Someone Asks “What Actually 100% Lived Up To The Hype” And People Deliver 45 Genuine Responses
Almost every day we hear about ways to improve our lives, whether in the form of asked or unasked advice, or as an outcome of thinking. But it’s not that simple. Making a decision of whatever kind can be a daunting task for a person who doesn’t like to step out of their comfort zone.
Some people, however, dare to try something new, whether it’s watching Avengers Endgame or moving out of their parents' home thanks to the hype that pushed them forward. “What actually 100% lived up to the hype?” someone wondered on Ask Reddit, and 24.1k upvotes and 10.1k comments later, we have some very interesting and illuminating responses. Turns out, not always are our expectations shattered by reality.

Having your own place to live without roommates.
I moved out young - 16. Angry house. Had roommates until probably age of 22. I moved out of a toxic family environment. Good choice- but some of the roommate arrangements I experienced were even more stressful. Had my own place, finally. Never have I experienced such peace and sense of luxury. Was great for a month. Then the dealing with my own mind in the literal liminal spaces started to weigh. Listening to one's own inner voice after decades of not being able to hear it over the cacaphony is...intense. Proud, but aloneness forced me to get hobbies and see humans (the latter, I am not fond of.) I'm introverted but I was always before finding time to decompress. It was a goal. Once I got to completely free the static, found I needed stimulation and to do some serious self care and realization.
I have a strict no roommate policy in our house. Right now, it's just my husband and me. We have let a friend in need stay, he stole from us. No friends are allowed to live with us anymore if in need. We have let both of our mothers live with us at separate times for a while, neither of them are allowed to live with us anymore if needed (relationships are still solid thank goodness but not under my roof, never again). I don't care how bad it gets for us, over my dead body will I ever let someone else live in our house. Luckily we are expecting our first child soon so that room will occupied anyway :) <3
I lived with 7 siblings with no privacy whatsoever. Having a place of my own is wonderful. I can only tolerate guests and not for very long.
Oh, very much yes! I know I could save a considerable amount of money if I were to, say, live in flat share, but I value my personal space too much for that. It's my ultimate freedom.
I take water pills, so it's imperative to have access to the bathroom.
I LOVE living alone! It’s just having that extra peace knowing that you make a mess and not worry about having to clean up immediately or taking a 1+ hour bath (I’m a considerate roommate, so I get anxious if I may be causing someone an inconvenience). It’s that not having to always be on you best behavior or not getting annoyed at the others annoying habits. Solo loving = true peace.
Dogs. Every day I walk thru the door home from anywhere and my dog is so pumped and happy to see me that I become happy. If I have a bad day he makes me happier. If I have a good day he makes me happier. They are so pure. We don't deserve them.
I would not be here if it weren't for my dog and cat, so grateful to both of them. They are the definition of unconditional love.
Same. I adore my dog. I'd love to have cats, too, but indoors you need to have two and I can't afford three pets. (I spend a lot on my dog: raw food, vet check-ups, super comfy beds - the lot. It would probably be even worse with cats XD )
Load More Replies...There's something about a dog's unconditional love that is so pure and sweet. Animals in general can teach us empathy and kindness.
When my friend’s dog passed away she decided not to get another one because they required too much time/energy. She wasn’t insanely busy, but worked and had a couple kids. For me it was like, how can you go from having a dog to not having one without feeling empty?
I totally understand what you mean. When I lost my good girl I felt very empty, but I decided not to get another dog because I just can't go through losing another one. People that adopt senior dogs have a special kind of heart.
Load More Replies...Sharing a friendship with a doggo will teach you that the word "person" applies to more than one species.
Divorcing a terrible person.
The sense of relief, freedom and having my old self back again cannot be expressed in words.
I would marry her all over again and divorce her just to experience that feeling again.
That just embodies the essence of liberation! It’s so nice!
Load More Replies...Yeah ditto! It was the best feeling in the world divorcing the most toxic person I've ever met. I'm the opposite though I definitely wish I'd never met her and definitely regret marrying her
I divorced my toxic husband. It took me 10 years to find myself again.
That reminds me of... "1970 Pontiac Firebird. The car I've always wanted and now I have it. I rule!"
I can fully relate to the first part but I would never willingly subject myself to a repeat.
YES! I hadn't really lived alone before, single maybe but still had kids. That first night all alone in my very own apartment was the best ever!
Seeing the Milky Way for the first time... blew my mind what many dont see because of city lights.
I was on a work trip to Corsica years ago and a few of us went down to the beach at night. We could see so many stars it was unreal. That has stayed with me all this time.
I once went for holiday in a godforsaken place in my own country. Middle of nowhere in the mountains, no road, no phone, no internet and a night sky like this. Hell I relaxed there like never before.
Load More Replies...One of the most profound experiences of my life was seeing the stars from the top of Mt. Haleakala in Maui. Not only no city lights, but 10,000 feet above lower atmospheric haze, and, essentially, in the middle of the ocean with little air pollution. I don’t have the words to describe the beauty of it.
I saw when I was a kid in Boy Scouts and we went camping in the California high desert. How amazed I was that we could see it, that it was so beautiful, and the sheer numbers of stars in the sky has stayed with me all these years.
I was driving through Colorado one time and we pulled off the side of the road in a place where there we NO lights from houses
Sorry... no lights from houses or any other man made structure within site. We stopped an turned off the car lights and just stood there looking up. As a kid raised in So Cal, I was amazed at how deep the stars looked. It wasn't just the number of stars, but it looked like you could see into an ocean of stars and they just went on forever. It was the most amazing thing I have ever seen.
Load More Replies...I live on an island that’s known for its telescopes. We have limited night lighting, with our minimal street lights being very dim. We also have practically no air pollution given we have one of the largest spans over the ocean of filtered, pollution-free air. The AQI base is measured 10 miles down the road. You don’t have to go to the top of the 14k feet/4.2k meter telescope mountain to get a great view of the stars. When there are no clouds they light up the night. I don’t think I could ever take this for granted.
Being healthy. It feels so good to feel good. I thought I would hate cutting out soda and junk food because they taste so good and made me happy. But I was so heavy, knee pain, couldn't sleep, miserable most of the time. Now it's normal to just feel good. It's actually crazy to think I lived like that for so long. It's worth it to put the effort into your health. Who cares if it takes a long time. You'll thank yourself.
It's not accessible the way it was pre-inflation when the average month's wages was enough to buy a vegetable.
Yeah but the price of everything went up. You can still eat for unbelievably cheap. Apples are insane but bananas aren't. Ever seen the price of dried beans and rice?
Load More Replies...Being healthy is wonderful, but it can be very hard to be consistent in fast paced modern society. I'm still trying, but after a long hard day at work... I'd rather get me an ice cream and lie in bed instead of go for a run. It is soooo hard!
don't know why you got downvoted. It's really hard!
Load More Replies...Seconded. I started a health kick during March 2020, when lockdown happened in the UK. At that point I'd recently turned 40 and was overweight and miserable. I had made excuses for years that between work and home life I simply didn't have the time or energy to work out. Then lockdown happened and all of a sudden I had more time than ever so those excuses wouldn't fly anymore. Two years later I've lost almost 6 stone and run a half marathon whereas two years previously I was out of breath just walking up my stairs. Proper weight loss does take time to achieve but once you get there you'll never look back.
Since I have a nerve disease I see how wonderful the time has been when I was still healthy. After over 15 years since it started I am still dreaming that I can run and walk without a cane. It hits hard at times when you wake up and can't.
Couldn't agree more. I've been on my health kick for 10 months. Lost 3 stone, gym 4 times a week. I've never been fitter or healthy in my adult life. Gone from XL to M. Loving it.
I can definitely feel it when I eat garbage food, my body gets more tired and sluggish. It is expensive to eat healthy however one can look up on the google how to eat cheap but still healthy. That one carrot that cost you your months wages..use it in soup or stew for example.. add a potato, maybe you can find a cheap cut of meat...a meal for a couple few days. There are ways to eat healthy on the cheap but takes some effort. If possible, growing your own veggies too..a pack of seeds cost $3 and I have carrots now that will last me until about March.
Hearing my baby laugh for the first time.
New father. Baby is 1mo. This may be the thing I'm most excited about. When she started responding to our voices with smiles....hearts melted!
Congratulations! That really is such a great experience. I remember my son's first smile, first belly laugh...he will be 18 in a few days. Enjoy every single moment, they are fleeting.
Load More Replies...A baby's voice is always a delightful thing. Unless you live alone, it's 3 AM, and you don't have a child.
The Grand Canyon. You just kinda assume that by the time you get around to seeing it that you’ll be underwhelmed.
NOPE. The most breathtaking thing I’ve ever seen. Absolutely unreal. It’s just... so... f*****g BIG. Couldn’t believe it.
Someday I will revisit the Grand Canyon because the first time I saw it I thought it was an illusion
It is a darn big hole in the ground. The first time I saw it my brain almost couldn’t compute the scale in real time. I remember using my old point-and-shoot camera to zoom in all over the place, and only after about 10 minutes of that was I able to put the camera down, take a breathe, and really SEE how freaking huge it is.
What makes it even better is going after the Canyon gets snow. It's absolutely gorgeous.
I saw it at sunrise, it was so breathtaking
Load More Replies...I have been to the Grand Canyon five times...and I am amazed every single time
Yeah, pictures don't due it justice with how absolutely massively huge and beautiful it is. You think 'yeah, it's a cool looking whole in the ground' and then you go see it...
Growing up in the big city, or what we'd consider to be one out here. I had never had an interest in nature or 'outside'. One day after school my parents arrived as usual. What was unusual was the fully packed car. Understanding hits me like a truck. Camping.
Oh no not a plushy electric camping experience my father confirms. We're going to Botswana. The true great outdoors. I sulk of course, all the way there. We get to... well where ever we were. Set up camp and I jump straight in my tent to continue my pity party.
Some hours later and my parents still haven't lit a fire. I can hear their voices faintly. Upset, but more because of their disregard for my tantrum. I emerge from the tent and all thoughts of my remarks disappear.
The sight that greets me is, for lack of a better word, Awesome. Stars, more than I thought possible. They covered every inch of my vision from one horizon to the other behind me. Between the blanket of stars, nebulae of every colour are visible.
My father laughs at my expression as I desperately crane my neck to see it all. Lemme tell you folks. Perfectly dark night sky 100% lives up to the hype.
Glad you got out of the tent to experience the beauty of the night sky...i see it almost every night and never get over how amazing it is.
It’s incredible! And when you can see yellow or red or blue stars in the mix…😍
Load More Replies...I love being outside and amongst nature. It is where I feel like my most genuine self.
I get it. My area had a massive blackout in 2003 that impacted the northeastern U.S. and southern Canada for a couple of days. The first night we went out in the backyard, laid on a blanket and stared at the stars. It was surreal and breathtaking.
See if you can get to a place without city lights when the regular meteor showers come through. It will blow your mind. The Perseids usually blow through in July and the Leonids come in mid-November.
Load More Replies...I love the stars. Astronomy is my favourite science field.
Therapy, yeah that's sappy as hell, but it made me feel a lot better, still working on myself, but my psychologist is a saint and she does all she can to help
I don't think there is anything sappy about caring for your mental health. Glad you met the professional you need and making progress!
"The professional you need" is key. I had two really bad experiences with not so professional "therapists" before finding an amazing one.
Load More Replies...Too bad not all of us who need them (badly) can't afford them (insurance is way way to expensive at $700/mth & deductible is $1500 for me).
That's one thing that I find so incredibly sad about healthcare in the United States. People who are in true need of help be it therapy or medication often cannot afford it.
Load More Replies...Don't know if a mental health professional could help with all my issues. I used to be a really nice person. Then came a lifetime of dealing with crappy people who treated me like c**p. My husband is my rock .
Everyone should be in therapy! It’s nice to have that unbiased person that doesn’t have a stake in your life to open up to.
There is nothing "sappy" about seeking care for your mental health. There is nothing sappy about seeking professional help to work through problems. There is nothing sappy about caring for yourself and learning and crowing.
Finding true love. Might take a long time and a lot of heartache before it happens, but when it does happen it's the absolute best thing in the world.
"But how do you know it is really true love?" Trust me, you'll know.
Just like how if anybody isn't 100% sure if they've experienced true love, they haven't.
Load More Replies...Not everyone will that. I hate the message that we need to have a relationship to be fulfilled. I love seeing people happy and I am genuinely happy for them when I see it, but not everyone will get it and some simply don’t want it.
you guys actually get to experience a break up? Im still single and nobody really likes me.
Yeah, me too! I had almost given up. And man does it feel good! Hope we have many more years!
THIS. I'm 38 and in a real relationship for the first time ever. It's everything I ever wanted but I didn't think was real. All the cliches and songs and movies and stuff are all true. It blows my mind. But I'm so happy.
The Matrix. It was super hyped up before it came out and when it hit, people were talking about it for weeks. I watched it many times in the cinema and each time was fantastic. It's still fantastic 20 years later!
First three were great. Haven't seen the remake ,yet
Load More Replies...As a lifelong science fiction fan and a lover of cinema, there were two films I saw overseas without seeing any hype, any review, just walked into the cinema because that was a film being shown on a Saturday night. The first was Alien and the other, years later, was Matrix. Both knocked me over for different reasons. Great cinema experiences.
I had this with The Game when I was overseas. At home some friends and I were supposed to see some movie that ended up sold out so we saw Sixth Sense instead which nobody had heard of.
Load More Replies...The Matrix is why I don't watch trailers for movies anymore. I saw it in the theaters completely not knowing a thing about it, I had never even heard of it. I saw the poster, thought it looked cool and it had Keanu Reeves and Laurence Fishburne, so I decided to see it. Blew my mind. What a great movie. I really do think trailers can ruin the experience of seeing a movie, so I avoid watching them now.
Trailer for T2 ruined the movie experience. They showed the twist in the trailer. Who the f does that?
Load More Replies...Dark horse opinion: I actually *really* like the second and third movies too. The most recent reboot was perfect, literally perfect. A perfect portrait of middle aged ennui when you realize the revolution didn’t go as planned 😂 And the scene where all of the creative developers are spinning out what a “matrix sequel” really should be all about? Freaking hilarious
I didn't care for the movie. It was all right, but it didn't really hit me. I've never seen the sequels.
The effects were great, but the story itself didn't seem to be anything really new.

Both Hubble and Kepler space telescopes. Deep field images showing thousands of galaxies in just a tiny patch of sky and the discovery of thousands of exoplanets that are so different from planets in our own solar system. What better could astronomers hope to find up there?
Now with the incredible images coming from the James Webb Telescope. The pics of the Pillars of Creation are astounding
I just wish they could have found someone more worthy to name it after than a homophobe and a racist.

Actual Japanese ramen. Naruto wasn't playing it really is that good.
And if you tried it and wasn't impressed, then please don't give up on it! There are a lot of varieties in different parts of Japan, with smaller family-owned shops offering something that is quite different from what bigger and more popular ones have, so there is an actual chance that the ramen of your dreams is waiting for you somewhere.
I said “meh” to ramen the first time because I was thinking of dollar-store instant ramen. Wow was I ever mistaken 😍

Nothing beats authentic tonkatsu with a rich and creamy broth that has been simmering for hours, hand-drawn noodles, and delicious toppings of char siu, assorted veggies, and a marinated soy sauce egg.
I have never had ramen.. I feel like I am missing out on something big.
It's hard to find a good ramen place where I live. Americanized Chinese is everywhere, but good ramen? Not so much.
Load More Replies...Ugh!! There's an EGG in there!! And HAM! Eggs and ham and noodles! Nooooo!!! Lol J/k I've seen some that do look good...without the egg
I wish I remembered the name of the ramen shop that we found in Tokyo. It opened really early in the morning but close when the ran out of broth for the day. It was so amazing.
The first Deadpool movie. I was worried as f**k that it wasn't gonna be violent, crude, or emotional, but it checked off every box. The point where I knew it was gonna be great was when Deadpool dropped into the SUV, and the one goon got thrown out and f*****g SPLATTED on the freeway sign.
Deadpool was one of the few movies I reluctantly agreed to see (for some reason it just didn’t appeal to me) because my husband wanted to and ended up loving it.
To each their own, I personally thought it was rubbish, but then I've always preferred DC over Marvel. Did like the Spiderman movies though, and into the spider verse!
NO DOWNVOTES JUST BECAUSE YOU DISAGREE!!! A down vote is a vote to cancel someone, not to express disapproval. 10 downvotes is a suspension. 3 suspensions is a cancellation. And BoredPanda gave up on appeals.
Load More Replies...I wish they hadn't changed the music track for the home version. That point in the movie theater version where it's playing "You're the Inspiration" by Chicago, and the dagger goes in his head, and makes the music go all wonky was one of the funniest parts of the movie. But it's completely absent from the home / streaming version, where it's just playing some generic fighting music during that scene :(
After the intro I said "I could leave right now and this would have still lived up to the hype"
Squatty Potty. Let that hate flow right out of you.
I've got one of these! It's amazing for helping with constipation! I call it my "stool stool"
So happy for your trouble-free bowel movements!

I received one as a company Christmas gift. I was not amused and did not really know what it was. After some research, years later, it is still in my bathroom. My husband states that it really helps him.
A company gift?? What an odd thing to give to your staff.

Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse. Didn't think I could possibly like a superhero movie to the point of watching it 6 times, forcing all of my friends to watch it and listening to the soundtrack on repeat. My animation major friend kept raving about it and I promised I'd eventually watch it. When I did, I was in SHOCK at how good it was.
Just maybe the best spider man movie ever, animated or live action and I'm a huge spiderman fan
I love this movie but Spider-man: No Way Home is the best Spider-man movie in my opinion. It made me cry when the three Spider-mans came together. Especially Tobey Maguire's Spider-man. Never thought I'd see him in that suit again. It made me feel so nostalgic and I really appreciated it. Love that movie.
Load More Replies...Is that the one where all the spider-man actors are in it together? I slept through about 75% of it lol
Stranger Things. I thought it was going to be overrated but my mom made me watch it and now I'm addicted.
Oh wow. I've only watched the first season, nothing after that- are their haircuts usually this, um... bad?
Stranger things is like a mash up of all the good movies of the eighties
I loved the first couple seasons and now it’s just starting to feel like a big money grab to me now that the producers know how popular it is (please dont downvote, just my opinion)
I loved the first season, because at my advanced age, it was the first Hollywood product to depict the 1980s in any way even resembling my childhood. Literally, my first sense of nostalgia for real life ever triggered by Hollywood. By the fifth season, it had become exactly what I had loved it for NOT being. Pop-culture references, like in the 2nd season, are cool. Relying on the same tropes that lazy or out-of-touch writers have relied on for 50 years is not cool, even if you're winking at the audience as you do it. The entire California thread really only served to give those characters something to do while they were necessarily absent from Indiana. And nothing in Russia made any sense at all, even if I loved every character that went there.
Won't watch it because I was in the mental institute as a kid that the show uses for some of its backgrounds.
Except the last season--Season 4, I think, we waited like 3 years or something for it and I couldn't even get through one episode because I was just that bored. Literally nothing happened for 90% of the episode I tried to watch.
I live alone, and I gotta say... It's awesome, but without any incentive to clean or organize things get messy quick!
Lol I find the opposite to be true. It's so easy to keep the place clean when it's just me. When I live with someone, their bad habits mess my routine up. Alone I get to the sink and wash my dishes. With someone in the house I get to the sink and there's a pile of dishes in my way and I don't have time for that, so I leave my dishes for later only later there are even more and it becomes a huge stressful thing.
I feel this. When my husband goes away for a few days, I have to force me to clean up after myself lol. And I feel we are not alone as I hear my girlfriends say...I cant today as hubby is home tomorrow and I have to clean the house 😆
Neighbor’s chili. Moved in and everybody wouldn’t shut up about this guy’s chili. To the point it was annoying to hear about. The first cold day that fall I had it. Holy s**t - now I won’t shut up about it.
Edit: wow this really blew up! The guy doesn't share his recipe and I'm not sure really why. He's good about deflecting requests. He always says something funny like "a little of this, a little of that, some frog nuts and cheap champagne."
Sounds like he just doesn't have an exact recipe, but works to taste.
Won't share my recipe for my chili either. Have won 3 contest with it. I will say , I gave 5 levels of heat available, tbh.
Come to find out it's from a can but doctored with frog nuts and champagne!
If you want to know how to make something do what I did years ago! Train yourself to isolate and recognize the flavor and scent profile of individual seasonings, herbs, spices, and condiments. Learn to recognize the scent difference between garlic powder & onion powder, white, red & black pepper, etc. Grab a container of Italian seasoning and read the ingredients, then smell it. Now grab the individual herbs listed on the label and smell each one. Taste different vinegars and cooking wines, and taste seaweed, fish & oyster sauce to discover the source of umami. Once you practice this enough you will be able recognize just about every ingredient in any dish. Then it's just a matter of trial and error to get the correct proportions at home. Have you ever eaten a curry dish? Grab a container of cumin and smell it. The scent is unmistakable.
Being married. It's been a year and a half and it keeps getting better and better.
Married 15 years and we are still together, happy and love each other more and more. We have been through some good and really rough times but we are still by each others side.
Marrying my husband was the best thing that's ever happened to me. He brings so much joy and love into my life. I can't imagine a life without him ❤️
Marriage is the hardest thing I've done in my life so far. It's work but it's worth it and when times are good, it's so much f*****g fun. My husband is my absolute best friend. We can push each other to the point of insanity but we can also bring each other out of it. It's a balance and it never stops being something I WANT.
Harry Potter - I still remember the long lines on the release day for Deathly Hallows. The books couldn’t have had a better ending
For people Harry Potter seems to be either “love/obsessed” or “meh, I don’t understand why this is so special” and like not much in between. I haven’t found anyone that hates it and just a few who “kind of” like it. I am in the “meh” category. I read like one and a half of the books and saw three of the movies, but it never drew me in. I’m really glad though about how many kids it got into reading.
I'm in the "love/obsessed" category and you have a point....everyone is either totally into it or just don't care....J.K. Rowling has her fair share of haters but I haven't encountered anyone bashing the books themselves. How odd.
Load More Replies...It’s “meh” for me, too, but I was already an adult when it came out. Star Wars came out when I was a kid and I worshipped it, but for my friends that are just five and ten years older than me? Meh.
Enjoyed watching the first couple of films. There was humor and the characters were fun. As it got darker and darker by the end movie - I was depressed watching it. It was tiring - why do characters travel seeming endless miles of desert or arctic cold and never seem to need to go to the bathroom or eat or drink?
Dungeons & Dragons.
I lived with a friend at university who -- back in the days of 3.5e -- would suggest every weekend that we played a game. I had no interest in spending my Saturday afternoons pretending to be an elf or whatever-the-f**k you were supposed to do when you played. *No, thank you.*
Then I actually tried it a year or two ago, and it's dope. Sit around with friends, talk some s**t, eat some cheese, drinks some beers, kill some imaginary goblins. With three months I was DMing, and now I have more dice than I know what to do with and a folder on my desktop devoted to all the games I know I'm never going to get around to playing, all because adult scheduling is the true BBEG.
D&D is awesome. I get it, it's not for everyone, but for those who it is for - awesome.
I have never played d&d (beside PC games) but many other pen and paper Systems. Thing is, you will never understand what people are doing in this games until you give ita try. (same with larp). I once wrote a tiny adventure for my parents, siblings, grandparents and an aunt, (free, simlified rules) where they were elfs on their last Training day. They had to solve a Training Situation with some Problems like "don't wake the humans up", "beware of the dog", "how will you get in the house without a chimney" and so on. It was very funny. Only my grandpa did not understand a thing but He was in His last years and generally became more Problems to understand New to him things
My daughter never played it then she got with her boyfriend, now finance, they have a D&D night at least 3 times a month, I don't understand, but as long as they like and like to play that is all that matters. Totally went DND on them for Christmas! Lots of DND gifts for them both!
Just do NOT get into it with the Shopkeeper. Chances are huge the guy is a Lvl 20 Retired Adventurer-and you are his daily warm up round
I used to play 1e and 2e way back in the day and recently got into playing 5e with some pals from work. The game is terrific, but it's really more about the social interaction. No different, really, than having poker night or whatever.
Sounds like the games me and my husband used to play. My BIL was usually DM (and boy could he spin a story). We'd be over at his place for literally hours and about a thrid of that time was actually adventuring. The rest of the time was just bullsh*tting around.
Amen on the adult scheduling, but also for shedding the occassional mooch.
The Breaking Bad series finale
One of those shows that actually hand a finale live up to the greatness of the show. Vs say GoT or Seinfeld.
Love Brian Cranston's work . The evolution of Walt and Jessie thru the whole series was incredible. My favorite episode is in season two(?), When Jessie got hosed by everyone. The porta- potty scene. Laughed so hard.

A cliffhanger though? So much plot was dying to be expanded on before that!

Bidet
Do people with bidet's have to keep butt towels by the toilet? Like hand towels but instead a towel to dry ur butt. Look at all the water that shoots outta that thing! It seems like ur butt and balls(if u have them, especially low hangers!)would get all wet and then you'd need to dry off with something right?
Oh, they have add on bidets for toilets. I have two, so kind to the tush!

Hawai'i. It has been hyped as a beautiful worry-free paradise. But when I went there, it was a beautiful worry-free paradise. 10/10 would go again.
I loved Hawaii, but it wasn't what I expected. Waikiki was meh, but Hanauma Bay was awesome. Thought the place would be greener. I was amazed at how much yellow and brown farmland there was, not so much lush, tropical paradise.
Depends on what island you visit. All have their different personalities and pros/cons. I lived in Oahu for 3 years of college and have traveled the islands extensively. I tell people that are traveling their for the first time to go to Kauai. If you haven’t been and you’ve imagined Hawaii in your mind, Kauai is what you imagined.

Do they chase people around, trying to sell them insurance?

Visiting Japan. Used to be kind of a weeb when I was a teen but that phase died out when I grew into my 20s. My SO and I planned a trip to see my brother and his Japanese gf just to stay in touch even though I would have rather loved to see Florence or Marrakech instead but boy oh boy was I wrong. Japan really brought the kid inside me out again. (edit: even though I couldn't care less about anime)
Yup, that's what this amazing country does to you (or at least did to me). Come for the anime/ranobe/games, stay for... well, literally everything else.
When I visited, I was amazed by the sheer convenience of everything. All those small solutions that seem so obvious, yet they're nowhere else. Like the distinct shape of some object to use it way more easily, like a button placed exactly where you'd need it to be, like that small retractable thingy shaving a few minutes of each time you have to use it....
I am always amazed at Japan's cleanliness. I grew up there and didn't realize it until moving to the US.
That's funny, because I absolutely hated Tokyo. I hope the rest of the country is better/different (I am guessing that it is).
I lived there as a kid. Oh how I wish I could go back and take my kids.
So far..... The Mandalorian.
If it was edited down to about 50% of its length it would be really good. There’s a lot of filler in there.
Can't agree. Best thing I've ever seen was the Blurgg riding scenes. It looked like everyone had giant legs if you don't specifically look for their real legs.

It took me a bit too long to move from flip phone to smart phone and I don’t know why I didn’t sooner. It combined so many things I used through apps, etc.
I sometimes feel like a Luddite. I like my smartphone, and I do lots of stuff on it, but there's SO much I still do on my laptop. I HATE trying to type anything on my smartphone, and the screen is so small that I find it much easier to do most online activities on my laptop instead of my phone. (Of course I'm also a writer, and I'm NOT going to write entire novels on my phone! lol)
Load More Replies...I had a similar experience with the iPad. "Yeah, looks interesting but I don't think it's for me." Then I tried one out and holy c**p. I immediately went and bought... a Samsung Galaxy Tab :P
I'm at the opposite end. I find I use my phone less and less. Still appreciate having it and what it can do but I often don't even know where it is when I'm at home. Nice to be "out of touch".
Some of my co-workers have our work chat channels on their personal phones. I'm like, "WHY?" When you're away from work, why the heck would you want to have to deal with work stuff??
Load More Replies...Banking, texting, email, finding love, fighting with equally anonymous people on the internets, shopping, selling used stuff, arming and disarming my home security system, turning the lights on and off, an app for my washer and dryer even... I love smart phones.
Visiting Machu Picchu and other Inca ruins. It was amazing. They don't tell you that there are just random llamas grazing on these ancient stone terraces. Or that there are huge blue butterflies everywhere. Or about the tourist city that has sprung up around the ruins of Machu Picchu. Or about how crazy the city of Lima is.
The original Star Wars films. Didn’t get around to seeing them till college, and just made my roommate watch them for the first time.
We showed them to our kids when they were little, and we've watched them many times. Ditto with the LOTR series.
Hahaha. Saw it when I was in college, in Mexico, dubbed in Spanish with English subtitles.
don't downvote me to oblivion, everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but watched them as a kid, loved them, watched them again when i was older, didn't understand the hype
Personally... sex
Nope! Overrated. Messy. Squishy. Embarrassing. Disappointing. Gave it up 15 years ago. Life is so much easier when you’re not chasing after it.
They usually go together. I have been married for 10 years and with the same woman for 17. I will say that sex wile in love is where it is at. I can see where sex w/ no romantic feelings for the person could be empty and unfulfilling.

My friends who were there loved it, but all I always took from the conversations with them was, that they worked crappy, underpaid jobs, to live in a van in a country where everything tries to kill you. After I finished university my GF made me go with her, and I was so not hyped. Turns out I have never seen a more beautiful country with such a nice infrastructure for camping. I would say it was the best 6 weeks of my life so far.
Crazy expensive in the Red Centre, but totally worth it for the experience.
Problem is, everything in Aus is either trying to kll you or plotting to.
My wife’s deviled eggs. She talked these things up for months when we first started dating. Her mom talked about them, her dad, her sister, everyone in her family loves them. Then I ate one. It was life changing.
A squeeze of anchovy paste added to the filling really boosts the umami flavour.
Load More Replies...I came up with a killer deviled eggs recipe. Stern Grove here in San Francisco has free concerts during the summer. You just need to showup early enough to save a spot on the grass or to grab a table. We were doing a potluck thing and I brought my eggs. Stranger/freinds of friends raved about them on their own. Without any prompting. I was super proud. THEN I LOST THE RECIPE. I had written down and I stupidly didn't save it on computer and I can't remember the specifics that made it great. I've hated myself every since because Ive wanted to eat those egg! lol
How does she make them??????? Love them but der not very tasty when i make em 😥
I can't find the recipe I use online, but it has Dijon mustard and balsamic vinegar and it's fantastic.

BEST PART OF ENDGAME??? CAP GOING ALL OUT BOB THE BUILDER WITH HIS NEW HAMMER
My very first trip to Manhattan.
My sister and I booked a 10 day stay at The Roosevelt in Midtown. We land at LaGuardia from Dallas and the airport employees were super friendly when they saw me in my UT Dallas hoodie; I even got a hug! Like, what?! So we go out of the terminal and the car service to Manhattan calls us to let us know they overbooked and ran out of sedans and SUVs....so they sent a stretch limo to pick us up!
The trip was full of lucky turns. We got very last minute front and center seats to the Radio City Rockettes for $60 each!
The city just lived up to every expectation I had since childhood. I love it.
I have absolutely no frame of reference to the amount of luck you had on that trip.
Truly. I hate to think that if they were to go back it would be a completely different experience lol
Load More Replies...Not being a chauvinistic pig but the cynic in me suspects this was a young good looking female. Been a long time but it sure doesn't match my experience.
No middle aged man is going to be getting hugs from strangers, that's for sure
Load More Replies...Yeah absolutely no way in hell this is happening again - to have not one of those events happen but ALL of them - nope, nada no way
Hated it! Way overpriced, way too much garbage on the streets, no respect for personal boundaries, loud, smelly. I could never live there.
"The city just lived up to every expectation I had since childhood" - This had not been my experience. I expected New York (in 1985) to be your standard American city, a bit older and bigger, perhaps, but otherwise... Instead I found a place like no other; grand and exiting, the crazy sweet mothership for all of us ADHD people; stimulating, exhilarating, and unknowable because there is so much of it. The subway during rush-hour is impossible to believe. Once I came across a side street near the Guggenheim; the cops had blocked it off at either end of the block so that the kids from a school there could play during recess - have either of you ever heard of such a thing? When asking people for directions they found my (then still heavy) Austrian accent easier to understand than my wife's Seattle accent (if there is such a thing). Weird. - Only in New York.
The Roosevelt is one of the least impressive hotels in Manhattan (it's now closed actually)... but I'm glad this person had a nice time there!
This was very different to my experience of NYC. I'd wanted to go there my whole life, saved for months and thought it was the most overrated, dirty, expensive, claustrophobic dump I'd ever had the misfortune to visit. The people were rude, loud, entitled and full of ego because they're New Yorkers and can therefore do what they like. After a 7 hour flight I was screamed at by a guard who assumed I couldn't speak English because I'm not American. (I'm British, my country was speaking English before yours even offically existed). I couldn't wait to go home and I'll never go back. I suspect the OP would not have had the same welcome at the airport had they not been American.
The Instant Pot - at least for me. I use that thing all the time. Totally worth every cent and I turned my family onto the Instant Pot as well.
Yep - I got the Instant Pot with the Airfryer lid and it takes care of 80% of our cooking needs. I keep a spare in storage in case this one goes out. I love it!!
The only thing that irks me about the instant pot is the pot it comes with! Why TF did they have to give it a concave base? Makes sauteing annoying.
Yes! Love my instapot! And ninja foodie is awesome too it air fries, grills, slow cooks, some do like 6 different settings. It's a bit pricey but worth it to me. We both work 5 days a week and it's hard to come home and have time to cook healthy food. My foodie has been life changing. (I got it as a gift form my amazing sister-in-law :)
Jurasic Park Helicopter Tour of Kauai Island in Hawaii. It's about $400 for 1.5 hours, but it's one of the most life changing things I ever did with my dad. Out of one window, you saw wales break the surface, and then you zoom around the island in and out of cliffs and rocks and mountains and dozens of mini waterfalls, and then you land a few yards from where the Jurassic Park helicopter pad used to be, and you walk up to the 500 foot falls. It's really just an amazing trip to see.
Wait, how did Wales get to Hawaii? It's not even in the same ocean.
I 100% agree with this. If ever anyone plans to do a helicopter tour, I highly recommend Kauai Island. I really did not think it was going to be as breathtaking as it was. I cannot describe how amazing. Speechless.
Rick and Morty. I hated the idea of the show, thinking it would be another poorly animated comedy with terrible humor.
Boy was I wrong.
Watched all 3 seasons in 4 days EXACTLY. And I am NOT a binge watcher
Are the newest seasons still good? I've fallen behind and wonder if it's worth getting back into.
Load More Replies...I think I’d enjoy it but I can’t watch it. There is something about that style of animation that makes me feel sick. I’ve tried a few times to watch but every time the nausea gets too much.
The Nintendo Switch. I hadn’t bought a Nintendo system since the Gamecube. I wasn’t thrilled about the Wii or the WiiU, so I was hesitant to buy in to Nintendo’s new system when it was announced. I bought it and was 100 percent back as a Nintendo fan boy. That system is fantastic. The fact that it is both portable and a home console is amazing to me. And yes, it is underpowered compared to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, but it makes up for it in its versatility. Also, I can turn it off instantly and come back to exactly where I left off. Brilliant
This was me but with Gameboy instead: Gameboy Advance being the last handheld Nintendo related thing I owned at the time. Then many years later I returned to Nintendo Switch Lite and it's been among my proudest purchases ever: love spending time with it on a daily basis. 🧡
My husband and I have been Nintendo fans since we got ours back in the early 80's. I was the first kid in my neighborhood to get a Super NES so my friends (including my now husband)would all come over every day after school to play. I still have it and yes it still works! I don't have a switch but I've played with some of my friends kids...lots of fun! Great graphics as well!
I have one it’s amazing it becically is like playing all your favorite games in 3d and feels good
Other than the fact that it's portable, I can't figure out why people absolutely love the Switch but the WiiU bombed. They are the same thing.
Games. The WiiU ended up with insane amounts of shovelware but the switch launched with quite a bit of AAA support. I'm still looking to get my hands on a WiiU one of these days, my DS and Wii are missing their sibling.
Load More Replies...Wdym you weren't thrilled from the Wii or WiiU?? Those are the best game systems. I have a Nintendo Switch, Wii, WiiU, Playstation 5 & 4 pro, but I play the WiiU the most. Super Mario Brothers WiiU is so fun.
Undertale from the fundraising to its eventual release a lot of put behind this game and it came through with an explosion of success. A wave that threw itself over the gaming community whether we liked it or not, ^(in more ways than 1.)
Why the downvotes? Its a great game! Just because you personally dont enjoy it dosnt mean you should downvote!
PSA: If you don't agree, just don't respond. Downvote only when it's something toxic or dishonest.

Another one I just couldn't get into, but again probably due to bias. I love Oblivion and playing Skyrim just makes me want to play Oblivion some more. I really should give it another shot.
I've logged well over 1000 hours on 2 different builds and one of these days soonish I'm going to buy the anniversary edition and also try it playing with Mods. Probably log another 1000.

I'll take them! As a woman I wouldn't mind having bigger ones.

Breath of the Wild
Best game ever! Over 5 YEARS and a few playthroughs later (on wiiU & switch), and I'm still paying it again until the sequel comes out. I still discover stuff I haven't found before all the time. There are months at a time that I don't play at all due to the demands of nursing school, but it's definitely a great way to spend my downtime when I have some and the weather is too crappy to go outside.
The artstyle is just so nice too! I love that stylized cartoonish look.

Load More Replies...I personally thought this movie was brilliant and I'm really not into DC/Marvel stuff. I read a few X-men comics in the early 80's but wouldn't call myself a true fan. This movie to me really showed how untreated familial mental illness affects people and how we shun them as a society for simply not fitting in. Joaquin Phoenix should have won an Oscar for this role in my opinion. I also at the behest of a friend watched the new Batman movie and I gotta say that one really impressed me. Aside from it being so very long it showed that he is just a man not infallible. And I absolutely loved Zoe Kravitz as cat woman!
WoW Classic.
Ya'll do realize that World of Warcraft (and every RPG) owes its existence to D&D - you know, the game with the funny looking dice.
Oh god yes, first I thought it was a bit daft, but an awesome advert. Then tried one. WE HUMANS POO SO WRONG!! Every toilet should have one as standard. IT has improved my heath massively. But it's also why most people are full of sh*t .... they poo wrong!
I kept telling my girlfriend how good a**l sex feels, and I finally got her to try it with me. I think she was liking it more than I did. She came, I came and I can't wait for my b******e to stop hurting so we can try it again.
I mean... the prostate is a thing, so why wouldn't straight guys enjoy giving it a little action?
Hey men, y'all do know that your g-spot is inside your a**s... right? haha This shouldn't be that big of a deal and def didn't deserve all these downvotes.
she came?...color me skeptical...the reason things feel good shoved up your butt is b/c you have a prostate...she doesn't...
The original Doom. I could do the first level in 14 seconds, just sprinting to the end. Did it in 12 once, but 14 consistently
For me it would have to be Game of Thrones. Everyone kept going on and on about it and I just thought, "how good could it be?" I finally agreed to watch the first episode so everyone would stop telling me how much I "have to watch it!" and then I watched the whole first season in 2 days. Also, Ted Lasso. Totally lived up to all the hype.
The texas night sky. I hate damn near everything about texas but omg that sky! I can sit all night just gazing at it. Where I lived in MI I had a good view of the sky but it doesn’t even compare to down here. Absolutely breath taking! I’m definitely gonna miss it when I move back out of this hell hole
I have many friends who have a KitchenAid. Is the hype overblown, or are they really that good? I've had a Bosch and was very disappointed. Too much plastic and almost no way to fix anything... because you basically have to destroy the outside, to get to the inside.
We have a KitchenAid. It’s very good. But we did get it for half price from Costco. We have had it for years and it is a very high quality item. We would not have paid full price for it though.
