In most professions, you have to deal with people, and even if you're working for yourself, you won’t avoid it. And because you are constrained to work with some random people, there will be unexpected situations, misunderstandings or you will simply not understand them at all.
People who have to work with these kinds of coworkers like to vent about it on the internet and for us, it is entertaining to read because maybe we relate or because the stories are so wild they leave us incredulous.

I am. If there's no receptacle, I simply scrape off the burning end and return the filter to the pack for later disposal. There's no excuse for this grossness.

I smoke outside my office every day, found an very isolated spot and left an empty cartboard cup on one corner. Finish my smoke and the butt ends in. Every friday I empty the cup in a dumpster near by. Is someone throws the cup I just buy another coffe from the machine and use the cup as my mini trash can again.

They need a ballot bin. There has to be something to vote on using cigarette butts. That said, as a smoker I HATE when a receptacle is right there, yet some choose not to use it. Are these the same people that leave shopping carts in the empty spot next to their cars?!

I used to smoke. But after I learned how long it took for a single cigarette filter to disintegrate, I made it a point to extinguish it before tossing (it) in the bin.

Can the firm not put a sand bin outside to put the cig ends in. That is totally disgusting (I'm a smoker) there are f*g ends all over the back entrance to my block of flats and I'm sick to death of brushing them up. I caught the culprit and bagged all the butt ends and tied them to her door!!! She asked why and I told her that her laziness was the last straw and as she is standing beside the rubbish bins smoking I can't understand why she doesn't stub her ciggie out then put the butt in the bin. She still continues to do it and I have now left a dustpan and brush at her door to sweep them up before I report her lazy ass. She's a woman of 60 years old

can't believe adults do this. in '75, i attended a rural high school in the middle of the woods. instead of having the teens run off into the woods to smoke they provided us with a place to smoke. we kept it clean

And I bet that outdoor ashtray is in pristine condition, while the ground is like the bottom of a dirty ashtray. Assholes. Smelly clothes, smelly hair, stinky breath, brownish yellow teeth, brownish yellow fingers, black lungs, and no regard for anyone else. Typical addicts.
However, even if some things that coworkers do aren’t that serious and sometimes they can just be brushed off, that doesn’t mean people should always let them get away with it. Business News Daily pinpointed some tips on how to deal with annoying people at work.
First thing they recommend is to figure out what exactly is annoying you. Maybe it is caused by a miscommunication that is easily fixed and then all the problems would be solved. Another thing to have in mind is to not to react rashly or overreact. It is best to approach the situation calmly and going to HR might also help. It could also be useful to find a common interest or something that you both agree on that would make that person more likeable to you.

If all else fails, the best policy is always to be diplomatic but direct and speak your mind. Most often, it is possible to find a solution because maybe the person you’re annoyed with doesn’t even know it. If someone is bothering you and is preventing you from doing your job, this is a perfect situation where being upfront pays off. Try to be polite and ask them to let you do your job and to go to you only if they have work-related questions.
The last point Business Daily News discusses is just to stay positive. It’s important to have your boundaries and let others know when their behavior is making you uncomfortable, but there is no use in dwelling on negativity.

I am sorry but I have to. Too many years cleaning bathrooms. That empty roll doesn't go into the dispenser. That dispenser is for jumbo rolls. However the person who brought their own paper should throw the tube in the trash

Despite several emails, my colleagues never clean or fill the espresso machine. I spend the least time in the office and I always have to clean, refill, throw away milk that has been there since Friday, remove green mold etc etc. Same for dishes - nobody ever does them. I am the company owner, pay well, am nice - but on this aspect of being together in an office everybody shits. It really frustrates me. They are just ignorant pigs when it comes to basic kitchen hygiene. And if i remove the coffee maker - I will be the bad guy.

I worked at a place where there was a cleanup schedule, so everyone had at least one day of cleaning duty per month. There was still stuff that got forgotten in the fridge (throwing away expired stuff was part of the chores) but as a whole, the break room was one of the neatest I've known.

No photos, but what about the thieves who help themselves to YOUR stuff in the fridge. I bought an 8-pack---this was back in the 70s, and thank the gods, retired and have an awesome part-time job I wish I had full time then--ALL of them were gone. Not a one left. He hid the bottles to take home later! I did find out the person who stole them. He was let go for other reasons. Just to show that Lady Karma may take a while, but at last she shows up. Going on 40+ years and I am not kidding, and all away across the country, I had to call my medical insurance and get some info. The person who answered sounded REALLY familiar....then my brain kicked in...it was the thief all those years later. I said "Say you sure sound like "so-and-so"--silence. He apparently looked and saw my name and got really quiet. I said " I hope you buy your Coca-Colas now instead of helping yourself." He could not believe I remembered. He had to read the script about a survey. "We'll see!"
