Person Asks Why People Don’t Like Their ‘Word Of God’, Gets To Learn They’re Being Brainwashed
297Kviews
Not every country has the freedom of absolute free speech – but in countries where they do, one of the messages often spread is that of religion. People can convene, go door to door or spread flyers in an attempt to inform others about their religious beliefs and even persuade them into joining – however, the word of God is not always appreciated.
A lot of people get annoyed or even downright angry when they are disturbed by these religious groups recruiters and have no issue making it known to them. Looking for another way to get people to listen, someone on Quora asked the internet how they could get their religious message through to people without upsetting them – and got the perfect response.
Nothing was left out of this explanation – the brainwashing techniques used to employ recruiters, the thorough indoctrination and even mind control of the religious cults. Scroll down below to read the story for yourself.

Interesting. I've never thought of it that way. I've always thought it was really presumptuous for people to claim they were speaking for God. That includes priests, preachers, rabbis, inmans, whatever. It implies a superiority that I just can't accept.
Bored panda really needs to fix the arrow system on here, Cat Lady has put forward her first hand experience of doing this sort of work and her comment has been downvoted into oblivion, I'm an atheist and I don't believe that Jesus was a real man much less a man god but people should be able to put forward different viewpoints without their comments disappearing, maybe you guys could add a report button instead for people that leave troll comments.
I agree 100%. I think we all have been the victim of this. I don't care if you don't like my statement, but to down vote me into oblivion is the epitome of narrow-mindedness. I think Catlady6000 is wrong in her approach, but I wouldn't down vote her just because we disagree.
Just leave the comments and allow the downvotes. If we disagree, we disagree.
Ironic isn't it, on a post about brainwashing.
As a fellow atheist, I agree with your point, but from what I understand, the general scholarly consensus is that there was a historical Jesus. I don't believe that he was the son of God, or that the gospel is historically accurate, but Josephus and Tacitus both referenced/documented a Jewish teacher who had a reputation as a supposed miracle worker and was executed.
Catlady6000 - the bible is a written version of the children's game 'telephone'. It has been rewritten and revised so many times over the centuries that what you are 'believing in' is most likely 90% different than whatever was originally written. Which, in itself, was 90% folklore, hearsay, and imagination before that. Believe what you will. I have no issues or problems with that. But there is enough racism, intolerance, homophobia, and hatred sloshing through this country (and administration) right now - all in the name of the 'Bible' - that it's imperative to keep your faith to yourself and not attempt to impose it on those of us who actually realize the irony of professing love and tolerance while acting on everything but that. Live your life and let us live ours. If there is a God, it will know the truth and judge accordingly. Peace...
Susan Davies - it IS a FACT that the bible was written by nothing more than mortal man. AND that is was written HUNDREDS of YEARS AFTER the death of Jesus. It IS based on the telling of stories through generations. Then on top of all of that it has been re-written and revised several times over. Those are FACTS. You can look that up if you'd like. Knowledge = maturity.
I agree with you with mostly everything but all the things going on in our country isn't in the name of the Bible that's just funny, it's all in the name of our president, before him we were not dealing with as much hate and ignorance as we are now. A book has nothing to do with the racism, hate, intolerance and homophobia in this country, that book doesn't stand in front of cameras to spread hate.
I find it interesting that AnnaB said, " If there is a God...," and that is similar to what probably is thousands of posts on the internet a day, at a minimum. Interesting, because it's not, "If there is a god or gods...." Most religions that we know of are not monotheistic. Some religions sport no gods at all. Even people who are agnostic or atheist, who are raised in a monotheistic culture (I'm not saying that applies to AnnaB) tend to still think of things in terms of the religion of their upbringing or the major religion around them. There either is a male God in the sky, or there isn't. Those are the only options most people can conceive of if raised on the US or other country where majority religion is Judaism, Christianity, or Islam. Even if they proclaim to be non-believers of any organized religion.

AnnaB - you just did what you are condemning Catlady6000 of doing - you voiced YOUR opinion of religion, as a statement of fact rather than saying "I believe......" or "Personally, I think........". No, you stated factually "the bible is a written version of the children's game 'telephone". So, where did you get that FACT? It's not a fact, it's your opinion, and a very immature one as well. And then you attack again by saying " it's imperative to keep your faith to yourself and not attempt to impose it on those of us who actually realize the irony of professing love and tolerance while acting on everything but that." As though "those of us" are some select group who are privy to some FACT that religion is a crock. If you truly believe what you said "Believe what you will. I have no issues or problems with that", then that was a lie on your part because you CLEARLY have issues with what she believes. You would have chosen to read and slide on by without commenting.
As someone who does engage in this type of work, I would never presume to speak for God, I merely show folks what he says in the Bible, if they seem to be interested. If they're not, fine. No reason to feel hurt or rejected just because someone doesn't want to hear the information you are offering. Everyone is and should be free to accept or reject it as they chose. I chose to engage in this work because 1. I completely believe what I am presenting, not blindly, but having researched, compared, meditated on all aspects and using many resources. 2 A genuinely deep appreciation for and love of God and 3. I'm trying my best to maintain love of neighbor and this work really helps with that.
What makes YOU or anyone believe they have the direct path to enlightenment? What makes you so very sure that YOU have the ear of whatever god you worship? Now, what would you do if I came to your door and began talking about...well, any other belief system and kept talking even if you showed zero interest or even hostility? The problem I have with so many so-called "Christians" is how they live their lives. Jesus spent his time reaching out to the needy, the outcasts, the marginalized. Today's "Christians" spend their time judging others, rejecting others whose lifestyles they cannot accept, marginalizing the needy and finding reasons to reject anyone who is not one of them. They show no respect for differences in belief systems and often advocate discrimination. If you truly love your neighbor, how about instead of spending time trying to convert others, you spend your time serving the poor, advocating for the marginalized and spreading tolerance and true respect for diversity?
It helps you maintain love of neighbour, but does it help neighbour maintain love of you (the neighbour from their perspective)? People are free to believe what they want. But nobody should push their beliefs onto others, no matter what good you think it might do. Leave others be.
And then you go back to your congregation and are rewarded for you efforts. You are being brainwashed so you are not seeing it for what it is.

Julie Julie- to Christians this a matter of life and Death, not a "I'm not going to rock the boat" kind of issue. I want you to go to heaven so if I have to beg you then so be it if it gets you saved. I don't want to "push" my belief on you, I just want to to listen and make your choice.
Y'all ever notice how in Christian teachings Jesus ever tried to "sell" his teachings to anyone? He spent his time helping and healing people FIRST, and then maybe they decided to follow him if they WANTED TO.
the world would be a lot better off if modern Christians were more like the Christ that was portrayed in the bible. He was all about helping people that weren't doing as well as you and that's about it
I would love to agree with you, but the Jesus of the Bible was actually a pretty big d**k. He didn't just go around helping people. That's just the only part people remember. He spent the majority of his time being rude to people and telling them that they were going to hell. This is the guy who curses a fig tree for the unforgivable sin of not having a fig for him to eat.
Sermon on the Mount dear. He also gave instructions to his disciples to go to people's houses and to preach and teach, Matthew 10:12-14; 28:19-20. The message of the Good News was as important as the miracles he performed. Really, those miracles illustrated both what he preached and a beautiful future for us.
As a Christian, I'm pleased to upvote this. I've never seen an instance of Jesus chasing anyone down with His message. He preached it, then went on His way. People either believed or didn't. He didn't beat it over their heads. As His people, we're supposed to do as He did. Shame on us that don't.
And yet he instructed his disciples to go in to people's houses, Matthew 10:12-14, to preach and to teach Matthew 28:19-20. Frankly this was also for his followers benefit. Not all of us can have the joy of feeding and healing, we may never be able to have that privilege. But all of us can teach in some small way. A very dear friend of my who died of ALS was able to do so until she went to a coma, via a word board. It brought her great satisfaction and comfort to be so useful til the end. We try not to "beat people over the head," but we are not perfect and we can get overzealous and over persistent. Just know we do so from a real love of neighbor and God. Thank you for your respectful comments

Orthodox Christianity doesn't do that. They believe that if they "persuade" you to join their church, they are robbing you of your own chance to "see the light" and join their church.
Actually, he spent majority of his time lovingly preaching and teaching the word of his Father. Healing, feeding, resurrection would have actually taken very little time. These actions are very important to us even today because they give us a preview of a beautiful future. However, we are also told to imitate him, to follow him as a model. The most readily available way for any of us to do that is the preaching work. BTW, Jesus sent his apostles door to door Matthew 10:12-14, even instructing how to deal with those who don't want to hear it, "shake the dust off your feet." Which can be very difficult for many of us, we can get a little overzealous. But that does come from a place of love. We're preaching because we want everyone to find the same benefits and hope for the future that we have. Thanks to everyone's feed back, whether you agree or not, your respectful viewpoint is appreciated
Jesus spent his adult life proselytising.
I have always been the type of Christian who lives my life as good as I can for MYSELF. and if someone comes to me and asks what I am doing to enjoy life, then thats the opportunity. I even slam the door on the JWs that come to my house.

Yes! This! What makes me angry is bad behaviour by Christians doing so in the name of Jesus, when Jesus did the exact opposite! Many Christians are lead by selfish desires, not by the ways of God, which I meant to be good, loving, kind and completely unselfish!
Trying to sell your religion to strangers usually involves entering their personal space and sticking your nose into their personal beliefs , or lack of them, and you wonder why they don't appreciate it?
All too often it also seems to involve the stranger's pockets.
