Swiss Village To Give $70,000 To Families Willing To Move In, And Here’s How Life Looks There
Looking for a change of scenery? If a utopic, picturesque mountainside village in Switzerland sounds like your cup of tea, you’re in luck. The small village of Albinen, in the stunning Canton of Valais, is now offering families handsome sums of money to move to their remote community, and we just have one question – would you?
Albinen is a quiet, peaceful town with spectacular alpine views, but according to municipality president Beat Jost, families and young people are leaving in droves. The population has dwindled to a measly 240, and the village school has even closed, forcing the community’s 7 remaining children to commute to another nearby town. So, what’s a small village in a rich country to do in times like these? Pay off prospective new residents, of course!
The initiative is meant to attract families and people under age 45 who are seeking to buy or build a new home. Each adult will be offered a little over $25 thousand for their time, with each child being worth about $10 thousand. This means that a family of four could rake in more than $70 grand, provided their investment in a home totals at least $200k. If you’re like Feodor Vassilyev, the Russian peasant who sired 69 children with his first wife, you’d be in for over $700k. All those mangy kids of yours might finally prove to be a return on investment!
Scroll down to see the wondrous Albinen for yourself, and let us know if you’re booking plane tickets already in the comments.

Each adult will be payed just over $25k, while each of their children will receive about $10k, just for moving there

Share on FacebookOh, well. Swiss person here. First of all, it's only CHF 25'000 for an adult. Second, You'll have to stay there for over 10 years while Albinen being Your main and only residence AND invest CHF 200'000 of Your own money (at minimum) for construction/renovation of a flat or a house. Otherwise You'll have to pay the money back. And last but not least - it's not even official yet, they're voting about it on November 30th. Chill out.
How much for a 48 year old with 5 cats? How strong is wifi and does Amazon deliver? Call me Heidi! I'm in!!
Cats should count as children, because they are my babies!
Load More Replies..."If you’re like Feodor Vassilyev, the Russian peasant who sired 69 children with his first wife…" Wut? Ok, I just google him: why is this man even famous when it was his wife who did all the damn work?
Hhhhhhh Lol that's true his wife did the work... she's up normal
Load More Replies...These “they will pay you to move there” stories always turn out to be fake.
Sounds like hell to me. Switzerland = expensive + isolated + closed off towards strangers, especially Germans :C. 240 people = not a lot of infrastructure, jobs and entertainment
240 people = not a lot of infrastructure, jobs and entertainment... and genes.
Load More Replies...Oh, well. Swiss person here. These 25'000 will be only given, if You're willing actually to stay there for over 10 years AND will invest in construction/renovation of a flat or a house at least 200'000 yourself. Otherwise You'll have to pay it back. AND - it's not even decided yet, they're voting about it on November 30th.

I think the best way to attract more people more conducive to live and create employment opportunity there. Anyway, whenever they decide .I am interested in relocating there . I am a single guy ready to marry and move my wife there.Need a good job not an ISIS job please.
Load More Replies...Can I be doctor in this town too, i will bring my ultrasound for echos
I would be significantly more happy if those blebs of black houses where not there to marr the natural scenery. I never did like human settlement in mountain scenery. It start out small enough until it destroys everything.
With all that beautiful space, one wonders why the houses are so crowded together...?
Will it look slightly decrepit sooner or later? Or will the lucky ones maintain the place properly?
What a depressing looking village. Are there any paved roads. Where would a person work? The school is closed. the winter must be horrible in this Alpine village! There didn't appear to be even 10 feet of level land in the whole village. No thanks.
the one thing I didn't see was a power source...not even a mast on any of the houses so that makes me wonder about electricity...looks like everyone has a wood stove for heat and they forgot to show you what it is like in winter and how many months are you stuck. Someone with kids that is used to all the easy living is not going to go their and like the other poster has stated...sounds good on the start but doesn't sound so good after all is said and done....especially committing to 10 yrs after you have invested 200K of your own...the bennies don't add up!!!
There are a few more details, i wish there weren't http://metro.co.uk/2017/11/21/swiss-village-wants-to-give-people-53000-to-live-there-7098086/

I posted a comment earlier and now it's gone. Some woman named Debra commented on it and now I can't continue a conversation with her. It shows in my Facebook but now I have no way to contact her. What was the point to leave feedback or "what I think" if my posts won't be seen? I thinks she's cute and no I'm just being led to disappointment due to this page being incompetent... Thank alot bored panda
Can you allow me please,im from Nigeria.my number is +2348064053707
I'd jump at this, but like the Italian villages doing similar things, most Americans have no steady rentier-style income...where would we work? I'm a college professor, but I do not know French (it is Valais, not Berne, my German is better, but still weak). Most Americans don't have CHF200K even in their retirement accounts before age 45 (I'm 48, but near it). My kids are in college, and I'm divorced, so no more kids. Still, if possible, I'd jump at the chance. -Rev Dr M
I noted that the video was careful NOT to show what kind of snow this place gets in full winter. Bet it's a bunch!
If it's true it would be a Great starting opportunity. I was in Swiss once, such a Great- Clean-peaceful--beautiful Country with awesome & Priceless Nature. I Love you Swiss
Looks like a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there. When I was in the Navy, I was stationed on small, isolated little places. The atmosphere was always small-town friendly, but, after about a year, the cabin fever started.
who can tell me that a citizen of Armenia can come and live there?
And you will want to check out how much of your salary will be taken in taxes...ISH!!
Hello I am interested, I am now France, my family in Bangladesh and two children. Me and my family legality possible, how that village business . Internet, wifi electricity have
I’m interested. Please tell me more how to start a new life in Albinen?
I commented on here once already, been told I've got responses. Now, I can't find my old post. Lol, crazy sight here.
"All those mangy kids of yours might finally prove to be a return on investment!" hahaha!
I think that mainly older people would find this village compelling. Younger people want bright lights, big city.
My spouse and I do NOT like the cold. Aside from that, it could be an adventure. We am outside the limit of their age parameters. Also, transporting our one cat would prove to be a nightmare for our cat. (She would need to be tranquilized for the whole flight/journey.) Namaste'
yes I am willing to move from USA to Swiss. but what's the job I can get there as english speaker?
So what work is available there, is there a Medical Center, A Bank, what kind of businesses are available. Will the school re-open, what is the nearest city?
If I️ didn't have a anything keeping me where I'm at I️ would love to do it. I️ up and moved to Hawaii so why not Switzerland???
It's a pretty cool idea for those of us that like the quiet and cool life. Any room for Africans and Muslims? If not, why not?
