Sofia Vergara’s Instagram account was flooded with negative comments after a snapshot shared yesterday (February 23) saw her alongside rapper Snoop Dogg, who is on the receiving end of a massive wave of fan backlash.

The photo saw both celebrities posing with socialite Paris Hilton during Hilton’s star-studded 44th birthday celebration at her Beverly Hills, California mansion.

While Vergara’s fans were initially delighted to see their idol smiling and having fun, thefocus soon shifted to Snoop Dogg, whose controversial appearance at President Donald Trump’s inauguration on January 17 has turned a sizable portion of netizens against him.

“Snoop is a sellout,” one user wrote. “You don’t want to be associated with him!”

Snoop Dogg’s performance at Donald Trump’s inauguration has remained a hot-button topic for weeks.

Critics claim the rapper, who has historically been outspoken on social and political issues, “betrayed” his fans by agreeing to perform at the event. Detractors have been vocal on social media, accusing him of hypocrisy and turning his back on his roots.

Vergara’s fans were also put off by the positioning of Snoop’s hand in the photo, which appeared to be resting too close to one of the actress’ breasts for their liking.

“Snoop is no good. Look where he puts his hand. He has no respect,” one user noted.

“Snoop getting a little handsy?” another said.

“Hmm, you are way too classy for that pic, Sofia Vergara,” a fan commented.

The lavish party reportedly also featured appearances by celebrities such as Sydney Sweeney and a recently divorced Jessica Alba, among others.

The rapper dismissed the criticism, assuring his fans that he was still “100% Black” and that he wouldn’t back down

On January 26, the ever-increasing intensity of the backlash forced Snoop Dogg to issue a statement addressing the hate in an Instagram video where he assured his followers that he was “still a Black man.”

The clip sees the rapper sitting in his car listening to the gospel-inflected track Ain’t No Need to Worry, before saying: “For all the hate, I’m gonna answer it with love. Y’all can’t hate enough on me. I love too much.”

The rapper then ordered his fans to “get [their lives] right,” and to stop wasting time “worrying about [his].”

“I’m cool. I’m together. Still a Black man. Still 100% Black,” he continued.

Snoop Dogg dismissed the criticism, arguing that it came from people trying to “tear [him] down” and that he was not going to back down due to being a “strong Black man. Cut from a different cloth.”

“You can be up one minute, and they’ll try to pull you down the next,” he stated.

“Nah girl, not Snoop, he’s dead to us Latinas,” one of Vergara’s followers wrote. “Snoop Dog should be deported.”

Others took offense at the photo beyond political reasons, considering the rapper to be a controversial figure beyond his appearance at Trump’s inauguration.

“You are way above him,” a viewer wrote. “Snoop Dog destroyed a generation of youth with his gangsta, gun-toting, weed-smoking agenda.”

“How can you even let him touch you? My opinion of you just dropped way down,” another stated.

Vergara has not directly addressed the backlash, limiting herself to exchanging fun messages with Paris Hilton, who replied with: “Love you! So much fun celebrating with you sis!”

The actress has, however, had a jam-packed schedule. In 2024, she both starred in and produced the miniseries Griselda, inspired by the life of Colombian drug kingpin, Griselda Blanco.

She’s also been managing her beauty brand, Toty, which debuted in 2023.

It's a sad day when we can't be friends with people who have opinions we disagree with, and even sadder when we don't allow others to do the same.

I’m quite happy to be friends with people with different opinions, unless it’s Trump. If you support him, remove yourself from my life. A lot of people feel like that here (here not being the US). There’s differing opinions, then there’s just evil opinions.

Oh, god, get a f*****g life, people. A gig is a gig, a presidential inauguration probably a once in a lifetime gig. Stop cancelling people or telling them who they can and can't hang out with.

I was out on Snoop before I learned of this travesty. I am not shocked, he has been a sellout for a while.
