OK, I laughed. And my dad didn't even arrived that way. The funearl home hand-delivered him to us at hte door. Very solemn, very somber. Then Mom said something like, "Cheap urn my a**, a cheap urn'd be a coffee can." BTW, when Mom moved out of the old house? She put dad's urn in, yes, you guessed it... a coffee can. Why? He hated coffee. He also hated her cat. So her cat's ashes now sit atop his urn in the cat's urn. With tons of religious statues around. b/c he was asn atheist. My mother has a unique way of dealing with anger, as you can see...

I had a similar experience. My wife picked up my brother's remains from the funeral home because my parents just couldn't do it, he had committed suicide. I was taking a class at the time, so I couldn't get to the funeral home. My wife calls me and says "I got your brother, he's riding shotgun" Needless to say, trying to keep my mother together, I had not gotten much sleep over the past few days, but my wife calling and telling me that, I just burst out in laughter, I had to walk out of my class, I had tears rolling down my face I was laughing so much. I told my mother about it a few weeks later. She did not appreciate the humor. Oh well. 🤷🤣😂

jokes are an important part of the grieving process, sincerely. cracked one about one of my friends who had a fling with the sister of one of his friends and the friendship broke down and I went "Your lucky my sister's dead", she died four or five months before. I said that, took a breath and realised what I said but didn't have a problem with what I said and realised what I said in the first sentence. Kudos to this guy for finding the humour in his fathers passing. It's never easy. I think people who find humour in something so sad are good at finding the good in bad situations, and the good in bad people. I think that's a fantastic personal quality to have.

When my dad passed away and after his funeral, mom and I were told that the paperwork and everything to get was in the office. We go in and there’s this neon green coloured bsg with something in it. Neon green? We left it. When we got home the funeral director (a friend) called to tell us “You forgot C@m.” He was in the green bag. All we could picture was dad in the office in the Home Alone pose. Yes. We laughed. The next day, while I was out, mom went and brought him back. When I came home I asked “Where’s dad?” Answer: “He’s in the closet on his pillow.” Mom had saved it. We laughed. So much more we laughed about before we put his ashes in the ocean off the coast of Victoria B.C. My family is weird🤣

I know someone who used to work at a mortuary. He learned early on to develop a sense of humor. If you didn't, you would be crying all of the time, especially when the casket is only three feet long.
