I don't have any friends, let alone a best friend, but can still be my own best friend.

Hello Saphyre Fyre, I understand where you are coming from. The majority of my friends in my lifetime have been books.

I came up with the idea for these posters when I realized how often we tend to overlook the effects of little day-to-day choices on our well-being in the long run: how excessive expectations lay as a burden on our shoulders.

Hello Isa's left eye, are you going to take care of yourself or are you going to allow yourself to get so stressed out and sick, that you end up in the ICU in the hospital or end up in a casket?

The absence of a filter floods us with anxiety and existential dread; poor nutrition aids lack of energy and worsens our physical health. The choices one finds in the “Self Care” project can grow into habits and gradually shoot one into an upward spiral.

When I couldn't read at all for what felt like years, I picked a book up and read in 5 minute increments once a day and just forcing myself to do that little bit really helped.

The ability to read is one of the most important gifts I was given as a child. If I had to choose between losing my hearing or my sight; I would choose to lose my hearing. Books have always been my friends and I would not want to ever lose them.

My hope is for this project to serve as a reminder for the ones searching for the ultimate solution that it consists of many baby steps instead of one giant leap. And that making those steps regularly will cover a vast distance toward something we can call “the life that’s worth living”.

I will turn 60 years old in 2025 and trying 60 new things between then and my 61st birthday sounds like a good challenge.

Here's a good one: once a month, go somewhere new. It doesn't have to be a place where you buy stuff; could be a park or some place like a library. Or a place you wouldn't normally go--new hardware store but you don't need tools? Go check it out anyway.

I'm so happy I stopped watching TV news. It made me so distressed and angry.

That's why as with the “Toxic Support” project, I partnered with the Anxiety and Depression Association of America and am immensely grateful for their support! Also, if you are interested here's an article on the “Self Care” project at the ADAA site that you can check out.

Nowadays it is hard to do a lot of stuff if you only have your feet or public transportation. Being without a car is no fun. There is so much interesting stuff to do in life and public transportation usually has no routes where one wants to go or they stop running when you need them to keep running.

I always thought, if I had the money I would buy a treadmill and plop it in front of my television. That way if it rained or was gloomy I would put a travel DVD on and watch it while walking on my treadmill.

Goals: 1) Get out of bed. 2) Brush teeth. 3) Put on clothes. I have learned that spending the entire day in my PJs makes me feel more depressed. 4) Make the bed, even if you' only pull the blanket over the messy sheets. Now you have accomplished 4 things and you haven't even left your room.

I understand your situation all too well, you can go to your school therapist and start seeing them. They aren't required to tell your parents unless you are harming yourself or others. Remember, you are not alone <3

I have gone to numerous therapists throughout the years. For me, it was a waste.
