically removed you if you refused to leave on your own.

If you’re asked to leave, you need to leave. It’s not worth it for anyone if you stay. I think that’s the case regardless of who ‘was wrong’. Which clearly the customer was in this example.

No one makes enough to deal with this s**t. Those of us that work with the public, by far don't make enough. Good for Sandra! Male or female, I do not let customers treat my employees like garbage. The customer is not always right and that saying needs to go because some people manipulate and take advantage of that. Just the other day I dealt with a woman who tried using that on one of my girls because my stylist refused to keep chopping away at this ladies hair because it would have been messed up. Some people can be so ridiculous. It's almost like they enjoy making your job harder.

I applaud what she did; however, only seeing one side of the story makes me feel uneasy because there's no way for me to actually know the full story. I can't rightfully condemn someone if I didn't see the actions of both sides. People do lie and people are good actors. Something tells me there's truth to this but we shouldn't be so quick to condemn people without evidence to back it up.

As far as I know, anyone in public has no expectation of privacy and can be filmed -- in some areas that "no expectation of privacy" is so extreme that it has even been used in defense of pervy people taking upskirt photos.

Playing the devil's advocate here, but if you didn't capture his bad behavior on camera, then it's a waste of our time. This video is 100% one-sided, therefore not a single one of us strangers has the right to pass judgment. Sure, he might be a jerk, but only the truly ignorant would jump to conclusions based on this "evidence".
